I used Hertz, they were pretty good about returning the car. Didnt have but 1 person working though, had to wait to be seen but once it was my turn things went quickly and smoothly. Shuttle came and pick me up a few minutes later it was not a big deal

Horrible selection of cars. This was the only time I refused to take the car given to me because it was so beaten up/ dented, and it didnt even have Android Auto. The replacement car I was provided was only marginally better. The people working the counters were nice, but they were under staffed so the line was long. As a Hertz gold member I usually can go straight to my car, but at this location I had to wait in line and check in at the counter.

We had ZERO problems! We will definitely use their service again.Great prices- clean car (we got a Mitsubishi SUV for around $350 for eight days through T-Mobile).Highly recommended.

Alamo staff at the reservation desk was awful. She was curt and seemed as though she definitely didnt like he job. The ONLY reason theyre getting 4 stars is because the African American lady that directed me to my rental was outstanding. She friendly, polite and professional. I saw her both coming and going.

Fast, efficient service. The agent who helped us at the Alamo counter obviously hated her job, but eventually warmed up a fraction, from her ice cold dementor. The agent who actually helped us get our minivan was so kind and thoughtful, however. She made us feel welcome and went out of her way to make our experience great.

Understaffed for sure. Staff does the best they can but changes in policy like debit cards. Totaly bad idea, no notice to customer when reservation was made, and staff takes the upset customers to the best of their ability. Representatives need help and not badly made policies that make their jobs harder.

This was a reminder of why I will never use traditional car rental agencies again. This is the line, which we waited in for an hour and a half, to get our car. There aren’t enough agents to accommodate renters and the process and paperwork required is unnecessarily lengthy, contributing even more to the bottle neck. Save your time (and money) and use a third party service like Turo.

I had booked a Hertz rental two months in advance. I mentioned at the time of booking that my flight arrived at 10:20, the time hertz listed they closed was 10:30 at the Oakland airport location. I asked if they would remain open to provide the rental should we landed late. The agent said they don’t just close and they have our flight info. I called two weeks before travel to confirm once again asking the issue of closure and was told the same thing and not to worry.On July 21 we arrived at 10:20. I tried to call to let hertz know we had landed - no answer. When asked to leave a message, the recording said the mailbox was full. I took the rental car shuttle over to hertz while my partner stayed to get checked luggage. Upon arrival I saw all rental companies in the center were closed except one - Fox Car Rentals. No Hertz agent as promised and we were an hour and a half from our hotel. For a large airport like Oakland, it is absurd to not have car rental companies open 24 hours or at least until midnight! I will never fly into Oakland airport again as their car rental center sucks and forget Hertz because they are liars.

It was fast and easy to get my rent a car but I needed to add my son to the contract and had to drive all the way to Dublin to add my son as a second driver not cool!

Easy bus ride to center, but several companies were closed and most had long lines with 30 to 60 minute wait time and one custom service representative. Dollar rerouting customs to Hertz. One of the worst I have experienced!

I found this place terribly confusing - I went for a Thrifty rental expecting a very low-contact pickup and come to find out there is no dedicated Thrifty lot due to pandemic stuff. I had to go inside and wait at the Hertz counter for a long time while they prioritized Hertz customers over the other brands. After finally getting done at the counter everything went smoothly, but they should really communicate expectations appropriately.

The worst customer service experience ever. I rented a car which had a total electrical failure within first hour. Spent over two hours on first call with roadside assistance, only to have them tell me I had to return to Oakland. Car was not operational so a tow was arranged. 27 hours from my first phone call car was towed. Hertz then charged me the full amount of the rental and told me that due to their policy I was charged for the amount of time until the car was towed and arrived back at the facility. $690 for a defective car and the resulting 27 hours, plus being stranded and missed all of the events that I flew in to attend. Called billing and told their policy, asked for a supervisor and got disconnected. Dont ever rent from this company. Wish I could enter a negative star review here.

One big bus to pick up all for rental cars. Great idea cuts down on air pollutants.

Rented cars a dozen times here from different companies. Shuttle takes you from the airport and back. Most staff are very accommodating.

Arrived on a late flight and the entire place was empty. Stood around for five minutes and decided to yell hello a few times then somebody finally came out. I think they were napping. I rented with Fox. The process was actually pretty quick which is nice. They didnt do a walk through of the car, I didnt get the car I reserved and there was no explanation. I went back afterwards and realized they gave me a car that was lower cost than what I paid for. That itself is the reason I give one star. Shady at best.

The worst service I have ever received at a car rental center, and that is saying something. Horribly understaffed, you may wait an hour or more at the rental center to speak to an agent, the get stuck with a cruddy vehicle in the end. Yuck.

5 minute drive from the airport is the OAK car rental center. All major car rental companies are centrally located here. Busses to and from OAK airport are every 5 minutes.

Frequent shuttles will get you to the rental center quickly. At the rental center agents are waiting and you may have to wait in line depending on which company youre renting from. Accessing your car and departing the rental center is easy.

Its been over a year since i last rented from Hertz at OAK. Imagine my surprise when the agent at the counter recognized me (despite my mask and greeted me by name!!! Made my day

Our car got broke into and we were immediately given a replacement and no additional charges. Hooked us up with a nice late model car w/ plenty features

Fox Rental Car is my go to. Make sure you already have the reservation setup makes it easier and faster to get in and out.

Fox is beyond AWFUL! Never can you talk to a customer service person unless you drive to the airport. The folks at pickup are not able to resolve the problems either.I drove 15 miles to the pickup site because I could not hold for another hour and a half on the phone!Insanely awful.🤯

Weird setup in terminal for gates. They overflow out into the pathway of people walking by. Not great food choices and TSA set up makes things take longer than they should Rental cars are a 10 minute bus ride away.

Id much rather fly into Oakland Intl Airport then SFO. Then you dont have to deal with the toll bridges, unless your destination is San Francisco.

The woman at the Hertz counter was quite friendly and courteous. I have had at Hertz rental car before but this experience was positive.

They rent me a car with a lot of damage and I told them and they told me that it was ok it was normal wear and wen I turn it in at different locations 6 hours later and they are charging me now $1,000 dollars for the damage that I told the it had and they told me it was normal wear under the car they had to go on their ne to look at it

The last gas station is on 98th ave on the right side. I think its a shell but not sure. Make sure you fill up there. All the major RACs are at the center. Shuttle bus to airport about every 10 minutes. Pleasant ride. Terminal 2 is southwest. Terminal 1 is everyone else. Neighborhood approaching RAC from highway appears seedy. Use caution.

Nice airport with all amenities

This arrogant lady at the desk rented us a car we could not fit 5 guys into... and as replacement we got the smallest gmc truck available with no compensation... we should have walked away but had already spent 1,5 hour of our only day off - so we decided to take the car and drove down the coast... the car was fine - just too small.

Car rentals here are much cheaper than other locations. Easy to get to and all the major companies on the same block. Go with Alamo.

Beware, most of the rental businesses are closed by 8pm. I was not told this as I arrived at 8:20, and was screwed. I was fortunate that I was able to get a car from another place that was still there.

Extremely easy and convenient to get and rent a car.

Although it requires a shuttle bus, it goes by pretty quick. The facilities are clean and the people are helpful.
