Heather was amazing! I have the perfect dog because of Heather.
Heather is a great trainer. Our German shepherd has come so far since we started taking her. She had reactive/aggression issues and heather gave us all the tools/games/ places to go/ things to do/ how to use an E-collar etc. Her Separation anxiety has tremendously improved. she used to tear up our walls, chew everything in sight and poop all over her self and the kennel. NOT ANYMORE. She is happy to be left alone and loves her wolf den (Kennel). Price is a little more than others and she is kind of far from us. but in the end we it was worth it because now we have a dog who listens to us and loves to go on road trips. Normally Heather closes at 6 but she worked with us so that we could make it to all 5 our classes. Her story is amazing when you guys get to know her btw.5 Stars
Heather is extremely knowledgeable and wonderfully persuasive with all of her sujects and well worth the cost of her personal and internet instructions. No one better than Heather! Highly recommended!
We love Heather. She is always there to help us in any way she can. She has helped us calm our hyper active Blue Heeler, she has taught us out to be advocates for our dog, and she has even come to our vet visits to insure we were getting the right pain regimen for our dog. She is the best trainer and I know she truly loves animals.
I was having a massive problem with my dog jumping my fence to go after other dogs and being unable to take him out of my yard without both of us having a meltdown. I found Heather through a dog group online and when I found out she was in southern UT, I was sold! She helped me learn how to help my dog exist peacefully in the world and how I can advocate for him to keep him comfortable! We even went off leash (after MONTHS of training and prepping for it) for the first time ever last week!
Weve worked with Heather for 3+ years now (and 2 dogs). Weve done in person and online sessions. Heather trains the owners as much as the dogs. She gives you the tools and education to balance your dog and keep them balanced. What is especially great about Heather is how much she truly cares about her clients and their dogs. She is always available for advice and even emotional support. After training if you need pointers or to better understand something, she will be there to help. Throughout working with her we have shared the highs and the lows, happiness and tears. She was there for us throughout it all! I highly recommend her and her programs.
My dog and I took virtual lessons with Project K9 due to the pandemic. It was just as effective as being in person. Within the first 3 virtual lessons, my dog started paying more attention to me. He started walking right next to me all the time. He stopped trying to break out of his crate when I left him alone. Heather taught me how to communicate with my dog and understand better how he should behave. Romeo now comes when I called him (I used to have to chase him down). All that was accomplished during 3 virtual lessons! Now that weve completed the program, I know that he will listen to me and stay by me on or off his leash. We can go hiking comfortably and safely and I can finally leave the house without him. Looking back, I wish wouldve started training with Heather the day I got my dog. It would have made our first few months together a lot easier. I have a lot more trust in my dog to be overall well behaved. I am so happy and it was money and time well spent for sure!
Project K9 is amazingly helpful and knowledgable. Heather has really studied her craft and knows so much about dogs, from genetics, to health, to therapies, and most of all TRAINING! Thats why you looked up this page right?Ive been around dogs my whole life and had dogs as an adult. When I found Heather I was dealing with a particularly difficult dog. Heather was so knowledgable and helpful She helped calm my anxieties and gave me the training and hope I needed too. When yet another new dog we added to our family she was also wonderful. This boy was a total 180 from the difficult dog and he became even better after spending time with Heather.Whether you needs are daycare, boarding, nutrition questions, or training (basic or advanced) this is where to get the help you need! Heather is open to help anyone at anytime and has such a big heart. All my dogs have loved her. When boarding my dogs; one of my them, my elderly toy breed, got very sick. The old little girl was all ready being treated for glaucoma and while we were out of town her glaucoma blew up and she went blind in one eye. Heather took such good care of her. She got her to a local vet right away and got her the surgery she needed. Heather kept me up to date on what was happening as we were so far away and couldnt fly home to help our little baby. Heather even helped her post surgery and took such good care of her. I have no doubt that if my little toy breed had been at a normal boarding place she probably would have passed away from the glaucoma blow up. Heather truly saved her life. We are forever grateful.
Heather is the best. A super-experienced professional. She understands how dogs and people think and feel so she knows how to overcome the inhibitions we both have to proper training. Follow her methods and use her tools and you will have guaranteed success. Our young Irish Setter was 100% out of control. We tried all the online free tips and tricks and nothing worked. He chewed up everything, ran wild, and liked to bite and jump on you all in good fun. We literally could not turn our backs on him. It was exhausting and we thought we would have to get rid of him because we couldn’t get him under control. After just 4 lessons with Heather we were back in charge and Murphy had a future in our family. We are so grateful to Heather for saving our relationship and making it so we can enjoy our pet.
Super underwhelmed. After my vet Recomended Project K9 I signed my new puppy up. Paid $1400.00 and in the end about all my dog learned was sit, place, drop it, and leave it. I thought I was going to end up with a well mannered dog. For this kind of money I feel I should have gotten more. My dog is now two and a half and we had to pay to do other training that was a lot less money. She chases after our cats so she can’t just be in the house out of her kennel without supervision. I adore the trainer but for the money I wish I had gone to a competitor. Makes me a bit sick to think of the money spent and what I received.
Heather is an amazing trainer! I did her virtual session program with my corgi and it was so amazing! I was skeptical at first if I could implement things on my own but Heather talked me through everything with great detail! If you’re on the fence about if virtual sessions would work for you, I say go for it! You might as well use being stuck at home right now to your advantage and spruce up your dogs skills!
My puppies and I *love* training with Heather! My dogs dont need to be trained as much as I do. Heather gives me the skills to work with them. An informed pet parent leads to a better behaved pet. Heather is easy to work with and she provides solid, everyday tools to make a good dog a great one! She also helps keep *me* in place and calm. 💜
We have a dog with severe social anxiety and fear aggression. Heather has been helping us rehabilitate him. He has made leaps and bounds in his social and behavioral attributes that will, over time, let everyone see just how loving of a dog he is. Without the help of project k9 this would have never been possible.
We were in over our heads trying to train our 8 month old very reactive and fearful large pup. Within a week we noticed a change in her behavior. Karma enjoyed learning and became more confident. At the end of her training we were even able to take her to public dog events without fear of what she would do. Heather is a game changer! Karma is very grateful.
We adopted a rescue dog and were having problems with dog aggression. Hes a small little boston terrier that was convinced he was a malinois, thought he could be the boss of everyone. He loves people and is the sweetest thing, but we were afraid to take him in public for his own safety. We contacted Heather after a bad experience with another local trainer whos methods were very aggressive and made him worse. We left him in Heathers care and couldnt be happier we did. She took care of him as if he were her own. She trained him on an e collar (one that she showed us was more like hitting a funny bone and wasnt painful), and by the time he got home he was a totally different dog. His resource guarding had stopped, he walked even better on a leash, and we felt comfortable enough taking him to the oregon coast for a family vacation because now when dogs come around he ignores them or looks to us for guidance. He is so much happier and we are so grateful we trusted Project K9. He no longer rushes the door when guests come over and I can put him in a place and have them come in and he wont move, it has been so amazing. If youre looking for a trainer I would only trust Project K9!
She is super nice and super helpful. When we called for an opinion on the options for our dogs behavior, she took her time to talk with us and reassure us that we were on the right track and offer suggestions and did not rush us off the phone or dismiss us at all. We got off the phone feeling reassured and ready to continue. Having someone help and offer their time when they werent promised payment or that we would end up a client was amazing.
We had the opportunity to work with this amazing trainer Heather as we embark on getting my son a ESA and soon to be therapy dog. I cant say enough amazing things about her program. Not only was her one on one sessions amazing but her online training was SO BENEFICIAL. We were able to work with our dog in our home and re-watch things that we need to work on more for guidance. AND she was in touch with us every week fine tuning the things we had learned. She is worth every penny. We have noticed so much change in our pup and the relationship with my son that they have bonded is phenomenal. I KNOW it is with the help of Heather that this happened. My son has HIGH anxiety with selective mutism, he is terrified of animals (due to a dog attack) but Heather was able to help them both bond this relationship. Not only have we learned basic commands and training techniques, but we have learned so much about taking care of our new family member. Again...HIGHLY RECOMMEND her online program and actually all her programs she offers, she is AMAZING!!!
Heather is amazing! She spent so much time talking to me to help me with my dog. My dog has some anxiety and it’s obvious that she cares for him. She is very smart and really knows her stuff about dogs! Can’t wait to use her in the future!
Ive never owned a dog and my daughter has wanted a dog her whole life (shes 14.) She wanted a dog to do agility training with so we ended up with a Border Collie she named Izzy. I kept reading about how smart this breed is and I was worried I was in over my head! I did a search for dog trainers in the Utah Valley area and was so lucky to have found Heather. We put her in a ten day boarding program and it helped a lot to have her practically crate trained, potty trained and walking on a leash, which she would never do for us! Now I am taking classes called Puppy to Perfect and its helping me to understand Izzy and what works to get the results you want. Starting out with a great trainer has helped us enjoy her more. Heather is more knowledgable than anyone Ive ever met, when it comes to dogs. Shes kind, patient but firm, understands dogs instincts and really cares about her doggy clients. Shes great with the human ones too! So I would recommend her highly to anyone! We love Project K9!
Heather, founder of Project K-9, is seriously a life saver! I will recommend her to EVERYONE as long as she is in business. I came to Heather desperate to deal with my pup’s anxiety issues. I got Penny as a 2 yr old, discarded by a puppy mill. She’d had 2+ litters before I got her. Penny went through about a month transition period where she ate EVERYTHING: blinds, gloves, boots, furniture, everything. As time went on, we noticed she didn’t like strangers coming to the house. She became aggressive and more so if the individual showed any fear. We moved and she got worse. She’d attack the door if the doorbell rang. She’d lung and run the fence line as people walked by. We tried to keep her inside, but felt it was cruel. We tried spraying her with water. I’m not proud of it, but I smacked her butt on several occasions, meeting her aggression with more aggression. One day it all came to a head. She escaped the yard and bit 2 dogs who were walking by with their owner. I just thank the Lord she didn’t go after the man. Both dogs survived, one needed stitches. I was cited for having an aggressive animal. I contacted Heather immediately in a panic. Heather had worked with Penny & I about 10 months before and I knew she could help us teach Penny to make better decisions. When we met with Heather, we discovered that Penny was very emotionally in-tune with my feelings and I was the one who was making Penny anxious. Heather created a personalized training program for Penny AND me! Realizing I was a huge part of the issue was eye opening for me and I believe the most helpful. We followed Heather’s program and Penny improved almost overnight. We now have the correct tools and the knowledge to use them properly. Heather empowered us to be better parents. It’s been a little more than a year since we did Heather’s program and Penny is 100% a different dog. She’s able to ignore folks walking by, dogs walking by, and our very aggressive neighbor dog who barks and runs the fence line constantly. We’re still working on boundaries with our toddler, but we have the tools to do this now. Penny is so good with our toddler; it’s incredible. It is completely Heather’s tools that make it possible for us to have a safe environment for Penny and our toddler.Heather literally saved Penny’s life. When I was cited for an aggressive animal I was required to appear before a Judge and because of the immediate inception into Heather’s program and the letter she wrote about Penny’s progress, we were able to keep Penny from being euthanized. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE Heather and will support her business FOREVER. She is completely worth the 40-minute drive for us. Thank you Heather and Project K9!Chelsea Harvey
Heather with Project K9 has been such a joy to work with! She has such an understanding of all aspects of training! From what training collar to use, to pack mentality to even proper dog nutrition. If you are in need of a trainer, look no further! The Project K9 gets 5 stars!!!Updated 4/24/2014 Had a day of doggy daycare drop off for our puppy while we had family in town. Our pup Sookie had a blast! She treated her like one of her own dogs. When she got home she was dog-gone tired. Just the way we like it. We will definitely be doing this again! Thanks Heather!
We took in a 10 month old Pit bull as a foster this summer. I called Heather as I was concerned about having a new dog in my home, and we also had an 8 year old chocolate lab that was selectively aggressive. Aspen was very high energy, but it quickly became clear that she was ready to learn. Heather came to the house for training, and I was very impressed with her leadership style. Over 5 lessons she covered the basics of sit, stay, down, place, distance sit/stay and distractions during sit/stay, and leash work with a haltie. The humans got as much training as Aspen did! She is still high energy, but now it is controlled and we know how to manage it. She is now off leash 90% of the time in the house! I am happy to say our foster dog is now an obedient, polite and respectful Pit Bull, and such a sweetie, that we adopted her!!! Heather also evaluated my “aggressive” lab, and helped me to see that her behavior was due to pain in her hips and leg. Because of her insights, we have been able to get her the help she needs. Thank you Heather!!!
I found Project K9 by checking out a pack walk awhile back and Im so glad I did! I was having a really hard time controlling my big dog and Heather spent a lot of time talking with me and patiently helping me. I knew we had a lot of issues to work through and finally decided to go with her 4 week board and train program. It was exactly the reset button I needed for my dog! He has finally learned to manage his excitability and remain in a calm state of mind, and we can actually enjoy him again in our home. He is walking nicely on a leash, not pulling us down the sidewalk, and doesnt bust through the house knocking everything over in his path. He also used to have a very difficult time with people stopping by the house and he would have to be locked in a crate the whole time we had visitors but he would be barking the whole time. It was so embarrassing and stressful for us all, and a real problem. Since hes been back with us, Im amazed at how well he handles visitors - even workers with noisy equipment - and stays nicely in his designated place, with no barking, and no pushing into peoples space begging for attention. It is so nice to feel like he is not only a lot better behaved but also much happier too, being able to stay calm and peaceful. I love Heathers approach of bringing into balance all aspects of the dogs life, and Im confident he was very well taken care of during his time with her. I also know that if I have questions or concerns I can contact her anytime! Project K9 was a lifesaver!
Heather was fantastic with our Great Dane. She has given us tools to work with our dog. She is much calmer and more well-behaved. Heather is always quick to get back to me if I have any questions or concerns as we continue to help our dog learn and behave. I would recommend her to anyone!
As a dog breeder Im very particular about who I recommend to my new puppy owners for training their puppy. Heather is very intuitive in her approach to help grow a puppys confidence. All my people have reported back how great she and her program are for their dog and peace of mind.
I have been able to attend several of Heathers pack walks and a walking work shop. She is professional and knows what shes talking about. She loves what she does and it shows! She is more than willing to take the time to answer my questions and help in any way that she can. She knows behavior, nutrition and is a great trainer for any problem or just getting off on the right foot.
I have an almost 2 year old mixed breed dog. She is nothing fancy, not a pure breed. But to me she is everything. Project K9 helped me learn to help my Missy be all the dog she could be. Heather at Project K9 trained Missy for 10 days, a board and train. On day 1 my dog was shut down and refusing to acknowledge the training. By day 10 she was walking calmly on a leash, sitting still and waiting for permission to move. The training didn’t stop there. Heather sent me home with plenty of homework, house rules, and plenty of confidence. She has been a text or phone call away, giving advice and genuinely concerned for me and Missy. This is more than a dog training facility, it’s where dogs can be dogs, and owners get trained.
They did a great job in training our dog after multiple places failed. They have fantastic boarding facilities. The owner is extremely friendly and knows what she is talking about.
Heather trained our German Shepherd Copper, she is so well-trained and obedient now, she is like the perfect dog. We notice a huge difference in the way she behaves and when we go out on walks or out in public she is so well behaved compared to other dogs, the difference is amazing. Heather did an excellent job and she is also great for boarding. We absolutely highly recommend Heather, she is awesome for training, nutrition, boarding etc..
Heather knows her stuff, with dogs as well as people. Both are essential to being a successful dog trainer. She really brings the human side to dog training and the dog side to human training; an advocate for human and dog alike.
We have had our dogs boarded with Project K9 a couple of times and it was been a great experience. We didnt have to worry about medicine being given on time or not getting exercise. She sent us pictures and updates. It was stress free and the dogs had a great time!
Heather of Project K9 is a phenomenal trainer! Weve worked with her with our Mini Goldendoodle, Cooper, and she helped him learn so much discipline and impulse control during the board and train program. She also helped empower us and taught us how to continue responsible training at home so that he keeps his good habits. Shes incredibly experienced and has a wealth of knowledge related to dogs and how they think and act. Very highly recommended!
We have been working with Heather since we rescued our dog, Beau, as a pup. We have had such a great experience and have learned so much. She helped us recognize and correct early signs of food aggression, potty training, crate training, behavioral issues, proper correction methods and leash work. Beau also has a sensitive stomach and Heather has taught us how to give him the proper nutrition. We have had such a positive experience and are so happy that she has given us the confidence to raise a happy and healthy dog!
I boarded my dogs with Project K9 for 9 days over Thanksgiving vacation and had a wonderful experience. My dogs received plenty of TLC and time to socialize with the other dogs. I also discovered during that time that my Boxer, who I believed to be dog aggressive, was perfectly non-aggressive during her stay! I found some fun photos of my dogs on Project K9s Facebook page after I came home. I highly recommend Heather for boarding services.
I never understood why training is so important before I met Heather at Project K9. She has a real gift, and a passion for what she does. She helped us learn how to look at training as more than sit, stay and come. Heather worked with the 10 month old pitbull we fostered, and because of the training we ALL received, we adopted that dog! Ive watched Heather work with big dogs, little dogs, fearful and aggressive dogs. She is so patient, and kind. Project K9 is an investment worth every penny!
Project K9 was a life saver during the first year of our puppy’s life. We had encountered a lot of difficulty with housebreaking, manners, chewing, etc., with our giant Newfoundland puppy and we were beyond frustrated and didnt know what else to do with him. That is when Project K9 came in to assist us with these issues through a personally tailored training program. Heather was able to handle the special needs of a giant breed dog, and my dog, Griffin, respected her. She gave us the tools and confidence we needed to turn our difficult puppy into a dog we enjoy and is much better behaved. We will continue to use and recommend the services Project K9 offers.
I have had tbe opportunity to work with Heather from project k9 at the pack walk socials. She is so patient with myself and my very hyper 160lb Great Dane, Kitty. We enjoy going to the socials, Kitty and I learn new tricks to help us be successful every time we go, Not to mention how good my Kitty sleeps after just an hour of work. Thanks Heather and project k9!!!
Ive been able to go to several of Project K9s pack walks and also a walking/leash training. Heather is great. One of the first things you notice about her is her love of dogs but theres so much more to her than that. She has an incredible knowledge of dog behavior, why theyre doing what theyre doing and how to correct it. If you want to learn about nutrition, from the best kibbles to going raw, she knows it all. Whatever you and your dog need help with, she knows it all. Obedience, manners, behavior issues, you cant go wrong with Project K9.
Heather is awesome. She wasnt able to take my puppy but she still spent 30 minutes with me sharing knowledge and making sure I found someone who could help.
Heather is a very nice girl and gave us some good tips for helping our dog. But after 3 sessions and not seeing much progress we decided it wasnt worth the cost. Heather called our dog stubborn. But the thing that we are most disappointed about was when we left on a vacation we boarded our dog with Heather. Heather lives in a residential area and uses a bark collar so the dogs dont disturb her neighbors. When we came back from our trip, we found sores all along our dogs neck from the bark collar. If you are looking for a place to board your dog, consider a place that wont shock and torture them for barking.
We brought Hershey to Project K9 for a 10 day board and train. He has learned to calm down and walk off-leash nicely. He is also learn to be an expert at the place command, and he no longer jumps on visitors! I strongly recommend Project K9 for any of your training needs.
Heather is great, she helped me train my husky to be of leah its still a work in progress but weve gone a long way from where we started, would recommend her to everyone I know
Heather is a wonderful trainer. She really listens to what the owner wants to do and works with the dog and the family to accomplish those goals. She is patient, friendly and is just great around the animals.
I grew up with animals my entire life and recently lost the dog that we rescued after 8 years. After tons of looking around at shelters we decided to look for a breed specific dog and decided on a boxer. After a few months we realized that we must have been lucky with our other animals because our little Rex was becoming more than a handful especially with challenging me and puppy mouthing around our son. Heather was able to quickly assess Rex and gave us the training tools we needed to help him become a part of our family. After the first training session, I learned how to become a better pack leader and Rex was quickly learning to respect my role. My husband learned how to be more patient and how to properly train our new puppy. And best of all, even our 5yr old son was able to teach him how to behave and listen. Thanks for all your help and everything you’ve shown us!!!!
Ive had my dog MJ for almost two years now, and I got him when he was a year and a half old. Hes my first dog that Ive had on my own, and I put us in some sketchy situations with other dogs, leading to MJ being repeatedly bullied and in some cases attacked by another dog. Heather gave ME the training and tools I needed to build back up our relationship, and to help MJ trust and rely on me to take care of him. MJ now listens to me, has more independence, trusts me, and is able to walk calmly with me in public. We can go in stores now without him lashing out, and Ive only had one incident when he freaked out because another dog came running towards him, and I was able to get between them and get MJ calm enough to rely on me to help get him out of the situation. This has been an amazing growing experience and I have definitely recommended Heather to ALL of my dog friendly people.
I boarded my two pups with Project K9 when I went out of town for my fathers funeral. During such a stressful time, it was a relief to know my furkids were being taken care of just as I personally would. We have also participated in a couple of the group pack walks and mini-socials. Not only did my pups learn socialization and walking skills, but I personally learned a lot about leadership and how to develop my proper role with them.I recommend Project K9 to anyone who is looking for assistance with any training and/or boarding needs. I know they will not be disappointed!!
Heather, with Project K9, has helped my dog a lot in the short time hes been training with her. My dog went through basic training through another facility, but his separation anxiety, disrespectful behavior, bossy attitude, and over excitement didnt exhibit in that first training. I came to Project K9 desperate for relief from the stress of him bullying my other dog, trying to rule the house, and not following instructions the first time. It’s been a few weeks now, and he’s turned into a whole new dog! Through a few small changes made on how I handle him--a different training collar, using my body to keep him on place instead of my voice, not letting him sleep in my bed at night--has changed him. His relationship with my other dog is better--they play now instead of fight or avoid each other, he is more relaxed in his kennel, he’s stopped barking at me to get me to do what he wants me to do, and he goes on place when I ask him to the first time. The atmosphere in our house has also gotten better since I am less stressed about his behavior. I know we still have work to do to keep him behaving, but I can’t thank Project K9 enough--they saved our little family.
Heather is a great trainer! We have two dogs who were showing alot of behavioural problems and Heather has worked with both of them on those issues. She has sent us home with the knowledge and tools we need to continue this new life style with our dogs. Our home is alot more calm and our walks are less stressful. We will continue to do training with Projectk9! I would recommend Projectk9 to anyone who is having issues with their dog, whatever the issue may be..she can help fix it!
I cant even tell you how much I love Projectk9! My pup has changed for the better because of their programs. We went to a Pack Walk(they host for FREE but of course we love to tip😉) to see what it was about and it took just 5 mins(5 mins max people!!!) for Heather to show/teach us 1 of the huge challenges we had with our dog! We have used the daycare and have had some 1 on 1 training sessions with the ecollar... The day after each session our pup picks-up on her training so quickly because of all the guidance and advice from Projectk9! So happy we found them and are definately committed for life! Thank you Projectk9💗💗💗
Heather is the bees knees!! I seriously owe her so much. My 5 year old shi tzu (Fred) got into some chocolate covered raisins. I went into panic mode and couldnt even think clearly not knowing what was going to happen to my Fred. I contacted Heather and without hesitation, she headed right over. 2 years later, Fred is still awesome and so is Heather. I will always go to Heather first when it comes to any of my fur babies. Thank you so much, Heather.
Love the pack walks, well worth the drive from Salt Lake.
Thanks Heather, for providing clear, real-life, unique-to-us training!
Great duck pond
Absolutely fantastic
