I would give zero stars if I could. I went in for my first wax with the European Wax Center a week ago and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. When I first got there, I was told I was not eligible for the free wax for your first visit they advertise because my license is from Florida. Meanwhile, I have EWC in Florida….Then, the tech tells me that my hair is too short to wax but she would try a test strip and see if it works. She does the test strip and tells me that it should be fine because hair came up, and then she proceeded to do both legs. After I got home that night I realized that both legs had long strips of hair where the tech missed, as well as stubble all over my legs, as if I shaved the day before. I called EWC to see what they recommend and I was told a manager would call me back that night. Never received a phone call. I called back the next morning and was told a manager would call me back by 12:30. By 3pm I was tired of waiting and called yet again. The manager was hesitant to speak with me but after waiting she finally talked to me. She suggested I come back in for another wax which doesn’t make sense because now most of the hair is definitely too short and it wasn’t doable because I’m not in NY at this time. I asked for a full refund since I paid for a service and did not receive that service that I paid for. She said no. So I asked for cooperates number and was told she doesn’t know the number, which again, does not make sense to me. After looking up the number myself, I sent a lengthy email about my experience, again asking for a full refund. I have not heard from anyone. I wouldn’t be so annoyed if it wasn’t that much money, but I spent $97 for literally nothing. The hair didn’t come off, and I still have little pieces of wax on my legs that have yet to come off a week later… 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND this company as it’s clear they do not care about their customers and are just interested in taking their money.

The staff here are polite and quick. I never have to wait long for my appointment. The wax staff are very professional and put their customers at ease during a procedure that makes a person feel really vulnerable. I love the wax pass, which allows me to come in and not think about it.

My experience here was great! The receptionists could have surely been a bit more welcoming and friendly, but that did not hinder my visit too much. They just seemed a bit unhappy to be there. But I was there for three waxing services and could not have been more pleased. Samantha was amazing! She made me feel very comfortable and she was just so sweet and kind. She cared to ask me if the temperature was okay and even explained how the wax is made and how it does not attach to your skin like at the nail salons. I also left with two retail products by her recommendation and was beyond pleased with the value I received for my buck. Would recommend! :-)

Went to European wax center for the first time, and they were so professional. I was first greeted by Nicki she was a doll took my temp and told me to wait for Samantha. I was called very quickly and Samantha was great! She was talking to me the whole time so my mind wouldnt be on the wax lol Very clean establishment and they were following all of the covid precautions.. I will def be back!

I had a Brazilian wax today with Brianna and she was amazing! She made the experience very comfortable, was so friendly and kept the conversation going and the wax was flawless! All the hair was gone and it was one of the most painless waxes I’ve ever had, it didn’t hurt at all! Highly recommend Brianna for your waxes!!

My legs look like a teenagers face. This is my first time at the European Wax Center but not the first time getting waxed. I have no idea what they did to me. Getting dressed is so painful.

First off I love my bikini wax. First timer. the girls were amazing on the phone explaining everything, as soon as I walked in the door, and on the wax table. So so kind and friendly. I was super nervous but they made this enjoyable. I went for the complimentary wax but I will definitely be returning.

I recently went to the Poughkeepsie EWC, and I absolutely love it! I havent been to EWC in a few years, but Miranda made me feel right at home again. The A.C. unit wasnt working, so getting a full body wax wasnt ideal, but she did a fantastic job! I highly recommend her!

Shout out to Mia, you are amazing! Waxing is never a pleasurable experience, but you made it soothingly tolerable. Thank you for your ability and expertise!! Do t not waste you time or money going anywhere else, the European wax center is simply the top!

I came on here to rave about my experience at this center. I have been coming to the Poughkeepsie location for 2 years now and I saw that some Karen complained that they turned her away for having a temp. First I am glad that they turned away someone who could possibly infect the entire center and shut it down. I had to go 3 months without getting waxed and would hate for one entitled person who insists that she isnt sick to ruin one of the few ways I get to treat myself. If I have a temp and am turned away, Ill be bummed I cant get waxed but they dont charge you to reschedule, so I dont get what the big deal is.With that out of the way, I would like to say that I have seen several different waxers at this location and every experience has be great. They get me in and out and on with my day. I find the front desk staff to be understanding and accommodating when I have had to reschedule, as I mentioned earlier they dont charge you if you have to reschedule. If I could give more stars I would.

When I arrived, they took my temperature which read 99 degrees. The woman claimed that I had a fever. 99 is NOT a fever. I informed the woman that it was a hot day (It was 95 degrees outside) and they had the customers waiting outside to check in while they were in the AC. Of course, everyone’s temperature might read a tad higher than normal because of the weather and the fact that we have to wear masks. However, 99 degrees is still not a fever and is normal. The woman got very snarky with me and had an attitude and said, “I wear a mask all day too.” Yes, but you’re still inside with the AC on not standing outside. I left and returned approximately seven minutes later. The woman took my temperature again and—surprisingly my “fever” was gone. I never had a fever, and if I did, why would it be gone in seven minutes? Why even bother being open if you’re going to turn all of your customers away and claim they have a “fever”. I witnessed four women after me got turned away for the same thing. They might turn you away for the same thing.EDIT: After I posted this review critiquing this business, they locked my account on the app. Lol.

This is really a nice place. They should really advertise more. This is my new wax spot. Make it yours too.

As a guy, and a first time customer my whole experience was pleasant. The receptionists were friendly and extremely helpful. As for the service, I only got my eyebrows done (which are free for first time customer) by Melissa. She was great, she was very welcoming, and took time to explain their 4 step process. They do try to push their products but thats expected as its a business after all. They arent to aggressive with it, and are very subtle about it.

Ask for Breanna, you will be so happy you did! And the front desk staff are always very pleasant. Highly recommend this location.

Everyone here is great. Tori is great. Samantha and Stephanie are my back ups. Janine is professional and an absolute sweetheart. I always enjoy coming here. Anika is another professional lady who answers the phones and confirms appointments.

Theyre always nice here. I always have the same girl. Professional and clean. It is more expensive than just going to a nail salon or something but honestly this place is cleaner than any of those places. The wax also doesnt irritate my skin and I dont get any of the bumps or swelling after a wax. They also dont reuse the popsicle sticks from other people and wear gloves.

Stephanie is just wonderful! Shes so kind and is very thorough in her work. I always leave feeling great. The staff is lovely as well. Ive never had a bad experience here!

I can’t tell you how many bad experiences I’ve had here. Even after bringing my concerns to the manager nothing is ever done. I’ve tried seeing several different girls for waxing and it’s one nightmare after another. So much so that I forfeited my packages. I tried speaking with the manager and not only did she refuse to give me any kind of refund but she also denied me using it toward products they sell. Stay away from EWC POUGHKEEPSIE!!!!!

This was my first major wax/first visit to EWC, and I have to say Im impressed. The place is clean, and has such a friendly atmosphere. Kelly was fantastic and gentle with me, and very knowledgeable about the after care. Im definitely coming back next time I need a wax!!

Highly Recommend the Poughkeepsie European Wax Center location. The staff was very friendly and inviting since it was my first time at their location. The ladys working the front desk checked me in right away and explained all of what they offer at their location! I had a brazilian was done for the first time and was super nervous. Nicolette was very inviting and made me feel very comfortable when entering the waxing room. She introduced herself and told me not to worry, that I just needed to relax and think about being in a nice place. She went over each step so I knew what the process was. As she was waxing she asked how I was feeling and if I was comfortable. She was very skilled at what she does and she took the time to explain everything she was doing. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. Before leaving Nicolette introduced me to a body wash they sell that minimizes hair growth which was a good price ($20) for what the product offers. I was also given a free sample on my way out by their receptionist! Their prices are very good and I got 1/2 off on my first visit! I was very pleased with their services and I will be returning in 3 weeks for my next wax. If you are looking for a good wax in a sensitive area they also offer sensitive wax!

This place is very warm and professional.The staff is really nice from the front desk to the waxers. Ive been to a few of them and honestly no difference. They all have their own specialty but Im glad theres a few businesses like this left in the Hudson Valley where everyone knows your name if youre a local customer.

I’ve heard good things about EWC, and was in desperate need of a brow shaping/wax after a bad experience with a threader, so figured I’d take advantage of the free first time client eyebrow wax and try them out.Everything was clean, and the receptionist was friendly and helpful.I doubt I will be returning.I asked for my brows to be cleaned up; very clearly requested to leave them as thick, natural, and full as possible.While they aren’t pencil thin, they are much thinner than my preference, and thinner than they needed to be, given how much growth I came in with (about 7 weeks worth).Of course I smiled, said they looked great, and got up. You can’t add hair back when it’s already pulled out.I wish the waxer told me that she was applying something on me *before* she did it - not only do I have some allergies and some strong scent preferences due to migraine triggers, but I also have lash extensions that need oil-free care. But, again, can’t ask someone to please not use it (or what the ingredients are) if they’re telling you what they’re using AS they’re applying it.There is a hard product push after the service. I suspect that the waxer knew I wasn’t super happy, because she immediately showed me a brow powder. I told her that I don’t wear makeup, and am not interested in filling in my brows, but she again pushed me on a brow mascara. Fortunately I can say “no thank you” very easily, but I suspect that some people would have caved and purchased a product that they may not have been interested in.

Ive been getting my back and chest waxed here for years. It is refreshing to find a clean friendly place that specializes in body waxing. Keep up the good work ladies!!!!

I read good reviews before I came for the first time this weekend but was EXTREMELY disappointed. I came in for a Brazilian wax and they did a HORRIBLE job. I was in and out in 6 minutes, which lead me to think they were more concerned with getting the job done quickly but not efficiently!! It was so bad I went next door to Hand and Stone Salon and Spa for them to fix it. Ive never had such a bad bazillion in my life ! Never again ! The only positive thing was they were very kind but even then didnt offer to resolve the issue!!!

All of the ladies are great! Brianna was incredible, she holds a conversation which makes you much more comfortable. 10 out of 10, would recommend!

So I happed to be on the side of the river today and I knew my appointment was coming up for my regular waxing service, then I recalled my esthetician mentioned that she worked at this location as well. I called to see if she was there and BOOM she was! I had an appointment within an hour and my service was there was just as super as it was at their location in Kingston, Love you guys, you rock!

First time doing a brazilian and could not have done it any where else but here! The lady was very helpful, and professional. Definitely recommend!!

From the moment I walked into EWC I knew I was in for a treat. Not only was the place beautifully decorated, but the girls at reception were super friendly, professional and knew what they were talking about. I had a great appointment with esthetician Jamika who was down to earth, friendly and did an excellent job on my eyebrows, lip and chin. She managed to make me feel totally at ease and in safe hands the entire 20-25 minutes it took to complete the process.What initially attracted me to this wax center was the fact that first time guests get offered a complimentary wax service. Happy to say that after my initial visit, I found prices to be reasonable and reflect the quality of the product and service. Its also nice to see that they do still offer monthly promos such as complimentary brow hours, buy one service get a new service at 50% off as well as skin care packages, etc.I will definitely be returning for all of my waxing needs in the future and fully recommend that you go experience EWC for yourself.
