Horrible customer service. I cancelled my account over a month ago and they continued to charge me without my knowledge and are still making me pay for it even though I haven’t used the gym in months. 10/10 would not recommend. They’re are way better gyms in the area to give your money to.

Great gym, but no more cell phones in the gym. Members are lounging on the equipment texting, watching videos, recording, taking photos. Today, one member set up his cell phone on a tripod to video everyone in the weight room. Another guy lounged on the equipment watching videos. It is getting hard to work out when the equipment is taken up by people lounging not there to work out.

Decent mainstream gym. One con is that the entire establishment (not this location in particular) has piss-poor management. Enjoy the wait time trying to speak to a human being on the phone. Now, with that being said, there is plenty of equipment to accommodate a large crowd. They have an entirely separate room for CrossFit and other more varied styles of training. The big bonus for me is that they have a sauna AND a steam room at this location. The locker rooms are open but unfortunately due to COVID the sauna and steam room are still closed. Looking forward to when they are open again.

Great membership rates (even for nationwide) and plenty of equipment at all locations I have used. Did personal training for several months with Tiana, which was very beneficial. Cannot speak to other trainers at Fitness Connection, but she has a masters in physical therapy and helped me evolve my gym workouts to build functional strength and restore mobility to make me feel better in my day-to-day and improve performance in my sports activities. Training included interaction and resources provided through their online portal so that I could build on our sessions and work on nutrition on my own time.

Got a membership because my sister did. The customer service is always amazing and we are always greeted and it feels welcoming. Sanitation stations are literally every five steps away from each other and the staff always keep it full. Locker rooms are literally spotless and I always see a staff member check it. Very spacious and everyone respects the rules. Also, everyone wears a mask and temperature is checked at the front door. I love the woman work out room so much as well. And there are many machines to choose from. Affordable prices and is located in a great place. Starbucks and Smoothie king are nearby. 10/10.

Was forced into this gym when Retro fitness was closed and Fitness connection bought my membership (no say in the fact I did not want to use this gym). As such I frequent this location most often, Ill go into detail but these photos display the male locker room and speak for themselves. 4 or so months of sections closed off, filthy floors and air quality, the whole 9 yards. As for the rest of the facility, its at least... large enough? Would be tolerable if the place did not seem to be held together with duct tape. Nearly weekly the Leg extension, Leg press, varying adjustable dumbbell bench seats, and machine fly machines are broken with missing bolts. Leg extension handle bolt/washer to lock the safety can be unscrewed by hand! Good luck using any cable machine and finding them with matching length D ring/carabiners (who doesnt love uneven flys). At least the turf is somewhat clean! Thanks for coming to my Ted-Talk

Fitness connection has something for everyone. They have fitness classes (such as body pump, butts & guts, total body fitness, etc.), yoga, women’s only section, movie room with bikes and other equipment. Fitness connection is filled with ample equipment and the staff is very nice. During Covid while the gym was closed, they still sent us weekly workout classes to do from home. Since their reopening, they have been super cautious. They have extra cleaning staff that are constantly wiping down the equipment. They are requiring masks and everyone’s temperature to be taken at the door. Overall, I am very happy to workout at fitness connection.

Decent and diverse equipment that works well, but the gym-goers here have the WORST gym etiquette Ive ever seen. Ive been to a lot of gyms, and these people are just horrible.• In 3 months I havent seen a single person wipe down a piece of equipment.• NO ONE reracks their weights! Do you want to use a barbell? Youll have to strip 200+lbs before you can get going.• People hogging weights. When theyre done, they just leave a half dozen dumbells there and walk away.• Super-setting on 4 machines.• Cell phone usage in the free weight area• That one guy that sings loudly to his music and drops his dumbells from shoulder-height when youre trying to hit a PRI cant speak about the staff because I got my membership free through my health insurance, but they seem to be glorified salesmen. I brought up my concerns and they were brushed aside. The cardio area is diverse, so if thats what youre here for you should be fine. But the weight room is the douchiest Ive ever seen

This gym is a corporation & not locally managed they not have a local business working number or email. There is one person for the entire corporation who handles accounts. I had to wait behind 39 callers to cancel my membership. If you do join read the agreement carefully. They raise dues without written notice &charge late fees without notice. I spent hours trying to cancel & have paid about $200 just to get to this point even though I have not been able to go into the gym since March. They actually charged the next years membership fees after I cancelled. Hoping this is finally the end of my relationship.

It’s funny how the least sanitary gym I’ve ever been a member of suddenly “cares” about their members’ health. How does forcing everyone that comes in to sign the same piece of paper (with pens that have seemingly been used dozens of times) help protect anyone from covid? It doesn’t. Removing restrooms and water is absurd in its own right but at least those almost make sense

This review is about help I received from Bobby Hall, the general manager of FC North Hills......So myself and my wife were members for a number of years at FC Pleasant Valley. One day my wife went to the gym only to find out that it had closed. We had received no notice of the closure, no email, or regular mail, etc.... Unfortunately this was the only local area location that was convenient for us to be members of. So I called FC customer service to cancel our memberships due to this and get a refund for the monthly due that was charge to us when the gym wasnt open anymore. I spoke with a lifeless, unhelpful, and downright rude customer service agent named Mariah Esperanza, who I imagine works for whatever company FC contracts to handle their central customer service (terrible choice, very poor representation of the the company whos staff at the actual gyms are very nice/helpful typically). She was completely unwilling to help refund our charge and stated that we should have received an email notifying us of the closure. Upon examining all our our emails, there was no notification sent to us and Mariah couldnt even provide any proof that an email was sent to us. We regularly receive account notifications and other emails from FC so I knew that this was likely a technical glitch on their end and that Mariah was full of it, especially since she couldnt even provide any proof that an email was sent to us. ... She even stated that since we didnt provide notice to cancel, we would be charge an additional month due. This was quite infuriating considering its hard to give cancellation notice when you arent even made aware the gym was closing .... So I reached out to the North Hills location and was put in touch with GM Bobby Hall. COMPLETELY different experience. He went out of his way to understand our situation, he let me know that many other members from Pleasant Valley had experienced the same issue with lack of notification of closure, and he went ahead and stepped in and cancelled our memberships immediately and made sure our accounts were zerod out, which he confirmed via email. This was exactly the right thing to do and really made a difference in my whole experience. If I lived closer to the North Hills location I would consider staying with FC but unfortunately I dont.. So long story short, Bobby Hall was EXCELLENT and went out of his way to correct the situations.......Fitness Connection, you really need to look into another service for your centralized customer service, people like Mariah Esperanza put a bad taste in customers mouths and tarnish what could be an otherwise excellent experience for current/former clients.THANK YOU AGAIN to Bobby Hall at North Hills for your help!

I joined this gym right before the pandemic and cancelled in March. I had gone maybe just 2 months. It seems that they just put all accounts on hold in April and once the gyms opened up they started charging again. I kept calling but couldnt get through to anyone. Every time I called it said you are caller number 92 or 68 ... Couldnt hold on for hours to talk to someone. I finally called my bank to stop the payments. They still send me texts saying my account is way over due! Now, I have to personally go in and talk with a manager to resolve the issue. Very poor customer service!

I love fitness connection but couple of things I want to note on here.During the pandemic you need to check more often who wears and who doesn’t wear a mask While working out. It is not my job to tell fellow gym member to put a mask on and get yelled at while doing so.There are ppl who don’t clean machines before and after their use. That’s simply disgusting. If we all come here to destress and enjoy our workout we should feel safe doing so.I literally asked a lady to please put a mask on and she rudely responded don’t tell me what to do.I am sure I was told if we don’t have masks on we lose the membership. But it is not about that it’s about public safety and considerations for one another during this time. Thank you

I understand NC government restrictions for NC gyms but the level of poor customer service and professionalism by one of the new nightly staff members (a female) is just appalling. It’s one thing to go around and be a “mask nanny” but your workout being interrupted every 10 min by someone yelling at you and others (especially since no other gym in the area has this strict mask rule while you’re actually doing a strenuous exercise) It’s borderline harassment. We all come to the gym to relieve stress not add to it. It was the over talking and trying to complete my sentences before I respond for me. And this is after I’ve listened to her speak. And to have her tell me I should go to another gym then is just awkward.

Some of the cardio equipment was a little unstable (inconsistent resistance, wobble). This is the last Fitness Connection location left in Raleigh. While the rates were affordable, when I add increased gas costs to get to this one (the other two were closer to my house before they were permanently closed), the total cost of membership here is higher than Planet Fitness or other competitors. Kind of sad, but I guess thats what they need to do to survive. Unfortunately, it may not work for me.

This gym looks great going in because its well equipped and has different areas where you dont feel like youre too close to the next person. There is also a Smoothie King attached to it, that makes it really easy to get your protein smoothie on the way out. The one thing I did not like was how dirty it was. UI had to use several paper towels and spray my treadmill because it had dried up sweat from the previous user. For a gym located in this area, I expected more cleanliness.

What I like is that they have classes in both the morning and evening hours, a kids room, indoor pool with sauna and hot tub, and love the movie room. The staff is always nice and willing to help. Todd was able to discuss their fitness coaches (not in my budget right now but helpful). The price is perfect as well. It starts at $9.99 and goes from there. My wife has a different one than I do due to the kids. Brent is very responsive in emails too. Give them a try. First off, I love how the owner responds to every poor review by saying ‘sorry for your disappointment, please give us a call’. Don’t call, they will just talk your ear off and do nothing to improve the gym atmosphere! My friend had a guest pass since this was my first time visiting Raleigh in ten years. We only wanted to go to a fitness class once. My friend and her sister both have memberships. The black male receptionist with round glasses at the front desk who had round glasses was really nice but he was iffy about letting my friend use the guest pass. He said I need to sign up and go through the registration process. I suggested to him I’m from out of town visiting a friend so there is no need to waste our time or theirs having to go through that. He seemed cool with it but said he still had to get his supervisor. I felt bad for him. This black female lady with short hair wearing a black jacket said she could not grant me a free pass for an hour and asked us to leave. She said she is doing her job and that was it. That being said we asked her politely but there was absolutely no chance. My friend who was there politely said she spent quite a bit of time and money on their personal training sessions and it would have been nice if they could just grant us the free pass only once since she was able to in Cary a few times. The supervisor said she would require me to sign up for a membership, though I don’t live in in NC! The supervisor said that the three of us were rude and disrespectful as well! Which was absolutely not true, that was a lie! She kept talking and talking trying to make a point but she didn’t make any sense. We could sense in the air she was trying to pull a slick racist card based on her attitude. Regardless that was the poorest customer service experience we ever had. It was so bad that my two friends decided they will be putting in a request to cancel their memberships to go to Planet Fitness because of her.We were upset after we left, but now that I looked at their reviews on Google and Yelp, it’s a good thing we didn’t go! The pictures of their equipment are terrible. It also does not look cleanly, yuck!

After online research into the various gyms in the area, I felt that Fitness Connection might be the best option to go with. The price wasnt awful, and the website boasted several amenities that interested me.Unfortunately, the gym itself was mediocre at best. Several of the amenities listed were not available, and questions sent via the contact form on the website were never answered. The reason I am giving this 2 stars, is because the in person customer service was pretty good, the employees were welcoming and polite. Otherwise, it would have gotten 1 star.Roughly 1-2 months ago I sent in another contact form to request cancellation. The form states that you will hear back within 48 hours.I never heard back, but left it alone for awhile.I called recently just to double check that they got my request. I had not seen a charge on my account for this month yet, so I wanted to know if it had canceled and if that was why.I called the 800 number on the site, which directed me to the North Hills front desk worker, who was polite, but didnt really seem to know how to help me with my cancellation.I am not upset about any additional charges. Its really not that much money. The bad review is for the lack of consistency, unmet (and insinuated or promised) expectations, and less than subpar customer service on the corporate end.I was on hold for 15 minutes with the front desk, and was given the link to the cancel form (surprise! Its not actually easy to find unless you know the link!). To cancel, you need your name, address, phone number, and the key code on your access tag.The cancellation was originally prompted by non-use, and finding gym services elsewhere. However, the choice to cancel was strongly reinforced by the experiences with the company since originally requesting the cancellation of my account. This is one of those situations that turned my rating from dont want to go any longer buy may still recommend to friends to a would never recommend to friends or family, and would in fact do the opposite.I hope that Fitness Connection and gyms with similar customer service weak points make a better effort in the future. It doesnt surprise me now why the rating on this gym is not very high.

I recently switched to this gym after being a long time (10yr) member of PF. I switched only because of the childcare options Fitness Connection offers (hard to find time to work out with two little ones). The classes and pool might be nice too, but have not yet tried. So far my biggest complaint is cleanliness. This goes for both locations I have tried- Six Forks & North Hills. I guess I am used to PF where at least 1 employee is always cleaning and everything looks nice. So far I have not seen 1 person cleaning (though there is always plenty of staff sitting around not doing much) and the equipment reflects that. Many of the weight machines have dust caked on them and in the moving parts. You can see years of dusts on the TVs and other electrical. The cardio machines also show signs of sweat that was never cleaned off.The lack of cleaning stations for members is also disturbing. I have to search for them between sets. And, I have yet to see members clean the machines after use (Gross!). So now instead of cleaning after use I clean before use.I am hopeful that as a new member this changes, so I have given a preliminary 3 stars.

My experience so far. When I signed up, I asked what the risk reversal is...I was told that I could cancel within 30 days. I signed up for the gym and 2 personal training sessions per week. I like the trainer, but after two weeks decided that I wanted a bit more of an experience. I texted to cancel and got referred to Todd who preceded to call me and state that the 30 days is just for the gym, not the training. The bigger purchase only has a 3 day cancellation. I do not remember hearing this and yes I signed a contract being flashed across the screen. Keep in mind, I thought I had 30 days cancellation. How can you know in 3 days if you will like the personal training experience? He was fairly rude and condescending to me. He took 4 days to call me in the first place after K left a message for him and was supposed to get back with me. I did not hear from him yesterday. Are you not confident enough to offer a risk reversal for the personal training? You should be. Why isnt the cancellation policy cohesive with the gyms policy? I would have never signed up if I would have known I had only 3 days to evaluate. Keep in mind my trainer isnt the problem....I just want a structure that the gym cant offer. But...the cancellation policy being different than the gyms policy is not good business. I am still waiting for this issue to be resolved. I would have referred people just starting out with fitness to this gym, but am questioning that now. It is simple, I want to cancel my membership without penalty. I want this resolved. I notified after two weeks. I loved K that signed me up and she has been very cooperative. For personal training, I loved the guy that signed me up, but the cancellation policy was not discussed. I am starting to not love this at all. Risk reversal is something that the personal training needs to offer. Big purchase that you cannot evaluate in 3 days because they have to comply with state law which is meeting the minimum, but are not confident enough in their services to back up with a guarantee. What type of business is this? These types of things are frowned upon with the Consumer Protection Agency especially when one cancellation is fully talked about and as a consumer, you are thinking that is across the board. It is the same gym after all. I am hoping that they will step up and do what is right so that my opinion can be redeemed.

Use to be a member, USE to be a great value, and USE to love all their fitness classes like yoga, however, they do not keep the studios cleaned and they cut so many classes. I talked to their managers and got no where so I canceled membership. Typical for profit gym, not interested in customers staying customers for the long term!

I was nervous about joining this gym after seeing so many the negative reviews. But I joined anyway since the location was convenient for me. So far, after a few months, I dont have any major complaints. The place stays busy, and I usually have to wait to use the squat rack, but otherwise Im perfectly satisfied. And at $10/month, the price is good.

I wish I could give a zero! The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Todd Henry should be fired! I cant believe how unbelievably rude he was to me. Who hangs up on a customer!? Completely ridiculous, they will tell you whatever lie needed for you to sign up for there ripoff personal training, but they wont let you cancel! Andrew completely scammed me into signing a 12 month contract! Even though I have a month to month gym membership! How can I cancel my gym membership at anytime, but still be forced to pay for personal training at that gym for a year!? SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

I have been going to this gym over a year now and it has really stepped up the game - I could not complain about one thing! Brand new turf room (amazing), so much space and equipment (equally amazing) but the real stars are the staff! All of them, especially front desk are smiling, attentive and professional.

Ive visited most every gym in Raleigh and landed here. If you want a gym where you can go and just have a stress-free workout this is it. Nice equipment and no real waiting, even from 5-7pm. Ive never run into a problem member. I like to go to the gym, do my thing and go - this is the place for that. The staff is all good and never pesters. If you prefer personalized workouts you can get it here as well. People always get out of the trainers way. I like the place and have no interest in checking leaving any time soon. If you prefer the club and locker room experience then pay 10x more and go somewhere else.

So. I joined fitness connection over a year ago and loved it. I brought friends, I recommend people and because I was loving it lost a good amount of weight. I went to crossfit mid December and froze my account in march or freaking they said I did. Today I got billed for all the months that my account was supposed to be frozen. When I called there was nothing that could be done because I couldnt track the email they sent me in march. Then he informs me that it doesnt matter how much you use the gym but you still get billed. And I informed him that I understood that but my account was FOZEN so I wasnt going AT ALL. So now, Im out over 170 dollars and I have to pay for the last month to cancel. They also told me to call corporate but didnt tell me they werent open today. Management here is pitiful. Never in my life have I had to deal with this.If they cant keep up with both clubs and what members are doing then you need to get something together. I will never recommend fitness connection to anyone, I will post this story on my online fitness form, and all my friends are not also giving up their memberships and if youre reading this I suggest you read all the details before you join. So, Brent--please think about honest and consistent customers before you tell your staff that there isnt anything you can do.

I truly wish there was a rating less than 1-star reserved for the worst of the worst. This gym fits that parameter. I can probably get past many of the issues such as dirty bathrooms, customer NO-service at the front desk, broken equipment, bad smells, floors that havent been swept in ages, and so forth. But where I draw the line is at Sam (last name withheld due to basic common courtesy - but if you go to this gym you know who Sam is), the worlds most useless gym manager. I have submitted multiple basic requests for service. Like, how about cleaning the dead animal from the bathroom? Ok, not literally a dead animal. But you get the point. Every time I get the same thing from Sam: barely an acknowledgement. He could care less. He spends his strutting around the gym, harassing clients, and leering at women. He has a reputation among those who work out at North Hills - and its not a good one. I once personally witnessed him heckle a weight lifter. How a manager gets away with this sort of behavior is beyond me.Dont even think about going to this gym. Seriously. If you are reading this, just stop considering Fitness Connection right now. Try any one of the many other gyms in this area (Fitness 19, Rapid Fitness, Forged Fitness, Raleigh Barbell). Heck, go workout in your back yard. Its better than going to Fitness Connection.

Fitness Connection offers a really good value. Most the staff are engaging and helpful. But they recent stopped providing cloth towels to members. Ive noticed many members not wiping down the equipment since they started doing this. I have my own towel but most people dont. This decision confuses me. 1 star until they fix this easy to fix problem.

I have been member for many years. It is great for the price. I cannot understand people talking about unfriendly staff. I have never seen or heard anything untoward. The only gripe I have is that faulty equipment takes too long to get repaired. The steam room is often out of order which is a major disappointment for me. The dry sauna is never hot. Part of the reason is that the door has gaps and lets the hot air out but the main reason is that the heating grates which should be really hot, are always luke warm. I have never seen a sauna like that and I cannot understand how people accept it.

Go in with the right expectations. This is a low monthly fee with no perks included type gym. The facility has a separate womens only area and child care service. If youre looking for a high-touch experience, this isnt it, but if you need access to a bunch of equipment and a pool to stay fit, this place meets the requirements at a modest monthly price. The general vibe is that you know what youre doing when you come in- you will have to ask for help if you need it, and they will try to sell personal training. Peak hours are super busy, off peak hours are mostly empty.

Fitness Connection was good when I first joined but now it has gone way down hill... The steam room is down every other week for multiple days, the hot tub has been broken for over a month now and has dirt piling at the bottom, nasty sight to see... They no longer offer hand towels, and are now selling blue branded ones for $3... I guess people truly are getting what they pay for now. Not sure of the last time theyve cleaned out the sauna or steam room... I hope you guys improve because its a nice gym otherwise.

Since moving to Raleigh, I frequent this location most often. Its exactly what you expect from a commercial gym with cheap membership fees and an unlimited guest fees. Their best asset is the turf room - 4 squat racks, kettle weights, trx, peg wall, and space for agility ladders, box jumps, and more. Pay close attention to busy hours, otherwise make do with the little space a equipment available to you.

Moving to the area and looking for a new gym, saw 5 day free trial advertised, called and was told to come in and they’ll sign me up. I have a very busy schedule, Show up to speak to Noah and get told I can’t do the trial because I’m not a “local” resident, a week access would be $40. Could’ve told me on the phone so I didn’t waste my time. Checked out Lifetime Fitness, better facility and much better customer service

WORST GYM EVER!!!! I am so glad I cancelled my membership with them. They would over charge me all the time. I would always have issues with my billing/account and they would always apologize for their mistakes. I decided to join Planet Fitness and my experience with them so far is better. I do miss the sauna, pool, steam room, etc but later on I will join Life Time Fitness Athletic.

I enjoy the steam room but for some reason they cannot keep a light on in there. Gives it a sketchy feel and would be a lot better if the lights were working. Every day.Nice staff but have been told the lighting maintenance group is fixing the lights right now as well as a metal guard is being built to keep people from removing the light bulb by 2 different door employees- somebody is spreading misinformation .Who can relax in a steam room when grown men need to crawl all over you in the dark to find a seat?Except for this one issue I am not at all unhappy with this club-convenient friendly and clean-But what give with the poor maintenance?

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! This company has been charging me twice a month for my membership and wont reimburse me for the extra charges! Ive been dealing with this issue for weeks and no one will return my phone calls or respond to my emails. I sent the DM, Adam Ballard, an email explaining the situation and he doesnt even have the respect, professionalism, or courtesy to even respond with an email back!! WHO IS ACTUALLY RUNNING THIS PLACE?!?! Ive been in management my entire career and cant fathom treating customers this way. No wonder the employees act the way they do when their example of leadership is coming from someone like this! What a disappointment after having a membership for over 5 years to a place I really enjoyed! All you had to do was pick up the phone and push a few buttons on a credit card machine and this could have all been resolved. Look at all your 1-star ratings with awful reviews....can this company not see the bigger picture and actually hire people who know how to properly run a business?! Worst employees, worst company, worst customer service EVER. Find a different gym to join!

Friendly staff, good work out equipment, wont bother you too much. However if your son needs a diaper change they will interrupt your work out session. If your baby is obviously hungry they wont feed him they will just distract him, not all of the people do that but its a majority. Last but not least I had children picking on my son and none of the staff members did anything. I would have said something to the parents but of course they were working out. Great gym, just day care is mediocre.

Biggest Scam Ever!I have been a member at a lot of great health clubs but this is the world’s worst. Please don’t make the same mistake I did and join this disaster. If you see this place, please start running. I finally decided to write this review after seeing this club on Wral News as the second worst company to do business with in the triangle area. No surprise to me at all. They make all these promises to you and once you sign the dotted line they will never speak to you again. All they care about is how many people they can sign up. Over half of the equipment doesn’t work and they never get around to fixing any of it. The fitness director has a thing for following all the men around when they are trying to workout. One of the sales people acted nice to me one day, which was a surprise, then they ask me if I could provide them with a list of phone numbers they could call for leads. Unbelievable! My friend was a member there and they over charged her credit card one month for over $300 and would not return her calls. It finally took her six months to get a refund. The girl that’s the manager there will not even speak to any of the members. All she cares about is how many people they can sign up that month. I had one complaint and no one ever returned any of my emails including the district manager. Trust me, this is nothing but a scam. There are so many other great gyms in the area to join. Just please don’t join this one.

Beware of the $40 annual fee, plus whatever you agreed to pay monthly, that they never tell you of when you first sign up. On top of that, if you cancel this month, you still have to pay the following month of membership, even if youre not using the gymn anymore. So in reality, you cant just cancel whenever you want to without having to pay for it.

Joined this gym because it was convenient and cheap. The place is filthy and disgusting. The equipment is not maintained. About half of the machines are broken and they are not fixed. Spoke with the manager about 6 weeks ago about broken machines and they are still broken. The locker rooms are filthy. About 10 minutes away, there is another Fitness Connection location (Raleigh/Celebration location) that is extremely clean and the staff is wonderful. The machines are well maintained. It is like night and day.

The gym itself is good. Has a good variety of equipment and its maintained. The business side of things....not so much. I was charged for 5 months for a plan that I had switched leaving me a refund of $149 which they are running me in circles to get. Ive brought in bank statements per request. I have made countless phone calls. No one has ever followed up on the refund requests. They promise to call me back and not once has that happened. So then I cancelled my cheaper plan, and they charged me again for that one too! So now I get to bring in bank statements yet again.
