Yes, waiting for the best of NY eye surgeons for glaucoma might be long, but after being treated for this condition successfully for over 40 years, there is no one better in NY. I’ve experienced long waits wherever there is quality eye care; Wills, NY Eye and Ear Infirmary and I understand it takes a long time to negotiate all the specialized photography and measurement exams required to manage your eyes. These highly rated Opthomology Hospitals and Clinics are so much more thorough than most ophthalmologists have access to. Your time is precious , but not anymore so than your eyes! The earlier in the day you book, the sooner you finish. My eye sight has been saved by their thoroughness and from listening to my concerns of retina damage.

Longest I’ve ever had to wait in a doctor’s office and it’s just to check my eyes. They take too many patients at a time (in their huge waiting room that is the first waiting room before they lead you to the second wait room to sit around some more). They do not have the Dr’s and staff to support so many patients. Would not recommend going here unless you have tons of time to wait around.

Had appointment on 03/03/2020. When on location, I filled out the required forms to be seen by ophthalmologist Jeff trokel. Was told to prepay my $25.00 copay usually payed upon service, not before , I asked that it be billed, I forgot my money at home while rushing to make the appointment... Was told I cant be seen without prepaying. The manager is called a chubby female, told me, I must prepay in order to be seen, then proceeded to cancel my appointment without my consent, even though I had a sharp pain in eyes...JEFF TROKEL DOESNT WANT TO SEE ME (because ofThe prepayment) chubby manager asked me to leave,, while calling my insurance regarding my treatment, she called security, then police, for doing nothing more than sitting down making a phone call..... This facility is here only to make money, by refusing me and others to be seen THE OPPOSITE HAPPENS..... Columbia doctors is spending millions to acquire clients to pay these lazy anti patients salaries, they refuse to service their clients TO SATISFY THEIR EGOS, including needy seniors like me. THIS FACILITYS STAFF IS UNPROFESSIONAL, RECKLESS AND CUSTOMER CARE CHALLENGED. I DONT SEE THEIR PRESENCE AS BEING BENEFICIAL TO THEIR INSTITUTION AND PATIENTS.... THEY CANNOT JUSTIFY THEIR GUARANTEED SALARIES.... in any other institutions in these circumstances THEY WILL BE FIRED INCLUDING THE SO CALLED OPHTHALMOLOGIST TROKEL.... This institution is definitely bleeding RED INK.... AS THE REVIEWS INDICATE...SHAME, SHAME, SHAME...SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!!!!

Have nothing to say about quality of medical care except that it is far more expensive than my usual optometrist, but they also did nothing different. Literally nothing except its $500 more. Exact same tests, and I got like 20 min with the doctor. I had made this appointment to ask about a possible specialized procedure two optometrists Id gone to had recommended. And this doctor, ophthalmologist, had never ever HEARD of the procedure.Billing also messed up and kept charging me for a bill I already paid. I called and was rerouted to five departments. The receptionist I finally got through to just told me to disregard the letters and hung up.

My issue with ColumbiaDoctors is with their billing. Today, 9/7/18, I received a statement covering some procedures from my surgery in March while other statements were mailed earlier. The statement from The Harkness Eye Institute was never received by me and referred to a collection agency without so much as a follow-up contact to alert me of payment due. I have never had to deal with a collection agency. The hospitals billing department would not even talk to me. I had the feeling everything is outsourced preventing any kind of Q&A. Dr. Brian Marr was excellent, but what I had to deal with in the aftermath was painful.

I have had four visits with Dr. Blumberg. The first one, I waited for over 3 hours with no attention. I was assured that this was unusual. The second and third visits were good, actually some of the staff were very helpful in sharing multiple bottles of their eyedrop samples. Today I spent 1.45 hours in a chair with the door open, Dr. Blumberg actually walked by me about 10 times, nothing. I split and will not be returning. Nice people if you have a whole day to sit without any attention!
