My husband became ill shortly after arriving in New Orleans. His condition deteriorated rapidly and it became apparent he needed medical intervention. I make an appointment for a Sunday morning. Arriving a little early, we were greeted by the security guard and were allowed to immediately check in. We waited not much more than a minute before being called into triage. Within 15 minutes, my husband was in a bed back in the ER. He received exceptional care from the moment we entered. Procedures were well explained and I felt they really took his condition seriously. My husband was feeling better when we left about four hours later. Within another 24 hours, he was feeling about 90%. So glad I found Touro Infirmary. Highly recommend!!!

My husband went to the ER after experiencing extreme abdominal pain. They discovered he had appendicitis and was operated on the next morning. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful but Ms. Debbie Pickett in R5 who was his post surgery nurse truly stood out! She was genuinely kind and caring and constantly went above and beyond to make sure we both were comfortable during his medical journey at Touro. Hands down Ms. Debbie is the best medical professional either of us have ever dealt with!

My daughter went into labor prematurely and came here to deliver her 1st baby. I drove 2 hrs to stay the night with her and the baby so she can start to get her strength back. Because she had 2 visitors earlier this day, so I was not able to stay with her. So now she’s by herself trying to figure things out. The nurses are helpful but they can’t sit by her bedside all night to help her with little things like watching the baby while she shower or just use the restroom or even help calm down the baby when he gets fussy. I understand they have other patients to tend to. This is her 1st baby and she needed help. But security was is sooo rude and nasty when they speak to people. I’ve never in my life ever came across such rude people in my life. These people do not know how to talk to people must less explain hospital policies. It’s just NO!!!! NO!!!! NO!!!! AND NO!!! I couldn’t even get a question in. It’s not just about explaining the rules but it’s the attitude they have. And their body is language is no better by saying they don’t give a flip.

Touro Hospital and Dr. Richard Meyer are the very BEST! I am a physician and after researching the various options for my wife who needed total hip replacement surgery.....one name kept coming up on top - Dr. Richard Meyer. He specializes in the anterior approach - (which he teaches other orthopedists about) - and has many years of experience in this technique. My wife had surgery (3 months ago) at Touro - which has an amazing hip and spine surgery program. She got the very best team approach to her care at Touro. She felt like she was in a boutique/private hospital that was super clean and followed all the Covid precautions. The same day of surgery, she was walking and going up stairs. Now she is has been getting around very well, riding her bike and is ready to start back playing tennis. Dr. Meyers office folks are super helpful and have made this an amazingly successful medical experience. My wife has her life back and we couldnt be more thankful to Dr. Meyer, his staff, and Touro hospital.

I’ve visited this location twice to see Felipe Ramirez and both visits he never came in the room to see what was going on with my condition. He just stands outside the room playing on his phone while his assistant helps to the best of her ability. After my first visit he was supposed to refer me to a physical therapist it never happened. After my second visit his assistant told me he would schedule a mri and this also never happened. I’ve come to the realization that my back pain is my problem and not Ramirez concern.

Unfortunately I had to take my mom to the ER very late in the evening. I naturally assumed that there would be a very lengthy wait. To my surprise there was none!! She was seen right away.I cant begin to express how efficient the ER department is ran. My mom was seen by Dr. Wilde. She provided impeccable service, from the beginning to end. She was very knowledgeable, caring, and displayed top-notch bedside manners!! She made sure all necessary tests were ran before she provided a diagnosis. To cap it off, she even phoned the next day to check on my mom. We were there until the wee hours in the morning, and everyone that we encountered (Security, check-in, triage etc) displayed the same courtesy and professionalism. I usually have the best to say about Touro, but since this covid-19 they have been rude. I mean what hospital tells a wife she cant come in with her husband to be seen by a doctor for a spider bite? Obviously he wanted me to be there with him, why else would he have brought me? And as if that isnt bad enough you have me, the wife, sitting outside the entrance of the er with ambulances showing up with light on and I have a sezuire disorder. And heck its not like you guys dont know that its in my medical charts in your computer system! Then to top all of that off, you cant even let someone use your bathroom! Worst experience ever!

The staff ignored everything I told them. Met with nurse and anesthesia guy for pre-op assessment. He asked about my medical history. The nurse told him she just handed it to him, but he refused to read it. I told him the meds I take and those I cannot take. He ignored everything I told him. He asked about my medical problems. I told him about the heart and lung problems I suffer from. Again, he ignored me and said that doesnt matter. Really? My medical problems dont matter if Im having hip surgery? He asked if I prefer spinal or general anesthesia, I told him Ive had general in all of my past surgeries with no problems. He told me he and the Dr. dont do general anesthesia. They only do spinal because it is safer. He explained that with spinal the patient is allowed to breathe on their own. I repeated that I have serious lung problems, am required to use CPAP BECAUSE I DONT BREATHE ON MY OWN WHEN SLEEPING! He said that doesnt mater. REALLY? I need a CPAP with a pressure setting of 20 because I stop breathing over 100 times an hour when unconcious, and that doesnt matter? Then told me I cant take my RX meds the day of the surgery. Again, REALLY? I told him what and why I have to take the meds. I cannot skip doses by order of my cardiologist and pulmonist. He just ignored everything I told him and repeated his statement We dont use general anesthesia. I you dont like it go elsewhere.Thats exactly what I did. I cancelled the surgery and am going elsewhere.I see bad reviews here going back years. I also see responses from the Hospital saying to contact them so they can address the problem. Yet the bad reviews and complaints continue to pile up. That tells me Touro management isnt doing anything to improve the situations.Never been at Touro before, and NEVER again.

The worst experience. Released my daughter after child birth even though she was complaining about coughing up fluids. Rushed her back to the hospital at 6 A.M the next morning, where she was re admitted for five days. They gave her medicine which depleted her calcium (she was nursing at the time)causing her body to have an adverse reaction. They should have been giving her more calcium along with the medicine. The billing was the worst. They failed to bill insurance for several costs, and billed me directly. I wound up paying thousands out of pocket over what I should have because of their failure to bill Blue Cross properly. I only realized this two years later when a Collection agency contacted my daughter about an outstanding bill that was never submitted to Blue Cross.

I was billed $1,850.40 just for the doctor to tell me that I have a Bronchitis! What a shame!I am a French citizen, who stayed in the US for a couple of months. In February 2020, I have been diagnosed with bronchitis after a 30 minutes visit and a quick check by a doctor. She then asked, to do an X-ray scan that I refused, because it is unnecessary to diagnose bronchitis. However she insisted because of the Covid-19 situation, and she ensured me that it wont cost more than $50.1. Charged $366 charged for a radiology diagnosticLet me tell you how surprised I was by the amount billed. I asked both to the doctor and the operator of the scanner the amount of such diagnosis. And both answered that it won’t be more than 50$.2. Regarding the $1,457 charged for an emergency roomConsidering both the symptoms and the consequences of bronchitis, TOURO committed a manifested error of appreciation by putting me in a so-called « emergency room ». Bronchitis doesnt require any emergency room. It’s hardly understandable or even believable that TOURO can charge $1,457 for 30 min spent in an emergency room whereas I just needed to have an ordinance to have antibiotics. Plus I never required to be placed in an emergency room.3. Regarding the $75 charged for a pharmacyRegarding the pharmacy coast. I was given only 3 pills (1 steroid + 2 antibiotics) and one sip of cough syrup. I dont understand how those 3 pills and a sip of syrup can justify an amount of $75.To avoid by all cost ! A shame for the medical system

I am a New Orleans native, however I now live in another state. I’ve called Touro twice (this morning) because my grandmother has recently been admitted. The first call, someone hung up on me. The second call, (after before be transferred to the nurse’s area), the person who answered the phone was abrupt and RUDE. She asked me to “give the nurses a minute.” I understood that to mean she was asking me to hold on for a minute. And guess what? Another hang up! My experience in contacting Touro today has been frustrating and challenging. I expected my call to be well-received and handled professionally. That did not happen. I am greatly disappointed in the employees’ lack of manners and simple courtesy. Unfortunately, I’ll have to call Touro again to try to reach my grandmother. I hope to have a better experience. The birthing team was such an amazing diverse staff. The lead Dr. was a direct and in control Asian lady (Dr. Chow was her name I think). There were 2 African American Doctors 1 female and 1 male (Dr. Kenner), and the nurse were diverse as well. Shenika helped my sister through “tug of war” games and everything else throughout her labor. She was amazing. I really just want people to know the experience was phenomenal. I do not like this hospital. I sat on the ER gurney for 2 hours (with chest pain) trying to get a nurses attention & was given the call light after asking for it. There was blood from who knows when on the handrail of the ER bed. I was not informed of a test I was scheduled for before a procedure I was having the same day & I was not informed what time said procedure would take place. Without warning I was told I was being taken for the procedure. Then the transport said - no its a test. I told them right there in the hallway that they needed to get their act together. After being seen by the ER doc, I didnt see another doc till about an hour before the procedure. The staff do not knock before entering & just flip on the bright lights in the middle of the night with no warning. Dietary staff do not accommodate special dietary needs & refuse to send someone to talk to me about food preferences. The only reason I went there is because, it is the only place my insurance is willing to pay for tests. I would have only given 1 star, but some of the staff were very nice & the transport person wheeled me all the way to my car upon discharge. I wish I could remember his name to give him recognition. I complained to the nursing supervisor on my last admission, but sadly, it appears nothing has changed.

I called Touro earlier this week to schedule an appointment as a new patient as my husband and I are ready to conceive. I had my first child at Ochsner Baptist and my OBG was out of town so the experience was ok but I kept hearing commercials on the radio about what an exceptional experience it would be to give birth at Touro so I wanted to try something new. When I called the main line, the operator answered and I told her the reason for my call. She was very short with me replying that “this is the operator. I’ll transfer you to the correct person.” Once transferred, the receptionist was unbelievably short with me, often times talking over me before I could finish my sentence. When I told her I was a new patient, she cut me off, “Date of birth?” Ummmm, ok. Are staff that much in a rush that you can’t be courteous? A new patient? I made an appointment but am canceling. That left a bad taste in my mouth. I’ll be going back to Ochsner.

The MRI Technician stated that she was too busy to professionally introduce herself to me by stating her name. She also stated that she was too busy for me to finish completing my form, such as the medication. She constantly used jargons when referring to me throughout the procedure and telling me how busy she was with other patients waiting. I eventually stated to her that I felt rushed during my patient care. And I can leave and come back on a day when she was not so busy. It was then that she treated me in an unrushed manner like I was not taking up her time and she referred to me by my name (which is used as an identification process for the patients).

RAYNEISHA (?) was incredibly rude, short tempered and not helpful AT ALL. I have been having severe stomach and chest pains FOR DAYS so I called to make an appointment with my doctor. RAYNEISHA (?) answered and said my doctor was out of town. I asked can I see someone else? She doesnt answer just transfers me. Then the line was disconnected. I call back. She angrily says You need to go the emergency room. Cant I just see someone else? I asked. She replied The doctors nurse has to call you. (They NEVER CALL BACK PROMPLY). We tried again and RAYNEISHA didnt even try to book someone else, just shut us down. Im sure if she or anyone in her family felt this way she wouldve found an appointment somehow! RAYNEISHA doesnt need to be working answering phones. She SUCKED!

Im writing this from my room here at Touro. Im on the 8th floor, T section, & I am appalled at how the RN staff treats patients. Jaw on the floor! The rudest, Im smarter than a drug company & doctor put together, raising their voice at you & once threatened to have me leave via security because I simply asked if she could look to see when I had a medication last bc I knew she was wrong-- and she was. The docs have been AMAZING but as of 10/27/16 horrible nurses. Oh the mosquitoes are excellent. As a law school graduate, Im taking pictures and video of the possibly Zika & West Nile virus filled mosquitoes to give to my friend that is a huge medical neglect, malpractice etc attorney here in New Orleans. Game on yall!

This is based on what happened in the ER and might not apply to the rest of the hospital.I was taken by ambulance because I was having anaphylaxis from amoxicillin. The doctors and attendants knew I had taken amoxicillin and I was clearly exhibiting signs and symptoms of allergic shock, and I could barely breathe. They would not bring me a paper and pen to better communicate when I asked for them, and they gave me an irrelevant drug via IV against my will (I said no), for which I was charged. As someone who has had training in immunology and pathology myself, I can tell you that this should have been a clear-cut diagnosis and treatment. I am very forgiving of medical staff, theyre only human, but the way in which I was treated was also inordinately unethical, and apparently this is a pattern of behavior at this ER.I was kept for about six hours until I could breathe better, then discharged. As I was leaving, I saw the radiologist outside (who was very nice), and I spoke with her about my mistreatment, although I was still having a little trouble breathing. She agreed that the doctor should have looked into anaphylaxis as soon as I was admitted, as it was clearly the problem. It is extremely important that you ask to be taken to a different emergency room if you are informed in the ambulance that you will be taken here.

If you happen to have jewelery during your stay. Expect to have it stolen by staff. Mine is mysteriously gone and I have talked to many people. Jewelery my grandfather gave me and hes been dead for years. Jewelery I NEVER TAKE OFF. Very disappointing.

The labor and delivery department smells like rotting meat. The first time I visited this department, I thought that it was just a fluke. But Ive visited a couple friends there in the past few months and the smell is horrid. Maybe it smells so bad because the floor has carpet. Why a company would put this petri dish carpet in a germ infested place like a hospital, I have no idea.

Dr.Wilde is so rude and she not a good listener at all I’m pregnant and they waited until I was threatening an miscarriage to tell me when I first came they saw blood in my ultrasound like why y’all didn’t tell me that when y’all first seen it so that showed me that they didn’t really care or anything I didn’t comfortable with going back ever since.
