Bumble and Bumble is where the pros come when they want to up their game.How do I know this?Back when I was younger, I worked at the front counter at a high end salon when I lived in Washington DC.And every year, hed take his best stylists and colorists up to NY so they could train at B&B.Needless to say, the staff there is some of the best in the business.Despite this, I myself had never went to B&B to get a haircut. I finally did. Joey was amazing, Definitely going back.Yes youll spend more money than the typical salon--well at least for a guy. But I compare a good haircut to cheap plastic surgery. And its a hell of a lot less invasive. lol

Ive never left a negative review for a business before because I’ve fortunately never experienced what I did today. I didn’t want to leave a review but I feel obligated to help others from being mislead about the capabilities of the stylists that work here.I found out about this salon online as it was listed as one of the ‘The 9 Best Curly Hair Salons in NYC.’ Having natural type 3C-4A hair, I attempted to do all necessary research into the salon and first called to ensure stylists could work with my hair type. I was reassured on the phone that the stylists were not only experienced but comfortable working with curly hair, but this was revealed to be a clear lie.When I arrived at the salon today my stylist, who apprehensively looked at my natural hair, proceeded to ask what styling tools past stylists have used on me. Although it wasn’t yet, it became abundantly clear the stylists that worked on my hair have never touched natural 3C hair before and made, what were to me, obvious error after error when attempting to style my hair.As my hair was being rinsed, one stylist began raking through my hair (from the roots to the ends), with a paddle brush, causing my hair to loose all curl pattern and become extremely poofy. After noticing what was happening I had to interrupt her and tell her that you can’t detangle natural hair with paddle brushes. It was at this moment that I should have left, but I believed the stylist that was going to heat style my hair would do a better job…My main stylist first attempted to blow dry my hair with a thin-bristled wire brush meant for fine hair. I had to correct her and explain that a wide-bristled brush would work better. I found myself continually correcting the stylist throughout my time in the chair.“If you detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb instead of a paddle brush my hair wouldn’t knot and would be a lot easier to work with,” I had to tell her. “Could you detangle from the bottom-up,” I had to ask. These were clearly amateurish mistakes being made by the stylist, making my sense of unease continue to increase throughout this point.Finally, the stylist continued to use the blow-dryer and flat iron repeatedly and slowly over the same sections, clearly confused as to why my hair was not straight enough.I completely understand that stylists have limitations, that beauty school more often neglects to teach hair stylists how to care for natural hair, and that styling curly hair can be extremely laborious. However, if a stylist at any point had just informed me that they were not familiar with styling natural hair, I would have understood and promptly left.I was charged $209 for what was an extremely stressful experience, and poofy, heat-damaged hair. The cherry on top was not being informed that a trim/cut would be an extra charge of $80+.My hair is the worst it’s ever looked after leaving the salon and Ive never spent anywhere near $200. At this salon I was made to feel at fault for daring to have natural curly hair and for giving the inexperienced stylists a hard time. The last thing my stylist told me was to book a double-appointment because my hair took her too long to do. I’m extremely disappointed and mad at myself for not having the courage to leave out of fear of making my stylist feel bad and for causing a scene, however, I am well aware that this is the clear action I should have taken.I’d really like my money back for being misinformed and hurt by this salon, however, I’m doubtful that I’ll receive it. Instead, I’ll warn other naturals about making the mistake I did.Please, do not come to this salon!(Image below was taken just after stylist finished my hair while I was still in the salon)

I called Bumble and bumble to see if I could get a same day appointment, and they were able to accommodate me. They even offered to check times for the other salon in the city if none of the available times with them fit my schedule.Going in, I had hair that was down to my hips and wanted to cut off a significant amount of length. I was nervous, especially since I was going to be using a new stylist for such a major change. Todor was AMAZING. I love everything he did with my hair. His work made me so happy I wanted to give him a hug.There was a complimentary coat check available and dressing rooms if you wanted some privacy. Everyone was so warm and kind and happy to help. All of the Bb products are available to purchase as well. My stylist gave me a sheet of all the products and indicated what would be best for my hair.I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bumble and bumble

I am going to keep it short and sweet. Alex was great! I came in as a hair model and I felt very welcomed by her bubbly personality and she is very passionate in what she does. During my hair wash the massage was heavenly! I had a razor technique done on my hair and the result was fabulous! Ivan (Apologize in advance if I spelled your wrong!) was supervising and he was very sweet and had an eagle eye for style. He made sure everything went well. Thank you for giving me a chance to be your model! Anyone who will have their hair done with Alex or Ivan will have a wonderful experience!P.S. Maybe this isnt short after all but they deserve all the praises I can give!

Feel fantastic, look fantastic. Grato is a genius. He is literally a masterful artist who knows just what to do to being the right colours out in your hair. And he gave me a lovely frothy cappuccino...twice. Easy to work with, warm, effusive, empathetic and a maestro at what he does.From walking in to the shampoo, styling, Gratos shining the hair, to the blow dry. My hair was treated so gently. As opposed to another salon across the road where it was pulled till my head aches and sharp fingers nails were clumsily hot in my face during the blow dry. Bumble and Bumble is an experience. And its generally an experience one can trust.

I visited the salon a couple of times and each time had the hair cut done with Blake. She is amazing, as confirmed by the attached photos. I wish I could live closer to New York ... Never had problems to get an appointment, even upon a short notice. Thank you Bumble & Bumble, youre great!

Handsome but not what he wanted. We asked for a very specific haircut for my boyfriend and they did not do what we asked. It looks conventional, but again not what we asked for. Very disappointed.

Stylists with big attitude unprofessional; extremely corporate environment and everyone has an ego. They couldn’t get my blonde color right

This Company is TERRIBLE! The charged my credit card for $36 and I didn’t even order anything. They never even sent me any product. I called to ask them about it and they said the charge would “fall off”. It never did so I called again and asked if they could at least just send me the product and they said they would and they never did that either. I tried to give them chances to make this right and they never would. They are frauds and dishonest.

Going to b&b is always a fantastic experience. Its definitely changed under covid safety procedures but they are taking all necessary precautions to make sure we are all safe. Im happy youre open!!

Way overpriced!!! Took nearly four hours to do a simple grey root touch up and trim. Walked out of there with a $440 bill AND then needed to tip two different stylists. On top of all that had to leave with wet hair because it took so long I was late for an appointment. I also found dye remnants on my head the next day. Very expensive and really terrible experience overall.

Had a terrible experience here last week. I was booked in for a cut and color and they did my color and then sent me downstairs to have my haircut. I was sitting with soaking wet hair for almost and hour and asked them how long it would be because I had to go to work. They said I had been mis-booked and that it would be roughly 15 minutes. After about half an hour I explained that I only had time to have my hair dried because I cant be late for work ( I am a doctor working emergency.) They were not apologetic and seemed to just want to chat and socialise. Finally they got to at least drying my hair and I realised that my hair was much darker than I had asked for, I had requested a medium chestnut and showed a pictures and it was almost black. I explained that the woman upstair had barely checked my color and did not seem engaged at all. They blow dried my hair and said that I could have it fixed in 2 weeks, which is a long time to have hair you hate. In addition to this, the blow out was worse than I would have done at home.They booked me in for an appointment 2 weeks later to fix my hair and then charged me for a blow out that I would not have needed to pay for if they had of been more organised to made time to have my hair cut.They then called me a few days later cancelling the re-color and cut with not apology..Do yourself a favour and go to Warren Tricomi.

I got my hair cut by Blake, and I loved it!! Everything about the experience was wonderful from the ambiance to the front desk to the waiting area. This is the first cut of my adult life that Ive loved, have been able to style easily myself, and actually makes sense for my hair type. I really recommend this place. Prices are high everywhere in NYC, but here the quality is worth it. Do yourself a favor and get your hair cut here.

The place is amazing and the staff is very friendly and polite. Everyone is really professional yet you feel a close connection to the person cutting your hair. They care about you and your hair and focus on giving you the best experience. I got one of my best haircuts at this place.

Had my hair cut by Randy last night; very disappointing. I asked the person taking my reservation who was good at short haircuts and thats who they recommended. I brought photos to show her what I wanted and I still came out with an institutional like cut. The shop is more about selling products than giving good hair cuts. Pricey too.

I love this salon. I had been going pretty regularly for haircuts over the past few years, but then made the mistake of going elsewhere for convenience. I went in this week with an awful cut full of uneven layers, and saw Mia, who managed to give me a great, easy to style cut that I absolutely love (even after letting it air dry, which is my go to “styling” method). OK!!! Lets start with the front desk ,wish I knew his name, a man with a accent was so warm and friendly at check in. The place was clean and stylish.Now on too the hair cuts with Spencer.....Oh! Spencer,what a cut he gave to my daughter it was so sleek and beautiful !My son is 15 and picky ! All I can say is my son was smiling from hear to hear ,after his cut with Spencer.We drove 2 1/2 hours for Spencers haircut!His patience and careful technique was a pleasure to watch.The aura of the entire staff was a breath of fresh air! I would go there for Color and a Blow dry ! For sure..too!

I have been seeing Blake for over two and a half years now, and let me tell you she has that special touch. Each cut is better than the last and the first was my best cut ever! I wont see anyone else for as long as I live.

This salon is a hidden gem of midtown east. It’s located on 56th street between Lexington and 3rd Avenue. I’ve gotten my haircut at this salon 3 different times and each time I’ve had a different stylist. Each time however, I have been very pleased with my haircut. I’ve received many compliments on my hair after each cut.

Marc Anthony gave me the best cut I’ve had in years. Took time to ask me questions about what I wanted to do with my hair and what I wanted from a cut. Great guy as well; very easy chat in the chair and even recommended a new jazz band to listen to. Makes the price very worth it. Will be returning.

Sandra is phenomenal. Knows her way with the razor and has a good grasp of symmetry. Love my cut. Yolanda does a nice shampoo and head massage too.

This place is awesome. Service is wonderful. Full coffee bar...complete with speciality milks, which I was very happy about! Janice does my colour and she is a great listener. They have consultations before they even start touching your hair just to figure out exactly what you want. Carrie did my cut and was exactly like the picture I showed her. Price is a little high for my liking, but its worth it. Even the making the appointment on the phone is pleasant.

My first visit was as expected, new salon, new stylist. Got highlights and a trim. Anastasia did my highlights. She was very nice and answered all my questions. Super sweet and tried to accommodate all my requests. I will go back for highlights.

I came in as a hair model and had my hair cut by Briana. She did a great job taking some legnth off and turned it into a shoulder length Bob. My head felt so good and light. I love the cut. Best of all its free. So a good tip would be greatly appreciated.

I have kitty she did a horrible work, I was looking for light brown color and she ask me to add a few high light to make my hair lighter, but unfortunately she done my hair in a crazy way. She put a lot of copper color high light and make them like a street shape. Also, she made the beginning of my hair with the copper high light. Then she put a dark color in the rest of my hair, which is turned my black hair to more darker. When she finished, she said wow amazing. When I looked to the mirror, I shocked. I look like an old witch. It was the worst color of my life. I paid $ 500 to fix the color in another salon. After all of that the color still not that good, and I lost my healthy shiny hair.

YES! Its pricey, but worth it for me. Randy does great cuts and Gia does the best color. When I mentioned the roots where darker than I anticipated, she went back and washed out the toner. Very caring and accommodating ❤️

Go if you are willing to not complain about the result. If you do they will humiliate you. I went to have a single process with Janice and I was not happy with the result because the highlights around my face were covered. I requested a do over and I was told that they could do it in a week. Since I was going on a trip I requested an earlier appointment. Long story short, after several days of back and forth I was told that Janice was not happy with the situation and that If I went with another colorist she would not see me again. I was speechless and said I did not understand how it could be personal to a colorist. A rude receptionist called Michael said that I did not want to get it into my head that Janice was upset. It is the most absurd experience I have ever encounter at a hair salon. I am an HR Manager myself, and can say that they really need new management and costumer service training.

Do not go there. Really bad experience, too much merchandising for what it is. I did balayage there, they did a weird technique on my hair putting the color all over, everything too fast, with any conditioner for the hair damage cause of the high lighted hair, also they charge you if you want to dry your hair, ridiculous. Also you have to dry it yourself. My hair was melting cause of the damage they did to me, I was so mad, besides some of the personal gave me attitude. I wasted $450 there, to ruin my hair. Please avoid this place.

Really bad customer service. I called in to let my hair cutter know I would be like 1-4 minutes late for my appointment. I said Id be there by 9:20. I was informed by Kaya that I only had until 9:15. She was going to see if I could still come and hung up on me. I called back and she said that she would call me back if there was a problem, in addition she informed me that their calls were recorded. So here are a few problems.1). She hung up on me.2). They do not inform callers that calls can be recorded which is against the FCC Federal Law to record calls without telling the public.3). I show up 1 minute late and they refuse to see me. Offer me someone else to cut my hair. Why in the world would I make an appt with someone only to have someone else cut my hair.Oh well now I know I can save $130 a month I waste at that place by going back to my amazing old barber.And yes I was very disgruntled when I left and let them know they are breaking the Federal law by recording calls.

In 2007 I got a booking with Ruby who was junior back then that was specialising on curly wavy hair. I went for 2 years with her. I moved to London, and in 5 years I couldnt find anyone who does to my hair what she used to do! I called her to see if she was still there; she is but she is not a Junior any more, she is worth every penny! Definitley if you are curly or you have difficult wavy her book with her! In fact I am going back today!
