The sales woman Phyllis was awesome. She helped me with sizing, explained things Id never had told to be when buying a new pair of shoes as well as recommending alternatives to the shoe i was looking at and checking availability at other store. Very sweet and personable. First time in an REI definitely will not be the last.

Great store! Came in for hiking shoes for our next national park trip. I was very impressed with the knowledge the staff had with national parks out west specifically Glacier and Yellowstone. It was nice to talk to someone who actually went where we are going. Usually people have no clue. We were very impressed by their selection of shoes, and what they didn’t have would come to our house in 4-5 days. We will definitely be back!

Awesome staff! We came in looking for last minute rock climbing gear for our trip to Lake George this weekend and got some great gear tips from Ben. He explained everything really well which was needed considering we’re beginners. To top it all off, he took the time to talk to us about a clearance paddle board even though they were literally closing and he was probably gearing up to go home. He regarded us with respect and a positive attitude the whole visit. Much appreciated!

Fantastically to find sophisticated sporting goods the only place that carries my authentic hiking shoes for the trail walking. Pick up salomson trail shoes. They carry all sizes and they dont have any sock they will order for you online ship it to your local store or perhaps on the purchase amount you get free shipping. Dont forget to become a lifetime member truly worth it.

Mark and Caro were super helpful, they both helped me find a pair of hiking boots and help me out with insoles because I have bad knees and back, they were very knowledgeable and empathetic.

Is this the demise of REI?Although as a member(stock holder) I’m disappointed that I was not given a heads up re: the periodic garage sale, I was hugely disappointed that the quality of merchandise looked liked it came from a garage sale but the prices were in most instances either the same as new(but w/holes & stains) or only $20-$30 discounted. Poor management poor marketing, shame on you REI

We are planning to go tubing so we were looking for clothes to keep us dry & warm. The service was excellent, we had plenty of help, we found what we wanted at reasonable prices, its tough at this time of the year, its the end of the season we looked in numerous places, supplies were few & sizes limited, we lucked out. This was the second time here, not disappointed, plenty of parking, they are across from ShopRite in Paramus

Excellent service when getting my daughter a pair of new Merrell activity water proof sneakers. Still practicing social distancing which is comforting.

This store does not have as large of a selection as some of the other locations, but it is still a nice store. As usual, all the staff are friendly and helpful.

Always an adventure shopping here. Great gear you can depend on for every taste. Can be pricey but oh so worth it.

Almost took a star away because they are not cheap, but the employees are great! So helpful and just nice. Also you can return if not happy with your purchase even many months later. Because they do such a good job I have not had to return anything, but nice to know I could if needed.

Store seemed very sparse, but they were setting up for the big sidewalk sale. All the employees seemed too pre occupied to assist much. Greeter at the front door to ensure covid restrictions was hacking up a lung as he instructed others to be safe. Sale items were good and I found most of what I needed. Registers were cleaned between each guest which is nice.

I am changing my review because after contacting REI via a few methods to get delivery of my order someone politely called me and my bicycle is ready for delivery, this is great news and it did not take them until July as previously stated by someone on the phone. Thank you for rushing the assembly and getting it done sooner really appreciate the hard work

Excellent customer service! Staff memeber Becca helped me to choose right size of running shoes. She was very polite and even though there were many customers she was trying to answer and bring as many sneakers to bring to try out. I was also able to purchase another great shoe through REI’s garage sale, which recommened by Becca. Many thanks to her and I will definitely revisit REI Paramus!

So I dont know if I should laugh and the guy at the door or punch him in the face... seriously, you are going to give me a tutorial on how to wear my mask. Are we toddlers. Great store. Sales/service personnel is helpful, respectful, responsible. My family bikes have been serviced/fixed/turned up several times over last several years. We will be back buying and servicing again.Besides bikes, I bought a cargo box. At no charge, a Sales person tried two boxes (amazing service) and the price was matching the best prices available online from other sellers like Am...n (which is amazing when it comes to smaller items).

I would give them zero if I could. Went for shoes was given a buzzer and told wed be called shortly.. after over an hour come to find they arent using the buzzers. Spoke to the manager who when I said we were leaving bcuz I was hungry jokingly offered me snacks from the running gel section. I will never spend a dime here ever again. Love REI, but I had an unpleasant pickup experience on 7/24/20 where the woman bringing out my order was aggressive and unprofessional. Try a different location, if possible, especially if you have a non-European name.

This store discriminates and harasses those with medical conditions and I will not be back. I do not wear a mask due to a medical condition. I was in this store the other day and was followed around, repeatedly interrupted from doing my browsing, harassed and berated by managers Rich and Steve. I shared with both of them several times that I have a medical condition and that if someone has a medical exemption they are allowed by law to shop in stores. I was asked what my medical condition is which is against the law. I shared this with one of them as well and he said he knew the law and wanted to see a note from my doctor. This is not required and again by law no one needs to disclose what their disability is. I will not be returning to this store or purchasing from REI again and I will be reporting this incident to corporate.

Wanted to give a shout out to Rich who works at REI Paramus. I was looking for a particular cannondale bike for my son and Rich went the extra mile to ensure I got it. He got it built in quick time and provided fantastic customer service. REI has always been one of my go-to places to shop and experiences like these just affirm the customer loyalty.

Had to wait way too much for a bike for my son. Its been delayed twice. They were saying they were overloaded with orders. Meanwhile I got my own bike from REI in Norwalk 3 weeks ago.I ordered this one to pick up from this location just because they promised delivery in two days. It took nearly one month after all. The high rating is due to REI as a whole - they were able to deliver the bike at all this crazy time, when all bikes sold out everywhere.

Website said to pick up at 3pm, but seems half the order is not even in stock. I ended up driving all the way for nothing. None of the employees were willing to do a step to help. I think I was expecting more than they deserve.

REI must stand for “Really Expensive Inside” because everything is over priced. You can literally find a better price anywhere other than inside of this store. Regardless of that item being the exact same thing or something comparable.

I have not been disappointed once the past 3 times Ive gone ;both Paramus location and East Hanover. Ben and Eric at the Paramus have shown me great customer service when I brought my Ghost mtn bike to be checked out for sounds after hitting some rough trails, got parts fixed or changed in 10 min, always left with a smile. Keep up the good work REI.Quick update,Fourth time Ive been here and had a great experience with Wallace and Marie in the bike shop department. We came in due to our bikes making a weird sound while shifting gears. Both associates were very knowledgeable, personable and professional. They made the experience very quick and easy. We left REI with fixed bikes and also more knowledge about how to keep our bikes in good condition.

Staff is educated, professional and very helpful. Products are of great price range and high quality. I signed up for their membership and found a lot of interesting classes. Classes I would recommend to strangers. I love places like REI. I would go broke, but feel assured I was prepare for just about any situation in the wilderness.

Great store for the great outdoors. The staff was ready for all my questions and helped me choose the right product off the shelf.Now your probably wondering why I gave them four out of five stars... No military discount.You would think that a store like this, and Im sure they cater to a vast military clientele, would offer this discount, sadly no. And for that reason, I kept one star for myself.

As I prepare for a 10-day backpacking hike to the Grand Canyon, I came to the store for guidance and to try out equipment. What a gem we found in one of their employees, Nate. This guy had real-time experience, gave us suggestions, tips, product specs and best use of material for both clothing and gear. He spent about an hour answering our (4 of us) questions and showing us products and alternatives.Though lots of the products were cheaper on Amazon, I would buy from this store because of the magnificent service Nate provided us. That type of service is rare these days. He treated us like we were the #1 clients. REI, please give this employee a promotion, accolades or recognition.He clearly demonstrated why REI has competitive advantage.

Ordered a bike online, with the Paramus store pick up. At the delivery date i received an email that it will take up to 7 days to assemble the bike. Nothing was ready in a week and when i called, they said it will take another week. I wish they mentioned it when i was shopping for the bike..

I love this place!!! My brother is a member there and visit with him when he goes. Prices are pretty good and staff is very knowledgeable. You will feel comfortable with your purchase. I have visited the store in Paramus and one other whose location escapes me but both were excellent!!

Dreary and depressing! The only amazing person in this facility is the head bicycle mechanic! This place needs some life! The folks that work dont feel genuine to me and I would really rather shop online but sometimes its convenient because I travel up and down this road.

Went to purchase a Yeti cooler as a Father’s Day gift not realizing today is the garage sale.Note to regular buyers they are not interested in regular sales today. There are no sales people to help. I asked the cashier for help and she was simply rude. I asked her to call a sales person to help me and he was useless. He basically said they didn’t have it in stock and for me to go home and order it.Thanks for nothing REI. I will buy my $400.00 Yeti cooler at Dicks Sporting Goods.

I really enjoy shopping at this REI. So glad its located across the street from Bergen town center as parking is much easier. They seem to have less staffing recently though. You have to look for someone to help you. They seem to be really low on stock of winter base layers and complete array of sizes and its only October!

Lame! All clothes, no equipment. Pretty expensive.
