Great bridge to resources in the community for foster care youth. However, as a parent, it is not the safest place to allow your child or foster child to go to alone. The program has serious restrictions placed on their staff that does not permit them to come the physical rescue of young people in fights especially if someone is jumped. Staff is only allowed to verbally tell another kid to stop punching or kicking another kid. I have personally witnessed a pretty young girl who was there for an orientation get stomped by a young lady in the program. The new orientee left that day with bruises to her face and it is not confirmed that the assailant received any charges. Within a couple of months, she was back at the program as if nothing happened. As a person with 20+ years in social services including group homes and detention facilities and 10+ years in the US ARMY, I would have lost my job if I had physically intervened. At least at my new employer, I have and am allowed to physically intervene if two or more young people are engaged in an altercation. If you would like to enroll your child or loved one in this program, ask many questions about their safety procedures.

I Participated in this program back in 1997 I believe. I now have my bachelors degree in education from Temple and I earned my masters degree from Neumann University in Education Leadership. I also fostered to adopt ans have been blessed with sibling group of 3. Mr. Harold Brooks was very supportive and he believed in our success!!I plan reconnect and hopefully I can encourage someone to take advantage of the resources that are out here .This program was the foundation to my success!!!
