Was fitted for contacts and was given a script for both.Staff was soooo nice, accommodating, and the doc gave me some tries and wanted me to test them out before she finalizes my contact script.I will always come here moving forward.

Scam likely beware , staffing told me I had an appointment then I show up and she says no. then she quickly try to gets me out the door by handing me my glasses and making me sign quickly without a proper fitting, long story short the glasses werent new and did not match the item number my invoice says was purchased. there are two imperfections on the frame itself and the lens. Not good look for these folks, I hope they have the paper work to prove they are not just scamming people who know little about checking an itemized list and cost of goods.

The optometrist is good however one of her opticians told me the frames that she recommended for me could be molded on the temporal part to be straightened as they bowed out. I had another frame picked out but she recommended against because it didnt look as good on me. When I came back for the fitting once the script lenses were put in a different optician told me that the frames could not be molded and how they look is how they come. This was two years ago and I thought my review was posted then. Big thanks

Staff is super friendly. Ive been here before with my friend to pick up her frames and I was so impressed I had to come here for my own appointment and frames. Dr. Lam is super nice and professional. Lots of cool, independent brand frames to choose from. I ended picking up some Born In Brooklyn frames and I am very happy with my experience. They instantly get bonus points for their mascots, Frenchies Archie and Jack Jack.Havent seen their turnaround times yet, so 4 stars for now.

Definitely the best eye doctor Ive had. Ive never had to wait more than 5 minutes, and the staff are always really welcoming. The doctor herself does a great job of explaining what shes doing and making sure you agree with any decisions around changing prescriptions and understand why your eyes need what they do. PLUS, Ive been thrilled that you can communicate with them so easily via text -- this is a huge help for those of us who for whatever reason have trouble making appointments the phone! It makes everything so much easier

Quality brands, unique selection of frames. You can tell these guys went out of their way to hand pick their frames. Other optometry places only carry the generic frames. Good selection and service. Plus points for their cute french bulldog!

I have been going to Oakland Vision Center for years and have always had a great experience. Dr. Gill is fantastic, but the staff is also very friendly and helpful in all areas -- from helping you choose new glasses to making sure you understand your insurance and coverage to any other questions you might have, theyre attentive and knowledgeable. Dr. Gill is AMAZING! I really can’t recommend her enough. She’s super cool, very accommodating and the service you get feels personal. She knows who I am when I walk in and she always makes sure that the customer is satisfied.

We were really loyal to this office for years but my partner paid and ordered glasses from them last year and was unable to use them. He went back to the office twice to complain and it was only the third time, after he confirmed with another eye doctor that the pupillary distance was incorrect that they acknowledged the problem and agreed to fix it and mail it to us. We were happy with this fix (even if we had to pay $200 for an updated RX) until we received the lenses wrapped up in one piece of tissue, broken in the mail.

I love this place and Dr. Gill. I am fortunate to have VSP insurance, so it helps with the cost, and their staff pull up all the information for you. They were super accommodating to me when I mentioned I had a fragrance sensitivity. My very first time there, I ended up having to get progressives, and they were so well made I had almost zero adjustment period with them. Everyone is friendly and helpful there. My visit was thorough yet succinct. They have a great collection of frames (they can be spendy, and also super high quality). 10/10, would recommend!

I am continuously impressed with the level of service I get from everyone here. Ive had to come in a few times to get my glasses adjusted as Im new to wearing them and have been struggling with adapting to my prescription. They are always so thoughtful about the solutions they can help provide, and extremely patient with answering my questions and tolerating my intolerance (so far) for wearing these glasses. But, Im determined to find the right balance and I have complete faith that the entire team there will help me get it. I can tell they genuinely care about their craft and their patients. Just got an “appointment reminder” form them a year after the actual appointment happened. I think they scripts picked up on a correct date but wrong year. Also, a year ago when I went there, I ended up paying more than I expected and no one told me that the lenses training will cost as much as it did and won’t be covered by insurance.

The Oakland Vision Center was recommended by my wife who had recently used them. She said that they were great, friendly, thorough and professional. She was completely correct, she usually is. They were great! I needed new glasses and to diagnose a problem with my left eye. Not only did they find the issue they explained the process for the correction. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone! Thank you OVC!

I started going to OVC about 7 years ago. Though the staff has changed, and new optometrists have joined, the quality of eye care has never dissolved! It’s because of the one constant of course, Dr Gill. She’s personable, funny and smart. She seems to have carefully created the practice choosing staff who are also smart and personable and care about eye care.The office design lovely and the equipment is clean and looks modern. Great selection of eye glass frames too!Also love that the staff are almost all women (safe for one service staff employee) and mostly “of color”!The one con is the online appointment service is strange. Fill out a form and wait for an email of dates and time options from a service staff member??? Weird. But, I suspect there’s a behind the scenes reason for this :) I usually just call for an appointment anyway...

The doctor was caring, attentive and took the time to educate me about my eye condition. So far the treatment is going great! Glad I came to this place.

Dr. Gill is a superstar! Love her humor and lightheartedness and shes an excellent doctor, keeping her patients as her top priority. Everyone from the receptionist to the doctors treat you extremely well. I came in unannounced and they got me to see a doctor as soon as possible. They were able to treat my condition immediately before it got worse.

Ive been coming here for a few years. Love the drs and staff and the great selection of glasses. Especially great that you can text them about appointments or theyll text you about when your glasses are ready for pickup.

Very seldom does one run into a business practice that can be deemed excellent. Oakland Vision Center is an exception. The receptionist, office staff and opticians were all very courteous and displayed excellent professionalism. Dr. Gill demonstrated not only friendliness and graciousness, but a high degree of professional knowledge that I felt comfortable in knowing that I was receiving first rate service tailored to meet my needs. I would highly recommend this optometry office.

Oakland Vision is tremendous. On a recent visit for a routine eye exam, they were friendly, thorough, and extremely helpful. My doctor was warm and kind, and was extremely patient with all of my various questions regarding eye health and Lasik.Though this was my first visit to this office for an eye exam, the shop has, on a number of occasions, helped with adjustments and repairs to older frames, all without questions.It happens that OVCO is close to my office, but the level of service they offer makes it feel like it would be worth a journey, that, in addition to their immense selection of beautiful frames.

Dr. Tanya Gill is an extraordinary Eye Specialist. Not only is she great with normal eyes but she really knows all about problem eye diseases and the best treatments. Both my wife and I use her and in my 90 years of going to eye Doctors she is the very best. I have glaucoma and she has the best equipment to help her evaluate it.

So clean, nice, and trendy! This was the first eye exam I have ever had that was painless and fun. Everything was explained clearly and efficiently!

Oakland Vision Center is also conveniently located in Downtown Oakland right by the 19th Street BART station. You cant get much more convenient than that! It had been a while since Ive last gotten an eye exam. What I thought was 3 years had actually been 5(!!!!). So needless to say I was overdue. Oakland Vision was right around the corner from my home, so getting to it was extremely easy (its also conveniently located next to BART).I met with Dr.Gill and her two adorable Frenchies. She was really easy to talk to and really informative with catching me up to speed on all the advancement of vision technology since I had last been in. The exam was quick and painless and she sent me over to look at frames and discuss payment.I was really enamored with the frame selection here! José helped me out and did a great job assisting me with finding frames that sat well on my face. The only thing I didnt realize until after I picked the frames I wanted was that the cost was far out of my budget. I was a little embarrassed by my ambition of wanting to purchase something out of my means, so I had to shyly decline purchasing frames for now. José was really understanding and kind and mentioned that I can always come back later to pick some up, so I will be planning to return soon to find some that are within my budget (hopefully!), and hopefully can be assisted with some frames that are more affordable for me.Needless to say I will be coming back for future vision needs very shortly! I appreciate the work thats put into this business and am happy to support a local establishment.

I have been a patient of the Oakland Vision Center since I was 15!.. (now 32) Ive Always had a wonderful experience! I Love Dr. Gill and her entire staff!

I purchased glasses here 6 months ago $500+ and one nose piece broke. I made a appointment to get lens put in. I had to go online and purchase the exact same frames to put the same lens in. The lens were the expensive part. At my appointment I was told the frames were defective and that they could not put the lens in. I walked down the street a few blocks and dropped into a Site for Sore eyes and they put them in for $20 and it took about 30 minutes tops. I think Oakland Vision just wanted me to buy new frames (+ lens). When I called in I had a terrible time explaining I just needed lens put in without them outing in a order for $600+ for replacements.

I have been a patient at OVC for over 10 years. Ive seen doctors come and go. I was so pleased to learn that Dr. Gill was the nee owner. Since then she is my one stop shop for eye care. She treats my dry eyes, my glaucoma, and just overall eye wellness. The eyeglass selection is fantastic and her product for make-up removal and eye/facial cleanser is GREAT!!! The staff is phenomenal and informative. Keep up the great work....

Love Dr. Khela. She was very thorough with my yearly examination. Each time Ive visited, shes given me natural remedies for dry eye care as well pharmacutical remedies. Offices are located close to 19th Street Bart Station, AC Transportation bus stops and walkable if you live in the downtown Oakland area. Trendy frames without screaming the designers name.

NEVER use this office for your eye care needs! My daughter lives in Oakland and went to them for her annual exam and contact lense exam! She is still on my insurance , I have good Insurance I work for Dignity Health. When sitting down to pick out new glasses my daughter told the optician she only wanted frames that the insurance would pay for. Meaning she didn’t want $$$ frames. Mind you my daughter is very near sighted and cannot see at all without her glasses on plus the doctor had dialated her eyes so she couldn’t see. After all was said and done he optician tried to sell my daughter $500 frames ! She rang it up and said AFTER my insurance paid we were going to still owe $600!! Really? My daughter freaked out and said that can’t happen! After going round and round with this optician and me speaking to her she still tried to rip us off! I wonder how many people they do this to on a daily basis?? I was infuriated and told my daughter to take her prescription somewhere else to get her glasses! Unbelievable how shady they were! The doctor personally contacted my daughter and apologized for the opticians behavior! Unbelievable!! I would highly recommend staying away from this shady place! The optician must get a commission on sales!! Unbelievable!

Amazing staff! Nicole and Amanda are super fast to respond to any requests or questions. They accept SHIP/student health insurance from UC Berkeley and UCSF and work with you to try to get as much covered as possible. Really helpful for students on a budget. Dr. Gill was very professional and kind; took the time to really thoroughly evaluate me and give me clinical advice that was not biased or pushy/trying to sell me anything I didnt need!Location is conveniently in DT Oakland near Bart, sometimes parking is difficult to find but metered spots are sometimes available across the street from the office. Theres some free street parking thats just a few blocks away.

I initially visited Dr. Gill for an eye injury, which she treated with care, concern and expertise. Her treatment healed my eye perfectly, and I’ve used OVC for my entire family’s eye care since. After previously visiting several mediocre optometrists, it is clear Dr. Gill is at the top of the field. She cares about keeping your eyes healthy. Updated 5/22 - 3:44 PMReceived a phone call from Anisa (sp?) at OVC clarifying what the issue was (my glasses were shipped to my insurance companys lab rather than to the one OVC typically uses). VSP said theyll either ship my glasses to OVC tomorrow or Wednesday. *fingers AND toes crossed* Really appreciate OVCs follow-up! Staying tuned...(Will definitely update once I finally get a hold of the glasses I ordered about a month ago)I went in for a midday appointment on Thursday, April 27th and was told my frames would take two weeks - sweet!On Tuesday, May 9th I get the following text message:Your Glasses / Contact lens have been delayed. Once they have arrived and and passed QA, we will send you another text for pick-up. Thank you!I get that things happen, but I responded with a question about when the new ETA might be. Half an hour later this message pops up:Your Glasses / Contact Lens have been delayed. The ETA is 5/22 Once they have arrived and and passed QA, we will send you another txt for pick-up. Thank you!The following Tuesday, May 16th I get yet another one of these messages:Your Glasses / Contact lens have been delayed. Once they have arrived and and passed QA, we will send you another text for pick-up. Thank you!Wondering whether this was just a general reminder of the delay, or a new message that might mean Id have to wait past May 22nd, I asked for clarification.To which I received the following response:Again, I know that things happen, especially since OVC doesnt make lenses in-house, but Id really appreciate knowing a new ETA and/or what is causing the hold-up. *crosses fingers*

Good day; I have been a customer of Oakland vision center since the late 80s when it was run by doctor grandona; he was a superb eye doctor and very caring and friendly. since that first visit i was taken by the proffesionalism of the staff.My eyes are very important to me and though doctor grandona retired later on, doctor gill came onboard and the quality of atrention to the customers never dimished but was enhanced with time. doctor Gill is a superb physician with great sense of medical care for customers.i will continue to go there for as long as i can cnmute between Reno and Oakland. i used to live in san francisco, then, things in life took me to nevada but i never wanted to give up going to OVC for my eyes care, is a win-win for everybody and anybody!!!

Each and very person in the office are friendly and professional. Ive been coming to OVC since 2000 and absolutly love it!!! The girls in the office rock!! Ive or Im trying contacts for the first time, they are more than patient with me and my reflective eyes that wont say open long enough to put the darn things in!!! super sense of humor and more than patient.
