I am very disappointed with the care we received last night in the emergency room. To start, the receptionist tried telling me I wouldn’t be able to go back into the room with my boyfriend (which ended up being false). She also was noticeably gossiping in her office which really doesn’t set the best impression. We waited in the waiting room for 4 hours with only two other people in the waiting room, as I overheard that all the beds were filled and people were refusing to leave. Why aren’t we calling the police to escort them out? When we finally made it back to the ER, we were put on a bed in the middle of the hallway. Our nurse was extremely rude and tried covid testing my boyfriend who was tested a half hour ago. Credibly, our doctor provided excellent care and should be seen as a role model to the rest of the staff. He ordered a specific medication to be given to my boyfriend, and the nurse gave him the wrong one. As I questioned her she sarcastically replied back and walked away while I was in the middle of speaking to her. This happened multiple times throughout the night. The doctor told me that what she did was not part of the plan which changed a lot for my boyfriend. He ended up feeling better, thankfully, but the treatment by the staff (aside from the dr) and especially the nurse is extremely unprofessional, lacks vital communication, and needs immediate improvement.
I was in the hospital for five days and I got excellent care. The doctors, nurses and everyone I was in contact with were very friendly. They were short staffed but I got excellent care. Plus the food was good. I have no complaints.
My experience that my daughter was admitted and no visitation allowed she has repeatedly called saying thT she has been buzzing g for a nurse for 3 hours because her iv is beeping and empty. She requested ber pain meds and they have been getting g them for the last 3 hours also. They did not bring g her dinner and 3 persons ha e said theyd check on it with no further follow up. I wl never recommend this hospital and hear others saying the same.
The nurses were very nice, way better than Bradford. There were some lacking of communication. I was comforted and always had a laugh. I do recommend this hospital. But you just gotta remember you are not the only patient there. There will always be someone who has it worse than what you’ll ever have.
Olean General Hospital Review: If you enjoy not being fed, requesting help for hours and getting no response at all this establishment is for you. The communication will lead to increased anxiety as we will notify you that you require procedures that you actually aren’t even scheduled for nor need. We will share with you how understaffed we are but yet are still accepting patients knowing we can’t adequately care for them, because comfort and care isn’t something we believe in.
Horrendous! I was 💯 percent bedridden from a bad fall causing 3 ankle breaks. Wait time for meds and bedpan care. Nauseous and vomiting. Waiting times could be fro an hour to 2 hours after ringing call button multiple times. Nurses that show up for work doing their best but way too many patients per nurse and no nurses aids. I sat in my own bowel movement s with filthy hands for over an hour. Had one sponge bath in 8 day stay.pretty sad state of affairs
Brought in by ambulance spent four days on third floor general bloodwork with no answers as to what happened or future tests more of a band-aid outfit rather than finding the real cause and cure
Rude staff. Terrible service. My boyfriend with a low heart beat and skipping beats was left in a bed for over 2 hours and no one had seen him. He asked for water, no water. He’s been asking for over an hour to get the needle out of his arm that they left after taking his blood! He has been asking to leave so he can go somewhere better and it’s about impossible. Staff rude to both of us.
Absolute horrid. I had to clean my own father up after he was sick. Bell rang for a long time. The poor cna was so swamped and the nurses had a tremendous caseload. 45 minutes for pain meds. Bowel obstruction, nope gall bladder, nope bowel obstruction, nope gall bladder. Do they know what they are doing. Slept in ER all night. No nurses or beds on the floor. Left after an hour and a half. Still no doctor. Shame on OGH.
Very friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable. Testing always done on schedule and accurately. Dealing with a terminal case in the family several years ago they were extremely sensitive and understanding.
Been too the er 4-5x for the same problem. Still in pain $500 later in co pays with 4grand billed too my credit. Hospital and the drs are a joke. Literally guessing my problems saying come back later today if it doesn’t get better, meanwhile still in pain 10 days later with the issue getting worse. No tests were done just act knowledge my pain and send me off so I can come back knowing my pain level. I’ve gone too this place 25 years and the service makes me wonder if they are actually drs!!!? Worse then elementary school
First this is a review of the hospital management which falls on the nurses. Truly feel the nursing staff did the best they could with patient load. The management of this hospital should all be fired. As a patient could not get anyone to respond to my call bell for help. Finally I unplugged IV pole from wall, so I could get to restroom. The IV would ding when fluids were out or an issue, no one came to check for hours!!Bedding wasnt changed until I complained. Bathroom was a disgrace, I could not believe a hospital would be allowed to be in this condition. Yes I have pictures, which I plan on sending to the powers that be over hospitals. If a restaurant was like this absolutely dirty, they would be closed down. Now test results. Who ever reads the Catscans should be fired on the spot. Obviously they dont have a clue to what they are reading. Gallbladder seen, all in normal ranges; Appendix also seen and also in normal ranges. Well I had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago & Appendix 52 years ago!! So someone tell what was this Doctor looking at? Said no other scan to compare to, yes there was. Honestly my insurance will be charges, and in turn I should bill OGH for caring for myself!Folks if you need emergency care with the slightest chance of being admitted....drive yourself (some one else be the driver) and get away from Olean General. Go to Wellsville, Rochester, Buffalo, could be saving yourself a visit in hell.So sad to think that this area of New York State cant have better hospital care. Again this all goes back on management. Can hire travel Doctors & nurses with no vested interest in the community. Yet cant pay a fair - well earned wage to local nurses, & other health professionals.SHAME ON YOU OGH!!
The staff was nice but incredibly slow. When I went, there was no one else in the ER and it still took over three hours to see me and another hour to run a UTI test. (That test normally takes 10 minutes.) But, on top of that, they misdiagnosed me which resulted in me being on wrong antibiotics and causing more damage. The doctor was also condensing towards me when I told him about what I thought I had. He did not believe me and had a poor bedside manner (and I was correct about what I had).
Er,is very poor,u have to wait 12 -14 hrs to get upstairs in a room. They dont give u a bell to ring if u need one in er,I had ask for one.some of them nurses needs manners respect patients.i had to wait over her 1/2 for them to take me to the bathroom. When,I got in my room,I never got clean sheets for 21/2days I was there.they never gave us wash clothes,or towel to wash.never changed our gowns. Very poorly ran, some of the Drs was rude.wouldnt go there ,but, there only ones here.they over work the nurses and then they get tired and cranky. Very bad ran, they need to change it. They get alot other towns beside us. No,need for this
My visit went fine and didnt have to wait too long but Im not sure why the radiology registration clerks werent wearing masks. Also it seems my xray tech was a student so she should have been identified as one and a supervising tech should have been there.
This place is horrible they aided in the death of my dad due to lack of care. Nurses are having to care for 10 or more patients with no aides wrong information in his chart they all lie to cover for each other. I would not take my wounded dog there for treatment.
I have had MULTIPLE visit and hospital stays in the past 10 years at OGH. Almost all visits Ive considered my care excellent. People go to the ER with high expectations that their emergency will be recognized immediately as such, but they dont realize that beds in the back may be full. The waiting area doesnt look busy, so they hope to be seen soon. They dont understand that its not a first-come-first-served ER...no ER is!!! Injuries are given priority over illnesses. Heart issues are given priority over sore throats. THATS LIFE. The staff members at OGH have almost ALWAYS been excellent...doctors and nurses are willing to give as much information as you request. Ive always come away having learned something I didnt know before entering. As Ive read through all the reviews Ive remembered something I was once taught by my mother (I was in my 40s when she said this to me.) I told her after moving to western NY that I wondered why people in the south thought Yankees were so rude...everyone Id met in western NY was EXTREMELY NICE AND FRIENDLY. She said, Thats because YOURE extremely nice and friendly. Folks...if youre not getting excellent service at OGH, its usually because YOU are not being an excellent patient. Being a patient requires patience. Expecting doctors to HURRY is expecting mistakes to be made. When you have a legitimate complaint, COMPLAIN. Notify someone who can do something. But do it respectfully. I will always go to OGH...because Ive always received excellent care and I expect when something goes wrong that its a glitch...no one working there is hoping to make you miserable or let you die!
Dealing with a lot of these doctors in this hospital has been hell for me and a nightmare they dont seem to really care about you and no matter how you feel what they say goes Im a Black female with sickle cell and I get treated horrible by most of the doctors only a handfull of them really care and showed up as that type of doctor that cares about you and you pain I really dont recommend Ogh to anyone
This horrible place just discharged my son with no viable plan for his safety. I dont even know what to say. The level of care is despicable.
Mcdonalds will give you better care and you get a toy with the happy meal!In all seriousness this place is understaffed (look at the news) and the patients are the ones that have to pay for it. Try Wellsville!
The worst! Stay away from the ER unless you want to wait for hours… Ridiculous.
My poor mother woke up in the middle of her knee replacement surgery, feeling everything they were doing to her, she screamed my knee! My knee! DO NOT EVER TRUST THIS HOSPITAL. There is a reason they have such bad reviews!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR TREATMENT!! this hospital is a joke, a disgrace. Unless you want to be traumatized then have at it. These people get paid how much?? YOU HAD ONE JOB. MAKE MY MOTHER NUMB. Absolutely disgusting!!!!
If I could give it less than 1 star I would ...our daughter broke a bone in her face and sat in the ER waiting room for 5.5 hours in horrific pain before seeing a Doctor...staff was rude and unfriendly ...we would have been better off with a witch doctor . Horrible , rotten , should be closed down ...worthless.
I went in for a covid test and ended up getting a colonoscopy…
This hospital is awful, they can never get it right telling you whats wrong, they never answer the phone cnas never give the patients bed baths never brush the patients teeth, and when u call to check on ur loved one if they do finally answer the phone.tjey say say her nurse is busy they would call and never do the icu is really bad the doctor jeramey barnett is the rudest ive ever dealt with
I have been to the ER several times,And told by nurses and even some doctors dont bother going back there because theyre not going to do anything to help me, I suffer from end-stage cirrhosis of the
I usually wait a while to write a review so the good and the bad can settle in. I have been seeing Dr Bella for over two years now. Her office staff is very professional and caring. Dr Bella is exceptionally professional, helpful and caring.I can see where people can get frustrated. With professionalism you get some direct and poignant questions that could seem uncaring. The staff is not that way just doing their job to help you the best they can.
I feel like a herd of cattle. No privacy at all. Triage nurse so rude!!!
I wanted to say being a retired Nurse, not found of Hospitals & etc... I was there a few days ago and 2 ED Drs were amazing and Diagnosed me! Where other Hospitals misdiagnosed me; go figure!Due to their do diligence, the Drs gave ma a Diagnosis before being discharged and made sure my Blood Pressure was in the Norm Range!Dr Coolidge Thank You & the ED Nurses too!!
Never see the doctor, it’s always a nurse or someone else. No one seems to have the time to fully explain what the problem is and before u no it your out the door
I am totally appalled with OMGs Behavioral Units assessment in the ER. On Wednesday our son was taken there by the State Troopers because he tried to kill us! They had to sedate him, when he woke up he refused to talk to a counselor and they released him! They were told he has mental issues!Amity State Troopers are the best! Long story short, they went the extra mile and he is in Warsaw Hospitals Behavioral Unit.
In my personal experience I don’t have too much to complain about, but recently my MIL was admitted here, within 5 day’s of being here her phone was stolen by an employee and the employee at OGH stole money off the credit card saved on the phone. Was taken right after my MIL fell asleep after her SECOND surgery,., if you’re going to be admitted here, make sure you have a lock on your phone because the staff won’t make it a priority to find who did it.
Deplorable hospital! My mother is in here again .They can never figure out what is wrong. solely reactive. AND when I call the main line- NO ONE PICKS UP! What kind of hospital is this!!!!!!!! TERRIBLE. DO NOT GO HERE. NO option for no starts. So had to pick one!
Went in with dislocated shoulder they tried releasing me before the Dr even came back to go over my results the Dr came in and told me nothing was dislocated or broke . I explained to him I couldnt move my arm, after he moved my arm and saw the pain i was in they had to sedate me to mess with my arm .. After I was sedated and he tugged on my arm and pop back into place . Was discharged with no instructions on follow up care and I also asked the Dr if he ever dealt with a dislocated shoulder before his answer was no... The hospital was an impressive case of complete chaos where know one knew Wtf was going on that I will give a 5 star rating . I feel like if you want to die this is the best place for that
Horrible service, dirty and rude staff.
My boyfriend and I have been here since 11pm it is now 2am and they have called everyone else in that just got here rather then someone that is having severe mouth pains. Pathetic, this hospital needs a better system or shut this place down. Never coming back to this hospital again.
Dr. Rachel Raphael is an amazing surgeon. The five star rating is specifically for her. I needed surgery on my throat and was very concerned about the scar. The woman is like a magician. Considering the scope of the surgery, I cant believe the scar is so small. She was also very kind and concerned, checking in on me multiple times while I was in the hospital. The nurses were all extremely compassionate and deserve a five star rating as well. I did feel the hospital might have been a little understaffed at times when things got busy, but they also had some emergencies and codes to deal with. I didnt feel neglected or ignored during my stay.
Not nice people work there and do not like help you
Worst. Hospital. Ever!!!! I don’t even know how this place is still running!!!!
Olean General Hospital is the worst hospital I’ve ever been to I don’t recommend it to anybody if you want to be seen within a suitable time or if you have a life threatening emergency.
This hospital is trash.
My grand-daughter and I were very disgusted by one young blonde nurses tight see-through pants!! She was on the 3rd floor the cardiac unit. If they didnt have a heart attack when they came in they did while they were there! My grand-daughter was the first to say something! Need better attire
After a horrible injury I was taken to Olean General. I have to say that nearly every person I came in contact with exceeded my expectations on every level. From the doctors and nurses to the radiology techs and even the people who attended to my room and brought me my meals were good to me every day in every way during my stay. They really made me feel good at a very bad time. Thank you Olean General!
Poor service. People at main desks are usually nice and friendly but poor over all service. I know a few personally who have been hurt pretty bad due to here and one that had thrown up blood while having lung cancer that they sent home and he died on his way to ecmc. Giant lack of common sense.
If one has the choice of staying at Olean General or choosing a different hospital save yourself and go to another hospital. The staff never responds and we could hear other patients using their call button for hours without a response. If one wants to sleep in urine and not have attention after surgery then pick Olean.
Go by ambulance, or youll be in the waiting room for a minimum of 3 hrs. Even with chest pain, in fear of death, youll still wait. untill theyre good n ready. Or done with lunch. Or done with shift change. Excellent doctors, but the intake receptionists, and general intake staffing, are horrible. You get farther making your own calls, to specailists. Again, go there by ambulance, or just forget it. Its a waste of time, and youll be in pain for HOURS AND HOURS. Buffalo General, or ECMC is a much better choice.
They viewed my loved one as an end of life patient and did nothing to help him. He laid in bed in pain and starvation until we said we were leaving, then tried to push for him to go to rehab facility. Shameful.
I woke up with difficulty breathing at 430 am. I have been sick for weeks. My husband drive me to the hospital, and with 10 minutes I was getting a chest x-ray, after that I was brought straight to triage. After that they put me in a bed. After 5 minutes my doctor was back, had already looked at my films. He listen to my chest and made a plan of treatment. The nurse I had was so nice, great bedside manner. My doctor came back after about 20 mins to check on me personally and then after about an hour and half they did great work and discharged me. 6 stars for my experience today!!(:
They wouldn’t give me answers
My 79 year old Mother was admitted to OGH, via ambulance, with extreme back pain and afraid she was having a heart attack. After doing blood work, a CT and several EKGs, all cardiac issues were ruled out. Then they did nothing for her but feed her opiates. I asked several times if they had considered doing an x-ray of her back to see if she had osteoporotic fractures, since she has had them before and has osteoporosis, but they never did. Instead they kept her for 6 days then sent her on her way with Oxy and Fentanyl scripts. Shame on the attending Dr! And why are they writing scripts like that for 79 year olds without a diagnosis? I also noticed that she never had a roommate and the room across the hall was empty for several days. Are they needing money due to terrible Drs and no patients? Is that why they kept my Mother without a diagnosis? Olean deserves better.
My mother was recently hospitalized and our experience was wonderful. Everyone was kind and helpful. Yea, we wish they would have responded to her bell faster but she was not the only patient that holiday weekend so we have to be reasonable. Our questions were answered promptly and clearly and the no one was ever in a hurry to get away. We got a lot more information and concern from the Hospitalist than her primary care physician.
I took a terrible fall down stairs on September 22, 2018 & was taken by ambulance to this hospital. It was the worst ER experience I’ve ever had. I’m a 62 year old woman & I’ve had my share of ER visits. I was in excruciating pain & could hardly take a breath without horrible pain. They did some tests, later only to find out they were 4 CT scans of my head & other parts of my upper body. The wait was very long but finally someone came in & told me “nothings broken but you’ll be very sore for awhile.” He never identified himself & that’s all he said to me & then left. A nurse came in to release me & gave me a “glorified aspirin” for pain. I asked her about something for the pain to take home & she said that was all she was allowed to offer me. She did give me a summary sheet of my visit. When I got home I realized I didn’t even see a Dr!! I was seen by a PA!!! I would have never guessed a hospital ER would be staffed by PAs!!! I was told to contact my PCP so the next day I did just that. I don’t live in the southern tier, I live right outside the Buffalo area. My Dr told me to go to a hospital up here to be rechecked so I did. The 2nd hospital sent for the 4 CT scans Olean had done. After waiting a short time someone came in & told me that I had a pretty bad concussion & a couple broken ribs!! I was shocked!!! It’s been 6 weeks now, I’m healing but very slowly & no thanks to Olean Hospital. I will never go back there again!!!
Incompetent. Staff has extremely poor communication skills.
ERs can be busy some times, give the staff a break,I went there about 3 weeks ago and went right in with bronchitis,,,they were very professional,,,,I took my wife tonight and had to wait maybe 30 mins, and went right in,very professional, and explained everything right to a T very impressed
Zero communication between staff, no explanations to any questions that are asked ..only bright spot is the nursing staff is great
Olean general is a joke. The people that run the ER department should go to a real hospital and see how its done. The only good thing I can say about the place is the door greater is great
Theyll kill your loved ones before helping them. I wouldnt recommend this hospital or ER to anyone. Absolutely awful, the doctors and staff are the worst of its kind.
VERY RUDE NURSES. SNARKY IN THE ER. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL THEY ARE ALL VERY NASTY AND UN PROFESSIONAL
Came in feeling horrible Dr. Prumbs. Did nothing treated my illness not very serious. Did absolutely nothing for me. Dehydrated gave me a glass of water. Not ever anything for my sever throat ache. Loved charging me but not one thing was given to me. Not even a lozenger. Thanks for letting me me leave feeling worse.
My mom received very poor care after going to the ER in Olean. The ER its self wasnt to bad other than not getting a severe diabetic anything to eat or testing her blood sugar. After being in the ER for hours she was taken to her room (a room that was ready at 6 but she didnt get taken up till 10). No intake was done, no food given, no meds given, no basic care given & 4 nurses sat out at the nurses station playing on their cell phones. Finally at 11 an aid was able to get half an egg salad sandwich & a cup of apple sauce. This aid so far has been the one bright spot in this whole mess. My brother was with my mom the entire time trying desperately to communicate moms medical needs but no one would listen. He went home only to return first thing Saturday morning with her meds & gave her what she needed because no intake had been done & the nurses had no idea what she needed. It was just one thing after another as he had to refuse some of the meds that they did try to give her because they were wrong. My brother was treated poorly for trying get the help my mom needed. It wasnt until Sunday that they finally started to look at her history & realized everything my brother had been trying to tell them was right. I wish I could give a negative star rating but sadly its not an option.
Horrible service, kept me longer then nessecary for policy reasons. Found out they switched my chart with someone elses and made me pay for it. Refuse to let me leave on my own. DO NOT GO TO OLEAN GENERAL FOR ANYYY REASON
Stayed in the E.R. for gastroenteritis and while repeatedly throwing up bile I had to keep hearing its not that bad. Got kicked out at 4:30 am with no ride home as a college student. Terrible bedside manner and terrible treatment of all surrounding patients from what I gathered.
Went to put in my views, not even under my name. Its my daughters name. Day and evening nurses were polite. Night nurses were a nightmare. Only slept when my pain meds knocked me out. The rest of the night it sounded like they were having a party. Loud talk and laughter, no empathy for those who were in pain or trying to sleep. Asked for pain meds, waited a half an hour. The young lady doing the menus was very sweet but didnt get what I asked for. The food I tasted was horrible. Was there 4 days, the first day someone brought in a wash cloth and towel. And there it sat on the windowsill. I couldnt move much less get out of bed to wash. No soap or toothbrush anymore? I hadnt planned on staying but an oops occurred during my surgery decided for me. What little I could wash below, the washcloth had old blood on it. Well after 4 days what would I expect. I was a CNA for fourteen years so I know what should be done for proper care. If my nurses had ever seen this I would have been fired. I had 2 very very good nurses, Angela, and Jennifer. They knew what to do and how to do it. Those two made my stay bearable.
My friend had a crippling migraine (threw up three times and passed out due to said migraine) and had to wait 8 hours after her triage to be seen. There were several people who went ahead of us who were fine. Every time we asked how long it would be they said we should be next. When we first asked they said within the hour... That was at 5 and we got a room at 12. Terrible service and also the hospital is disgusting.
If you might have symptoms that need to have MRI done DONT GO TO OLEAN HOSPITAL ON THE WEEKEND! Took my father in because of symptoms for a stroke Friday night took some tests but were told they do not do MRI ON THE WEEKEND. Held him there overnight and then released him saying he just had a UTI. We immediately took him to Buff general were they did an MRI to find out he indeed had a stroke! THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE A HOSPITAL FOR EMERGENCIES HOW CAN YOU NOT DO A TEST THAT IS SO CRITICAL FOR DIAGNOSIS FOR SOMETHING SO SERIOUS! PEOPLE BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!!
Pre-surgery waiting area: Nurses were professional, attentive and had me laughing. They explained each procedure, what would happen and why they were doing it. Equipment was modern, area was clean and quiet.Post-surgery recovery area: A very nice welcome back to the world greeting from nurse and aide. Nurse explained how long Id be there, what the next steps were and fussed over me as to what they could do for me.A very pleasant experience, under the circumstance, made that way because of their great professional nurses and doctors.I would not hesitate recommending Olean General to my friends and family.Great job done by allChuck Pattinian
Truly horrifying methods of practice. A disgrace to the healthcare industry.
Took my father by ambulance. .treated him like gold ..I couldnt be more happier with a hospital. .Nurses were just AMAZING. Thank Olean Hospital.
If I could give zero stars for our experience I would. We came to the ER with a common childhood injury. A 3 year old with a lip laceration. This laceration was located on the upper border of the lip onto the face. During the time we were at the ER my child saw 3 providers: a nurse practitioner, a nurse, and a physician. The original plan (NP) was stitching as the border of the lip was involved. They stressed that my child would be disfigured if it wasn’t aligned properly. The physician came in and chose to glue. He set up a station with Dermabond, gauze, and saline to flush/irrigate the wound. They swaddled my 3 year old, wiped her lip with gauze, and sloppily applied glue to her face. WITHOUT CLEANING HER WOUND. Due to the negligent care, her Dermabond glue which is supposed to stay on for approximately 2 weeks fell off less than 4 days later. Upon examining her wound I can see that it was never actually closed in the first place. They just placed a giant layer of glue on top of the wound, without closing it. Because of this horrible level of care my 3 year old will have a signifigant scar for the rest of her life. Complaints have been filed with Olean General Hospital & Kaleida Health.
I had a throat surgery here and could not have been more pleased with the care the doctors and nurses provided to me. It was well worth the hour drive from Jamestown.
Poor service and plenty mistakes, too many to detail here. Ill crawl on my hand and knees to Buffalo before I let these people touch me again.
Came to ER on Sunday.....been in such great care since. God bless you all!
Olean hospital has ex farm hands drawing blood there. olean is the roach motel, you check in but you dont check out.
Honestly, Go to Cuba. Its a little farther but offers way better service.
I was in the ER on September 3, 2018 about 8 pm to 11pm. I went in with chest pressure, pain and left arm pain and pain in the middle of my shoulder blades. I told the triage nurse that I had been having an issue with my muscles and my Drs were aware of that but I was scared it could be a cardiac issue or stroke issue. My blood pressure was pretty high when she took it and at home as well. She sent me back to the waiting room. After about an hour and a half or so I started to get jaw, neck, left arm and both legs numbess. I was very scared as I worked in Cardiopulmonary at OGH for 9 years and in the medical field about 20 years so I know what can happen. I told the triage nurse I was very scared. She just said I know I am so sorry and just took the next person in. After 2 hrs and 45 min of waiting in severe pain my husband went to ask how much longer. The receptionist said she could not say.????? I understand they were busy. But, when a patient goes into an ER with these symptoms and waits to at least get an EKG to rule out a cardiac issue, theres something wrong with that!!!!We left and drove to Charles Cole Hospital an hour away. They took me right into the ER and immediately did a cardiac work up. In less time I was at OGH, I had an entire cardiac work up and got at least some answers. I am a human being and should have been treated as such!!! I am just so thankful that a cardiac issue was ruled out. I was lucky it was not a stroke or heart attack because that could have ended so much worse. I dont like to leave these types of reviews but this was completely wrongand could have been a life or death situation!!!! If I could give zero stars I would have!!!
This is the best hospitable there are some grumpy people there but so much nicer than grumpy people!!! I have nothing bad to say at all
Terrible experience here. Try to go to the city hospitals if you can. Short staffed or whatever, just not a good experience for me and my family.
ER Drs often give wrong diagnosis. I went in with what turned out to be severe dehydration and a kidney stone. Wouldnt give any pain meds until one nurse that I happened to know that was evaluating people came to check on me, She told the Dr I wasnt a drug seeker something was wrong. I was finally was given a low pain drug, after Dx was given a stronger medAnother time I arrived by ambulance, was so week I couldnt move, several days post surgery. In the ambulance I was on oxygen. The Dr took me off it, let me lay in bed for 6 hours saying he didnt know what was wrong wanted to send me home. Minutes after shift change, a nurse was in doing simple tests to determine how I responded to different positions, before she even finished someone was there to take me to CT, minutes after I arrived she stuck her head in my room, said I had a blood clot and I was in ICU within 30 minutes. Turns out it was a very bad bilateral blood clot. She saved my life, the 1st Dr almost let me die.I was still very weak when they sent me home, I tried to stay. I fell steps after getting out of the car.If its your family get them out of there and to Buffalo as quick as you can!!!!
I’ll start with the positive, most of the nurses are caring and wonderful. They give their best disputes the fact that they are in the middle between upset, frustrated patients and rude, arrogant, uncaring Hospitalist. In the ER you are likely to wait hours to get in to a room. To be seen by a Dr. who is in a hurry to move to next patient. I have gone into OGH numerous times for Diabetic issues and also what turned out to be heart issues. On numerous occasions I have been told my heart was fine I was having anxiety issues. Go home reduce stress and relax . Well I spent $$$ and went on vacation only to have a heart attack 2 days in. So much for 2 stress tests and the Drs. say my heart was fine. While you are in hospital you will likely suffer in uncontrolled pain. As Drs. are unwilling to treat with meds. that actually work. Hospital errors are frequent. I was nearly overdosed with insulin due to lab be lengthy in sends results. I had a roommate whom the wheel broke off her bed while nurses tried repositioning her. Hoyer was used to lift her wheel slid back in place and they left her in broken bed.Meals are often not accurate with your diet needs.Overall hospital is very poorly ran, with uncaring god complex Doctors. Making more money off trumps patient needs and good moral practice! Avoid if at all possible. From here on out I will do my best to go elsewhere!!
We sat in the waiting room of the ER for 2 hours with my girlfriends son puking and then got to a room that was gross. The floors we dirty there was a hair net and hair on the floor by the bed the room was covered in dust. While in the room wait for a nurse a doctor or someone to show up and no one showed up for 45 min. I finally went to ask if anyone was coming to check on us and the nurses at the desk had nothing to say. The doctor finally came in and looked at him then walked out and hasnt been back. Nurses just standing around talking. We finally just left do not bring your kids here dont not bring anyone here this is by far the worst hospital I have been to and Im really surprised they have not been shut down for health reasons
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER GO HERE. If you have the option of going to another hospital, GO THERE! The nurses, doctors and staff have ZERO bedside manner. They are rude and have no idea what the hell they are doing. We live in the area and my wife went to see her doctor about a lot of dizziness she was experiencing. The doctor discovered that she had a bleeding ulcer and her blood count was half of what it should have been. He sent her immediately to the hospital. A doctor from the hospital came in and said that he would have to perform scope operation to take a look at the ulcer. He then told the staff not to give my wife any food or drink for the next 24 hours. Mind you, she has lost HALF THE BLOOD IN HER BODY. So, AFTER 12 HOURS, another nurse comes in and tries to get an IV into my wife to perform a blood transfusion. Any idiot with half a brain or a modicum of medical training can figure out that without food or water for over 12 hours, you arent going to find a vein to get the needle into. They stabbed her over 13 times unsuccessfully and when my wife starts balling her eyes out, my mother and I finally managed to convince these idiots to give her food and water. At this point, another one of the idiot doctors came in and tries to tell me that they are just going to have to put a Port in her to get the blood in. I was in the Marine Corps and have received combat medical training as part of being an 0311 Rifleman, thus I knew of 2 other ways to get an IV in that these morons hadnt even tried yet. I looked at him and said what about a Pick line or going through a vein in her foot. He wouldnt even consider it, cause he was a pompous ass. But, thankfully after my wife had had something to eat and drink, they managed to get an IV in through her neck, and I didnt have to deck the doctor if he had tried to put a Port in my wife. My wife required 3 blood transfusions, have the scope performed and the ulcer repaired, and as such she was hospitalized for 3 days. I managed to convince these idiots to let me sleep in the unoccupied hospital bed next her so I could be with her constantly. On the second day, at around 3 am I couldnt sleep because of the flow of nurses who came in to check on my wife, and I decided to ask the one who just came in about what they were going to be doing with my wife that day. I kid you not, this was the answer I received Well, hospitals dont have itineraries. In another instance, my wifes aunt came in after she was complaining about dizziness and had collapsed in her kitchen. The doctors sent her home with Tylenol without conducting a single test. 9 months later she died in the same hospital, yeah it turns out she had brain cancer but by the time they actually ran tests on her it was too late. I have heard several other horror stories from other people who live in the area. This is the most unprofessional, undertrained, rude, horrendous hospital I have ever been in or have ever heard of. I repeat NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER GO HERE.
Caring doctors and patient care was good. Thank you!
They dont answer the phone
This hospital should be shut down. Nothing good about it.
Ive was in the waiting room for over 2 hours. They took 5 people back who arrived AFTER me. They said there more of an emergancy. How is a girl with a messed up knew more important than a pregnant woman bleeding?
If you care about yourself or a family member, DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT, go here.
Wasnt impressed with the switch change in the middle of delivery but LOVED the nurses that helped me after birth!
Poor experience and help.
The absolute worst hospital experience that I have ever gotten I have my 2 year old daughter here and they tried to take her blood and give her an IV they messed up twice and had to put the 3red one in her foot told me I was only going to be here for about 2 hours its 1 am Ive been here since 6PM still here Im never going back to this hospital again they leave you in a room with no answers on whats going on with my daughter I hope this place closes down its the absolute worst place ever
Not very thrilled with the outpatient waiting area. People are worried about their loved ones, and they are treated like cattle.
If I could give 0 I would. Longest wait time.
Great hospital regardless of what people say
Dr Klein office is awesome
I am a former employee I was lied too in my interview to begin with and for the amount of work that you do youre underpaid, management doesnt care about all they care about is making them selfs look good and number.Coworkers are very nice to work for.
This hospital is a joke! Mostly the emergency department. Id rather die than ever step foot back inside of this hospital.
Worst hospital Ive ever been to.
👍

My Dad was in the ICU for 2 weeks and we couldnt have been happier with the care he received.
Waited 5 hours for help ..none given could not breathe was talked to like a prisoner...given a dirty bed ..will die before I return to this hospital again .
