I am not impressed at all with the unprofessionalism and shortness of dialogue, when attempting to reach out and get a status update on my family member. Nurse Janelle is very rude and is not a good example when it comes to the occupation and profession of Nursing. She rushes you off the phone, and lacks professionalism.

As a group home house manager Beacon is always available to assist me with my clients that are suffering with a mental health crisis. The intake process to have my clients admitted is very smooth and efficient. The clients I have helped get admitted have been released and stable enough to go back to live in the community. The social workers, doctors, intake coordinators do an awesome job in helping my clients get through there mental health crisis. The support they give my clients while admitted is outstanding as well as the aftercare upon discharge. Its great to have such an amazing hospital that is there to serve the mentally ill population.

I had a family member in this facility for 8 days. This facility is run worse than a prison system. The patients are stripped of their dignity, their rights and freedoms. I understand that these patients need intervention but they do not deserve the way they are treated here. People come here who are broken, depressed, suicidal, or having some kind of psychological breakdown. The facility looks like a prison or terribly run nursing home. The windows have bars and are frosted over where patients cannot see outside. They are never taken outside into the sunlight. This facility had an outbreak of bedbugs and the patients were instructed to shower and were put into paper scrubs. Some of the staff members were awesome and very caring and understanding but others have no business working with patients. They were rude, confrontational and very restrictive to the patients. My family member was afraid for her own safety as the men and women were allowed access to each other’s halls day and night. When we requested a transfer because of the bedbugs and safety concerns, the staff was not interested in helping facilitate this at all. I would not recommend this facility to anyone with a mental health problem, or anyone for any reason actually. I did report my concerns to the state and our insurance company. I really feel like our mental health care in this state is very substandard and needs a major overhaul. The food was terrible, the facility was in severe need of an upgrade. We were not allowed to bring decent food for My family member. These patients are sick and need care. They are not prisoners.

I was transferred to Beacon from an ER in Covington, La for depression. I was there for nearly two weeks and they didnt help at all. 95% of the daytime staff did not seem to have any training and were often jerks to the patients. The nightshift staff were great so I dont know what was going on there. I was put on a medication that is usually prescribed for seizures and Ive never had a seizure before in my life. It of course didnt help me with my depression. I told them that I am allergic to shrimp when I first arrived at the hospital but was brought food with it TWICE for lunch. I simply want to shine a light on how this place is not where you should go until some changes are made.

I am the family member of a patient. Im so disappointed in this place. I have had no updates, only a call for a background check. Administration and Social Services never answers their phone. The patient was admitted thru a hospital & this place is a joke.

If you value your loved ones dont send them here for treatment. They wont get help, they will only come home more broken and distressed.

Nurses and technicians dont care about the patients. If you have a side effect from the meds they put you on, they will say its an anxiety attack. They want to give you shots for everything. The day time staff is too immature to work in that type of environment. They constantly use bad language. They have bugs in the rooms/beds. The psychologist has no compassion. ALL the staff will tell you not to show ANY emotion or they will never let you out. The food is disgusting and was served raw sometimes. They do not follow diets. Diabetics are served more carbohydrates than they should get and then when your blood sugar is high they want you to start taking insulin. There is NO soap to wash hands after using the bathroom. They also give wrong medication and then blame the patient for their error. They are NOT there to help a person. They are ONLY there to put you on medication and get money.I gave them one star only because I cant give them no stars.
