Our Mother passed away last Tuesday evening in the loving care of your facility, and with the compassionate hands of Shannon from Catholic Charities.First off, this transition for my Mom could not have gone any smoother, in my opinion, if it were not for the caring and compassionate hands that Shannon brought to Mom, and the rest of us. I am sure that none of us knew that this transition was coming as sudden as it did. Its my understanding that David was the gentleman who saw what was coming and called Shannon to assist Mom, and the family. God bless him! From the minute Shannon showed up she was hands-on. She explained, in detail, what her physical findings were and what was coming. Over the next couple of hours Shannon, and the rest of the staff on hand, made sure that Mother was comfortable and the family was well informed. This was the hardest thing Ive had to endure in my adult life. Sitting next to my Mother and holding her hand while she took her last breath was excruciating, yet peaceful. It was sad, but knowing that Jesus, and the rest of her family and friends who have passed before, was waiting on the other side to show her the way to our Fathers house, has made this transition easier for me (though I still struggle with missing my Mom.)My wife and I would like to express our thanks to all of the staff who have taken care of my Mom over this past year, and would like for them to know that we, and the rest of Moms family, deeply appreciate the love, compassion, respect, and care that you all had shown my Mom. ( with special thanks going to Margaret, Big Mack, Mary, Jeanetta, David and certainly not least, Shannon)

I havent seen my mom in 2 years, in person. I saw her last month, outside because YET ANOTHER person/worker was diagnosed with Covid 19. I originally was supposed to see her in July, but the night before going to Olathe; I was informed that I couldnt see my mom because a worker had Covid 19, and they were on Lockdown. In August, at least I was able to SEE her, in person, FINALLY, outside. Unfortunately I was HORRIFIED by the look of my mother! Her hair looked crusted on her scalp, as if it hadnt been washed in months! She had a major stroke since moving to Villa St Francis around January 2021, so she cant do it HERSELF! Her fingernails AND toenails were so long they were cutting into her palms, and she had cuts on over her arms. Yes, she bruises easily, due to her meds, but this was different. They were dark yellow, very long, chipped, etc. She would be HORRIFIED if ANYONE saw her that way; back at home, where I live, especially her coworkers of 25 years! Its a town where most people know everyone else. I still get asked by strangers, how my Mom is doing, at the grocery store, etc. It was EXTREMELY shocking for ME to SEE my mother that way!! Especially after taking care of my Dad and her for 16 years! Does it cost extra to get the simple things done; like washing her hair or trimming her nails? How would YOU like it if YOUR mother was treated (actually NOT treated), that way?! OR YOU were treated that way? She cant communicate very well, so how is she supposed to ask for help? Or just the simple necessities of living, and to have decent hygiene? I gave 2 stars, because at least I was FINALLY able to SEE her, in person, after 2 years! She has been through a lot during this Pandemic, BEFORE she moved to Villa St Francis, but at least the other places helped with her simple hygiene. She has ONLY been at Villa St Francis for about 9 months, and THIS IS how she is treated? I thought putting my Mom in an Assisted Living Home would be helpful for her, while I was away going to MY OWN doctors appointments; apparently not. I lost trust and faith in human compassion for others; when I saw her! I did not say anything while I was there, because I wanted to have a POSITIVE experience with my Mother, after not seeing her for 2 years. Her Birthday was a week away also, and I wanted to have a good visit. I wanted my Mom to be happy and cared for, like I cared for her. I know EVERY hospital is overwhelmed, understaffed due to the Pandemic, but those 3 things are just BASIC hygiene! I didnt expect anything above and beyond; while I deal with my own MULTIPLE illnesses since I was 14 years old and my new ones; just expected the basic care of a human being of ANY race and creed and I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!

They do not take covid seriously until it’s too late. Not sure why you wouldn’t test a resident for covid if they’ve been coughing for several days. Do not put your loved ones here. Absolutely unacceptable.

They claim on the website they accept people regardless of their financial need yet they denied my mom because if “financial reasons”! They shut us down and would not discuss any other options! They became hateful and uninterested!!Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, Villa St. Francis Catholic nursing home provides long term care, short term rehabilitation, and skilled memory care to those in need, regardless of their financial means.

Its not easy to be perfect all the time anywhere, ever. Villa St. Francis took very good care of my mother-in-law for 4 years while we were unable to provide her the care she required ourselves. The staff was attentive and my MIL felt comfortable and we felt comfortable with her in their care during the entire time she lived at Villa. We were there regularly (pre-COVID) and never had any concerns of the conditions or care. During COVID it was challenging not being able to visit, due to the many restrictions but the team did a good job with ensuring we could communicate with her daily as well as video chats. She passed away while in hospice and the nuns and hospice care were very kind and compassionate. We are not Catholic or religious and that didnt matter. We were able to spend her last days with her, even with the restrictions which meant a great deal to us and helped comfort and provide peace.

My mom was cared for at Villa St Francis recently. Most facilities that are for profit have an adequate amount of staff, but nonprofit Villa has the most staff of any place I have seen. And they are wonderful and caring people. Anything that was needed happened immediately. We will miss this place.Thank you all!

Both of my parents are/were residents at Villa St. Francis. (Mama passed August of 16.) I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff at Villa. They are more like an extended family. They continue to love and care for my father as if he was one of their own. This is not a profession as much as a calling, and its clear to me that the staff is called to their positions at Villa. The facility is clean, the meals are tasty, there are plenty of activities and even occasional field trips open to those who wish to attend. My family is not Catholic, yet we have been welcomed with open arms. Dad even attends daily mass. I would recommend Villa St. Francis to anyone.

Had my mom there 1 day. Within 30 min. they forgot her on the toilet and she fell. Transfered to Stratford commons where she died in peace. Its the bad staff at Villa and their dirty rooms.

My Mom was a resident at Villa St. Francis in the memory care hall for this past year. I found the staff to be very attentive to my Mom and her days were filled with activities and socialization which she needed. Sarah, Emmah and Susan will always hold a special place in my heart for their love and care of Mom.

I doubt the founders would be happy with this money grubbing company. They claim to want to help people even if they cant afford care. Yet they wont accept patients with insurance that will cover short term rehab, simply because they dont have Medicaid...They dont want you to go for short term rehab. They want to institutionalize you for the money. I dont see anything that would please God about the way they act.

The compassion and quality of care they show their residents exceeds all expectations. Plus their commitment to the community, regardless of faith, demonstrates why theyre so highly thought of in the KC area.

Horrible place. I wouldnt take my dead grandfather to this place. They dont care at all about the residents. Let them lay in wet beds, dont give much assistance. Dont follow diet restrictions. Horrible, horrible place. The dead wouldnt even be safe here.

This review is re: your help. You have some of the laziest people taking care of the elderly. You as a company do not give two cents about your residents. You keep hateful lazy help like Autumn and Autumn they are bullies and useless. Then Kelly the Wellness director that is a joke, she is another bully. Girls come in there to work and do a great job and these 3 just bully all the good help till they quit. Can you say harassment lawsuit.

Dear Villa St. Francis,...We, the Franciscan Mission Warehouse staff and volunteers, are truly grateful for your contributions of medical equipment and supplies for our Mission ministry. Without your assistance we would be unable to meet the medical and educational needs of those who live in the remote areas in foreign countries...~Sister Andrea Kanter, Mission Coordinator, Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist

The facilities are well maintained, comfortable, clean & well structured. And what’s more important is Villa St. Francis’ (VSF) staff.Nurses, therapy, social workers, maintenance, chapel, library, cafeteria, meals, activities, beauty salon, gift shop, reception, admission, billing, management & all VSF associates. Always with a smile and a sincere willingness & passion to serve & assist it’s residents. All this made Mom & Dad feel like at home from day one. They also helped with the application process, medicaid, and made it affordable.VSF must be doing something right to have such an engaged and motivated staff.Thank You VSF!

We had our mom placed here the first of July & it was the worse possible thing we could have done for her. They seem to be understaffed & our mom was just a number there, a feeder, as was put to us once, not a human being. She should have been geting the best possible care at $240 a day! Lack of communication was another downfall that we didnt like! I would never recommend this place for anyones parent.
