I have been very happy with South Shore Vision Care over the past several years. We are a family of 4 and we are all patients there. Dr. Botello is knowledgeable and polite. Heather the technician is very helpful and provides many frame options in the showroom. Bobby ( she) is at the front desk, but I’ll bet she could do everyone else’s jobs as she knows a lot and is a great multitasker. We recommend South Shore Vision

Outstanding service! I went in there as a recommendation from a friend as I was looking to have my glasses fixed. I didn’t know what to expect as they were very busy . The receptionist at the front desk asked me if I got them there. I said no and she took my glasses and fixed it for me. She was very kind. Would highly recommend !

Office staff needs a complete overhaul, rude and disrespectful! The Dr. Was nice but her staff ruined it for her. I will never go back there. They did not want to give me my expired prescription to bring to a new office. I mean what was I going to do with it, it was expired!Then my mom was told she needed to have a test because the doctor thought she saw something, then proceeded to cancel on her twice. She finally contacted another office and she needed emergency eye surgery to be completed within one week of seeing that new doctor or else she faced retinal detachment (severe). If the doctor could not handle the workload due to COVID-19 as was the reason given for cancelling the appointment twice, they should have referred her elsewhere. I am glad my mom didnt wait. She will not be going back to this office ever again.So that is a whole family that will not be returning to this office. I feel like the doctor just wanted the money to herself from the insurance company and that was the reason she didnt refer her out. Not acceptable. If you see something in an image and the patient is telling you they cant see even 1 black letter on the board, get them in right away! Listen to your patients people! If you were too busy, refer out!And the office manager needs to be fired! She is not a people person at all. If you are tired or stressed out, find a new job because you are not doing anyone any favors if you are miserable. Move on!

Appointments are cancelled without notification to patient. Had schedule an appointment one year ago and went today to find the office closed and hours changed on a sign. Would have been nice to have a call to have advanced notice and be able to reschedule.Two weeks since I call their office and left a message asking for a call back and no reply. If this is how they treat long term customers I would question how they will treat any customer. Poor customer service.

I have had a very similar experience as other recent reviews describe. I have been a customer here for years, but there is a new owner of the optician shop and she has no idea about customer care. I lost a screw for my ear piece. When I stopped by to have it fixed (a 5 minute thing with the previous owner), I was told I needed an appointment or I could leave my glasses–which I did. Two days later I called and was told they hadn’t been done yet and she couldn’t tell me when it might be ready and I would have to wait until “she was able to get to it”. When I expressed my need to have glasses as soon as possible and it shouldn’t take a minute to do, all I got was a “sorry they will be done when she is able to get to them”. I picked them up and went somewhere else......

I was very disappointed by the staff at the desk. I waited for about 25 minutes after my appointment time, which is understandable. I went up to the desk to ask for an update where I was told only a few more moments. After another 10 minutes passed I went out to my car and got a call back number. I was called back about 15 minutes later and was told I would be seen right away. I assumed she was being serious so I went back in. Then I sat there for another 30 minutes. In total, I waited over an hour for my appointment. When I and another family member called the day before to get some follow-up information the staff at the desk was also very rude. They told her that she needed it even after she provided it they continued to give her attitude. Not to mention the fact that she also waited on hold for about 20 minutes. Overall I am not impressed with the staff and the wait times. I will say that the doctors there are always amazing. They do very through exams and take the time to answer all my questions Back to the other staff though. Normally this wouldnt be an issue, except for the fact that it seems to happen every single visit. Overall I am not impressed.

My sons glasses broke twice after 6 months. I purchased 3 pairs of glasses between him and myself including eye exams. They informed me the manufacturers warranty expired on the glasses and they did not even attempt to offer a repair, replace or credit. Lost my familys business.

I went a year ago or so and had a great experience. I was very excited to have my appointment after waiting because of pandemic. Dr is great, professional and helpful. The receptionist was VERY condescending and rude! I was planning on buying very nice glasses but she wouldnt help, answer questions or even be courteous. Extremely disappointed in my experience.

This was a great place to go but after COVID I couldn’t even get in to fix my glasses. Their appointment system wants a confirmation call yet nobody answers the phones. I tried repeatedly to call during different times of the day but no answer. So I gave up. Very disappointing as I have used them for several years.

Have been going there for years. Overall a good place. Not a long wait to be seen and friendly staff. Great that they are near my home and have evening hours. Have had some issues with getting called when my contacts came in but I make sure to follow up in a week or so and all is good.

This office called and canceled my daughter appt with less than 24 hours notice. I made the appt over 30 days ago reason being headaches and vision issues. When I called back to reschedule to find out why the appt was canceled no-one picked up the phone. I told them it was unacceptable to canceled with no notice and no offer to see another dr. The office worker called back the next morning and was incredibly rude and condescending. She told me there was no other doctor on staff. And that I was being unreasonable. When I told her I certainly didnt appreciate her lecturing me on the reasons why it took so long to get an appointment, she hung with the phone. Unprofessional, rude staff. I will take my business elsewhere and would recommend others do the same.

Dr. Botello is outstanding. Truly understands optometry better than any other doctor I have every visited. I had a very complicated eye challenge and she diagnosed me and cured what was a very difficult situation. I would highly recommend SS Vision to anyone and especially Dr. Botello.

Dr Linda Bothello has been a life saver in helping me deal with my dry eye condition. She is very knowledgeable and empathetic .She schedules follow up monitoring appointments and will even provide samples and product coupons to help defray costs.

I visited this office in 2018 and had a great experience. In trying to book an eye examination for this year, the front desk was rude, condesending, not helpful and hung up on me mutiple times. When I tried to discuss their rudeness, they were not willing to listen, became argumentative and hung up. She refused to provide the name of someone that I could complain to and had the attitude that being right was more important than being helpful.I would not recommed getting any services from this establishment and will be making an appointment elsewhere.If ownership reads these reviews, I would be more than happy to discuss my experience with the staff here. All the staff was extremely helpful. My experience was pleasant. You dont need 20/20 to SEE south shore vision care knows what theyre doing. Lenses, frames and exams, theyll be your (g)last stop for every thing eye related.Eye have too much time on my hands. *sigh*5 stars.Your fav,Kenny Johnson 😎

The Dr. was very nice. The guy who actually does the eyeglasses, Wolfgang, was horrible. He broke my glasses before I even got them, not once but twice, and it ended up taking me almost 6 months to get my glasses and nothing was even don’t to make the situation any better. The only reason I even got my glasses was because I took matters into my own hands and called the frame manufacturer myself. I feel like this dude lied to me and nothing to try to make up for it. Highly recommend avoiding this place as I have coworkers who have gone through similar situations with him

I have been going to this office for over a decade. In all this time, Ive never experienced such rude office staff. Blatently refused to run a standard exam through my insurance and was instructed to pay out of pocket. When I asked if they would TRY my insurance (since it had been covered every year before) I was literally told no. Not just the one woman at the desk, but the other woman she grabbed when I asked her to check my chart. So neither would look at my medical history or run my insurance. Not sure what use it is to have office staff like that.Dr. Botello is friendly and kind. The eye exam tech is a thoughtful woman. I had worried when Dr. Eaton had retired she would find employment elsewhere. I was happy to see Dr. Eaton today anyway.Unfortunately I will consider looking elsewhere for eye exams and prescriptions in the future. Im not wasting my money or time here.

Excellent. Dr Botello and her staff are thorough, professional and helpful. I went in for my eye exam and my fitting for my contacts. I also purchased glasses from the store too, which the frame had to be special ordered. Highly recommend and will go back again.

The Doctor here is extremely nice and considerate, but the rest of the staff can be very rude and condescending. They repeatedly make mistakes for peoples appointments and overcharge for simple services. You would be wasting your time and money with this business.

The atmosphere and presentation of the store seemed very professional and welcoming. That said, almost all of the staff except had terrible personalities that make the customers feel uncomfortable. They also overcharge you for all their services and sell cheap, breakable contact lenses.

The staff here seems pretty unorganized. They constantly require you to take an eye exam when clearly you dont need it. They also hadnt shipped NY contact lenses for weeks after i ordered them.

There were two reasons I selected South Shore Vision Care to get my eye exam today.1) Because they are listed as accepting VSP Insurance coverage. And 2) Because they boast on their web page that they have, quote, the “Largest selection of Costa Del Mar & Maui Jim on the South Shore. We are the Premiere Outfitter for Costa Rx and Maui Jim Rx”What they don’t mention, until after the customer has gotten his eye exam, is all that bragging about being the “premiere outfitter” of Maui Jim Rx is pretty much a lie since they also will not accept ANY insurance coverage for Maui Jim prescription glasses.Why would any person without some sort of brain damage buy Maui Jim Rx glasses from these people? I just saved well over one hundred dollars by taking my new prescription with me and driving 6 miles to Lunette Optic in Hingham to buy my Maui Jims there, where they DO accept insurance coverage towards the very glasses they display in their shop. Crazy concept huh?If they don’t want to accept the insurance towards the Maui Jims maybe it would make more sense to remove the them from their showroom rather that bragging that they are the “Premier Outfitters” of Maui Jim. Because they are not.
