The team at Comforcare was immediately responsive and reassuring and put us at ease. They worked quickly to establish a careful care plan that would meet our mother’s needs while supporting her autonomy and dignity. They helped identify very skilled, nurturing, and sophisticated companions that brought immense ease and calm to my mom and our family’s lives during an otherwise very turbulent transition. Kyle and Larisa went above and beyond to address some complex challenges as our mom’s condition worsened over the course of 2-3 years. They were diligent, reliable, and deeply kind. When my brother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 64 it was our family’s goal to maintain his engagement with all the things he loved - art, music, nature. Through ComForCare we found companions that encouraged all of these interests - going to the latest museum exhibits, concerts at Lincoln Center, hours spent in the park bird watching.Over the course of four years we were lucky to work with four exceptional individuals who each brought care, compassion and empathy to their time with my brother. Most had backgrounds in the arts and that creativity brought joy into his life.When my brother’s condition began to deteriorate the staff at ComeForCare was able to provide the resources to help us assess the next steps in his care. Their guidance felt like an informed family member with the knowledge and experience to move us in the right direction. We will be forever grateful.

We have had a wonderful experience with ComForCare. My parents are choosing to age in place, and the people who care for them are so special and make this not only possible, but positive. We have two people come, each for 4 hours, 2-3 times a week, and they are incredibly kind, engaging, motivating women. My father is physically fragile, my mothers memory is deteriorating, and they help keep their lives active both mentally and physically. I live across the country and feel so lucky that my parents are getting such care. I enjoy talking with the care givers too on my own as well. When there have been emergencies, the agency is on top of calling to let me and my sister know. I feel like coordination can be so hard with different care givers, but ComforCare makes it feel less so.

ComForCare entered our lives at a difficult point, as I’m sure it does for so many people. Our father had recently died and our mother was showing a concerning cognitive decline. We needed help. But my mother, a fiercely independent, born-and-bred New Yorker, was resistant. We tried a couple of home care options that didn’t work out. With each failed attempt, my mother was becoming more and more critical of the idea. Then our wonderful care manager Nancy Avitable suggested ComForCare, explaining to us that it was an agency set up for our exact needs. The great team at ComForCare set us up with several great options and my mother immediately chose a young man who became a real saving grace for our family. Nick supported my mother’s independence with grace and good humor. Nick kept my mother engaged and vibrant and provided an anchor that she had been missing since my father’s death. He genuinely understood her, and that was a great gift to her and to us.

I have used ComForCare companions for my mom, who has dementia, for around two years now. My mom can be difficult, but the companions they have found for me have all been deeply caring, attentive and understanding. It has truly been life-changing, for me, knowing that shes in good hands when I cant be there.

I’m always impressed with how ComForCare found smart, caring, personable companions who shared many similar likes with my wife. ComForCare was also able to keep up with my inconsistent scheduling needs. Their companions were prompt, intelligent and charming.

My parents live in an independent living arrangement. The downside to that is when you need help, you are on your own to get it. The facility does not provide it. My father is 99 and my mother is 92. They both have a moderate degree of age-related dementia with increasing cognitive dysfunction.Several years ago, our care manager suggested contacting Comforcare for aides/social companions. My parents needed someone to help keep their brains engaged as well as assist with things like grocery shopping and meal preparation.Comforcare has provided the absolutely perfect companions for them. The companions provide every service that a traditional aide would, but they go way beyond the basics. Yes, they prepare meals, keep an eye on medications, go grocery shopping, arrange and go to medical appointments, accompany them to activities, etc.Most importantly, they do their best to keep my parents engaged and mentally stimulated.As an example, one of the companions is always sharing videos, movies, articles with them. She encourages them to actively participate in discussions about whatever they are doing together. She also encourages them to share stories with her about their younger days. Her patience and kindnesses is extraordinary. Another one of their companions has 20 years of special education teaching experience as well as her own aging parents. There is nothing that can faze her. She too, is extraordinarily patient with them, as well as genuinely interested in them as people. Both of these women give 110% of themselves each time they are with my parents.I cannot even begin to say how critical ComforCare has been during the past year and half. The facility that they live in had been locked down to all visitors (including family) since the beginning of the pandemic. These companion/aides have been their only source of companionship and engagement. They have literally been responsible for keeping them healthy and alert for the past year and a half.

My mom is a true New Yorker, always was and always will be. When she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s many things started to blur, aside for her love for the city and deep routed memory of her upper east side neighborhood, Central Park, the theater, etc. At the time, Covid had shut down most of the world and no where was safe, especially nursing homes. Thankfully, a close friend of my mother’s referred me to ComforCare and their amazing team of caring professionals. Not only did the companions assigned keep my mother in the apartment and city that she loved, but they kept her engaged, safe and Covid-free. I recommend ComforCare to anyone seeking a hybrid between an aide and a friend.

Since 2017, ComForCare has provided my 93-year-old Aunt with male aides who are so helpful, kind, and caring that she is thoroughly enjoying these last years of her life. I feel extremely lucky that I found ComForCare!

I worked for this company and they are very unprofessional. They talk badly about their clients behind their backs. They take years to assign you to a case. They will take you off the schedule without you even knowing. The communication is horrible, and overall they are a horrible company.
