NAMI Philadelphia is a wonderful, heart-filled organization. They provide a wealth of resources and knowledge, and all with an empathic kindness that means so much to those they serve. Their support groups are amazing, and my experience as a volunteer has been fantastic. Amy is a true advocate and connector... Doing such IMPORTANT work for our city!

The facilitators and participants of these support groups are like no other Ive ever experienced. They are genuine and openly honest people, who truly relate to others experiences and gives heart-felt feedback. I thank the universe that materialized this resource in my life. I have and would recommend them to anyone.

They provide FREE support groups for people with mental health diagnoses and their families. Although it says Philadelphia, they are open to people who live outside the city. They do NOT ask for your address, ID card, etc. Due to the pandemic, they are offering groups via Zoom. However, the camera can be turned off. Real names dont have to be used. The only downside I see is true of other support groups--other group members may say something or behave in a way you dont like. Thats why there are group guidelines reminding people not to interrupt, to keep things confidential, etc.

Ive been a NAMI member for many years! NAMI provides support for people in recovery and their families. Theyre a wonderful source of information and resources on the subject of mental illness including many different workshops and support groups. Amy, Carly and Becca in the Philadelphia office make a great team and provide a great service.

Staff members asking participants to read their policies and procedures during every session is ignorant and discriminatory, which infers participants have reading comprehension issues. I also believe the mental health sessions via zoom wasnt private at all. There is occasional bull$hit antics as well. Some of the staff members and so-called patients are very shady and corrupt and should not be trusted. Proceed with caution, do your research, and ask current / previous patients about their experience.
