I found John 2 years ago after a disastrous visit to another salon (my hair looked like and had the texture of a whisk broom). John is truly a master of his craft, conscientious and willing to take the time to figure out the best way to remedy the messes (yes, unfortunately there have been messes, plural; I am only home once or twice a year, so have to rely on others when not in PA). I can walk in and ask him to do whatever he feels is best, cut or color, and walk out feeling fabulous! His coworkers have always been friendly and courteous, to boot. Win-win.

This hair studio is amazing! Ive been looking for a new salon and stylist and Im so glad I found this one. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Vinny did my cut and color for the first time and Im so happy with my results! Hes so patient, kind, and talented! Highly recommend!

When I first moved to Philly, about 6 years ago, I bounced around to a few different salons/barbers trying to find the right fit. I tried probably about a dozen or so spots. I finally settled on Lakshmi. I have been getting my haircut by Joe for I think about 4 years now. Joe is super personable, easy to work with and gets what Im going for really well. Lakshmi is a little pricier than other places Ive been, but I seem to be getting what I pay for. I always feel well handled here, and Ive never left unhappy with my haircut. Havent found another place that was able to quite match that. A few select times when Joe wasnt available I got my hair cut by one of the other stylists and felt well handled by them as well, so overall Ive been more than satisfied with my years of service here.

Made an apt 3 wks in advance with Robin for a permanent wave. Received a phone call the day of that the apt was being canceled d/t a family emergency. I do not have availability to come in during the wk which is why I made an apt for Sunday. I understand family emergencies come up but as a brand new client it seems like I would have been fit in with someone else instead of offered another apt almost a week later. Not rescheduling here

I have been going to Robin for years to craft all of my hair needs. There are a lot of very talented hair artists that make you feel truly amazing when you walk out the door. Kyle is another very talented stylist who gets the color and tone thats right for you.

As a guy who barely knows how to describe his preferred hair style, it is comforting to walk into Lakshmi and rely on the knowledge and experience of the wonderful group of stylists at this salon. Nina always does a fantastic job at translating my bumbling descriptions into a clean look that matches my aesthetic. My SO drives an hour just so Samantha can cut and style her hair, and thats saying something. A wonderful salon filled with wonderful and welcoming people.

Edited: After washing my hair I realized that she cut the front significantly shorter than the back. I definitely did not ask for this and now have an afro in the front since my curls are so much lighter there. Will likely not be going back.Wendy was incredible nice and knew exactly what to do with my wild and curly hair. Will definitely be going back!

My hair stylist was great! He was very nice, attentive, and friendly! However, the lady’s at the front desk (two blonde ladies - one being a manager) were HORRIBLE! They were extremely rude, very unhelpful, and extremely unprofessional! They seemed as though they were forced to come to work — instead of actually enjoying the work they do and providing the customer service that one would expect in what is suppose to be a fine establishment.

Dawn was very friendly! Vincent did amazing job bringing my hair back to life! Fast service ! I will be going back soon!

Such a bummer to share I didnt have a great experience here today. It may not be fitting to rate the salon as a whole based on this experience because I think it primarily had to do with the stylist, but I still want to share in hopes that someone on the inside might be open to some constructive feedback. I really hope that what happened to me is an exception and not the norm, and that it doesnt have to happen to others. But Im still most definitely taking my business elsewhere.First, my stylist was fifteen minutes late for the appointment. No one came around to tell me she was running late (if its more than five minutes, I think its reasonable to expect a heads up), and when she finally was ready for me, there was no Thanks for waiting! or So sorry about the wait! Honestly a simple acknowledgement would have been enough. But okay, its cool, we all run late sometimes.My larger issue is that I described a few specifics of things I wanted, and not only did they not happen, but my stylist actually did the opposite...? This wasnt one of those times when maybe the language of hair is subjective, and two people can talk at cross purposes without realizing it. No. I have a bob, and I said I wasnt a big fan of a harsh angle where the hair is super short in the back and much longer in the front and that I wanted to even it up and make it a little more blunt.When my stylist finished the cut and proudly spun me around to check out her handiwork on the backside of my head, my heart dropped. She shared that she had cut over an inch from the back and less than an inch from the front; in other words, the exact opposite of what Id asked.I apologized to her and shared that it wasnt quite what I was hoping for. She was clearly in a rush (because shed started late), and I couldnt help but feel like she was not thrilled to be taking extra time to meet my needs.Maybe I should have seen it coming. When she asked me what I had done for the Fourth of July for the second time, after Id answered that question maybe ten minutes earlier (in detail), I probably should have realized she was checked out. Or when Id ask her questions to make small talk and shed give one word answers that made it clear she hadnt heard the question, or just not answer at all.Maybe her cat died. Maybe someone in her family is sick. I dont know. Im not a total monster so I didnt make a fuss at the register and I tipped her, but honestly part of me is angry I paid for this. Im completely unhappy and going to get it re-cut ASAP.

I was - and still am- 2 weeks later- so happy with my colour! Thank you to the lady ( cant remember her name) who looked after me. I was very far from home (Hobart Tasmania Australia) and needed a colour, so walked in and got the best colour match! Thank you! Love the name and the little shrine to Lakshmi!

My wife is very VERY specific about her hair and I took her in to Lakshmi for her first cut and style in years. Wendy took such great care of her and it was such a premium experience in a nice studio. The price didn’t hurt either. Well worth the money and I will definitely be recommending and my wife will definitely be going back to see Wendy. She’s great!!!

I had corrective/creative color done by Michele today (after a bad first-time color experience at another salon a week ago) and she was amazing. She was so professional, warm, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely at ease during every step of the process. She explained the steps she would take to correct my color and I wound up with FAR better results than I had even imagined. Michele really gave me the hair color I dreamed of, when I was only hoping to get back to my natural color.Lakshmi and Michele are amazing! Ive found my new salon!

The worst hair cut ever. I went twice and the second one was a total disaster. The stylist ended up removing hair from both sides in such way that it looks weird and without any reasoning behind it. When I went to another hair salon to try to repair the weird hair cut, the stylist there could not understand what happened and why my hair was styled in that super weird way. I ended up paying full price in both trials and the biggest issue for me was my wasted time and huge disappointment with the outcome.

Wendy gave me an amazing haircut and was such a down to earth lovely person. My hair feels revived and my bangs are super cute! Deff coming back.

Nina did an amazing job with my balayage. I told her I wanted the hair to match my extensions and she matched it almost 100%. Im wearing the extensions in the photo. You cant tell the difference between my hair and the extensions. Wonderful Colorist! Thanks again Nina!

Had major bleach damage to the point were styling my hair was nearly impossible, I went to Ricky and I could not be happy. I am final about to wear my hair down. He also did an AMAZING job coloring my hair from bleach blonde to an ashy dirty blondeish brown that I wanted.

I have seen great work come out of Lakshmi and the staff is nice.Maybe it wasnt the stylists week. During my first my visit I was given dated streaky highlights. I came back into the salon for and asked for balayage , to blend , or tone my hair. I even said I was willing to go dark or pay extra . I just wanted my hair done right. My hair is now beyond repair my roots are carrot orange and the rest of my hair looks like a botched sun-in job with patches and stripes of cooper, red and blonde. I have received 5 quotes to color correct my hair. First, they ask what box dye I used and quote me between 450-600 dollars. This is pretty steep after paid 250 for my service at Lakshmj. If you cant provide a service please refer another stylist. New clients check the stylists Instagram ect before you book.

Michele is the bomb. My thick wavy hair is too much for most stylists, but her cuts and color are always perfection.
