There is no psychiatry or behavioral health care at Kaiser. It was easier to access services when I was on Medicaid.I called about scheduling an intake appointment the last week of June... it is now the end of October and I have an appointment scheduled for December 30th. There is no individual therapy options, only online group therapy with months-long waiting lists.

My psychiatrist is alright, but seeing a therapist feels next to impossible. Like a majority of the folks I know with Kaiser, I never felt like the infrequent opportunities for therapy were sufficient for someone managing mental illness. I was often urged to supplement infrequent 1 on 1 therapy with group therapy that would greatly impact my work schedule, which is no bueno considering my work provides my insurance. I petitioned for a referral to a therapist who took Kaiser referrals but was denied under the premise that I was already assigned a Kaiser therapist, who I haven’t spoken to since October 16th 2020. I petitioned back in the beginning of the year and I still haven’t been reached out to by the therapist who’s supposedly seeing me 3 days short of a year later. I’m literally battling mental illness and it seems like a therapists obligation to clarify lulls in communication. Overall, I’m really excited to be switching insurance providers come the end of the year because Kaiser doesn’t meet my expectations when it comes to therapy. I did get a letter for an ESA from my psychiatrist though, that brought the rating up, I felt listened to at that time.

Impossible to get an appointment within 3 months of getting approved. Unbelievable. I even tried their external vendors and 0/11 were taking new patients.

I got the run around from the Richmond center for 5 months. I called them and got in within a month. It was wonderful to finally be heard

I dont know how they can say they are providing therapy. I agree with the person who said its worse than nothing because its so draining to try and try and try to set this in motion for yourself, and still basically have nothing.

Kaiser does everything it can to not serve patients suffering from mental illness. It’s the only department where when a doctor leaves instead of being assigned a new doctor to continue treatment, patients receive a form letter stating you may not need our services anymore but if you feel you have a complex case give us a call and ask for a new doctor. Kaiser demonstrates its priorities by building several new facilities while leaving psychiatric services in an inaccessible building with no parking. Healthcare providers should be treating all illnesses.

I tried to leave zero stars. The only in person offered is if you agree to a 5150. (Ok you see the trainee for 10min) I can see my Dr frequently and easily, mental health should be taken as seriously as high blood pressure.

This place has the worst service ever it took me like 3 weeks just to be able to make an appointment and then waited an additional 2 weeks for the appointment. I finally get there 30 minutes before my appointment and they tell me my appointment was canceled by clinician. I ask why, they dont know. They didnt even have the courtesy to call me ahead of time and let me know.Somebody should sue this place their neglect is out of control
