I couldnt be happier!! In just the couple of months Ive been working with Fred (just one session per week!), Ive already lost fat, gained muscle, and felt stronger and more confident. He is kind, gentle, and encouraging but also pushes me always to do my best and work my hardest. In addition, Im a person who always gets injured when I exercise, but no longer! Fred is so careful and cautious in his training that Ive never even felt a strain from my workouts. Its almost like physical therapy in many ways!Re: COVID safety concerns: This gym is different than most gyms where you hire a personal trainer because at SlowBurn, you and your trainer are the only ones in the gym (vs being in a gyms with tons of people).I highly recommend trying a session if youre ready for something new that works.

I have been training in slow burn at Fred’s studio for the past 4 years. Fred has created a scientific body building technique which is highly efficient, injury free, requiring no more than 30 minutes one or two times a week, allowing the body to both fatigue and recover according to its natural rhythm. The studio is kept spotlessly clean, the trainers follow Fred’s method meticulously and maintain a log of their client’s progress on each machine so it is clear how one is building strength over months and years.

This is the best experience in my life exercising. While it is hard, it is not very long, so I can handle it. It is very efficient. For me, along with getting stronger, I also completely normalize my cholesterol. The studio is put together with love and everybody is just a delight. And it is perfect for our busy modern life. You can get in and out in your business day, you will not need to shower....on top of that, you will get lots of advice andvrespurces on health, eating, well being. Go for it, guys.

I have been training at Serious Strength for 15 years, because it works better and is easier to stick with than anything else. The gym is always scrupulously clean and cool, and the trainers always make the most of my time. It sounds too good to be true: 30 minutes, no need to shower afterward, and you get noticeably stronger and leaner. But it is ALL true. Its a tough 30 minutes, make no mistake. But if you are serious about the gym, Serious Strength is it.

I have never much liked exercising before. Slow Burn is amazing. I have gotten stronger very quickly. The training is so absorbing that it is not in the least bit boring (a problem I have had with all other kinds of exercise programs). The trainers are great. I have been recommending Slow Burn to all my friends.

I’ve trained with Fred for many years because his slow-burn program works. My weekly 30-minute training sessions have helped me remain in excellent physical shape as I’ve gotten older, an age-defying physicality that my friends often comment on. And I love the fact that at Serious Strength, failure (i.e. muscular fatigue) equals success (i.e. muscular improvement). It is the only thing I’ve ever done in my life where I’m focused on achieving consistent failure.

Ive been doing super-slow HIT (High Intensity Training) for the past 20 years and at 60 I am injury-free, stronger and leaner than when I was 30. I had read Fred Hahns book, and on a recent trip to NYC booked in for a workout. I thought I was an expert but Fred and his team take training to a higher level, with equipment even upgraded to better match the human strength curve and loads of nuances in the way they program clients. I really felt the difference and especially confident that I was in good hands. Finally, its obvious that they go the extra mile in integrating effective nutritional advice with great training advice = better results with less time in the gym. Its also small which I like, as you get the attention you need and feel at home. This is not the gym for those wanting to go do their own thing. Fred would not allow that. Its for people who want a great training outcome from cutting edge training delivered by trainers who understand quality training.

I have been a client at SlowBurn for more than four years and plan to continue indefinitely. A few years ago I started noticing I was getting significantly weaker--the inevitable age related sarcopenia. I was even having trouble standing out of the ski chairlift at the top. I tried going to several gyms but I didnt know what I was doing and the personal trainers werent much help. And it was easy to find an excuse to not go.I bought a few sessions at this studio in a school auction without much intention to even go. But at the orientation session I was hooked. The instructor told me exactly what to expect, discussed my diet, coached my form and calibrated and recorded all the machine settings. I think I have worked with eight trainers since starting and every one of them has been outstanding. They are all certified but more importantly they have been trained by Fred Hahn in the Slow Burn protocol, which provides the most efficient results (this is backed up by peer reviewed studies) with almost no chance of injury. Weight lifted and time under load is recorded and at the next session I almost always exceed one of these metrics even if only by a few seconds or a pound or two. The MedX machines are top of the line and are geared to your motion so there are no sticking points. After wasting so much time and money at previous gyms with no real results I consider the price reasonable and necessary. And because of the intensity of the sessions you do not need to supplement with cardio. Thats built in. You just need to rest up (recover) for the next session.

Serious Strength fixed my lower back, made me strong, and put my on the path to lose 20 lbs and 2 inches off my waist. Ive been going twice a week, for 30 minutes each session. And I can work out there in street clothes.

I have been a client for several years and their philosophy and staff are superb. I have had several medical issues and injuries which would have been worse had I not been training at Serious Strength. In addition, it is the clients health and well being that is most important to Fred and his super staff. I cannot recommend them more highly.

I was a customer there for several years around the turn of the century, and returned when I moved back to NYC. Working out intensely (to the point, sometimes, of being unable to walk for a few minutes afterwards, I was that wiped out) lead to me having the best blood test numbers of my life, despite still having more fat than Id like. (And the fat is decreasing, too.)Workouts are up to twice a week, for a half hour each time; thats all thats required.

I met Fred in the summer of 2010 and got a copy of his book, which introduced me to the Slow Burn protocol. At the risk of waxing hyperbolic, the strength training has changed my life. Im stronger today (and I feel better) at age 38 than I was when I rowed crew at age 18. My success on SB has made me an evangelist for the cause. Plus, Freds a great guy, and hes deeply knowledgable about diet and exercise science. If you do one thing for yourself this year, start training using Freds methods. Youll be glad you did.

Ive been using Serious Strength for years. As a doctor in the neighborhood, Ive tried many different gyms, trainers, and systems to stay in shape. Nothing compares to Serious Strength in terms of value vs. time spent, efficiency, and professionalism. I highly recommend this private gym if you are serious about fitness. It doesnt get any better.Dr. Jamie BlauUpper Westside Chiropractic

Fred, guarantees results... few trainers do that. I recommend Serious Strength for anyone nervous about achieving the results theyre looking for.
