Short version: It’s an investment in yourself, it works no matter your fitness level, just show up.Longer version: Almost three months into The Fort and it remains a wonderful experience. A few observations to share.1. Don’t be intimidated. Yes, there are some very fit people but there also many more people like me—54 years old, recovering from major ankle surgery, haven’t worked out in a while—who have to work through every exercise. There is *zero* judgement. The coaches and the community are encouraging, positive, and detailed.2. It’s amazingly thoughtful. Alternating between conditioning and strength with a new program every 4 weeks, there is precision and science in the movements and they all build together to have lasting impact.3. You will feel good. The accomplished feeling after completing the workout and having increased energy to go through your day is life-changing. The effects of confidence and focus have carried over into my work life as well.If you are looking for a gym that will provide deep and lasting change in your fitness level and overall health, just show up at The Fort. It works.

Starting my training at The Fort was the best decision Ive made since moving to NYC. The trainers are extremely helpful and friendly, but that doesnt mean they wont push you to your limits and ask you to give more. I look forward to every single training session here. Dan and Kyle have built something very special here - the community and camaraderie are unlike any other gym Ive experienced. Cannot recommend enough.

I’ve tried a variety of workouts and gyms over the years and this has been by far the best. I feel great after each workout and have been able to see progress even after a couple of weeks - I am excited for each class and to track my progress in each program. The small class size is great because you start to get to know everyone there, and all of the trainers have the ability to give you individualized attention. Highly recommend!!!!

If you’ve ever wondered how Hollywood actors completely transform their bodies for superhero roles, The Fort is essentially that. I started less than 4 months ago and last week a stranger asked me if I work in fitness — which I would have taken as sarcasm 4 months ago.The workout programs are fully based in science and the perfect level of challenging intensity. The small group model (never more than 4 in a group) creates accountability and community — much more productive and enjoyable than 1-on-1 personal training in my opinion. The owners and coaches make sure you walk in with a smile and out with a (much sweatier) smile every single session. The only thing I regret is not joining sooner.

The best thing, other than the amazing workouts at The Fort, is the community and support that surrounds it. Everyone is welcoming, kind, and encouraging. Ive tried several gyms/training programs in nyc and The Fort is by far the best experience Ive ever had.

My experience has been nothing but totally amazing since I joined The Fort. Dan, Kyle, Jess, and the other coaches take great care of you and ensure classes will always start on time. There’s a huge presence of professionalism, accountability from the coaches, and comradery amongst the groups you may workout with. I never been to a Strength and Conditioning gym before and joining The Fort changed my approach to working out not only physically but as well mentally. I may have wanted to puke the first day, but after that it made me reflect on my performance and realize I want that challenge in future sessions. Sure you can go to a regular gym to “workout”, but if you want to go to a gym that has structure and various workout themes EVERY month this is the place to check out!

I searched gyms near me after about a year of not going to a gym, and after I had recovered from surgery for 6 weeks. The Fort showed up and peaked my interest, although a semi-private gym was not something I had considered initially. Dan and Kyle and all the coaches are mad cool and helpful. I completed the trial and was hooked. Its intense and you get out what you put in. I have not once shown up to The Fort feeling confident, but I always leave feeling like a badass. I love the team-oriented aspect (and competition) that comes with working out in small groups. Its also great that there are two locations on the same street: one for conditioning and one for strength. Strangely (or, more accurately, predictably), Ive seen improvements in all other areas of my life as well since joining: mental, physical, emotional, academic, professional, you name it. I consider myself self-disciplined, but that self-discipline waned on the daily since last January. Joining the Fort has made me relight that fire and feel it every single day, which is just so cool. Im so grateful.

Ive been training with the Fort virtually since last summer and have had the pleasure of going in person when Ive been in town. The training here is tough, but fun; most importantly, it is highly evidence based, driven by data and expertise, which I appreciate. As such, you get results. While probably more expensive than a traditional gym, if youre serious about training for whatever purposes (for me, it is to make me a better runner and I just like a tough workout!), then this is the place for you. Dan, Kyle, Jess and the other staff care immensely about your workout and it shows. I started with them because I wanted to become a better runner and have found a whole new hobby (lifting!) that I enjoy, too. I guess you could say I also now really love doing burpees, as well. Anyways, I cant say enough good things about them and wish we had one in Nashville (HINT HINT).

I did not know what to expect when I first visited The Fort, but boy am I glad I jumped in. I was made to feel welcome, the space is well equipped, programming is top notch, and the staff are knowledgeable and personable. No regrets here.

This place is the real deal. They mean what they say, you’ll get results ! I came here after months of PT following a spinal injury. The trainers at the fort met me where I was at and were incredibly knowledgeable and motivating! The programming is incredible, based in sound biomechanics and always changing things up to keep things challenging. If your looking to change your body and meet your fitness goals this is the place.

The Fort gym is one of the best gyms in New York City, HANDS DOWN! The coaches know how to actually coach you through the exercises, the structure of the classes is incredible as well as the strength programs you go through! This gym has incredible equipment to use every day to do the strength class or go do conditioning class at the run gym. If your looking for a gym to join to actually see progress & results THIS IS THE ONE! I cant recommend this place enough! Go see for yourself!

The whole team at the fort is top tier! Whether you are a beginner looking to lose a little weight and get fit or a competitive athlete looking to take your fitness to the next level, the fort has you covered . I really love that the entire staff at the fort actually does the same workout that you do each day so you can see where you stand progress wise. In addition, the thoughtful programming changes every month so you really never get bored.

This is a top-notch strength training gym without all the nonsense and up selling of other gyms. I am a cycling enthusiast so I was a little skeptical about strength training, but since starting 6 weeks ago my strength and cycle performance have hit all time highs. The trainers at this gym are amazing (super fit too) and go above and beyond to make sure your form is perfect. I belong to 3 different gyms in the city and The Fort trainers give you personalized attention like nothing I’ve seen before. Also, the staff and members are all super friendly; and the owner is a class act who runs a small business and goes the extra mile to help you hit your goals. Overall, this is the best fitness program in the city without the snobby culture of other major franchises and the place to go if you are looking for results, an amazing workout, and a good time.

I joined the fort in 2016 and my life hasn’t been the same since. I learned how to properly weight train and developed an incredible amount of strength and an entirely new body composition. I lost weight, gained muscle, became a stronger and faster runner and took 15 minutes off my marathon PR time. The quality of people here are hands down like no other and the service is exceptional. The community and high level of expertise is the best of the best and I’m grateful I found a gym that has become a place of fitness and friendship. Now I’m a trainer here and I couldn’t be more honored. You need to check this place out.

I joined The Fort for its community. In the past Ive taken just about every type of workout class you can imagine, have had a gym membership, and splurged on personal trainers. When I say The Fort is unlike any workout I have experienced, truer words could not be spoken.I enjoy lifting weights, but I need the expertise of a professional nor do I have the self discipline to go to a gym and do it myself. The trainers help you perfect your form and push you to show up for yourself. Not only are they the best at what they do, their personalities shine through and show how much they care while having as much fun as possible. Having small classes and seeing the same faces every week makes working out something to look forward to and not something to check off your to do list for the day. I also appreciate that you can be at ANY level and accomplish the same challenging workout.I could keep going on about the vibe, but it wouldnt be a proper review without talking about the results. In just a couple months I already feel myself getting physically and mentally stronger. I am so grateful to Kyle and Dan for creating the space I have been seeking for quite sometime. I am excited to see where Ill be even 6 months from now.If you are looking for a quality, challenging, and uplifting workout without the gimmicks, stop your search because you have found your place.
