What a wonderful experience! Its obviously not easy dealing with mobility issues, and we needed a hospital bed for 1 month. Dave was able to deliver, and set up in a 3 day notice and I live over an hour away! When we needed to change, they were able to come the very next day and pick up the hospital bed. I truly and very happy that Step Ahead and the staff (Dave and Sydney are who I spoke to most), who helped me navigate this new chapter in our life with mobility issues.

Local business at its finest. My father and I worked with Dave (the owner) to track down a particular chair we had in mind. Its truly astonishing how minimal the selection is at most places in town (most stores offering only one or two brands,) but Dave was willing and able to order our exact chair of choice directly from the manufacturer with all the options my Dad had in mind. Believe me when I say this kind of thing is rare among mobility dealers in Raleigh. He even beat the Amazon price.Dave was a great guy to work with. Dripping with honesty and a genuine interest in doing right by customers. Easy to get a hold of. Patient, friendly, and clearly takes pride both in his business and in helping people.Last time I was in the shop I walked in on the tail end of him finalizing a sale of a pretty sweet looking race-car yellow wheelchair to a young kid thatd broken his leg. Both the mom and the little dude in his new wheels seemed very pleased. Gotta love a scene like that.

Mobility City of Wake County and the owner Dave changed my life! That is not an exaggeration. I had knee surgery and was given crutches. After a few hours and a couple of falls I knew I couldnt make it four weeks like that. I started to freak out and didnt know what I needed. I found Mobility City of Wake County on Google and read all the positive reviews. I sent an email and Dave got back to me immediately. I didnt know what I needed so we discussed my situation and how I would be using the chair and he recommended an amazing power wheelchair. It was delivered the same day!!! The chair works perfectly for me and is so comfortable and easy to control. I was worried that as a larger person I wouldnt be able to be comfortable in a wheelchair. The rental price was excellent/competitive and I couldnt have been happier with the product. I went from depressed and scared to hopeful all in one day because Dave and his wife care so much. They are the ideal small business owners. Two days later I reached out to Dave and also rented a lift chair to help me during my recovery. By that evening he delivered and setup a beautiful chair (see photo) that is like new. I will be using Mobility City of Wake County for any future mobility needs as will my parents. They are beyond impressed with the excellent service and products. My Dad may be a little jealous of my power wheelchair and priced out his own to buy. :)

Id ordered a hospital bed for my mom, but the contracted delivery company dropped off the boxes without assembling or setting it up. After weeks of trying to get them to pinpoint a suitable appointment for us, I decided to just call Mobility City. I spoke to Dave and explained that I wanted to hire an independent team to come by and set up the bed. Dave was very understanding and took up the task with enthusiasm. He was very easy to work with and responsive. When his guys arrived to do the job, they were on-time, courteous, professional and made sure everything was working properly before they left. It was a job well done! A+ work.

We went by to purchase batteries for my wife scooter. They didnt have our size , but the gentleman there called another business found them and got us a discount. He was very helpful and courteous.

AMAZING!!! I would have given them more stars if I could have... my daughter has a brain tumor and a lot of side effects not just from the cancer, but from the radiation as well. She has gone thru quite a bit the past five years, and recently we needed a ramp as she lost her ability to walk almost overnight. I was scrambling to get her a ramp and getting nowhere. Every day for over a month I spoke to insurance companies, ramp and medical device companies, social workers, etc. and continued to come up empty. My eight year old had already missed three weeks of school because I physically could not get her down our four front cement steps and just when I had about given up, by chance I googled ramps again- VOILA! Mobility City of Wake County popped up and information on a mobile stair lift. I called the company, and Dave, the owner spoke with me at length about all of my concerns. The bottom line is instead of a ramp, Dave suggested the mobile stair lift which is simply amazing! It’s like a ramp you can take with you everywhere you go- and the best part is... it folds up and weighs only 42 pounds!!! Dave ordered the mobile chair lift and brought it to us already assembled within a week at most and gave us the “white glove treatment.” He made sure we knew how to use the chair, and watched us using it making sure we knew what we were doing and felt safe doing it before he left. I literally can’t say enough about this company ... the other so called ramp specialists not only never showed up to our scheduled appointment, but they called me last Monday (two months after it was scheduled to be delivered) to let me know they finally got the ramp into the warehouse. I simply laughed and said we didn’t need it anymore. Please call Dave at Mobility City for any of your medical equipment needs... I guarantee you won’t regret it!

We have a veteran father who has been very discouraged. After working with these amazing people we were able to buy a scooter that has turned things around for him. He is a new person. He still has a lot of limitations but he is excited to live and has been outside about every other day because he is so wiped out after he goes outside riding on the scooter. Amazing service. I cant say enough about Dave and Mobility City. I had to find something quick when my Dad had a stroke. I had some specific requirements and a lot of questions. I couldnt find what I needed locally without having to wait weeks for it to be ordered and couldnt get a response at all after hours or over the weekend. Within a very short period of time, he helped us pick out the perfect option, personally delivered my Dads electric wheelchair to his home, and trained the family on how to operate and care for it. Had a wonderful experience working with Mobility City of Wake County. We rented a lift chair for my mother to use over Christmas break because she spends so much time at our house, I wanted her to be comfortable. The chair was great and the service was outstanding.

My mother in law lives with us and has a lift chair that recently quit. The lights worked and it made sound so I thought it could be repaired. I had no other choice but to just Google search someone to repair it. Thankfully Mobility City of Wake Forest came up. I called and got Mr Dave on the phone. I gave him make and model and with in a week he had parts and on way to check out her chair. Mr Adam came for the repair and was amazing. He found the problem and even checked out a loaner chair someone had gave us! Then after repairs he helped switch out the chairs and get back everything back in place. These days great service and trust means alot and that is just what I got from them. I will be keeping his info to share with other families!I give them 5 stars plus!!!

My 9 y/o granddaughter has brain cancer and besides being 90% blind, she has not been able to walk. This meant that she had to be carried up and down stairs to leave the house. We looked at ramps but found them expensive, bulky and permanent. Dave provided an alternative-- a transporter that climbs stairs! Not only did it do the job, it was also portable. Dave delivered it and took all the time needed for us to be comfortable with using it. Dave is just a nice guy, period. I have CP all my 69 yrs and have dealt with alot of different of providers for the disabled. Dave is one of those rare people that actually CARE about the people he is dealing with. This is the absolute best place to get help with mobility devices in Raleigh! I stumbled upon Mobility City through a google search when my mothers drive scooter broke last year and now I wont go anywhere else for help. Dave is super responsive and customer-focused, prices are reasonable, and the team is very technically skilled. When Dave had to take Moms scooter to the shop to fix, she was able to get a loaner so that she didnt lose mobility. Her scooter was back within a few days. Its a relief to know that great service like this is still available!

If you have a mobility scooter and dont know where to get it fixed or how to even start, THIS is the place to go!!! I had 2 scooters, one Amigo and one Golden, that I really needed to run well as I used them for different situations. I dont have the money to buy a brand new scooter. I even got approved through insurance to get a new scooter but the only scooters available through the insurance vendor did not meet my needs. So, I really needed my old ones fixed so I could keep up with life. Dave has been FANTASTIC!!! He responded quickly! He picked up my scooters and delivered them when they were finished. His rates are very reasonable. He loves what he does and it shows in his responsiveness, care, concern and professionalism. He found parts for my 1999 scooter, and quickly at that! I cannot say enough good things about Dave and Mobility City of Wake County!!! I told him if he moves he has to text me and let me know. Those of us who depend on our scooters know when need a person we can count on to keep them running and Dave and Adam are the men to get it done!! I told him he has to let me know if he changes locations so I will know where to go! He also sells used scooter and other mobility equipment. His location is easily accessible. I’m so thankful for finding Mobility City of Wake County. Not only did they repair the brakes on my mobility scooter but they also repaired some other minor things I didn’t even mention. They were timely, courteous and kept me informed about the repairs and cost which were very reasonable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them or use them again if need be.

These people saved me when I was in dire need. My wheelchair died on me, it was after 5:00 and we had just started stay at home orders. No one was answering the phone. I am an above knee amputee and my chair is a necessity. They not only came out to get my chair to repair but also brought me a loaner to use in the interim. We needed to rent a motorized hospital bed and found Mobility City via a Google search. Dave got back with me promptly with a quote and gave us a great price for a brand new bed. They were able to deliver and setup the bed within just a few days and the setup was quick and hassle-free for us. They kept in touch when we got closer to the rental period being over to offer to extend the rental or return the bed. When we needed to renew for another month they renewed at the same price. The return process of the bed was just as easy. Adam took care of dismantling everything very quickly. Dave, Adam, and Nancy were all very nice and polite and made for a great experience. Dave is a very nice guy and works hard to get what you need. The shop is very clean and he has pretty good deals on not just wheelchairs but scooters and walkers. He even has the new walker that allows you to stand up to your full height and walk instead of bending over. He also has a large assortment of canes.

His cast will have to be on for 9 weeks and he cannot bear any weight on it.
