I am back to update this because I left a review about the phone number rather than the practice(s). I just want to say that all the staff, nurses, and doctors at the different offices and hospital are wonderful: expertise in pediatrics and compassionate. The problem is with calling: hours and hours of sitting on hold to try to speak with someone.Do not send your child here. To call to schedule anything or speak with a nurse about medical advice, you must go through a series of menu items and sit on hold for times that range from 30 minutes to two hours. They do not fax back form requests to schools and daycares, even after you call—and sit on hold multiple times, in my case the most recent was 1 hour, 24 minutes, and 44 seconds—and beg them to just send back the form so your child can have her inhaler administered. My two year old ended up in the hospital because they failed to do this and daycare couldn’t administer the inhaler without the signed form. My early preschool program faxed them the request over two weeks ago and I called three times to follow up. When your child needs critical care you are unable to speak with anyone, even in an emergency. You sit on hold. We are finding a new pediatrician now because of this problem, and I’m hoping this review spares parents the stress and anxiety I’ve experienced trying to get care for my toddler. Absolutely terrible, I’ve never been so horrified by a medical practice in my life.

I’ve been coming here as a patient since I was a baby and it’s so frustrating when you’re on hold for hours on end trying to be connected to a nurse. At least there used to be a call back number but now it’s just sitting and waiting and who has time to be waiting for over an hour just to speak with a nurse. If there’s not enough staff then say that don’t transfer patients and just have them sit listening to the same message over when over again. This is supposed to be a medical office and half the time you can’t even get connected to anybody

Unacceptable. We love our doctors. We love the staff. We love the nurses. But for urgent matters, the hold time is upwards of an hour. There is an option for callback, and that is hours of a wait. I hate to leave a bad review, so Ive looked here, spoken to various staff after (finally) getting through, and emailed the advocacy email (as responded by SSMC in their answers to reviews) multiple times. Ive gotten no response.Medical needs are not being met. This is unacceptable. We love the team my kids have and we have. But the phone situation is unbelievable. And its not new. And its not short-term. And its not being dealt with.

Control your patient population or staff-up! On hold forever trying to get through to PCP on urgent matter. Only 28 people ahead of me! Don’t press the option for call-back - they NEVER call back! This happens every-time I call - this is not isolated. When there, doctors and other medical staff are rushed - it’s more like a factory than a medical facility.Used to be great - now they are all about the money and could care less about patient care.

The utter disregard for patient’s time is astounding. Every single time without fail I’m sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes to an hour after my appointment was due to start…the attitude of the staff on the phone is horrendous. Don’t know why you would choose a profession in which patience and sympathy is critical when you don’t possess either of those traits. Good luck getting an appointment, I was told if I rescheduled I would have to wait until the end of 2022. The audacity to say you’re accepting new patients when you can’t even handle the load you have now.

The sheer incompetence of the people that work here never ceases to absolutely astound me. Every employee you speak to complains about the new phone system that none of them know how to work even though theyve had it for over a year. If you use an operator to connect your call, you can guarantee they are connecting you to the wrong department, which you wont discover until finally someone answers after youve been waiting for 30 minutes to an hour. The specialty departments all answer the phones for one another, so you often cant do anything other than leave a message with a nurse in a totally different department and hope it eventually makes it to the right person.A few months ago, I dropped off paid leave paperwork for my primary care physician to fill out for the state. After 3 weeks of waiting, they finally submitted it - with the wrong dates. After correcting it, I had them send it to me so I could re-submit the paperwork myself. They only sent me 6 of the 7 pages, so I had to drive all the way down to the office to pick up the paperwork after being unable to get through to the secretaries on the phone for over an hour.Just last month, I had to have leave paperwork submitted again. It only took them two weeks this time, and they left me a voicemail indicating they had faxed it directly to the state. An additional 3 weeks go by, and the state informs me they never received it. I reached out to SSMC to have them send it to me so I can submit it, because they are apparently incapable of doing so. The PDF they emailed me is blank on 2 of the 7 pages, so guess who has to drive back to the office again....Edit one month later on 10/5/21:I had left a message with my physician on Wednesday 9/29 as I was having issues with my anxiety and getting sick every morning. Even though I have called back 3 times since then, I still have yet to hear back. Today, the nurse I spoke with let slip that my physician actually had responded and had an opening for me on Monday, but the nurses never called me to relay the message so I missed the opportunity. Every single person in the Norwell facility is completely incompetent at their job.

Awful experience here, my doctor was the least sympathetic doctor I’ve ever met in my whole life and they are terrible at refilling/ managing prescriptions. I was told I had to “schedule” an appointment with them to get a refill for my SSRI. Not even go in before they could refill, I just needed to schedule. Doesn’t make sense to me. Actually gave me an ultimatum to get my depression and anxiety medication. I explained my situation, I have dental issues causing me pain and my mother just died. I explained that as “doctors” they should know the dangers of abruptly stopping medication. They’ve left me without my meds numerous times. I’d put in for a refill and never hear back. I was also told my doctor had left, only after me reaching out to them. Now she seems to be back? Makes no sense. Place is a mess. They don’t seem to care about the well-being of their patients.Edit: per their response to my review, I did reach out to the Office of Experience and Engagement a week ago via email and haven’t gotten a single response back. Don’t act like your working to resolve issues when you’re not.

I am a patient of SSMC and transferred from another practice in the area. I am happy that finally I found a practice that is simply the best and responds back faster. I find the doctors , the nurses , and all staff to be knowledgeable, courteous , empathetic and there to help. I must also commend the management for running the operations in a flawless manner. What I like the most is how SSMC is using modern technology and staff is also well versed with it. The option to contact and connect with your doctors are amazing , I do not have to be on phone for 20 minutes and I can simply book appointment using my chart, I can check in using the MyChart app and even pay my bills from there. It also reminds me of my appointments. It is simply the best.I am impressed !!! Please keep on doing the good Job you are doing in serving the community. My best wishes !

Good afternoon, I have just returned from a upsetting visit at the lab in Norwell. I made an appointment for labs for today 2/4/21 at 12:10. I left my office in Hull and arrived at SSMC around noon. I was screened and told to check in at the Front Desk. I did and headed over to the lab to wait. Everyone who came in before me and after had been seen and I was still sitting there. I was just about to ask it I had been forgotten, when a woman at the lab desk asked me if I was waiting or needed something. I told her I had checked in at the Front Desk. She then found my lab orders at a printer. I was then taken at 12:20. Luckily, Jill was the phlebotomist and the experience was pleasant. This is the second time I have been forgotten about. If I am supposed to check in to both places, put up a sign! I used my lunch and 2 breaks to make this appointment and still was late coming back to work. Why even make appointments!! I have been a patient of Dr. Murphy for probably as long as she has been at SSMC and really dont want to leave her because of a problem with the lab. I look forward to hearing from you.I had to return the next day for more labs. I was screened and told I did not need to check in at the front desk, just go to the lab. Departments need to communicate with each other!I sent 2 messages on Facebook but never received a response.

I was very disappointed about the way my mother in law was treated today. I took her in for an appointment because she has not been feeling well. My mother in a law is 83 and blind and has a list of other medical problems. The greeter doing the screenings this morning looked at my mother in law and pointed at a board and asked her if she had any of these symptoms. My mother in law had a look of shock on her face. She is standing there with a cane made for blind people and they want her to read a sign to see if she has these symptoms? I stepped around my mother in law and said to the woman she is blind. She said to me “that’s why I said it to the both of you” with a stern tone and a dirty look. It was so rude. Since when is this the way you talk to your elderly patients? I was disgusted with the greeter. She should not be in this position if she has no compassion for the elderly. Replace your greeter. This was not the first unfriendly welcome into your facility by this greeter.

We just took a random appointment with whoever we could get one with. We were paired with Dr Benjamin Ryan. He is in family medicine and he treated us so well. The short of it is, my while family ended up switching to him, and we were so luck to find him. He really cares and takes the time YOU need and never tries to rush you out. Things can happen through the day but he also makes it a point to be on time with his patients. The same goes for Cecil Hodges an NP that works in family medicine as well.

Just OK. I wish there were more convenient alternatives for family medicine in the area-Pediatrics are EXCELLENT; weve not had any issues with this department. For my wife and, we plan to investigate other facilities, and for some specialists, have already switched.-Prescription refills take a long time for even the most basic scripts taken regularly.-If they have to call you for a follow up on anything at all, they leave a vague message on your voicemail. Even if you ask them to leave the specifics because youre a busy professional who cant sit by the phone and just want to have the information as simply as possible, they will not do so. You have to call back, wait on hold, and talk to someone.-They have dropped the ball on follow up items that were very important to our family. In one particular case it was a major mistake which was clearly their fault, and they would not adjust the charges.- Doctors are hit or miss, and some misses are significant.-Weve found surprises in our medical records that were never discussed with us.-I feel SSMC grew too big and cant give the level of care we need, outside of pediatrics.

My pulmonologist is Dr. Karen Sloan. For four plus years I had been ill due to an inhalation exposure and had been too many doctors in an effort to find out why I was so ill. None could determine a diagnosis. Some even questioned if my illness was in my mind. I saw Dr. Sloan when she started practicing at SSM. She asked if I had ever been tested for the illness that I was ultimately diagnosed with. Dr. Sloan sent me to the only hospital that diagnosed and treated this disease. The test indicated 92% collapse of trachea and airways upon exhalation. In conclusion I finally had a diagnosis. My wife and I were so elated. Dr. Sloan has been a blessing. She is very professional and kind. Five Stars for a gifted physician.

I have been going to SSMC for about five years now, and I can say with certainty that they are a good group of caring people most of whom are very knowledgeable and insightful. They are not a hospital, so if you suspect that you have something very wrong that needs immediate attention, like surgery you should go to South Shore Hospital instead. I had acute pain in my chest from an inflamed gall bladder, and although I was given an anti-inflammatory to reduce the pain, only a hospital can administer something stronger. The folks at SSMC are very good and provide excellent service for what their purpose is, to treat non-acute medical care.

As if this place couldnt get any worse. Now, they dont take appointments for urgent care. You have to just go in and wait. They say that this decision was based on a survey, but I assume that the survey was given to the staff, not the patients. So now, instead of being able to get an appointment to efficiently address something minor, you have to just go in and wait for a couple of hours out of your day. This is the opposite of quality healthcare - its a process that benefits the staff to the detriment of the patients.

They are the most dangerous “medical professionals”. This medical facility is also very dangerous to your health. They truly have no regard for your health and they are only in it for the money. It’s a terribly run place, the doctors rush you, and the wait times for calls average about 40 minutes on a good day. I am not very impressed with this facility. Not, the Doctor, as I dont believe it is her fault but the facility itself and how they operate.I have a specialist Dr there and this is the 2nd time I have had a flare up with my condition, it is also the 2nd time that when I called to see her I was unable to get an appointment. For one reason or another she was not there when I called and both times they referred me to their Urgent Care dept. The 1st time I did go to the Urgent Care and was seen by a Dr who had very little understanding of my symptoms and how to treat them. I was given minimal medication for my condition, I pointed this out to the Dr but she was unmoved. The following week I tried once again to see my regular specialist and once again she was unavailable so I saw yet another Urgent Care Dr at this site who put me back on Prednisone again and also one other anti biotic. The beginning of this month(Feb 20) I had another flare up with my condition and yet again I was unable to see my Dr. This time I went to my primary care and he did what he could do and, I might add, which is probably what she wouldve prescribed also. I am still having problems and I called again today Feb 20th and yes... still unable to make contact or make an appointment. If they have a cancellation on Monday the 24th and I can be there at an hours notice I will get to see my Dr. They only have one specialist Doctor for this disease on their books. There is no back up and I have been told that.Obviously I am researching someone else as this is completely unacceptable for specialist treatment. Once again this is a criticism of how they run their facility and not a criticism of the Doctor whom I trust and who has taken good care of me whenever I have been able to see her

I know my body and if the Dr can see in my chart, I am rarely on antibiotics if I come in and feel I need them, I have a fever etc.. then imo they should prescribe them. You are better off going to Carewell Urgent where you are seen more quickly, given meds and you are on your way feeling better in a day or 2.
