I visited the North Raleigh WakeMed ER, and the team there was outstanding. Dr Heather K Lewis, M.D, Charles P, RN from Missouri and the rest of the staff treated me like I was their own Family member. Thank you for helping me last weekend. My wife & I really appreciate that. God bless you and keep doing what you do best, taking care of patients and keep saving lives.

My daughter has been to the EDs for most major hospitals in the triangle area and while all were good and treated her well this visit was her first as an adult so we were concerned. We were met with a kind receptionist and quickly taken to triage where this staff member acted with so much compassion. She heard Hanna’s health ordeal and quickly went through her routine acknowledging Hannas condition was not good. She quickly got us back to a room in the Emergency Dept where the nurses, PA and staff took quick and compassionate care of her. They had a protocol requiring 2 IVs and they completed their task with such ease it was amazing to watch. When they took Hanna for her scan the transport people were friendly and caring. After the CT scan when Hanna objected to an chest X-ray (due to the many she has had) the staff member understood returned her to the room thoroughly explaining the details to the day staff who had just started. Mariam (I believe) was our nurse and, like the night staff, she was caring and always careful to explain what was happening with a phenomenally professional yet maternal attitude. Our physician was also really impressive, she took time to be so thorough and followed up with us at each step. I cannot say enough about how much this visit meant to us. We have had to deal with all types of healthcare providers and while most are great this entire group was something to admire. I would quickly and easily chose Wake Med North ED anytime needed. As a self described “expert” this group was the very best at every turn.

The worst ER ever. Went there with chest pain and difficulty breathing. They took some vitals and blood. And said the results will come out after 20 minutes. I waited for an hour and half and finally told them to remove that IV that they left in my arm the whole time so I can go home. They said ok bye took the IV out and never gave my my results no doctor was ever brought in to see me. I left that ER with chest pain and difficulty breathing as I entered. Do not go there.

My daughter, 18, came in with a laceration on her hand. We were there for over 4hrs and she was not provided any pain medication. There were triage nurses that looked at her hand. She was in shock and almost passed out, so they put her on a stretcher in the hall way. She cried for hours and no one provided my daughter any pain medication. This was not just a little cut. She had an estimated of 40 stitches. The nurses were nice and the PA did an ok job but he still would not provide anything for pain. The overall concern about my daughter was not there, except for 1 nurse that was in Triage. She also couldnt understand why they would not give her anything. Her adrenaline was at max and was in shock and pain. I might not be exact on time or # of stitches because I cant remember. I understand if they were busy, but again this was not just a small cut. The PA that saw here came in and said I just got here and was told I had to see her and come to find out that didnt even have her information in the system. Lets just say I was extremely upset and disappointed in the lack of concern for my daughter. We have to go see an orthopedic doctor on Friday. Thats how serious this was. Again, everyone makes mistakes but when I address the nurses several times of the pain and still no response that is unacceptable.

The worse experience of my life. Waited and the doctor never came in the room except to say we found nothing. A waste of time. From 8pm until 5:30am in a room. Just sickening.

A family member recently went to Wake Med North ED for symptoms related to covid & pneumonia. He did not have to wait an unreasonable amount of time to be triaged. All the doctors, nurses, and staff we’re kind and genuine in their care for him. Due to covid policy, I wasn’t allowed to stay, BUT nurses & staff were helpful when I called to check his status.

Charged me $3,580.91 to give me a leg brace, crutches, and push opiates on me. Awful, overpriced care and they made no attempt to examine my knee and determine the severity of the injury. I got less than 10 minutes of care, and was in the emergency room for about 30. I didnt even see an actual doctor.

I went to the ER after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, and the advice of my primary care physician to ensure I wasnt having a serious reaction. The ER department is very good at staffing the front end (registration, LPN for vitals, and security), but seems like they dont want to provide that same level of service for the clinical evaluation, except for registration who comes to your room to collect your co-pay. They get you back to a room quickly, but after that, you need to take a long nap. There is no excuse to wait 3 hours for a simple diagnostic test. They do put a small graph of the wait time for tests/procedures in the corner, but no verbal communication. They should change the name of their department, because its not an Emergency Room. After 3 hours, I decided to leave. So, I understand having physician assistants and nurse practitioners to deliver healthcare at a lower cost, but seems like WakeMed is not willing to staff one of the most important departments in the hospital.

I have been waiting here in pain for over an hour! Triage nurse said she need to check one patient and then would start an IV. She has taken 5 patients who are visibly not in pain, before me!She also recognizes most of them so, treating ER like doctors office!

Ive been to WakeMed North Emergency Department twice since it opened. The first time for what I was certain was a panic attack (it was), and today for severe pain from a kidney stone. The staff have always been wonderful, kind, patient, and efficient. Ive always been seen quickly, and received quality, compassionate care. A big thank you to everyone in their ED there!

Very kind and attentive staff, from the front desk personnel to the ER physicians and nurses.Even though the ED was very busy on the night I was there, they seemed to triage their cases in a methodical manner. Every last person I encountered was very understanding and professional. Very clean and spacious waiting area (surely to be appreciated nowadays with social distancing) and private bays in the treatment area. If you have to go the ED, which surely isnt anyones first choice, this facility is as good as they come!

I injured myself on June 21 and was taken to Wake Med North, just a few minutes from my home. I had a broken ankle that required x-rays then a splint. I was treated promptly, received adequate pain relief throughout my evaluation plus felt the staff exhibited a comforting level of knowledge and expertise. Since I’m a former ER nurse I can definitely recommend this Wake Med North location.

There are no words to express my appreciation for the kind and swift service that I received at Wake Med North today. I went in with an allergic reaction. I was greeted and treated by people who were personable and efficient. Everyone seemed happy to do their job, and they really cared about me. I was able to get in and out in good time, and I received relief. I am eternally grateful for such an incredible emergency room.
