I had never been to the Health Center before last week and I was a little confused going in, but everyone I encountered answered every question I had. The nurse, doctor, insurance and pharmacy departments were very helpful and friendly. The medicine I was prescribed did exactly as it was supposed to and I was able to return to my daily routine. I am so satisfied with my experience with the UCF Health Center!

The facility is really clean and most staff is very respectable. However the male doctor I saw in the sports medicine clinic for a UTI was clearly not very familiar with vaginal health and was not helpful at all. All other experiences I have has was with female doctors and nurse practitioners and they have been very thorough and considerate of me as a patient.

Decent service, nothing special, but it will get you by if you dont have other options. My insurance didnt approve them, so I paid in full for all appointments and labs. The labs I had done were over $50, and Psychiatry appointments were $20, and and the dietitian appointments were $10. I believe there were also charges for regular PCP visits, but I cant remember for certain how much they were. Definitely a lot better than most out of pocket prices, but if you have insurance and a means to attend appointments off campus, Id recommend going somewhere else.

Only go here if you have no where else to go for COVID testing. I went in for a rapid test and ended up finding myself trying to explain my living situation for this nurse to do my test. She was rude and condescending, and I’m not letting someone with an attitude stick something up my nose. We’re already informed as students on why/when we should get tested, I shouldn’t get questioned about my personal life and space by someone who isn’t my doctor and in a public space at that. I can’t believe I need an explanation on why I’m choosing to be safe. I left and went to get tested elsewhere. I only gave two stars because I have had one doctor appointment here that actually went well, that’s why I thought it would be okay to get a COVID test here.

The UCF health center is an amazing resources for students like me who can’t afford medical insurance. I’ve gone here many times and often leave without having to pay a single dollar. Even for blood work and other labs AND a prescription it cost me less than 40 dollars self pay. The doctors are kind and I never feel like my appointment is being rushed, on top of this I’ve usually been able to get in within hours of calling to make an appointment. The building is immaculately clean, the nurses are amazing and so kind. Everyone in this place is simply phenomenal. Prior to being a UCF student I was forced to go without medical care due to the cost, but I can easily pay the prices charged here.

Not sure what all of the bad ratings have experienced but the UCF dental center has been nothing but amazing. The dentist has been kind and understanding. As he works he is very gentle on the patient and constantly checks on your comfort levels. He explains everything that he is doing as he does it. The dental technicians are also very nice they follow the same levels of care as the dentist. So far all of the work I have had done has been quality work and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend the UCF dental center if you want quality work done in a calming environment. My only complaint is that wait times for appointments can be quite long but is understandable considering how many people they need to service. Maybe they should hire another dentist eventually.

Before I start, let me just very quickly give a little background : at the time of writing this, I am a freshman who just started at UCF and I moved in just a couple weeks ago (Saturday August 15, 2020). So, I went to Student Health Services not for an appointment, but rather I had actually been selected to win a gift card to the UCF Bookstore for filling out the UCF COVID Self-Checker on the UCF Mobile app, which was a LINK activity. I showed up literally at the very end of the pickup window (the window was from 9AM-4PM, and I showed up right at 4). I wasnt sure how legit my win was (I was just notified about it via email) and even some of the front office staff werent sure either, but they were all super friendly and still let me in anyway. Then, they called the person in charge of the giveaway to confirm it was legitimate; apparently, that person was temporarily out, but one of the employees in the office was so kind that she overheard the call and went to retrieve the gift card and give it to me. The whole time, all the staff remained super kind and super enthusiastic for me, to the point that they seemed almost happier for me getting the gift card than I did. And, despite all the confusion, the whole ordeal took less than 10 minutes. I cant express how thankful I am to UCF and to all the hardworking and amazing, kind staff I encountered at UCF Student Health Services.Again, I didnt go there for an appointment; I just felt that their kindness, dedication, and enthusiasm owed them some sort of a reward, and a good review was the least I could give them. :)

Last year I had work done at the Dental office at UCF. I do have dental insurance but it was out of network. However, I was willing to pay upfront and was excited to try the office since I go to UCF. For my first visit, I was treated by a female dentist who I can’t recall her name. I experienced a substantial amount of discomfort and pain, but I thought it was normal. I also felt really uncomfortable because the dentist and hygienist were having an entire conversation about Tennessee and flight prices. The hygienist suctioned up my skin a few times and I had a few canker sores afterward. I felt like they weren’t paying attention to me or focusing. I understand it was probably a routine process for them, but for me it was scary and I didn’t feel like they cared about what they were doing at all. They also seemed to be kinda annoyed with me for not closing my mouth fast enough, but it was because I was experiencing pain from the mouth piece. I tried to tell her but as soon as they pulled out the piece and I hit down they would put it right back in. She did tell me to raise my hand if I was experiencing a lot of pain, but I honestly felt very uncomfortable and a bit scared. I thought that this might be standard procedure, so I just continued. However, during my second visit my experience with a different dentist was completely different. I had no pain at all! No suctioning of my skin and no conversation about anything other than my teeth. The dentist was really careful, focused, and empathetic. I even told him I was experiencing some pretty substantial pain from my other visit and he corrected it so it felt much better. I’m leaving this review however because after sharing my experience with the office manager they never cancelled my next appt, I hadn’t noticed and was left with a no-show fee. I understand why this happened, but I’m sharing this because I want to recommend to UCF students to go elsewhere. It’s not even discounted substantially.

I have utilized many services at the UCF Health Center over the span of my first year at UCF. The pharmacy staff are extremely receptive to any questions and I never have trouble getting seen quickly for general care or other specialized services. The pricing of these services is much more affordable than my previous providers.Specifically, though, the UCF Dental Center has gone above and beyond to accommodate me. The receptionist, dentist, dental assistants, and all other staff do whatever they can to assist you. Dr. Lease is extremely informative and treats his patients with a lot of care. The providers I have met and had the pleasure of consulting with so far have been absolutely amazing, patient, knowledgeable, and professional. The front desk staff are helpful as well. I never had issues scheduling an appointment on the online patient portal, or cancelling/rescheduling an appointment over the phone. My one issue, is with the billing. I got an email stating I had an outstanding balance for services, and to pay soon or I will have a hold on my account. The only problem is, I never received a bill for anything! Not by my student email, not in my patient portal, not from USPS mail. So, I follow the link to view the balance, see what the charges are actually for since I have no idea, and to of course, pay. Yet I am unable to do any of the above because I am prompted to enter my Patient ID (something on the bill, which I never received) into the specified field in order to look up the charges. Taking care of this online would be much easier, but instead I guess I have to speak to someone over the phone about it.Please find some way to streamline receiving an actual bill because going over charges on paper/or screen before proceeding to pay, rather than have someone telling discussing them over the phone while referring to a document I have no way of looking at is not very transparent. I should not only be receiving an email prompting me to pay a bill in which I never received, that provides no way for me to VIEW my charges.

Two days went by and I had an 103 fever each night and couldnt even walk to my own car to see a different doctor. Would give zero stars if I could. I visited the dental office a few months ago for severe pain on the right side of my face, I figured it must have been a tooth issue. The dentist was not competent enough to give me sound advice, or to properly diagnose where the pain was coming from. Said dentist ended up charging me $450 for a god damn panoramic (you could get a panoramic for much less anywhere else!) and then referred me to a root canal specialist. The UCF dentist big plan was to have me get a root canal on a wisdom tooth, crown it, and then get the tooth removed, which would have costed thousands of dollars. I didnt know any better but thank God that the root canal specialist knew better. The root canal dentist properly educated me and told me that my pain was coming from my wisdom tooth, which had a huge cavity and an infection! The wisdom tooth needed to be REMOVED, and the root canal dentist saved me a lot of money by NOT doing a root canal. I recommend a local dentist that is much cheaper.EDIT: Ok, I am extremely sorry for getting the wrong price in my review. I had looked at my bank statements and mistook an unrelated charge for the dental visit. The ACTUAL charge was $120, not $450. But the plan of care is as Ive said in the review. I will be emailing you soon for more details.

However i ended up getting a fever again and felt weak so my i forced myself to take the long drive to primary care doctor where they diagnosed me with the flu....The nurse diagnosed me with a cold just because i didnt have a fever right then and there when they ran my temperature. I told her my body hurts and i dont know it just seemed like she kept normalizing my symptoms instead of actually listening to me. They didnt even test to see if i had the flu. It already hard enough to not have a clue on whats going on with your body but to walk out of a doctors office and feeling like you were just another name on a paper is the worst. They told him to come back for “part 2” (I’ve never heard this ever before) and then charged him another $40, again this was later when he saw his student account on hold. This price gouging is exploiting a UCF student, who is supposed to be “receiving a discount because he’s a UCF student.” First off I work for the State of Florida and pay for the best dental insurance they offer. Price gouging a student for $100 on top of his dental insurance, student discount, and this is a DENTAL SCHOOL? I’m so angry 😠 that UCF would allow this to happen. For those of you reading the negative comments, let me help clarify:As a student at UCF, I have visited the Health Center tons of times; I have received continuous care due to extenuating health issues. All of their policies are clearly stated either via phone call when you schedule, in the phone script BEFORE you schedule, or you sign forms WITH THE POLICIES ON THE FORMS. The policies are listed online, even on the WALLS of the Health Center, and there are people that are more than willing to explain every single policy that is at the Health Center. The students that are complaining about price gouging, charges for cancellations, etc... those are the students that call the clerks and do not listen to instructions, do not read the forms given to them at check in, and do not take advantage of the resources available to them. If you notice, the reviews are mostly either FIVE stars, or ONE star. Obviously, there are two sorts of patients- the ones that have a typical encounter at the UCF Student Health Center, and the ones that dont get things handed to them on a silver platter. Let me know if I can take pictures of any of said documents that state PRECISELY what the students ignored.

I have used this center for a variety of different medical appointments. Physical therapy, dentist, GP, psychiatry and more. By this I mean, the issues I experienced seemed to be endemic to the institution itself, and not simply one off coincidences, or failures of specific departments.I have not had Health Insurance since I was 10 years old. Many health issues developed in my early adulthood that were unable to be treated because I did not have a penny to my name.So imagine my joy when i realized that I could receive Health Care through the university. Finally! I could be set on the right path to a happier, more fulfilling life!To say that The care I received was a painful embarrassment to the entire profession of medicine as a whole, would be an understatement. The speed I raced away from the health center was matched only by the speed of Hipocrates spinning in his grave.Heres a synopsis of just one of my many, exhaustingly disappointing attempts to get healthy:Last time I went to a GP appt there, it was at 2 . so it’s like 1:50-1:55ish and I’m signing the paper work. For future reference , I do not notice a single other patient in the office during my entire time thereThe kind nurse does her rounds, shortly after 2 , checking my vitals etc.and then escorted me into the patient room. While walking from the waiting room to the nurses station, I see who I presume is my doctor enter a common/break area.I was waiting for the doctor for a number of minutes, but I though nothing of it. Its UCF, after all, does anything happen quickly, anywhere in Orlando? The first thing the dr says is “please arrive 15 minutes before your appt to fill out paperwork”. No introduction, no hand shake, no so tell me whats going on...yadda yadda. This person was some-how so clinical and robotic that I actually felt uncomfortable, despite being in the one facility where clinical stoicism is valued. .Ive had some interesting experiences in health care facilities.Ive had doctors who were a little too touchy-feely, or doctors that acted so friendly and familiar, as if they were my uncle or something. These are bad enough, but I would have preferred that over this Doctors Care.I have never immediately felt malaise and nauseous merely from the doctors presence, body language, and manners reminiscent of a robotic-android in disguise, trying to imitate sentience.(Fyi, The paperwork she wanted me to arrive 15 minutes early for was 2 signatures, And took less than 10 seconds to complete ) Im familiar with the paperwork from other visits and actually confident I couldve signed with my eyes closed tbh. It was not some long, exhaustive self-filled-out medical history form. It was a single piece of paper acknowledging my consent to receive medical care. )The Dr pointed to a sign asking patients not to use their cell phone during an appointment. Not a sign that said “please silence your cell phones”. No. It said “no cell phone usage”. I said why? She said it distracts patients when we are trying to make a diagnosis.I asked at what point during my visit she had attempted to make a diagnosis. I felt like asking when I accidentally stumbled into the child pediatricians office, or the daycare center for student-mothers on campus.

All of this lead to me talking to some friends, and lets just say for your safety, go somewhere else.Update Update: I stopped getting better & I was home so I went to my normal local doctor. She told me its very unlikely to have been a shampoo Ive had for months & actually listened to my concerns. She took her time and prescribed 3 meds. Adding up to a cost of 8$ that my pharmacist @ Target was able to fill with no problems. The one tube of cream UCF gave me was 10$ at target and about 5x the size of the one my local doctor gave me, She was interested to know why they gave me so much for just an ear as well. She didnt think the medication choice was bad, but I paid for way more than I will ever use. It seems the other comments are correct, they will up your prescription assuming you are going to buy it from them for profit then not accept your insurance if you buy it there, so at your expense.Update: I did get a call back to check on how things went in which what happened to me was investigated but everything was sort of over for me and it may simply be easier for someone with good insurance (as I) to go elsewhere but hopefully it will be better should you choose to go in & It is included in your tuition so knowing me I will likely try to use it as Im paying for it, but maybe not for something I know will result in me needing a medication. It might be a good idea to keep track of your providers so you can remember who you did and didnt like, that may take the uncertainness out of it.Make sure to double check everything, student workers dont care they sent me away saying they dont take my insurance (almost everywhere does & the pharmacist I spoke to at target said he doesnt believe that at all), with a photo of my script which the pharmacy would not take ( I didnt know better, my other doctor has always just sent it electronically after showing me what med Im picking up), he said there was no trace of an electronic copy sent to them, & the photo I had didnt even have a proper signature. I was turned away after the pharmacist tried his absolute best to contact UCF but they had just closed. The pharmacist told me my ear infection looks bad & I should get my medication asap.Worst part is, I was told, by todays UCF provider, the reason I have this infection is my shampoo, which was a recommendation by a UCF doctor last year when she told me my swollen lymph nodes were caused by my swave shampoo. Also I was very rushed today, and last time I felt the doctor had been sort of rude saying Well you dont have brain cancer and laughing when I asked her about the lumps on my head after I had gone through the initial questions where they ask are your parents live and well and I told them my dad had glioblastoma. Im not sure if it was a totally intentionally related or totally unintentional unrelated poor joke, but either way, the last two experiences Ive had have been nothing like my first few experiences where the people were great.

I had the worst womens health experience of my life. When I arrived, the front desk forgot to process my insurance, which isnt a big deal at all and the nice LPN was able to correct it right away during my initial exam. The LPN advised me to get undressed and wait for the dr. As I was getting undressed, the doctor knocked on the door. How did I know it was the doctor? She waltzed in before I could tell her it would be another minute. She said that shell be back and closed the door. After I finish getting into the patient garment, she comes back in. Instead of a normal introduction/wow its been a while since your last pap/hows the break she proceeds to ask about how Im prescribed birth control. I explained that Ive been using the same doctor since I came to UCF and was prescribed through him. She asks how long Im prescribed for. I say a year. She asks how Im prescribed for a year if I didnt have a womans health exam. Fun fact, you dont need a womans health exam to be prescribed birth control! She asks why I havent had a pap in so long. I explain I couldnt really afford it as I was uninsured. I explain I was on my insurance portal yesterday and there was no claim for a womans health exam. Basically ping ponging questions back and forth as Im on the table in a hospital garb that barely conceals anything. She then says that I MUST have had a womans health exam if I have a prescription for birth control. I, again, tell her that I have not had one this year. She then asks me to call the front desk. I ask her to leave the room and she does. I get dressed in my clothes. I go about calling my insurance, since shes so worried about a claim for a womans health exam. She knocks as Im on the phone and comes in and starts working on something on the computer. I realize that the insurance route is going to take me a long time and tell her so. Then call your doctor.I ask her to leave the room while I call my doctor. She says, No, Im charting. While clicking away at whatever on the computer. I do NOT feel comfortable talking to my doctor, who Ive known for 6 years, about anything medical in front of anyone, even if its another doctor. At this point I give up and leave the room and the clinic. Ladies, if someone makes you uncomfortable in any examination you have the right to leave.

I am super disappointed in the UCF pharmacy, they are bascially closed most of December and do not think to give you enough prescriptions to last through that time. I have left messages on the phone but they only check the messages certain days so if they dont check it youre screwed. So now I have to go a few days without a medication that I need because there is no one working to transfer anything

For cleaning and check-up, was less expensive than dental insurance premium with co-pay. Very nice looking exam area, very friendly staff, dentist provided excellent explanations about my problems.

Very similar to the DMV. If they can find any reason to turn you away from your appointment they will. Dont expect to get seen anywhere near closing or lunch time. You should expect to wait irregardless of your appointment time.

Always have had good visits here, they are quick and kind to what you are telling them. Would definitely recommend them to anyone going to UCF and even not going there.

Went in to figure out a womens health issue, saw me once, took blood and then forgot to call me with results. Then they gave me birth control without actually looking into what the problem was and didnt tell me until I came in on my own. Never was examined and made the wrong appointment for the follow up. Worst time Ive had here ever.

Went and had a second opinion because the dentist on staff pointed out so many problems. This made me question his professional opinions. I am glad I did as I saved myself hundreds of dollars in unnecessary procedures. Always get a second opinion even if that person is giving professional advice.

Waste of time. They do not have in place all they claim to have. The doctor was trying to sell me on some services outside of UCF health...
