I am very lucky to be under the care of Dr. Gelbman .She is extremely thorough, knowledgeable , a good listener, and kindhearted on top of it. It’s rare to find someone so smart and compassionate at the same time.

I highly recommend Dr. Gelbman in every way. She is thoughtful, reviews your chart before you see her (whether in person or on video), and listens patiently while you update her with whatever youre seeing/talking to her about. She has helpful suggestions, and if more lab tests or other cardiac interventions are a good idea, she will say so, but she does not push this on you (unless its an emergency, which has not been the case with me).

Dr. Gelbman is a very qualified Cardiologist in practice at NYPres. We recently returned to our NYC neighborhood needing to re-establish specialty heart (Cardiologist) care. Dr. Gelbman scheduled a one-hour consultation to review my extensive medical history. My appointment went very well. There was only one other person in the waiting room when I arrived, and I had a very short wait before I was seen by DR. Gelbman. The doctor was very pleasant and professional and remembered me from my previous visits. All of the staff were very nice and helpful. Everyone was wearing masks and everything was very clean. Most of the seats in the waiting room were taped off so there was plenty of space between the available seats.

The virtual appointment was very comfortable. We covered a lot of ground. I did not need new bloodwork so that consideration was not relevant.

Shared visit over video. Prefer on site visits as they allow for more immediate testing. Dr. Gelbman and I established a plan to do bloodwork at a lab in my neighborhood. She immediately sent prescriptions, and I will arrange tests at the local lab. Dr. Gelbman and I discussed forwarding results to all relevant Providers. This is all a good and clear track. Dr. Gelbman has been my Cardiologist for about ten years. She has my complete confidence. While I miss the one on one appointments, I am satisfied to continue this way until the world starts cooperating.

I would not recommend this doctor. Shes cold and distant and impossible to have relationship with. Too worried about maintaining some mythical doctor position to be effective. As for her medical abilities, I suppose shes competent enough, but without the other qualities, a poor choice for a doctor. I gave the third star by accident.

Ive been seeing Dr. Gelbman for about seven years now . In the beginning I was a little difficult and not exactly compliant with having to take so may medications for my condition. After experiencing my 3rd and 4th heart attack (when I tried to go natural )I accepted my fate of having to take medications like my life depended on it. Which it did. I let go of the mental stigma and opted to take the meds for a better quality of life. ( BTW She disagreed with my decision to go natural, but respected my decision, and even helped me figure out how to do so.!).After I went back on all the medications, There were actually two additional medications which I suggested, and she prescribes for me now. Thats my only qualm, that as the patient I had to take the initiative and do extensive research, when I dont have the medical foundation of a doctor, yet I feel like all patients should do this. I might have to get a second opinion about my medication regimen to double check. Apart from that, shes a very caring and sweet doctor. Shes down to earth and very likable. She makes me feel heard, which is very important in a doctor. Whenever I had a complaint about a certain medication she lowered the dose or switched the medication without any hassle. She did this until we found something that worked.I wish she could do more about my chest pain, but, as she said , it may be something I just have to live with, or something my pain doctor can help me with. Ive also requested.that perhaps being part of a clinical trial.may be beneficial to me ... Im yet to hear about that. In all, I have a comfortable relationship with her and Im grateful for.that. I would definitely recommend her to others. Dr. Gelbman is great and so is the facility. Shes always punctual and I never feel rushed. This is a doctor that spends the time to get to know me, and is interested in my personal endeavors. She takes her time with me and shes very gentle and genuinely cares!
