Dr Shawnee Weir is my most favorite doctor in this world. I have been a patient of Dr Weir since the mid-2000s, minus several years that literally had me living in other parts of the US and the world, seeing various other doctors. Therefore, I can honestly make a proper comparison. She takes the time to listen and discuss treatment options, and she respects patient opinions and thoughts. She is also very thorough. I am primarily seen for hypothyroidism, but I have had other health issues creep into the picture, and she’s very good at looking at the entire health picture. Dr Weir is a doctor who thinks outside the normal box and treats a person for their individual needs. My life is not within the norm. Except for the bare essentials, I prefer to stay as un-medicated as possible, and she works with me on that. I currently live over 2 hours from Raleigh Endocrine Associates, and after failing to find a local endocrinologist that I’m happy with, I now drive the distance to see Dr Weir, and she’s absolutely worth it. My husband briefly needed to see Dr Weir, and he is also very happy with her. We both highly recommend Dr Weir.

Dr. Weir is friendly and open with the patient, taking the time to communicate her diagnosis with a clear explanation of the evidence that led her to it, discussing the treatment options available, and recommending what she considers the best of these while explaining why.During the consultation, she focuses on the patient, dedicating as much time to him or her as their condition warrants with no sense of rushing through the consultation in order to get to the next patient.I was impressed with her knowledge, experience, and professionalism, as well as the way she establishes a personal connection with the patient from the moment she enters the examination room, and would highly recommend her.

Dr. Weir has been my endocrinologist for 15 years. As I’ve moved to various cities, I’ve continued to drive to Raleigh to see her because I trust her completely. She listens, considers my insights, and has made all the difference in balancing my post-ablation thyroid levels. I don’t know what I’m going do when she retires!

Dr. Weir is seriously one of the best doctors I have ever known. She is very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. The biggest thing is that she ACTUALLY LISTENS to the patient. I am so impressed with her and very grateful to have found her. She is personable and down-to-earth. She really processed and thought through everything I shared with her and I didnt feel for an instant that she was giving stock answers, but that she was considering me as an individual. Dr. Weir is by far the best doctor I have seen in any practice. She listens, answers questions clearly and is very knowledgeable. I feel like I am in great hands when I need her. I am very lucky to have her on my health team. The staff at Raleigh Endocrine is great as well from the front desk, to the nurse, phlebotomist and check out desk. Sometimes the wait is longer than I would hope, but if Dr. Weir is listening to every patient and takes the time the patient needs its worth the wait. I rather wait a few minutes than be rushed along like most doctors. Love her!!

Dr Shawnee Weir is the best endocrinologist ever! I travel 4 hours (round trip) just to see Dr Weir. I have done this for over 10 years. She is truly gifted in her field of work. She has great diagnostic skills, is compassionate, caring, truly listens to you & takes her time with you during visits. Sometimes the wait is longer then expected but believe me Dr Weir is worth waiting for!

Dr. Weir is a breath of fresh air. I am so grateful to the friend who referred me here! As a woman over 40, it can be really tough to be heard at doctor visits. It feels like practitioners go directly to; aging is tough, these things happen after 40, this may be the new normal, etc. I felt heard by Dr. Weir, and by the support staff in this office, and she introduced options for my treatment that I have not heard from the physicians (including other endocrinologists) that I have seen over the past 10 years. Dr. Weir is such a wonderful doctor. She is up-to-date on the latest information in endocronology and takes the time to get the patients full health history. After struggling with Hashimotos disease for years, I made an appointment with her and she got my TSH levels back to normal in three months! Her bedside manner is fantastic. Because she took the time to get to know me and my history of trying to treat Hashimotos, she was able to try a different approach. As a result, I have been in great health for the last three years. I cant recommend her highly enough.
