My cardiologist and his staff are top notch. Dr Ali, Suzanne, Ryan, keisha and Especially Nick don’t come any better. I’ve been using the VA since 1983 (when it was in the old building on Tulane and my god it’s gone from night to day. They are so attentive and make me feel like I am literally the most important person their, and that is truly saying a lot during a time when all hospitals are way under staffed and critically over worked. I suffer from agoraphobia, severe anxiety issues and panic attacks and just seeing Nick and his few kind words makes me feel better as well as brings down my anxiety levels. I swear if I knew for sure there was some sort of prize/ employee of the month or year I’d campaign to see the Nick in the cardiology dept gets it. The man is a natural at his job and highly deserves praise. 👍👍👍😊🙃

They keep sending my father home and we keep bringing him back to the ER. We’ve lost all faith that this establishment can communicate effectively internally. The doctors physically see you for about 2 minutes / day, look at the charts, and think they know what kind of condition you’re in. They send students to do operations (leaving the threads from stitches hanging out by an inch, or permanently disfiguring you—yes both real examples that my father has suffered at the hands of the VA in NOLA.We brought him back to the ER FOR THE FIFTH TIME this month, last night, after challenging the doctor’s order to release him from the hospital for hours. We went back and forth with the intern (first we were told it would be the urologist coming to see him, they never showed up, then it was the medicine dr who was supposed to come, and he never showed up either) for hours about how he’s not ready to leave the hospital. Sure enough, 2 days later HE’S BACK IN THE ER. JUST LIKE I TOLD THE INTERN HE WOULD BE.We are QUICKLY losing confidence that this hospital has any real value. Now they want a robot to remove his prostate, and my family is scared they’re going to kill him, after all the neglectful (lack of) care they provided before.Oh and now the main phone number is down — THE *ONLY* PHONE NUMBER PROVIDED. So I can’t reach anyone at the hospital. But it’s not like we could before because when you ask to reach your doctor, THEY SAY “OK,” THEN SEND YOU YO A NATIONAL CALL CENTER, WHO SENDS THE DOCTOR AN ALERT—HA! They don’t get back to you for 10-24 hours. Classic federal govt BS. We’re sick of this place and these people, and frankly, we’re disgusted that they can treat a Vietnam veteran this way. We will be calling the patient advocate at the White House today!

I am currently admitted to The Veterans Hospital New Orleans. My nurses are first rate, and provide excellent care.I have a private room with a view of Canal Street Street Car LineThe Food is as good as any restaurant. Or better. I really cant say enough about the food.No fewer than six doctors have visited me every day. They answer all of my questions, and keep me informed of my plan of care.Thank You VA for taking such good care of this old Vet.My cardiac surgery is tomorrow. Leaving this review now, . . . This is the most modern VA Ive ever been to. The staff was so friendly and so very helpful. I was so pleased with this experience . It is a huge place that takes up 4 square blocks in downtown New Orleans. A very wonderful overall experience. I would go again anytime.

I was apart of this hospital while it transitioning to this current location and it’s such an upgrade. My primary doctor (I was notified that she left SE va system while being out here in Houston) was the best!! I loved my primary, my nurses, front desk, and most of the staff in this VA. Unfortunately I moved away 3 years ago but I’m planning on moving back soon. I had grown on them and they grew on me, I dreaded leaving because I received such great medical care. As a Veteran, I definitely recommend their services.

I have to say with all the nightmares of the past and long waiting, along with rude workers, not Doctors by the way, Ive gone twice and had no wait at all. Once was in the morning on a Monday. I would add to that when I called the number to get primary care the guy who answered the phone was extremely rude and just transferred me without saying hold on. I was still talking and was going to say thanks. I could tell hes done this many times. He seemed aggravated like I was bothering him. There is also not one picture of the President on the wall that I saw. Another experience was primary care. The head doctor was incredibly comforting and she was born to help Vets.

Ive had great experiences here at the VA in New Orleans. My primary clinic is the Womens Clinic and Dr. Burton is the absolute best!! Ive also had great experiences when Ive been sent out to other clinics. Dental is fabulous, sleep clinic folks are loving and caring, the eye clinic is top of the line and the lab is top notch as well. The Acute Care walk-in clinic has always taken great care of me. I honestly have nothing but good to say about this VA Hospital. Director Rivera is doing a great job. Oh and btw the cafeteria is super good too. Thanks guys.

The sheer incompetence with which this place is run is staggering. Yeah, theyve got a pretty new building, but that doesnt fix the 6-month waits to see a physician, hour and a half waits to fill a prescription, and running out of medications and failing to mail them on time with zero communication on the delay. I feel fortunate that I have decent private insurance to use to get treatment for any serious life-threatening conditions. If I were depending on the VA, I would have been dead by now.The Baton Rouge and Dallas shooters (both of whom were veterans) said the same thing. They both said that they could not get any help from the VA. After begging these people for help, they then went on to commit heinous crimes. You would think that, with such serious incidents happening so close to the New Orleans VA and with there being 3 veterans a day committing suicide, that there would be more of an effort to improve the system. Unfortunately, that is obviously not the case.
