After reviewing a few credit unions, I was lead to Bright Star through the grace of God.. I was privy to have a wonderful young lady by the Name of Jenay Major to assist me. This young lady was very knowledgeable about all the products, extremely articulate. I was mostly impressed with her personality, she is very pleasant, wonderful awesome woman of God. I felt as if I was speaking with a family member. Janey is warm and friendly, and in my opinion deserves a promotion. She has exactly what customers are expecting when a service is being provided. Her smile is contagious and her professionalism is a ten. I have never felt more comfortable in a bank/credit union.Thanks Jenay Major for such a wonderful experience.

Whenever I have requested a car loan, refinance or balance transfer, the credit union has been there for me with excellent customer service. Every previous review is good and from members. This is my experience before before becoming a member.I went to open up an account. After registering to see a customer representative waited in the office for 40 minutes and left.I visited the same place again today . I registered to as usual to see acustomer service representative. Since there were more than two peoplethe staff advised me to wait in the car till some one calls to come in.Said time was 1:15 PM , Again waited 50 minutes in the car and then I left the place . At 3:29 PM some one called me to go in. But left the bank earlier. I requested an appointment for next day .Answer was no telephone appointment.That end of the matter.

I was recommended to come here by a family member and I do not regret it simply based off the great customer service I received from one of their employees. I appreciated the assistance and patience I got from Elly when I arrived. Not to mention her knowledge of sports and casual conversations that she offered when she recognized my favorite team on my mask since obviously we have gone to the superbowl. I hardly recommend things or places to people but I would highly recommend going to BrightStar of Taft especially if youre a local in Pembroke Pines.

I came in with my grandmother a couple of days ago. Due to her not speaking much English i needed to help her with translation and we Were amazing helped by a girl name ELLY she was beyond nice. She explained that she is fairly new and but was still making sure she asked the right questions and answered for my grandmother . She would go and ask a gentleman for certain answers to make sure my grandmother and I got the correct answers. She was really patient and great customer service.

I’m extremely please with the young lady name Elly. She was the only teller working yesterday when I came in. There was a line inside which they had closed the door due to over capacity and there was a line in the drive thru. The young lady handled everything very well. She kept apologizing to everyone for the wait. I’m surprised at how fast and calm she was the entire time. She continued multitasking and I can tell she was smiling through her mask. She took her time with me and explained all my balances and payment dates. Such a sweet girl.

I always have a very good interaction every time I have a transaction at the credit union. However, today was beyond good it was great!! Cynthia Mendez rocked!! She was extremely pleasant and very helpful. I had to go inside and open up another account and she was helpful the entire way. She had on her mask and had her barrier up as it was supposed to be followed due to COVID. She not only helped me open up the account I needed but helped me open another much needed account to help me save as well even while handling a few other transaction needs!! She had such a warm, welcoming, and pleasant personality. I wish other banking institutions could have a glimpse of how Cynthia works so they could model how a wonderful employee should be. As a prior Banker and a branch manager of one of the biggest financial institutions on the East cost, I have to admit that my experience with Ms. Liliana Restrepo and Ms. Cynthia Mendez as well as the teller line where extraordinary and very pleasant. Up to the point that I had the MISFORTUNE of dealing with the branch manager. In my opinion and after 25 years of retail and management experience its my profound believe that she should not be working in a customer service position never the less in a management position! I got so frustrated with her behavior and attitude that I took my business and personal accounts to another financial institution. So if you are a customer and you conduct your business at this location try to avoid this person, the rest of the employees are great and the bank its a great institution.

The other day I walked in Bright Star Credit Union located on Taft Street to open an account. The moment I walked in the door I was greeted by Daniel one of the tellers, he greeted me with the biggest warmest smile and spoke to me in a professional manner.I met with Shelley the Assistant Manager and told her I needed to open an account. She took the time to explain everything to me in detail which I appreciated, shes very professional and has a very charming personality.On another day I was greeted by Danielle one of the tellers and she was very professional and answered all my questions. I would recommend Bright Star Credit Union to everybody, the staff speak their customers with respect and put their needs first. THUMBS UP 😃.

Teller was very nice. Hes one person and can only do so much so I give him 5 stars. Management however gets the negative rating. A line full of people as well as customers waiting in line in drive through and a manager decides to walk out and say something 40 mins after instead of jumping in and helping. Absolutely ridiculous.

Ive been forced to use this credit union for my internship and it is not in any way easy for me as a working teenager to make it here after work or on the weekends. Because THEY were having issues with direct deposit I had to pick up my check and drop it off. I got to their office as quickly as I could and arrived at 5:02. I wasnt met with enough courtesy for even a simple Sorry were closed. It was 94 degrees and I waited for minutes outside their door. As soon as I possibly can Im cancelling my membership with this credit union. Way to make a good impression Bright Star. Thank you for a total waste of my time.

I get a direct deposit every month and have for over one year. I had my deposit sent on Friday and by Sunday, it still had NOT been credited to my account and this is with a Cat 5 hurricane (180mph) just off our coast! They are denying me access to my money for days . if not for my savings account being healthy, Id be in big trouble! They do this all the time. Any other bank would give you access to the deposit by Friday at 5pm! Time to change banks.

Whether my account had in $5.00 or $50,000 whenever I walk in the branch on Taft and Flamingo Road, I am always greeted like a rock star! Constance, Liz and Kathy, whom have all retired were at the Teller Counter to provide a warm welcome and cater to my needs.Lastly, but definitely not least, is the Branch Manager, Shelly. She is the Branchs Midas Touch. She is always available and provides the best solutions to our financial needs. I had to travel out of the country and had a financial transaction that required her help. I was able to call her from overseas and she answered immediately and was able to assist us. As always, Mrs. DiGioia provided excellent and expeditious customer service in helping me secure a pre-approval letter to purchase a car for my son. She and the entire BSCU staff continue to set the standard for exceptional banking services. Mrs. DiGioia also referred me to the outstanding services of their affiliated Auto Advisors who secured an additional $2100 off the final cost of the new vehicle. I plan to definitely use them moving forward. I also secured an additional .25 discount on the already extremely low interest rate on the car loan. Went into branch to get info on Home equity line and loans and person I spoke with was informative and pleasant. Tried to call back a few days later to start loan process but went to the voice message of the person I spoke with. I left a message to please return turn but never heard back. Decided to email a couple of days later and did not recieve a response. Called back yesterday, answering system said 1 minute wait time but I was disconnected twice. Tried to call again today, message once again said 1 minute wait time but I waited 5 minutes and hung up. Called again and it said 1 minute wait time and 10 minutes later I was still waiting. Only reason I continued calling is because Im helping my mother try to get loan and shes pretty adamant to use this credit union. Im definitely going to persaud her to move to a bank that wants her buisness.

My husband and I opened an account at BSCU with the intention of depositing money into it periodically, but not having access to it with debit cards to avoid spending money we were trying to save. Out of sight out of mind kind of thing. Yesterday afternoon, I walked into the branch to speak to a representative to obtain my account number to make some deposits. The line was incredibly long at the tellers and the lobby was rather full as well. I decided to try again the next day. This morning, I walked in, signed in and was seen very quickly. I met with a representative to obtain my account number and was told that my account had been closed since mid 2018. When I argued that was impossible because I had received a statement in November showing I had funds in the account; she did a bit more digging. Turns our joint account isnt even accessible using my credentials since Im second on the account. I needed to provide my husbands personal information to access the account. The representative handed me a card with the account number and offered to make the deposits for me (it was nice but I declined). I went to the window to make the deposits and was told that there had been a series of withdraws from the account in $5 denominations. I had no idea why, since we dont even have debit cards for this account. The teller offered to sign me in so they could investigate further. I spoke with the same representative who provided me with the account information. It seems BSCU had been charging me $5 for about 4 months for not notifying them that I moved. Yes, you read that right. $5 a month because I never notified them that I moved. Despite the fact that my accounts are paperless. You see, they have on their disclosure (so, Im told) that they can do that. They apparently also think they can do that without notifying a member by email (which they have on file). I was so upset by this that I decided to close our account. I found it dishonest and withdrew everything from our account. With a different large commercial bank on just about every block you would think they would be a little better at customer service.

I became a Brightstar member about 2 years ago! Best choice I made.A week ago I went in to my local branch to open an account for my daughter. I also inquired about purchasing a vehicle! The branch manager Zoie was there to open the account and answer any and all questions I had!Little did I know the excellent service I was going to receive!Not only did Zoie get my loan approved, she also put me in contact with George from auto advisor! He was professional and made sure he found a vehicle that was perfect for my family and I! He never rushed to just get a deal done, he was patient and knowledgeable!The day of the closing of the car purchase I wasn’t able to get to the branch until close to closing time! Zoie made sure we got everything done and she didn’t rush anything as to make sure everything was smooth and exactly as it should be. Zoie had little regard for her own time and gladly stayed late to ensure I was able to drive my new vehicle home that same evening!To sum up my review, Zoie and the Brightstar team went above and beyond to make a member happy!The Auto Advisor service and George make purchasing a vehicle a stress free experience!Thank you

I have never been to a bank where the staff treated you like an armed robber. I was told by the staff member “you need to remove your hat before I’ll talk to you” ugh really? How about could you please, or sir our policy is, or even I’m sorry sir it’s a policy to remove your hat before we speak.I said to the guy, my hats on backwards you can clearly see my face. He says to me “it’s a federal law, so remove it or we can’t do anything for you.”Again, you’re fighting for “MY” business right? So I asked the guy “can you tell me what federal law it is, code or anything, because I’ve never heard that in America?”He said “google it, it’s not for me to have to prove!” Ugh, yes I t is if you’re asking me to remove my hat!So I left and said I’ll never bank there again. I went right over to my other bank 5/3 and he told me, “there is no law to remove your hat” so this bank has lost me as a customer!

This Credit Union is a JOKE! My Car loan process was very simple. 4 months into my car loan i noticed that there was a force placed auto insurance on my loan because the bank failed to add my insurance info to the loan documents. Every time I called Brightstart there was busy signal or a recording that said that the line was disconnected. Other times I called I would wait on hold for a minimum of 10 minutes. After I finally got a hold of someone they told me that they person who handles the forced place insurance, there is only one person in the whole company and she was on vacation. I had to call their third party insurance company gave them my insurance information and at that point they removed the forced place auto insurance and admitted that the bank made an administrative error. Also there is this service called Courtesy Pay (overdraft protection) I declined that option and just wanted my card to decline if there were no funds available. One time I over drafted my account by .63 cents and they charged me 4 courtesy payments fees of $34. When I called and told them exactly who I spoke to and that the courtesy payment option was not suppose to be on on my account. They said that there was no record of that being declined, but they were happy to remove one of the courtesy payment fees. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK. Unless you like people playing games with your money.UPDATE: I have since sold this vehicle and the bank is still making my automatic payments even though the loan has been paid off. After spending 1 hour on hold I was told that the only way the bank can refund me my money is if I go in to a branch and speak to bank representative and REQUEST a refund.

My Aunt went in to do a Certificate of Deposit. She was treated dreadfully. The representative that was helping her was discussing her own personal business with another employee. She waited on another member before my Aunt when she should have been after her. She did not give the correct interest rates and when she was told about that she got an attitude about her own mistake.

We have been BSCU members since 1999. This past month, we applied for another auto loan (this is our third or fourth one) and had to share what a wonderful experience we had. Not only did we receive the pre-approval at lightning speed from Barbie Gonzalez, but we needed an increase to the loan and got it as I was talking to Reina on the phone. Additionally, when BSCU found out that my husband was leaving for a month-long out of state military trip and we needed to move extremely quickly to complete the process, Shelley Ramnauth and Chris Evangelis immediately sprang into action to ensure that he could sign the paperwork before he left. Thank you very much for the amazing customer service - this is a testament of why we have been banking with BSCU for 20 years and will continue to do so for many years to come!

If you have hours to waste this is your credit UnionMy in laws has been a member of this Credit Union for over 20 years. Pembroke Pines location is the closest location to our home. They are elderly so most time I will do their banking for them. I am not sure what happened to all the experienced tellers, like Harday, katy, who always greeted you by your name and a big smile, they were so fast that you are in and out within minutes. Over the past few years their are always new tellers that take forever to process your transaction. This month I was there with my in law she went to Danny, he was having issues with the transaction we requested, I told him to find out from his manager, his response was I RATHER NOT. She was only a few feet away from him.Speaking about the manager most times she is in her short short outfit and heels no smile very unprofessional. Went back this week had to turn away the line was all the way to the entrance. We will be moving to another Credit Union.
