Awesome store, yes! Great selection of shoes with a unmatched return policy. All the employees are helpful, courteous and nice. However, Richard in the shoe department is hands down one of the most stand out, top notch, spot on, professional customer serves reps I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Richards product knowledge is over the top and his knowledge will make all the difference between buying a shoe or acquiring the right footwear..Go no where else to buy your footwear, and be sure to ask for Richard! You can not go wrong! Five stars does not do Richards Customers service Justice..Big thanks Richard!
Such a great store. The staff are incredibly friendly. They will measure you for the perfect backpack, assist with getting boots that go with your next adventure, determine the best sleeping bag for your needs and so much more!
Friendly, courteous and engaging, my shopping experience was a very pleasant one. In my 25m walk around the store, at least 6 associates asked if I needed help. In each and every section there was a smiling associate ensuring a great visit to REI. Will definitely recommend and return in the future.
Excellent How to ride a bike class. My son didn’t know how to ride a bike. After two hours of excellent training by the trainers Michelle, Steve and Matt, he now knows how to ride with confidence and he is excited about riding his new bike. The store had great customer service too! We are now fans of REI and will go there often! Thank you to the trainers!!
The people here are fantastic. Actual hikers, backpackers and outdoors people, and so kind and helpful too. Jeff in particular here went above and beyond to help us pick out the perfect camping gear for out needs. Couldnt say enough nice things about Jeff!
There is a guy in the bike shop at this store who is completely awesome! I felt really dumb bringing in one of my road bike tires because I couldn’t get the tire off the rim to fix a flat. He mentioned that he’s been working there for decades (and just returning from sabbatical)—well, they are seriously lucky to have this guy bc he helped me learn something new & really valuable—taught me a few (new) tricks on tire repair. Thank you REI for employing high quality, knowledgeable people—really makes a difference!!!!
Arrived when they opened. Mark helped me find the boots I wanted. They didnt have my size, so they ordered and I picked up at store. From trying on boots to recieving them, the process was very smooth. Mark is a terrific service person who knows what hes talking about. Will look for him again when its time for more shoes!!
I really love shopping here. The quality is excellent and very good values. Great selection. All the employees are very helpful and friendly. The selection can’t be beat.
1st time shopper. Clean organized and plenty of sale associates on the floor to help you. Every register was open with friendly helpful people. Great assortment in each area! Will be going again.
Excellent attention to detail is what I experienced in the cycle shop at REI. Craig helped me with a rather complex issue. He was patient and thorough. I got a great education. It was sort of shocking to see how much Craig cares about doing his work to the highest standard. He really goes above and beyond. REIs bike shop will be the ONLY place to take my bike from now on. Thank you Craig!
Beautiful store. Good staff. High quality but often more than I am willing to spend. The quality generally justifies price. I havent ever purchased anything at either location and not been satisfied. I like the shoe/boot footbeds and usually have in all shoes. Shoes are usually well fitted, comfortable and last. With Covid some stock maybe on ships or containers on land.
This company had everything we needed. Found the perfect climbing shoes, head lights and the most comfortable hiking pants actually bought 4 (they are not cheap, was worth the money spent!).
The place is not what it use to be. Over priced and REI has a lot of competition in the outdoor market - with buying directly from the company. They are to have to rethink there pricing and store outline. Looks the same as 2000. I am a big outdoor person, and I might go here to see the products - but then just buy them online. To many staff members walking around bothering you. Never Again!
Love my experience coming in here. I drove 40 minutes from Goodyear to Phoenix to get here and look at everything! It was great to be around friendly like minded people. Everyone was very helpful, and there was so much to look at. 100% recommend coming here.
I needed new boots. They didnt have the ones I needed so the employee found them on their website and gave me a ticket with all of the necessary info to take to customer service. I was able to get my boots at the sale price. They will be shipped directly to me. Excellent customer service.
It was a great experience. Taylor was OUTSTANDING with her assistance in the hiking boot selection.
Have enjoyed REI for ever. If shed have me i would marry the girl.Great staff, great business model. Great products. Its important to try on and touch the equipment before you buy. Thank you
Had a good clerk help me get new shock cord for my REI quarter dome tent.
Im pretty sure every staff member knows everything about everything in the store.. if your smart, youll check out the upstairs. Thank me later!
I found the shoes I was looking to try out and my visit went well. I was gonna buy them online but I wanted to make sure they fit properly so I planned a quick stop and I’m glad I did because I needed a half size down. Unfortunately I needed up waiting around an hour because whatever system they were using totally failed to text me when it was my turn to do a shoe fitting which kinda sucked. Great service though.
We love shopping at REI. The staff is always very helpful. My husband was looking for new hiking sticks and they explained all of the different features.
I like shopping here because of the quality of clothing. I dont mind paying more as long as stuff is gonna last and it definitely does. I love hiking so this is a great place for me to get everything I need. Its definitely worth getting the membership cause you will get money back on purchases. Most people know about REI and I think the brand and quality definitely speaks for themselves.
I love this place. Disneyland of sorts! As they should, everyone that works there knows lots of good stuff! Very kind very polite. Worth the drive
First time there. Right now is you order $50 for store pickup or delivered and then purchase a lifetime membership for $20.00 you get a $20.00 gift card thats good to use in 30 days. Awesome store. Looks like a great bike shop with rentals.
Had one staff member who was very helpful in selecting an item. Then, in another section of the store, no help was available.
I have always enjoyed shopping at REI. I am due for some new hiking shoes, so I headed back there to replace the ones I bought from them last year. Wow! I have to echo the other comments about the ridiculousness of the shoe department. Its completely roped off, and there is a sign at the entrance telling you to sign up for the line online. I followed the instructions and the line was non-functional. A staff person rudely grumbled to me that they werent using that and that a staff person would be out to sign me up for the line. I waited a while longer with no one coming to assist, decided this experience was not for me, and left the store. You arent even allowed to look at the shoes without going through this insanity. For all I knew, I would look for 30 seconds, not see a shoe that interested me, and move on. If you arent even going to use the system dictated on the sign, remove the sign. I got there right as they opened and there was already a decent sized line forming. You dont have anything I cant just visit another store to buy, and probably cheaper.
Store was packed. Long lines. Isles full of people.Sale people very informative.Too soon toward end of covid; had to leave feeling very uncomfortable with the crowd.
Can find deals there for great clothes and equipment.
I like the store, the layout, and the service provided. I have visited numerous bike shops the last couple months. The service they provide is sub par to be nice. They leave new cables frayed, air in brake lines, etc. I have been to at least six in the last four months only to see what they charge these poor people that decided to blow the dust off of the bikes they had in the garage. They paid for it dearly. These shops are charging $30 and higher for changing a tube, acting like the bike needs so much work (when in reality maybe a new tube or two and some tlc would suffice) all the while pretending like its rocket science they are discussing when they tell the customer the soonest they can get their bike back is three weeks! I am gauging REI by their bike service department. It is top notch. The mechanics are professionals! I hadnt brought a bike in for service here in years due to living so far away. I remeber the same quality and attention to detail was evident then. I am glad nothing has changed. On top of having a professional quality mechanic service your bicycle, its returned timely (within a couple days) and you pay one third the cost! I just picked up my bike and carefully have been over it. Bravo REI! Please praise your entire bike department for being such professionals and for providing fair service to a people in need of such a timeless therapy; our bikes. Thank you.
OK store. I havent visited an REI site in several years. Seems that they are moving more upscale. Their prices are too high for me.
Great selection of outdoor gear - everything you need and some stuff you decide you gotta have after seeing it despite not knowing it existed an hour earlier. Camping gear, mountain bikes, outdoor clothing, hiking boots, trail shoes, kayaks - its all here. Ive purchased a camping stove, headlamp, nutrition, a sleeping bag, and more. The only reason I didnt give a 5 star review is that the customer service can be lacking. I have never had anyone proactively offer to help me. With that said, after wrangling a rep, they have ALWAYS been extremely helpful and very knowledgeable.
This will be my last time shopping at REI. I am not sure who is more arrogant. The customers who pretend to be outdoor people or the employees. I am a construction worker. And this is the third time I have come in after work in my work clothes and was treated differently then other customers. It was not this time but last time when an employee told me that the item I was looking for may not be in my price range. I felt I got the same treatment when I was told today we have clearance items if you are interested. Unlike the paradise valley customers who think hiking squaw peak is an adventure I have been to places that are a real adventure. You have customers and employees who think they are more important and better than everyone around them. I do not like to shop online, at one point I felt it was nicer to into a store and be greeted by pleasant people but your store has changed my opinion.
If you plan to hike, climb, camp, bike, kayak...enjoy our beautiful natural world, REI is chock-full of gear, gadgets and goodies.
Been going tonthis store for years, always friendly and helpful staff. Also doing a great job the new mandates. Speedy service and cool vibes.
Such wonderful customer service, was able to find things quickly and efficiently with some help.
They have pretty good stuff for camping, hiking, outdoor activities etc and some of them are pricey. The REI brand stuff come a few dollars less than the other brands. It would be helpful to have named sections to look for things. But they had plenty of staff to help out. Every staff was courteous and ready to help. They also had membership offered for a lifetime at $20 price with a $20 gift card in return which can be used as early as tomorrow. Membership offers 10% returns for all items purchased till March. Plus another 10% gift card via email in September. Seemed like a good deal. Yet to try out all the items purchased so another review will be in soon describing the experience. There was a beautiful rainbow when we stepped out. Forgot to take pics inside this time. So maybe another time 👍🏻
I was just there. I was excited to try on and hopefully buy a pair of shoes Liked. Sadly no one would help me for what ever reason. The shoe section employees just ignored me. Very disappointed.
This is the first time I have been to this location in Phoenix. The staff was very helpful.
If you like waiting in line to try on a pair of boots this is the place to be. not enough staff, confusion. the yoyo that though this one up got a promotion and a office with a window, saved a few people on staff.
They always have what I am looking for 🎉🎈🌻🦋
Staff was very helpful and polite, store was clean and organized.
Biggest problem is that when your waiting to get in the shoe area in line for over 20 minutes, then the girl that works there that has been staring at you for the entire time decides to finally tell you that you need to sing up to enter and now there is a 45 minute wait. Bad customer service with employees that should be better trained to inform customers of this clown show you have going on at this location. I will NEVER buy from REI again after being a 20 yr customer.
Love REI, have for years now. Only reason I am giving 4/5 is because this location feels more like a clothing store now days. My wife and I looked down from the second floor (sales area) and pointed out how obvious it was. The clothing section is creeping further in, taking over sections of equipment.
Always helpful staff and wonderful products!
Love this store! The employees are very helpful and they have great deals upstairs!
A great REI with good customer care. This is my local REI so I do come here often. The staff and customer service culture is better than most other stores. I was greeted by almost every worker I walked by and they jump up to help as soon as you have a question.I recently went during the garage sale and was helped by representatives who knew what they were talking about. It can get quite chaotic during these garage sales, so if youre just going to browse casually, it might be best to avoid them.Cons:-layouts change so it can be confusing when items switch areas/displays-Garage sales can be chaotic and unless you get there before 8 am, you might have to wait several hours to browse their deals.
Just got some climbing gear, and the help here was awesome! Super great set up!
I needed Hoka shoes and the very helpful staff helped me find a pair. I had broken my foot and they were recommended. I have shoes I can continue to recover in.
Friendly entrance person. Multiple employees are on the floor so when I called for assistance someone was quick to come. They let me have the last jacket on display and the garage sale upstairs was pretty good on some items. The prices are expensive. However, the mens clothing is so nice its completely worth it. They let you bring well behaved dogs too. Oh and mask up for sure.
Great place to get all your hiking gear!! Associates are very helpful and friendly!!
Love rei! The staff is very helpful, if they dont know the answer they will try and find someone who does or send you to a resource where you can find the answer. They were so helpful today with helping me refit my backpack I havent used in 10 years so I can go for a weekend trip later this month!
When you become an adult and do adult things like hiking and outdoor activities; this is the adult version of a candy shop. Staff are always helpful and I never leave without buying something.
Friendly helpful staff. Always have what I need and even a few things I want!
Little pricier but great for all your hicking, and outdoor needs.
I have always shopped at REI for my hiking equipment and apparel. The assistance you get from their outfitters cannot be measured in dollars. I usually shop in Portland, OR and the level of service is the same here in Phoenix. Buy your outside gear at REI.
Young shoe sales gentleman was very helpful.
Right now during the pandemic they are being very cautious about customer count in the store. When I went I had to wait to get in. Shopping the store was very pleasant. They have nice displays of merchandise and the store was clean and tidy. The sales people were friendly and knowledgeable. I havent been clothes shopping for a while so I dont know if due to the pandemic, the fitting rooms were closed so I couldnt try on my eventual purchase.
They have a lot of stuff and youll usually pay a lot too. But the convenience and return policy may be worth it.
Customer service is 2nd to none and it is a paradise of equipment, clothes, shoes, and any accessories for any and all adventurers needs!
Great place to shop for all your outdoor adventuring needs!
The guy manning the door was not nearly as funny as he thought, I almost left but needed gear for next weekend. I suffered through and managed to not even tell him his antics were lacking. When we found help they were helpful with the exception the lady that seemed scared of every single person that walked within 10 feet. She also took us to the general area we were looking for and disappeared not helping with the gear. The lady who teaches for REI and was in the backpack area was super helpful in selecting the right bag. The third lady was also super duper helpful and found the cup I was looking for (it was the last one and in the back in a box somewhere) all in all a decent shopping experience.
Processing an online return, always quick and easy.
Great selection and helpful staff
Pretty good, they have stock etc... Been to a bunch over the years, not the best, but still its an REI...
Went in for the first time for a last minute xmas present and fell in love. Super helpful staff and awesome environment. Will definitely be coming back.
Went in today to buy a full backpacking setup had about 2k worth of stuff picked out just needed to get sized. After standing in front of the backpacks for 15 minutes no one ever came up to assist me with anything. Ill take my business to people who want it.
I wont shop here EVER again. Employees lack grace and friendliness when engaging with customers during this pandemic. It wasnt just me that they were rude to, I witnessed their lack of grace in dealing with ALL their customers. Theyre not supportive and available for help to find what youre looking for. Dressing rooms are closed, so you cant try anything on, you can only purchase and try on @ home. They grudgingly ring up your purchases. And, If your items do not fit, then youll have to come back for a return or exchange... I saw them being SOOOO RUDE to an older couple as they were making their returns! THAT was when I decided to never support them economically. I cant change their behavior, yet I am empowered to decide to NEVER shop here again!
Social distancing is very well regulated here. The staff are helpful and willing to answer your questions. Nice and friendly and easy to get in and out.
Great service from this store
Terrible. Dont come here.
Great customer service, very friendly and helpful staff. They have me great ideas and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Special Thanks to Meg!
Everything you need for outdoors. Lots of fun to shop
Been a member since 1975 and counting. As good now as they were then
Always have enjoyed going to purchase at REI. Its everything outdoor. Today was another great experience. Got what I needed quickly, but had to leave before I purchased more cool looking stuff I didnt need. 😊
Fun place to shop great people 😀
Well stocked location with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very easy for me to spend money on cool but unnecessary gear here.
Never going back. Asked the guy in the shoe dept for help after watching him hide behind a wall for 15 min. He acted like he didn’t hear me from 5 feet away, looked me in the eyes and turned around and walked away.
Clean and COVID19 conscious. Good pricing with a variety of camping items that could take up to 15 lbs off your backpack. They have seminars that teach you the the most efficient methods of packing your backpack. The employees are well trained because they are allowed first hand experience with many of the products.Their excitement and experiences are enough to sell the goods.
Always good stuff here! Garage Sale area is amazing, given the amount of high-end consumers in the area.
Always great service.Employee went out his way to find what I needed.Possible name could be Revti?
Great customer service and helpful REI sales person Scott 👍
Great Coop location with a radical second floor. The bike shop is extremely good and all the staff are well informed.
Wow!!! Just wow! Do yourself a favor! Save some time and drive to an actual outdoors store (sportsmans warehouse). Ill never shop REI again. Really, a waiting line for shoes???
Friendly staff and great selection to choose from.
Always so friendly, clean, and everything I want from a store. Not to mention the fact that they take the most up to date precautions to protect their customers and employees (plus they had the only XXL helmet I could find in the valley)
All of the staff was very helpful.
Standard REI, but not as busy as others Ive been to. Very easy to get in and out with a huge parking lot and close to the 51. I normally buy most of my gear from Amazon but this store has saved me numerous times when Im in sudden need of something the day before leaving for a trip, etc.
Arrived 30 minutes before closing. The manager said the store was closed because it was at capacity. There was four people inside and about 20 people left during the time we waited. This is a terribly run business with horrible customer service. I will not be shopping at REI ever again and they have lost my business forever. I suggest you go elsewhere like Cabelas or Bass pro. Stores that actually want your business and treat customers properly.
I love REI. They have great outdoor stuff and staff that is fantastic. Yesterday I went to go shopping at the store and there was quite a long line outside so I thought I would order on my phone for pickup. It actually took me a whole day to get the email saying that my item was ready to be picked up. I just did not expect a long wait.
Love REI, but seriously slim pickings when I need them the most..😢
Would spend thousands of dollars there if I could. Fitting room is open so very happy to not have to buy 2 sizes and try them on at home. Super nice staff!
Great store, awesome selection of packs and backpacking gear.
