Careful - we live here, and many Google photos associated w this spot are wrong, showing other spots near-by 2nd Crossing. Beautiful canyon hikes and trout fishing along the river and under the bridge. Houston Mesa Rd bridge traverses the river for second time, hence 2nd Crossing.

Very calm and almost feels like being in a different world, peaceful u0026 ever changing with every storm u0026 flood that comes through but a part of the river that is so full of life u0026 mystery..amazing boulders suspended between the canyon walls, deep swimming holes, waterfalls ( size ranges with the flow of course) u0026 some trails u0026 spots that not many people should try if not experienced. But theres a spot along the way that everyone can enjoy.

Every time I go here I think that the water is going the wrong way. But fish gobble the bread tossed into it. Maybe they are smarter than I am. This place is full of primal beauty.and fish.

If the water wasnt so dirty looking I would have gave it a 5 star, but it was right after the flash floods so what do you expect.

Not really a campground... Signs all say day use only. Plus it costs $9 to park there. Pretty area though. There are camping areas nearby (one a little further up the road is called Verde Glen and its free), just call the forest service first to make sure theyre open.

So much fun. We just went for the day to play in the snow. It was good because there were only a few cars there.

The so called river crossings are not the same as they were back in the 90s when you actually crossed the river while driving across to the other side, now is it a BRIDGE crossing, with NO water....my 3 kids used to tube down the river when we camped for a week at the 2nd river crossing...was very sad visiting it last weekend.....
