It is 2:47pm on a Tuesday (12/29) I just called the number on the bill and the number listed on their google profile and get a disconnect message for both. I am also going over the detailed bill the hospital gave me. My insurance has already paid the procedure codes for each date from the hospital that match the same dates and procedure codes this lab is claiming I need to pay. This has to be a scam. Their website is sketchy too. I have left a message with Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge, IL to confirm if this is a contracted third party and to see if there is a legit number so I can reach Midwest Diagnostic Pathology to discuss their billing. It appears that it is a duplicate otherwise why would their be the same procedure code AND my insurance had denied the one from MDP lab??Update 1/15: After the Hospital confirmed they are a 3rd party working with the Hospital I called the number again on the statement. Please know lab and billing department are separate. Billing department is listed on the bill and phone number is now working. Unsure why it was disconnected but let the nice lady on the phone know. I also suggested to her that the lab update their website (even though they are not the lab just billing) so that people can feel comfortable paying a bill without it feeling like a scam.

Why is there not less then one star? This people are the WORST ever !!! No matter with which extension you are conect, they are ALL extremely rude. To make money out of you they code bills wrong all the time using Diagnostic codes instead of Routine codes to bill the insurance. They keep sending incorrect bills , and if you dont pay, they immediately send them to colection agency. A NIGHTMARE!! AVOID AT ANY COST!!

They charged over $3,000 for a 2-minute procedure. And they tried to get $816 out of me. Even though I was assured there was no extra cost.

Yeah, dont go through these guys. Blue Cross Blue Shield told me that they are not in network with them at all. I had a BCBS customer representative confirm this for me when they didnt show up under the provider search tool. Next, I called Midwest Diagnostic Pathologys billing department to ask about this, to see if maybe they billed through their individual doctors. The woman who answered the call did pick up right away, but she also sounded very nervous from the moment she said hello. After scrambling around her office for several minutes (I heard things fall in the background, it was a strange experience), she told me that they were in network with BCBS as a group and always had been. I asked if they billed through the name Midwest Diagnostic Pathology, she said yes. I asked if they could give me their BCBS NPI number (provider number, this is what they bill under when they submit a claim to your insurance, this is what shows up on the Estimation of Benefits your insurance sends to you after they process the claim). The woman on the phone got even more nervous at that point and told me that they did not give out that information, for privacy reasons. Right before this, I had called Midwest Anesthesia Partners just to verify coverage and the woman who picked up there kept me on the line after I said thank you and goodbye because she wanted to make sure I got their NPI number and wrote it down for reference. The NPI numbers show up when you search for a doctor or hospital on the BCBS website. Theyre not secret or confidential. Theyre literally public knowledge and available to everyone. She offered that I could ask her supervisor about this and I said that would be very helpful. She transferred me to her supervisor after another minute or so of scrambling in the background, and I had to leave a voicemail. That call was not exactly confidence building. Highly disorganized, uninformed, and unprofessional. Also, one of the phone options was press [this] number if you have received a collections notice, which I have never heard before on any billing department call tree. I guess depending on what the supervisor is able to tell me, if she calls me back, I might have to submit a Better Business Bureau complaint as well for falsifying information. Looks like the Google reviewer who said they submitted a BBB complaint actually did, and it pressured Midwest Diagnostic Pathology to admit their errors (basically admitted that claims insurance denies are accidentally automatically submitted to collections as a normal occurrence, and that they submit bad claims that insurance cant approve as a normal occurrence), apologize, and reverse the charges. Im just really hoping that Lutheran General allows me to request to not send my pathology samples to this group. Does anyone else have experience with making special requests like that regarding a surgery? Let me know.

Had medical work performed by this lab in January 2014 per hospitals request. They submitted literally 30 statements/bills to my health insurance company for 1 or 2 services. Some for as low as $16!! Talk about a messy paper trail. When my health insurance company readjusted coverage in March 2014 resulting in a $50 refund to me, Midwest missed it. Claimed they never saw the adjusted benefit claims & pointed the finger at my insurer. I had to resubmit all forms to them myself, calling every week for 10 weeks. They told me it would take 4-6 weeks to get the refund. Even after approved for refund, no one could give me a date when a check would be issued. They couldnt communicate with the refund dept. they told me??A year later, I still dont have my $50!Avoid this company if at all possible. The billing department is hopeless. Some are very rude. God forbid they ever owe you money. It would be easier to get money from Fort Knox.

Horrible!!!,, I made contact with a billing representative and was attempting to make a Payment,, I put her hold for 2 minutes, and suddenly disconnected,, attempted to call back several more times after,, but no pickup just a voicemail, stating to leave a message. This is Funny Part about this experience:: One of the many times I called,, I put myself on a waiting list to be called back when my turn came. 5 minutes later I was called back and next thing u know that same voicemail requested I be put back on the waiting list cause I was not Next in line!! SO WHAT WAS THE POINT TO THE WAITING LIST

Agreed, this company does not even deserve the one star. This is a mess of a place and a total mess of billing. They keep sending random bills without trying to go through your insurance or they will keep sending you bills after you have paid. The hospital has the same billing issues. I paid each co-pay before every appointment and the complete incompetence of those in the billing department keep claiming they have no record of it. How can you lose what amounts to a medical record? I like my doctor there but Im not willing to go through several more months of them claiming I didnt pay a co-pay just to keep that appointment. Also, you cant get any of your test results online. This place is in the Dark Ages. Run far, far away.

Very BAD experience with the billing lady, so rude, hanged up the phone when I ask the question, first I got bill in May 2017 for my daughter & wife. I paid for my daughter and when asked for wife they said, there is no balance for her, but again they send the same bill with new due date in June 2017, so I asked why they told last time there is no balance and again sending this bill, she just hanged up the phone ....unfortunately I forget her name to whom I was talking, else I have mentioned her name her.

Midwest Diagnostic Pathology submitted my bill to my insurance company and billed for more than their contracted price for my service. They are now sending me to collections to obtain the amount that they are overcharging for services rendered. Hello Illinois Attorney General.

All I get is dunning letters and threats from these people. Clearly Im not the only one. There is no phone number to reach the real office only the billing office.

I had a specimen sent the MDPA on 7-2-2013, this I do not dispute but I was never sent a bill from this lab in a 12 month period. I was sent to collection and that was the first notice that had a bill for $245.00. I would have paid the bill had I known what was owed but this company sent no bills to me. I think this an extremely poor business. The doctors may do their job but they have poor business office personal and I resent the fact that they are making a scar on my credit report. Shame on you. I have brought this to my doctors attention and he will no longer be sending specimens to your lab from me.Beware bad company!!!!!

Worst company to deal with - you will be chasing them down if you need anything done or if you ever need a refund. Do not give them money unless you have gone through your insurance company.

I had a minor bill ($26) that I owed these people. No big deal, I paid it via check, the check was cashed, all good -- right? No! They then started sending me repeat copies of the bill saying I owed them $26. I called them and they said It may take some time to process, Sorry. etc. Again, more and more bills for $26 (that I ignored SINCE I HAD ALREADY PAID IT). Finally, they got a bill collector calling me and dinged my credit report.I paid the $26 again to get them off of my back and I will be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint against them. This REALLY TICKS ME OFF!

Just received a random bill from August of 2016. No clue what it is for. Sounds like they might be related to Midwest Anesthesiologist..again, something is fishy. I should not have been billed anything.
