I had chronic vertigo. For months and months.I saw many doctors and nothing helped. Two friends of mine recommended Harlem Chi Community Acupuncture. They both had the problem is completely resolved. Sciatica, Headaches. Initially I booked three sessions per week. My vertigo symptoms have resolved in 7 sessions. I am thrilled and super relieved. The practitioners Joanne, and Dianna are fantastic.

I have endometriosis in my femoral and sciatic nerves; this causes cyclical nerve pain in both legs most months mid-cycle. After two endometriosis surgeries, my actual cycles are much better but the leg pain was getting worse. Oxycodone was the only medication that would touch the pain and I didnt want to need that every month. I came to see Johanne in the middle of a flareup in mid-July and I left that session with much less pain. I continued to come for weekly sessions. The next month when the pain arrived the flareup was much shorter (3 days down from 12) and the pain levels stayed mangeable. So far the pain hasnt come back but I know if it does I can come in for a session that will work much more quickly and effectively than popping a pill. Johanne is amazing; we are now working on long term hormonal balance. I get very anxious before my sessions as my treatment points are very sensitive and the needles sometimes hurt. Joanne is very compassionate and always helps me breathe through it and I know that Im in good hands.

I am so grateful to have found Harlem Chi. I thought about acupuncture many times through the years but never made any real effort to try it. That was until I started having body aches and pain. From my wrist to my back to my shoulder and neck -- the pains just got worse. A trusted friend --who gets acupuncture treatments-- suggested I try it and this time I listened. He actually suggested Harlem Chi because I live in Harlem. I am really happy he did.Starting with my very first session I felt relief pretty much immediately. The only that has ever relieve my pain in this way is powerful pain medication.I am thrilled that I now have a new way to treat my ailments without medication.I go on a sorta regular basis and it is always a wonderful experience.Joanne is amazing! She really listens, is effective and thorough and I feel completely comfortable. The space is tranquil, the location is easy to get to and find.I highly recommend Harlem Chi. I believe you will be glad that you did. It is amazing how much better I feel after my acupuncture sessions.Again I am very grateful and thank Joanne and Harlem Chi for helping me get my life and body back to normal.RC

I was dealing with painful Plantar Fasciitis for 8 months. I came to Harlem Chi and met with Johanne, realized that I knew her previously from training at a local gym, this was my first time experiencing accupuncture so, I felt immediately at peace. Long story short. After one session with her, all of the pain was gone the following week and has not returned. Ive told quite a few of my friends about Harlem Chi, they have visited HC and they all loved their experiences there. Harlem Chi is a true blessing to us all.Peace and Love

Truly magical. Took my pain away that the $400 chiropractor visit couldn’t do, in just 2 visits. I had excruciating lower back pain and I couldn’t walk. I was initially looking for a place downtown with high reviews and I’m so happy that i didn’t and came here instead. I cannot say enough good things. I am taking my dad today for his depression and urinary issues that he has had for over 5years. I’ll come back and report on that. :)

Fantastic!I was on my way to LGA for a flight, with some time to kill -- when what did I see but a street sign for acupuncture. I could go for some acupuncture, I thought, and so I did, then and there. And, I didnt regret it, for my experience was superb. Not only was I taken on-the-spot, literally from off the street, but my therapist was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable (and she obliged my request for some specific points). Afterward, I came away with a good treatment in a therapeutically clean and relaxing environment, and all for a reasonable price. Now, I have a new pre-flight ritual, I think.A big thank-you to everyone at this clinic. Keep up the good work :)

I simply cannot sing Johanne’s praises and thank-yous highly enough. She has taken care of me through very frustrating, challenging, multifaceted, chronic illness...through the worst of it...even when my moods aren’t good... she has even helped me avoid coming down with this or that bout of things. She has helped so many of us afford consistent care. She has refused to charge me for large chunks of her precious time. The herbs she gives have been obviously helpful at least 80/90% of the time (despite the difficult to treat highly variable patterns inherent to Lyme/chronic fatigue...). She correctly guessed the Epstein-Barr viral component—then also helped encourage me to get reevaluated medically—after many years of discouraging medical experiences (both at walk-ins and by my former doctor who I later found out was writing me off as “anxious”??!) Johannes is virtually the only place I can walk in and be ~certain that when I walk out—the aching-all-over or fatigue or feverishness or cramping and pulling or all of the above will calm down. Her needling is so “on point” I can often instantly feel it in distal but referred/related parts of my body (eg, foot points in the head or torso, or arm/wrist points thru my back/leg...). She has spent cumulatively HOuRS calmly explaining and elucidating TCM for me (yes, after all these years I’m a student too...). She’s often been the ONE person that in my most run-down, estranged from myself moments—the ones ~no one even best intentioned friends understand?—who I can depend on to see (better than me!) where I’m at; for me to not feel alone at my literally weakest moments. She’s helped to ground me—both w the needling and sometimes just w her very presence (esp since I come so late so often...). But above all? She has given me hope—and a raw, un-sugar coated kick in the butt of reality that has already helped immensely to guide my healing/life. I may be a science geek, but ultimately the life we live is our medicine, and all medicine is soul medicine. Johanne lives this—patiently, devotedly—every day. She is nothing less than a community treasure.

Lovely space that is conveniently located. Johanne has worked wonders controlling my allergies. I work in healthcare and even I was not aware of the many applications for acupuncture outside of pain control until I went to Harlem Chi. Im pleased--Im about results.
