Today Dr. Virag denied my husbands surgery because she deemed it non emergent. My husband had a heart attack in December 2018 which resulted in CABG x 5, AICD, and now a 6 blood clot in his popatial artery which has left him with 5% blood flow to that leg. His Medicaid is pending. Dr. George Adams, a world renown cardiovascular surgeon, deemed surgery on his leg necessary to prevent any more complications (such as stroke or death from the clot disengaging itself). She, however, overruled the decision to perform surgery and waiving the $1000 deposit. Please tell me how Dr. Virag, a hospitalist, can overrule the decision by a world renown surgeon.
