Dr. Souweidane was very personable and thorough. He explained the details of my daughters condition in laymen terms and left me feeling confident in both his expertise as a neurosurgeon and his concern and care for my daughter as his patient. He was highly regarded by other staff who we encountered, from my pediatrician to the nurse who was by our side after my daughter’s sedated MRI. I would recommend him 1000%!

I am late in writing a review , but my family and I owe Dr. Mark Souweidane, and Dr. Jared Knopman more than a review. He saved my sons life!My son had a life threatening AVM that Mark Souweidane, Dr.Jared Knopman and his team successfully removed. This procedure requires only the best of the best surgeon, and my family, and son are forever thankful that we came across Cornell’s best surgeon! They made the process so straightforward andmy son would have been a ticking time bomb if it weren’t for Dr.Souweidane and Dr. Knopman. We are so so thankful.

I had a great experience with Dr Souweidane and the entire team he has put together. He values the patient experience not just surgical expertise. His expertise as a neurosurgeon is unparalleled in my and other’s opinion. As a physician myself I think I am in a good position to say that. Having brain surgery is if course stress producing but he was excellent at giving me confidence and then following it up with results. If you have an issue that requires a neurosurgeon he will be honest and straightforward about whether he is the right person and whether you are the right candidate .Marshall Steele MD

I found Dr. Souweidane and his team exceptional! I have not been feeling well and wanted a second opinion, for the two (2) benign brain tumors that I was diagnosed with two years ago. He put me at ease, and deftly addressed my concerns. Whew! All of my friends and colleagues had been overwhelming me with predictions of 11 hour surgery for each tumor. This will not be the case!!! We will become re-acquainted in a year when he wants me to have an MRI. I am quite appreciative of the staff that assisted me in the process of enrolling me as a patient as well-is assisting is obtaining all of my radiology reports! Dr. Souweidane is a gift to neurosurgery-I felt like I was talking to the All American boy next door!

Dr Souweidanes office is very easy to work with and always helpful. I had a phone consult with the Dr and he was prompt, courteous and very responsive. I have not had the pleasure of meeting him (yet) but I am confident that he is exceptional at what he does. Although I hope I never need his help, if I do, it is reassuring to know that the very best person is on the right side of the blade! A pioneer in his craft and well-respected by his peers, Dr Souweidanes excellent reputation precedes him.

Dr. Souweidane is an amazing doctor and a highly skilled surgeon. He is extremely personable, takes time to explain things clearly, and engenders complete confidence. His skill as a surgeon is absolutely top-notch. He performed an endoscopic resection of a colloid cyst from my third ventricle. The operation was flawless, the recovery amazingly short, and I felt fantastic from about 12 hours post-surgery. And now, three months later, it is as if nothing ever happened. I barely have a scar at all, I feel and function great, and the relief in knowing that I no longer have such a dangerous thing growing in my brain is truly indescribable. I cant recommend Dr. Souweidane enough!

I had surgery done when I was very young about 6 months old. My parents freaked out to put the life of me in his hands. The first surgery was very successful and when we had to get another he remembered my parents and me. I have vague memories of him but all my parents say I could have died no other hospital or doctor would take me but he did. He single handedly saved my life two times. My parents told me he had a great personality when times were tough he cheered my parents up

The Miracle On 68th street.Dr. Mark Souweidaine saved my sons life. After 2 unsuccessful tumor resections & over a dozen shunt revision we finally decided to change doctors. Luckily we found Dr.Souweidane through recommendations of friends. Dr.Mark is miracle worker, not only is he one of the most experienced in complicated brain tumors, he has a wonderful bedside manner. His confidence, talent, & skill made the best out of a parents worse nightmare. My son had a JPA tumor in the cerebellum & partially connected to brain stem. He also has hydrocephalus & a shunt. Dr.Mark was able to get a complete resection. Recovery at Weil Cornell was fast & under the circumstances easy on my son & family. The best doctor & hospital, Highly recommended.A life saver, I trust him completely.

I saw Dr. Mark Souweidane as a follow up to my daughter’s stay in the ICU after a serious fall. She broken bones in her face and had some bleeding in her brain. He immediately put me at ease, explained her current condition and answered ALL of my questions. Instead of ordering more tests and passing me off to yet another specialist, he explained what the advantages and disadvantages would be and let me make an informed decision about possible next steps. He was friendly and personable as well.

Clearly he has the skills. But in my opinion hes a bit of a cherry-picker. Hes not willing to take a patient if he thinks doing so would present a risk to his own well-insured career. Even if making that choice could cause someone to die. And that seemingly doesnt bother him. Think about that a bit.Dont get me wrong; go with him if youve got a kid in trouble. But dont be naïve about what youre actually getting. All that glitters is not gold. Hell be right in your corner all the way through, right up to the point where hes not. And thats the sort of thing that gets people killed. And frankly? It also speaks to character.

I was lucky to find Dr. S.The procedure to remove my brain growth is typically via craniotomy (long surgery, longer recovery) But thanks to Dr S and his focus on unusual growths it was removed via endoscope. I was discharged from the hospital less than 36 hours after my surgery began. He made the scariest time of my life much easier. My wife and kids are even more appreciative for Dr S than I. Im very thankful for him.Note: when my wife asked a neurosurgeon at another prestigious hospital if hes removed these growths before, his response was I can do itAnd when asked if Id be better off with craniotomy or endoscopy he was unsure. Seemed like that dr. wanted to train in me. But Dr S seemed to truly care.
