Small to Tall pediatric dentistry was by far the best dental experience Ive ever had. My very anxious 7 year old daughter felt very comfortable with Dr. Craig and insisted on sending her a thank you card after two difficult procedures that felt like a breeze thanks to the delightful staff, Dr. CRAIG and Dr. LEE, Anesthesiologist. Thank you!!! We look forward to the next visit! (Never thought I would ever say that about a dentist!!!)

I am extremely picky about dentists especially when it comes to my children. This dentist office is truly remarkable. They cater to the youngest of children to the teens. They have a play area for the children to play so you are not sitting in a stuffy dentist office. They make it so comfortable you are at ease. Books for those little ones that want to read. One of the scariest things for children is the dentist office. Heck for that matter is is the same for adults. These people nailed it. Not only is it fun for the children but they make you feel welcome. They are extremely informative about what they are going to do. Everyone makes you feel at home. Friendly smileing faces is a plus. They offer surgical procedure for you at the facility and they can also send you out to hospital which is just next door. They take most all insurances and will work with you. At the end of your visit they give you tokens so your child can receive a toy. I have brought one of my children. I will be bringing two more. I wish they had something like this when I was growing up. Great establishment.

Small to Tall is DIALED IN. From scheduling our first appointments, taking my nervous-about-sugarbugs-kids (I have four) into a new place and being welcomed and treated with dignity, walking through x-rays and exams, and visiting the treasure box drawer filled with sugar-free gum...all of these moments added up to a supreme first experience for our family. Dr. Ruder was attentive, funny, and engaged so well with my kiddos. You will love Small to Tall! Im someone who really cares about the details and there is an attention to all of them at this practice. Really happy!

Was super excited to go to such a great rated dentist for my daughter. However her very first appointment, she was to sick to go, instead I ended up taking her to the ER without remembering to call to cancel. They wont accept her now. What a way to give a mother of 3 a second chance! Ill take my kids to a dentist office that understands certain situations and doesnt rate me by how many lazy parents make an appointment and just skip for no reason.

I am a doctor and a mother so am particularly sensitive to office flow and experience. This office is remarkable from front to back. It does not matter which doctor you see or which assistant. They are all very much informed on your child and his/her unique needs. They are truly looking for a long term patient base and take the time in early visits to go slow until the child is very very confident and comfortable. The office is lovely, convenient and welcoming but it is really the long term staff ( most have been with the office for 10 years or more and many were once patients themselves !) who make the experience so comforting. We have been there now for several years and look forward to at least 10 more!

We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Ruder as well as the rest of the staff. They did everything that they could to make sure my child was covered and cared for. I cannot express the gratitude I have for this office enough. What they did for my daughter gave her confidence and helped her feel as beautiful as she truly is. Shes no longer afraid to smile, and no longer afraid of the dentist. The way they cater to the children even in the word choices they make are amazing. Thank you Small to Tall Pediatric Dentistry for the care and compassion you showed my child as well as how it was extended to my husband and I. I am now in the process of getting my grandchildren set up here, and knowing that 2 generations of my family will have been taken care of by this office is awesome and we will continue to come to them for all the oral health care they can help with.

I took all four of my kids to Small to Tall their whole childhoods. They loved the care there so much, two of them became dental assistants and one of them works at Small to Tall now. In the 20+ years I took children there, I have never had a single complaint. My children were treated with kindness and compassion, and I was treated with respect while having every procedure explained fully. I now have grandchildren who go there, and love the place and the people just as much as their parents did.

We just recently switched over to Small to Tall and let me just say....WOW. The dentist has always been an anxiety filled (complete with panic attacks) experience for our daughter and the second we walked inside she was calm. The amazing tree house that greets you and the tranquil environment soothed her so much I was truly astonished. The staff was incredibly kind especially in the chaos of getting documents transferred over and I truly loved and appreciated our first visit being in our own private room to ease my daughters remaining anxiety even more. She is so excited for her next visit and to be able to get another excellent report and to be able to play in the tree house again!Thank you so much Small to Tall for truly having children in the front of your mind when creating the most inviting, calming, and truly phenomenal environment. You dont feel like youre at the dentist and for a little girl who is terrified of that environment she never showed a sign of fear. Just pure curiosity on what she would discover next.

My children actually look forward going to the dentist and have had a great experience each and every time- whether the appointment was just for a checkup or a treatment plan. The hygienists are all very friendly and sweet and have the childs best interest at heart. All of the dentists weve had at the practice have been amazing with the same attention to kindness and compassion. My kiddos have grown a great relationship with one in particular, Dr. Ruder and the office management is great about trying to schedule with the dentist theyve grown up with. The practice as a whole listens to my concerns as a mom and I never feel dismissed or silly for any questions or concerns that I may have. I feel confident that our familys decision in choosing Small to Tall has been one that will give our children a strong positive view of dental health into their adult years. If only they had been an option when I was a kid! :-)

Its apparent small to tall treats their employees poorly. Ive drawn this conclusion by hearing the way the dental assistants speak to their front office counterparts. Its also easy to see the resentment the staff holds for the dentists and office manager. Id say poor leadership has trickled down to all ranks of this staff.Dr.Ruder is arrogant and unprofessional. I once heard him direct the front office to fill his schedule or else he would consider not letting them go home. Its apparent he is all about money. This office boasts about the continuing education of their employees which sounds great until you realize they do this only for the tax write off.*this office does NOT support the military and their families, if you are military go elsewhere****There are far more professional, friendly, genuine dental offices in the Olympia area. I would encourage you to search them out. Im certain you will be better off ANYWHERE else.

The Small to Tall staff are amazing. While checking in with Amanda, I asked if my very apprehensive 3 year old son could have a little extra warm up time in the room before his cleaning. She more than accommodated us! I explained my sons nervousness and shyness toward people and needless to say all the staff wonderfully went above and beyond to make our visit a positive and successful one. Felicia patiently explained and helped our son feel very comfortable and well informed before his cleaning. We also appreciate the calm and positive demeanor of all the doctors and especially Dr. Rowley on this visit. I have two small children. My daughter when she was younger fell off a chair and got her foramen stuck between her teeth. And it fell on a Sunday. One of the doctors responded immediately to the emergency call from our doctors. He immediately left his family and met us at the clinic less than 25 minutes later. Over the years I have gotten to know many of the staff members. We absolutely love Felicia and Jessica. These two women have the most wonderful personality and are extremely competent. My kids love going there as we are a unique family to say the least and there is no judging there. These girls will interact with both children And I must say its the only dentist I will take my children to. When you have an emergency and it is your childrens future dental work at risk… You will stop at nothing to get the best care for your children. They offer the nitrous for the kids. I cannot say enough about Felicia and Jessica. Phenomenal job ladies. You have lifelong patients here. Well at least till the kids are 18.The dentists are great as well. Some of them know every single princesses name from Disney. The dentists are wonderful with children. If your child is an easy with dentists I suggest you make an attempt and at least try this place. They are exceptionally clean and do a wonderful job with the other staff in washing down all surfaces after you leave the dental chair. The front staff is extremely helpful as well and has been extremely accommodating for us . We love the staff and Dr. Ruder, Rowley, and Shavron are great. But our last visit with the new dentist Dr. Maureen Craig was awful. My son, who is 6 was screaming and nervous about getting his cavities fixed. I went to hold his hand and said, “you’re going great” I was told by Dr. Craig not to talk to my child. That I must be a silent observer. This policy is ridiculous. Parents should have a right to comfort their kids. She was so condescending and rude. Dr. Craig also said she would take away the movie he was watching if he didn’t listen during the procedure. This type of communication with pediatric patients should not be acceptable.

We first met a few of the dentists and hygienists at the Hands on Childrens Museum when they were doing free exams to celebrate dental month in Febrary. My kids (age 11 months and 25 months) received a mini exam from Dr. Ruder. My husband and I were so impressed that we scheduled an appointment with them (even though we live in Tacoma).Pros:-my daughter was addicted to the pacifier, and I was certain that she would go to college with one in her mouth. We were told to gradually snip the tip and within 2 weeks both kids were pacifier free!-super clean. Everything about the building makes you feel like you are in a sterile place.-great little play area in the waiting room. Both of my little ones enjoyed climbing the stairs to the tree house.-the staff was helpful and friendly to both my kids and us.-it truly is a place where kids are the focus. Dr. Ruder, especially, has such a wonderful demeanor with the little ones and immediately makes them comfortable. My daughter opened her mouth with just a little coaxing for him to count her teeth using Disney princess names for each tooth.-they go above and beyond....from a pre-appointment phone call from one of the dentists to post appointment letters from the hygienist, Amanda and also one from Dr. Ruder himself (both, of course, were hand written).Cons-my husband was upset that he couldnt go to Dr. Ruder. :)This has been our only pediatric dental experience, but I cannot imagine it getting any better than what Small to Tall has to offer.

Beautiful new facility, good dentists, and hit or miss for below par reception people who do not know how to thoroughly give information on the phone. Waste of time and gas to get information I could have gotten over the phone. Sadly they do not take State insurance unless your child is under six and has a referral which is actually pretty piss poor because the kids 6-18 years old with state insurance are basically out of luck chuck and will have to settle for more than likely sub par pediatric services. (By the way, most high quality pediatric dental clinics will not take Apple/Molina State insurance - unless with a referral and also with an age discrepancy).Weve been going to Small to tall for 2 years since I have other than state insurance for our child. They were the second office I called in an emergency dental incident and were able to accommodate my daughters accident immediately. I like my daughters dentist (Ruder). He also mails out personal hand written birthday card greetings to your kid. Your child however, will spend more time with dental assistants (not dental hygienist) that will do their teeth cleaning. Thats also a hit or miss if the dental assistant has a warm reception and kid friendly. Some folks have not so great days, so its understandable and no biggie if the DA isnt having the best of days so long as he/she does their job well and professionally. Small to tall DAs have been very professional (though not always warm/kid friendly).Im a little perturb with the State insurance referral thing since I recommended Small to Tall to a close associate who had a referral with Apple/Molina insurance since I had call to Small to Tall beforehand and said they would take the referral. The receptionist on the phone should have included the statute of limitation on the age range for kids with referral.Work on getting your receptionist more knowledgeable Small to Tall, and youll definitely get the 5 star rating -- my 5 star rating for you guys fell to a 4 today. Its actually a 4+ since Dr. Ruder is cool. Youll want him for your dentist if you go there. Im confident his associates are just as good since my kid was also seen by Dr Rowley one time when Ruder wasnt available. It would also be very nice if you increased your referral age to a couple more years or just flat out 10 years old. There are lots of under privilege kids (through know fault of their own) who dont get an opportunity to experience a quality dental clinic-- end of my political rant.
