I have nothing but great things to say about Hotel California. My family and I were desperate to find a safe, holistic, and reputable treatment center to send one of our family members to in order to help him deal with his severe addiction to alcohol. After years of hardship for him, Hotel California took him in and helped show him a new way of living.First, hotel exposed my cousin to AA, which has been essential in keeping him sober after he left. AA is by no means the only way to stay sober, but Hotels commitment to serving their clients holistically allowed my cousin to find a program that helped maintain his sobriety. Second, my cousin says that he valued the compassion and work ethic of all of the staff members at Hotel. In his experience they went above and beyond, making sure that all of his needs were meant. He says that he felt comfortable in his living space, and that he was safe to pursue a life free of drugs and alcohol. Lastly, the location of Hotel in Huntington and Newport Beach were the perfect settings for my cousin to finally achieve long term sobriety. I was envious of the experiences he was able to have in such a beautiful place with men and women trying to tackle the same issues in life.I would highly recommend Hotel to anyone who is seeking a sober life . I am very thankful that Hotel came into our lives in such a positive way.

Ive heard nothing but horror stories from other people about other treatment centers. My experience at Hotel California by the Sea was nothing short of spectacular. The staff genuinely care about each client. The facilities are top notch. I was fortunate enough to see both the Cincinnati and California facilities both first hand. If I ever have a friend or family member in need of the services provided, I would insist on calling here first. Quite frankly I am alive and sober to this day because of this program. I still attend meetings via zoom as an Alumni. If you think you know what inpatient treatment is, you have not experienced Hotel California By the Sea.

I don’t think I’ll ever come back here, and that’s one reason why HCBTS deserves more than 5 stars.I would not change my experience here at all. My life did a complete 180 after leaving here and I’m so grateful to this facility for that. All you have to do as a client is show up and want sobriety- they provide the structure, education, and support for you to achieve it. It’s luxurious in my opinion, but even if I was fed saltines and slept on a blow up mattress here, the treatment would’ve been worth it.

I attended Hotel California almost two years ago. I just can’t sing the praises of this program enough! I found the staff to be not only professional but also so caring about the success of my journey. They provided much needed therapy and trauma support. So many important modalities were offered that insured my continued growth and learning.Even after completion of my time at Hotel California by the Sea, the alumni program has continued to provide invaluable support. The staff, facilitators, and relationships that were fostered with my peers have built me a foundation that I can be proud of.Highly, highly recommend.!

Amazing group of individuals who genuinely care about each client that walks through their doors. Treatment can be uncomfortable, however, the team at hotel is a group of people who truly show compassion, care, and encouragement for their clients. Therapists and case managers at hotel are knowledgeable, patient, and have a wide array of experiences. The support staff are full of amazing, hard working, role models who I look up to, and learned from daily. I am very grateful for the time I spent here, they helped me take my life back.

Hotel California was a huge blessing for me and my family. It was a safe place for me to learn skills to cope with my addiction and to learn the causes of my self destructive tendencies. The most influential part of my experience was the house staff. These people went out of there way to share there experience and were always there to chat (even to this day 5 years later). I owe a large part of my success to hotel and am forever grateful to the awesome people that work there.

Having the opportunity to come to Hotel California By The Sea was an absolute life changing experience for me. I was 37 years old when I came to Hotel California and had struggled with addiction for the majority of my life. I couldn’t break free of the negative cycle of substance abuse that kept me from reaching my potential in life and being the best version of myself possible. While at Hotel California I was able to identify and treat the underlying issues of my addiction. They have an amazing staff of very knowledgeable and good hearted people who introduced me to a program of recovery that today I use as a design for living. I developed positive coping skills and an overall awareness of my addiction/alcoholism. Through gaining this awareness and these tools that I use on a daily basis I am sober today and just celebrated one year of sobriety. I strongly recommend Hotel California By The Sea to anyone suffering with addiction or alcoholism that is looking to get sober and wants a new lease on life! Thank you Hotel California!!!

I’d recommend Hotel California, as somebody who had many failed attempts at sobriety prior to being in their care. Their personalized approach helped me maintain extended sobriety for the first time in years. The reason I chose them was because of all the rave reviews I saw online, during my thorough research for a treatment facility.

Hotel California by the Sea saved my life. I had been to rehab before but this was a completely different experience for me. I had so many negative and scared expectations going into rehab again, but this facility and the staff here took all of my fears and worries away. It is a place of healing. A place of learning how to live a new life. A place of making life long friends. Sandys house helped me learn how to live a proper and healthy life - while focusing on my co-occurring disorders and allowing me to finally come to terms and heal from my life’s traumas. I will be forever grateful to this facility and everyone in it. Not only have they helped me learn how to live a healthy and positive life - but inspired me to decide to start my career in addiction counseling so I can someday help others like I was helped here.

Hi I’m sydney. I’m an alcoholic and addict. My sobriety date is March 11, 2019. Having been to numerous treatment centers myself trying to get sober, Hotel holds a special place in my heart. Seeing as this is where my recovery began, I have remained close to everyone. At first when I got there I just thought ‘well it’s treatment again’. But during my stay, which was quite a long time for those of you who know, I created a bond with people especially the staff. I can honestly say Hotel put up with me and taught me how to love myself. That was my biggest problem. I could go on and on about the staff there but I have to give a shout out to some people. Jean is an incredible woman and always held me accountable. As a matter of fact, she still does. Melissa was upfront with me and helped me more than I ever told her. Natasha, which was always a love-hate relationship from the beginning but yet now she is my second mom and I love that woman to death. Katrina made my time there more than tolerable. I am truly blessed to have met her. Carmen, hah I’ll never forget the conversations as well as the direct advice. Neal always let me come in his office and vent about anything for a few minutes. I do have to save Fernando for last. He shows the clients that someone cares from the moment he meets you and I can’t think of anything more important. He also continues to hold me accountable. Hotel was truly a blessing in my life and I will always consider them my family.

After going through rehab after rehab and not getting the help that I needed, the last thing I wanted to do when I got sucked back into my addiction was reach out to yet another facility. Luckily, my life had gotten bad enough that I was willing to take the chance and check myself into another treatment center. 2 years later, it’s clear to me that I made the right decision to go to Hotel California By the Sea. I’ve never been able to string together months of sobriety yet alone over 2 years. The concept didn’t make sense to me. To keep it short, Hotel California saved my life and the experience with every staff member there, from my case manger Jean, to client advocates Fernando and James, made the stay totally worth it. The friendships and accountability within, are far more than I was expecting but in the end, is what made the difference. There’s too many good things to say about Hotel and the staff they hire. When it comes to long term sobriety, Hotel California By the Sea has a program that works!

This treatment center saved my life! Fernando picked me up at the airport and made me feel immediately safe and welcome. He was patient, kind, super funny and so helpful. I was so scared going into the program but he was able to make me smile, take some deep breathes and offered me some really incredible advice! I am really grateful for Fernando, it was such a hard night for me and he made it easier. The detox center was filled with the most incredible staff! From the beds, to the incredible food to all the amazing conversations and relatability throughout the house, I felt comfortable and taken care of every second.I then transitioned into the Sandy’s program(inpatient), the staff there where absolutely phenomenal! My case manager Suzie, was so knowledgable and made me feel heard and important. They were so organized and I appreciated the structure soooo much in this house! Michelle, the house manager, is truly remarkable! She makes sure the house runs smoothly and I am so grateful for all I learned from her while there! Her presence and structure she enforced gave me more gifts and taught me more than I think she understands. It made me learn time management and get a good routine down for myself. Then, there is Flagstaff (php/iop.) The house manager there, Katrina, is someone I truly admire! I spent hours talking to her and her ability to know when to listen, when to give advice and when she can help fix a situation is unparalleled. She is someone I will carry with me for as long as she will allow me to. (hopefully forever.) I don’t think I can put into words how much Katrina means to me and all that she offered me while I was at Hotel California. She is truly an Angel! Jane, my case manager is absolutely incredible! She was attentive and blunt which is exactly what I needed. She knew the program and works the program and is an incredible representation of recovery! Markie is another angel here, she lights up every room and is someone here that makes you want what she has. She is living proof that sobriety is fun, beautiful and possible. You know when you meet someone and you can tell they are genuinely happy just by being close to them from their energy? you don’t quite understand how thats possible but you know you just want it?! That’s Markie!! She is REMARKABLE, uplifting and so inspiring. I love her so much and I do want that, I want what she has, so I’ll keep doing what she tells me! 😆 McKenna is sunshine and inspiring! She is always thinking of new creative activities for us to do and makes sure we are also having fun! She is so passionate and has made a huge impact on me during my time there! Kim keeps this house running smoothly and makes sure everyone has a voice and is a huge part of the glue there. If you want to go to a program that doesn’t just teach you the program (because the facilitators are all top notch and you learn sooo much on addiction, trauma, relapse, family, relationships, mental health, healthy coping skills, how the brain works, meditation/mindfulness, AA/NA, and SO much more) but you want a program where you are living with people who are DOING and LIVING the program as well, you will come to Hotel California. They will love and accept you with open arms, teach you more than you thought possible, and you will not be disappointed in the level of care and education you will get here. I owe this program my life!!! Thank you so much, Hotel California by the Sea! I will not be able to ever put into words how grateful I am for your program but I will continue to work what you taught me and show you! Sincerely, Samantha B.

It was a great treatment..... i really liked this one because its got some freedom but just enough structure for you to learn how to be a little independant.... the staff was the best part. Everyone there works hard to work with you and help you anyway possible. If the staff were any dofferent i would give a lower rating but with how kind and helpful the staff are i absolutely loved it there. Only thing i would say is the program its self would be alot better if it werent covid but they did good with what they could while its covid season....you gotta really want sobriety for this program to work though.

Over 2 years ago someone very close to me was at deaths door in the throws of addiction/alcoholism, had lost career, family, etc. They didn’t think that they could recover and had given up hope. In a last ditch effort they enrolled at Hotel California By The Sea in Newport Beach, CA. I can’t understate the transformation that I have seen - nothing short of a miracle. They have repaired relationships with the family and friends, repaired they finances and rekindled their career. Most importantly they are happy and healthy and living life to its fullest!!There are are many treatment options available (and more than one were tried) but the personalized touch and true concern fostered by the people at HCS made all the difference in my opinion. There were two individuals in particular I would like to call out. Joe Franza and Fernando V take a very personal interest in the client’s recovery. This is NOT the case at most places. If you have a friend or loved one that is in need of help I whole heartedly endorse Joe Franza, Fernando V. and the rest of the wonderful people at Hotel California By The Sea!!!

I was recently a patient at the HCBTSs program in Newport Beachs Seashore house. The staff that run the house is great, as well as the therapists and most of the case workers, I am only speaking of my experience there but its how they do business. I went from 1 House in Huntington Beach for Detox which was Fine, the staff in the detox house was great, Dez is a great asset to that house. After being in Detox i was moved to the Seashore house which is 1 block from the beach, its NOT oceanfront, the house itself is nice other than the entire time i was there the refrigerator did not work properly and the cold food was stored in a fridge that sat at around 55 degrees. It was still not fixed when I left. But there is a log kept in the kitchen that someone fills out that documented the fridge being at 34 degrees daily and the freezer was supposedly kept at -10 Degrees F which was not true, the freezer wouldnt even freeze water.I had 1 case worker, Kari, that I felt comfortable with then i was told that I would have a new case worker so I essentially started from scratch with a case worker that I really wasnt comfortable with but thats nor here or there.Be sure to ask a lot of questions before committing to this center, most of the activities that they promise on their website do not happen. They sell a mental health program with 3 different kinds of personalized care which doesnt happen due to Covid. They call it State of the art treatment but I didnt experience anything that was state of the art by any means, Everything is done Via Zoom so there is no real face to face therapy, again, Due to Covid. They say that there are major restrictions in their program due to Covid, but they do not do any screening of patients for Covid before they take you in. The house is a sitting duck for Covid and its my opinion that its only a matter of time before a Covid outbreak happens there.I was at Detox as promised, then moved to the Seashore house as promised, then what will happen, to all patients according to the staff, is that they will move to a 3rd house which they do not tell you prior to arriving. They try to tell you its based on progression but the truth is that they charge your insurance company a large amount of money per day while at the seashore house then eventually the insurance company complains and wants a lower rate at which point they move you to a 3rd house where they bill your insurance with a different code. There is absolutely no mention of having to move from house to house and there is absolutely no mention of moving to a different house in the patients treatment plan. It is a sudden move, you wake up one day and they tell you that you are moving that day. They upsell the 3rd house and tell you that its an upgrade when in reality you go from having a private room at the seashore house to a shared room at the 3rd house, where you are essentially living in a sober house, where you have to do your own cooking and grocery shopping. In the seashore house you do groups from 9am-3pm then the rest of the day is yours to hang out on the beach etc.. And on the weekends you do 1 group at 10am Sat and Sun then the rest of the day is free time. At the Upgraded house you get (3) 45 minute passes per day with no groups on weekends so you are stuck with a lot of free time which is mostly restricted to the house. IT IS NOT AN UPGRADE by any means. It becomes very clear that you are just a dollar sign to them and not a patient. I had 6 days left in treatment when i woke up one day and was told that I would be moving that day, Again, no mention of the move in my treatment plan. With 6 days left I decided that I would just catch a plane and head home. I was then told that the insurance company would frown on that due to me leaving AMA (Against Medical Advice) However there was nobody with a medical degree that suggested that i do not leave. I was pretty much told that if i leave that I would relapse. You are nothing more than a dollar sign for their Production line Rehab.. Ask lots of questions up front.

I would really like to put 0 stars for hotel California . coming from out of state to socal a few years ago iv been to quite a few rehabs... each one has there own problems but this place takes the cake of worst ive been to. i hope this serves as a warning to others thinking about going here or sending ur children here.first off the staff are very poorly trained. I was at this detox house where I think everybody had just started working ther eand had no idea what was going on or how to get ahold of the doctor or case managers, etc.they just goofed around like they were 10 years old and didnt pay attention to the clients. this one girl staff was very mean to the clients especially the guys and also mean to co-workers. I dont understand how they are Able to get anything done working with somebody like that. I dont think she was higher than a staff tech... theres no way she would have a higher position. also this one male staff tech gave me and other girls very creepy vibes and none of us wanted to go near the office when he was working. overnight staff was very laid back and nice to us but the three times I came downstairs for a snack I look into the office and the staff is sleeping lol. every time. idk sounds like a liability to me. case managers are therapist were friendly. at least the ones I was assigned to were.dont waste ur money or insurance on this place, go somewhere with a better reputation and with better qualified staff. its hard to sort out the good from the bad ones as there are so many within such a small space in SoCal, Orange County to be specific.food was great, so theres the one star.

My husband recently left the Newport Beach facility. I gave them a 2 stars because their daily content was good in regards to sobriety. I do believe that my husband accepted hes an alcoholic. However, the family and administrative side are a joke. My advice is to ASK lots of QUESTIONS....specific questions. Before selecting this treatment, I asked how Covid will affect treatment and they assured me everything was fine. My husband had a lot of down time. The weekends were only 2-3 meetings (the whole weekend). My husband was told, if it wasnt for Covid, they would be doing other things. Weekends were so hard, people in the house were irritable and bored. They should have taken a more proactive approach. The schedule seemed to change weekly. Often times, having nothing to do after 3pm. Many of the house members complained. I was told that his case manager would call me every week. I received one call the first week. I called the case manager the 2nd week and he did respond, but I never received a call after that. Upon arrival, with in 5 minutes that house manager asked my husband his plan and my husband said 30 days. The house manager said, were going to suggest you stay longer. he knew nothing about my husband at the time. And surely, every single guy in the house, was advised to stay longer. There wasnt any classes or preparation for how to integrate once back at home. Lastly, we were told this was a professional executive mens program for ages 40-50...my husband was put in a room with a gentleman who had severe issues with his legs. There were bloody bandages all over and the mans bed was full of fluid from his legs. My husband complained to 3 different people and 2 days later the man had to go back to the hospital. When the man came back from the hospital, they put him back in to a room with my husband. Completely unacceptable. I believe there is an aspect of sobriety, but quite a bit of over promise, under-delivery.

I had a fantastic experience as a client at Hotel California. I was here from 2/22/18 - 6/18/18. You get to know the staff as friends, not just staff. Most of them are in recovery as well, so they can completely relate to what youre going through, and vice versa. They give you hope, and the tools for success in sobriety. There are a lot of shady treatment centers out there, and this is NOT one of them. Everything they do is above-board and for the good of the client. I could go on for days about Hotel California, but trust a former client. If youre looking for a great treatment center, COME TO HOTEL CALIFORNIA!

We had the most horrific experience with this rehab center just yesterday. We had committed to having him enter this rehab center and the drivers that came to get him from the hotel he was at, stopped on the way to their center and bought him a bottle of alcohol and told him to drink it before we get to the house. There are no words to describe the unprofessionalism that I (his mother) experienced after speaking to someone who claimed to be a vice president of this company. He blamed my son for their driver given him a bottle of vodka. My son ended up in the ER, drunk out of his mind and suicidal. When we confronted the driver he flatly denied this happened (said just stated flatly that didnt happen) and then later said ok it did happen and asked what can we do to make it right now. We said nothing and put him in a different rehab. Please, I beg of you, do not use this facility no matter how desperate you are. They are not good people...they dont care about the recovery of the individual at all and the fact that they would give a self proclaimed alcoholic a bottle on the way to rehab, completely blows my mind. We are filing multiple complaints to the department of health in California as well and have our attorney involved just so that no one EVER has to experience such horrific treatment. Totally inhumane. No compassion for a mother who was in pain for her son. Really, really bad is all I can say.
