Please do not go to this doctor if you have questions, and is in need of proper medical advice. Dr.Dunham needs to retire or work in an officer setting, instead of working with young children. He’s rude and obnoxious. He does not listen to the medical concerns regarding your child. But he’ll make unethical medical decisions, that’s not in his expertise.

Dr. Dunham did our sons cochlear implant surgery and made the entire process so comfortable for us. He is a talented and gifted surgeon and we are eternally grateful!

Dr. Dunham is wonderful. Our daughter’s procedure was done beautifully and the scar was very clean. Almost nine months later and there is virtually no scar to be seen. We have friends who recommended him and we would be happy to do the same. Not sure about the negativity, he has great bedside manner and you can tell he is very comfortable around children.

Dr. Dunham has been nothing but amazing with my daughter Alexandria. Rare dx of pharyngeal stenosis after a tonsillectomy done in hospital in Upstate NY. We have seen specialists all over the east coast trying to get help for our child and he was the ONLY doctor that took the time to listen to me and my child. He has done 2 surgical corrections and she likely will need more in future. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Dunham. Thanks to him my child can swallow normally for the first time in 8 months.

Dr. Dunham is an excellent doctor. He recently performed a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy on my little one. Dr. Dunham was extremely professional, courteous and kind. I know its a routine procedure, however, the thought of my child having surgery was quite unnerving to me. I felt very confident with using Dr. Dunham for this procedure. Knowing that my little one was in good hands was very comforting to me. We cant thank you enough Dr. Dunham!

Took my son to have paper removed from his ear. Quite possibly the most simple procedure an ENT can do. For some reason, however, what should have been a simple, 5-minute procedure turned into a traumatizing nightmare for my child. The Doctor:Classic taciturn, anti-social, Im too important to speak to my patients, their caregivers, or my assistant, personality type. But since we were just going in for a quick assessment, it wasnt a big deal --- or so we thought. The AssessmentDoc looked into my 6-year olds ear. Said he didnt know what the object was but that it looked like paper or tissue. I chimed in that it was likely paper and that Id softened it multiple times the hope that it would pop out - but that it was apparently too large to slip out. My statements went unacknowledged, and the doc attempted to remove the object with a mini-vac. To no avail.Doc asked the nurse to bring the light so that he could get a better look. Apparently, his mother never taught him to look, but dont touch. Before anyone could say bunch of munchy, crunch carrots, Dunham was wielding forceps and digging into my sons ear.The [unauthorized] ProcedureMy 6-year old is screaming. Im up and moving rapidly to see what the hell is going on. The doctor looks at me peripherally and tells the nurse to hold my sons head tighter. Alex is screaming for his life and pleading for Doc Sadist to Please stop! I get there and the doc is holding a diamond sharp ball of paper that ripped its way up my sons ear canal, slicing and dicing along the way. Thick blood is oozing from my sons ear. Alex is crying. The nurse is horrified. The doctor says, Well. He wont be putting anything else in his ear thats for sure. The TreatmentStill never once addressing his patient, the doctor muses aloud to himself, I dont know what that is. He squeezes a few drops of peroxide into my sons ear and says, Its bubbling as a reaction to the blood. .... ...It was this moment that I realized Dunham may have a few bolts loose. He never cleaned or irrigated the canal to see what damage he caused. He shoved a wad of cotton into my sons ear (blood pooling out of the top, and said, Youll need to clean this... like, really clean this, several times a day. As much as you can. With that, he was apparently done. So, I wrote a nifty letter to management at CHOP. Got the requisite follow up call, Sorry you werent satisfied. Would you like someone to follow up or for the doctor to contact you?Me: Yes. Absolutely. This was negligent, substandard care and needs to be addressed and explained.Did not get a call from Doc Douchebag. Did get a call from Dr. Wetmore - with no explanation of who the hell he was or why he was calling - who ranted for 3-minutes about how he hadnt talked with Dr Dunham nor read my letter but that he can say, as a physician, that the ear canal is one of those areas, like the head, that can bleed a lot and hurt. He was sorry if my sons ear hurt.Realizing that his call was a further waste of my time, I interrupted the good doc and let him know that my concern was in no was related to my sons ouchie. Rather, the lack of quality care (how hard would it have been to soften the tissue? Attempt irrigation? Use one of those tools that reach behind the object and hook it and GENTLY remove it... even surgery would have been preferable. But none of that was even possible b/c the doctor didnt weigh options, consult me about if or how I wanted to proceed with treatment OPTIONS...Shame on CHOP, shame on Doctor Dunham, shame on Dr. Wetmore, and shame on any parent who doesnt heed this warning should their child be subjected to a completely unnecessary traumatic situation.Maybe they dont care about my opinion or my sons pain, but potential patients/clients may. So here is something to consider when choosing an ENT at CHOP.
