My experience here was subpar at best. First it was extremely difficult to get a hold of anyone to schedule an appointment. Then the total time the doctor was in the examination room was under 10 minutes in total. As a new patient he is entitled to his high level billing code but with that he has the duty to be prepared and chart review. He did none of this prior to walking in the room and wasted my time trying to get him up to speed on what Id already provided. Then when my medication was denied it became a major uphill battle and all they want to do is upsell to the pharmacy in the office when that isnt what I wanted or asked for. Here is 90 days later still dont have my meds (even the one they recommended) because no one calls back unless you leave nasty voicemails. Lastly - he only looks at insurance denials once a week. Its been my experience that this is not best practice and seems extremely straight forward to go through on a daily cadence vs weekly. I would not recommend doing business with Lakeview Dermatology in anyways. Dr Mandera the owner and founder should be ashamed he has let his practice become so outdated and not patient focus.

Been going here for nearly 4 years- Dr. Mandrea (Steven) is very skilled and also very kind. he has been helpful to me.I haven’t left reviews before and I don’t really like doing so but I’m posting this because I’m fed up with the lack of proper communication from the office, about billing, and particularly upset by interactions with Penny, who is an office manager(I think). I know others have complained about her and now I see why. surprises with billing shouldn’t be blamed on patients who were unaware, when those working at the front desk havent relayed info..I received conflicting info multiple times, but I never had issues with anyone else working there whether in person or on the phone. most of them are nice and even if I felt frustrated upon hearing conflicting information from people at the front desk, I was always kind and accepting of what they told me and didn’t assert myself even if I had questions or concerns. and they were polite so I didn’t feel the need to say anything. Penny is the exception. She doesn’t let you talk much and it’s a problem if you question something after she’s rude to you, she cuts you off before you can explain or finish a sentence but if you start to get riled up, you’re the problem. then she tries to close things off as quickly as possible when she wouldn’t hear you out to begin with. She doesn’t actually want to HELP and she lacks friendliness and manners. my voice is louder than hers though, so I look like I’m overreacting. I have known people who talk like this and it’s maddening. it’s pretty telling when the only hostile interaction I’ve ever had with a “professional” on the phone, is with this one person.. I’m usually the total opposite and I don’t have issues with people. I have severe anxiety and actually struggle to speak up in general. I let things go all the time but I have the right to say something, I’m not gonna repeatedly have issues with communication from various people at the office only to have this particular person be rude when I finally start asserting myself and asking questions or complaining about the issues I’ve been having. Suddenly having something thrown at me recently, unexpectedly, in direct contradiction to the conduct and actions of others working there who continued making me appointments and didn’t disclose anything or even a “warning” for over a year- how can I be expected to just .. expect this? anyways, I only have positive things to say about Dr. Mandrea, Kim, and others who have worked with or assisted me at this office. and I think most of the receptionists and staff are kind and some of them are really friendly and sweet. Maybe there’s just a lack of communication and organization or something, I really don’t know and I don’t work there so Penny shouldn’t expect the patients to know everything when no one is telling them. Important information should probably be disclosed in the first place, there shouldn’t be hidden and/or unexplained fees, and if no one mentions it for over a year ..don’t expect people to magically know.. and don’t use the “it’s our policy” line or mention that you signed something like years ago as if people are gonna remember all that lmao. Power trip, probably. I shouldn’t have expunged all that energy talking to someone who isn’t really willing to talk and who doesn’t care. I’m currently uninsured and low-income and I’m just trying to deal with things. And during this pandemic I’m sure everyone in general is more stressed out. You never know what someone is going through in life, better to not make things harder on someone. They might have enough on their plate.

They charge me 400% more for same thing that was done a year earlier without even telling me about price increase. Bill that i got was inaccurate because it was different procedure. In the time of this pandemic , they are trying to rob people. Shameful!

I see theres only one review. This was my second time there seeing a physicians assistant. I didnt like the one last year but just kind of forgot about I had to check up and a few things done and now this year I especially didnt like it which is making me write this review.First of all as women we are embarrassed about certain things I mean we mightfeel ashamed or insecure and I felt so so rushed. As soon as the PA came in she introduced herself I dont even remember who she was but, she grabbed my wrist and put this glass up to her eye to inspect my skin. Is asking questions and she was rattling off to her assist what she saw on my skin. All the whole holding the freeze spray in the other hand. I told get I needed some moles removed and she didnt ask which ones and started freezing or burning them off while I winced in pain trying to think of the questions I wanted to ask! So I was totally powerless while she treated me not really knowing what was really going on too I started thinking about it for the last 2 days. Im angry too! The appt was less than 15 min. She said if I wanted come back for a fully body scan, but insurance dont pay much. 15 moles, 12 -15 min.I wont be getting a referral to this place ever!
