This was my first visit to Focus Eye care. I found this business online and wanted a “home-town” Doctor instead of the in and out franchises. The staff did not let me down. Each person was extremely nice and professional with very inviting personalities. The facility is super clean and nice. Dr. A herself came and retrieved me from the waiting area and walked me back to the exam room. Dr. A, is extremely knowledgeable and definitely in it for the patient. Once I was done with my exam, the young lady in the front was super nice and helped me with choosing my lenses. I already had two sets of frames with me for the doctor to see. Walking in I kind of thought they would push sell me new frames. It was the Doctor’s idea to use a set I already had. I have definitely found my new Optometrist office!

I really love this eye doctor! She is so nice and explains what everything is and how your eyes are doing!The only reason I didn’t rate 5 stars is because the last time I went to get a new prescription and exam l, at checkout the lady told me they only accept CareCredit with a visa logo on it, but as far as I know that doesn’t exist. So despite having CareCredit signs everywhere I could not use it.

This is my second year going to Focus Eye Care. I am so happy that I have found the prefect place. From the front desk staff Kayla always being so friendly each time I speak with her. I saw Dr. V last year and she did a amazing job. This year I saw Dr. A and she made me feel very comfortable about getting contacts as I have never worn them. She made the whole appointment very easy and quick, and made me comfortable with the contacts. Also Steven will help you out with teaching you how to get the contacts in and out and he was so helpful and easy to work with. Very happy to have this place as my main eye care.

They have been beyond patient with my daughter during her exams and also patient with me while explaining my insurance, warranties what my daughter needs for her to see as well As possible. Her glasses were accidentally broken at 9 o’clock this morning and they had them fixed by 9:40! On a Saturday!! This place is not what it used to be. I went in for an eye exam after 2 years (same place) Picked out a pair of glasses and was told it will be 2 weeks and I no eye exam they have my records they Ronisha said oh thats a good idea... seriously. I was called two later and was told it will be another 2 weeks it did not process. Finally got them after one month and they were done incorrectly bifocals. I can see better with my old scratched glasses. I finally had enough and called and they basically told me not our problem and I said just refund my money I cant wait any longer. They said they have a refund policy and they cant. What kind of business is this? Needless to say I will get a refund and they will never see me again

I went to Focus Eyecare In Murfreesboro based on a recommendation from an opthamologist as they specialize in fitting special contact lens for folks where severe astigmatism cannot be corrected normally. My vision was 20-2200 in my right eye (essentially useless) before correction to 20-40 with a sclera contact lens fitted by them. I cant start to say how awesome it is to regain sight again. I would highly recommend them based on their expertise and professionalism.

This was my first time here and it will not be my last! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the education they gave during the exam and allowing me to look at the pictures of my eyes. They had a great selection of glasses and it was enjoyable to pick them out. I would absolutely recommend Focus Eyecare to anyone!

Wow! If you are looking for an amazing Ophthalmologist look no further! I hadnt had an eye exam in almost 10 years- my husband found Focus Eyecare about a year ago and Im so glad he did! From the moment I walked into their office I felt welcomed! Not only was customer service a top priority, my one-on-one with Dr V was great! She explained every step and spent so much time explaining each aspect of the tests run, equipment being used and follow-up appointments needed. Her assistant, Krista (I believe was her name) also took time to help me pick the perfect frames!!I never felt rushed or like a number-- I am a patient for life!! Thank you for making me feel like a priority and appreciated!!

Took my 3 year old here on a Saturday. Wonderful, friendly staff and informative doctor. Great with my very enthusiastic, energetic 3 year old daughter. Told me some great information about her eyes and reducing her cell phone/ tablet use to help her eyes relax... spent plenty of time making my daughter feel comfortable and at ease with her first eye exam. Went in for my two older childrens appointments and mentioned it was time for me to have my annual exam. Dr. V got me in right then and there! Id been seeing the same eye doctor for over 20 years and this was a very refreshing experience. Dr. V explained so many issues to me and it was just a wonderful overall experience!!!! I loved the feeling of the office! As soon as I walked in, I was immediately comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. They helped me pick out a few frames and told me whether they looked good or not. I really appreciated the honesty! The doctor was very laid back and engaging. Kids enjoyed their time there. They usually don’t like to be checked up by any doctor. It was good that the doctor gave some time for some education about the eyes.

Dr. “V” has been my wife’s doctor for some time. She was able to provide solutions for conditions that other doctors deemed un-treatable. She is now working with me to improve my highly surgically altered eyes. We feel blessed to have this unique level of quality eye care located so near our home.Staff and facility is top notch as well. No need to drive to Nashville for high level eye exam and care.

Dr. V is amazing. She worked with me diligently even though I have the most screwed up eyeballs in the world. We were able to get my prescription dialed in and I am able to see again! My wife also enjoyed her visit and was very pleased with the service.

Relaxing atmosphere. I really enjoyed the small town feel like I am an individual instead of just another patient. Real nice decor, that just ties it all together. I like the fact that Dr V is very informative, even brought up things that I never would have thought about. Plan to recommend to friends and bring family there.

I am most grateful for the fact that Dr. Vanderhoof keeps up to date on the research that is happening in her field. She does not just try to maintain the status quo, but she tries to correct problems and prevent the worsening of other vision problems. There is much happening in the medical world of which the average person is not aware and to have a diligent doctor who is willing to do the hard work to keep up with the research is a blessing. In addition to her professionalism, she is a kind and pleasant person.

I have been to a lot of different eye doctors over the years but I cant think of any that were better than this place. Everyone was friendly and had pretty much no wait time to be seen. I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. Ive sat in waiting rooms for other eye doctors longer than that. Even the whole process of making my appointment was pleasant. And youre able to fill out all your paperwork online so you dont have to sit forever filling out papers when you get there. Overall a fantastic place to go, great location that is easily accessible and a wonderful staff. I cant say enough good things about them.

I was there to just choose a frame and some lenses. I didn’t feel like I was rushed nor did I feel like I was being up sold any products. The friendly and knowledgeable staff made my experience from start to finish exceptional! Every question was answered, even down to the cost!For the frame, I was guided to the perfect one. It took less than 5 minutes to decide. Your experience may differ. This store had many styles to choose from. Also they had many stylish frames for children as well. The frame I chose was the right width and the style was nice. The lenses were competitively priced, but fair. One of the staff came and made sure the frame and lenses will fit and sit on my head correctly. I won’t know how it turns out until they’ve been delivered. I will update this review when the glasses arrive.The only thing I didn’t like, but am just not-picking, is the availability. It’s not like the big box stores. This is a small business. They have limited resources, time being one of them, but they seem to doing well! Make sure to schedule an appointment early because I had to make one a week in advanced. I tried to book an appointment for my two kids, and didn’t have any spots opened until February. Again, they must be doing something well.

Im a new resident to Tennessee and needed to get set up with an eye doctor. I decided it was easier to go my sisters eye doctor based on her recommendation, and I was not disappointed! Everyone was friendly and helpful from the woman at the front, to the optician, to the optometrist, literally everyone I met there.I was having a lot of issues with my contacts, and Id run out of new disposable lenses. Dr. Vanderhoof was friendly and professional and was able to fit me with contacts that day! She tested the contacts multiple times and made sure they fit perfectly. Ive never been able to walk out with a new set of contacts before, always had to order them and wait for delivery in the past. I walked out with new contacts that felt amazing, and I could see better.We also discussed Lasik surgery since I was curious if I was a good candidate. She answered my questions and was upfront about the fact that I would still need reading glasses etc. She didnt try to push me into spending money on an expensive surgery.AND THEY HAVE EXTENDED HOURS!I would absolutely recommend Focus Eyecare to everyone!

Focus Eyecare is PHENOMENAL! Called and asked if they could get me in same-day - they made it happen. The office is beautiful and very welcoming. Dr. Vanderhoof is very caring and compassionate. An awesome optometrist that is very thorough. I began having some issues with my vision that had become quite bothersome. I reached out to Dr. V with my concerns and although it was late in the day she was knowledgeable of what I was experiencing and the severity of it and took the time to see me right away rather then having me wait until a scheduled appointment. Frankly, she helped to save my vision by being caring and taking the time to evaluate me. It took a thorough examination to find the problem area which required an emergency/next day eye surgery. I am forever grateful for her time and service and highly recommend her to any one.

I cant say enough good things about this place! Ive worn contacts/glasses for 16 years, so Ive had plenty of eye exams. This was the most thorough eye exam Ive ever had. She did several tests Ive never even had done before, but dont think that all the extra tests take up alot of time. I was in and out in 45 minutes, as a new patient! That includes the exam (and extra tests), picking out contacts, picking out glasses, talking about insurance, and checking out.Speaking of insurance- they actually take time to explain your insurance benefits with you. Its above and beyond anything Ive ever experienced before. No more it costs how much for contacts?!My last exam was at a chain eye place that shall not be named. It was by far the worst experience Ive ever had and it prompted me to look for an independent eye doctor close to home. Needless to say, Ive found her!

Ive been to a few optometrists and while I dont have negative things to say about any of them, Dr. Vanderhoof really set herself apart by noticing things in my exam that I never mentioned and gave me tips on how to help resolve them (example, my itchy eyes from my work environment) and was easy to understand when she explained everything. There was absolutely no wait! The later appointment in the day was also very helpful.

I waited until my son and I went through the whole process of our appointment, fitting, receiving our glasses and wearing them for a bit before posting this. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Ive been to a big box national chain in the past and I wouldnt go back. The customer service from everyone was great. Dr. Vanderhoof was especially patient with my son and very through for both of our exams. She respected the budget we had for anything our insurance did not cover and made the pricing clear upfront and gave us options and I didnt feel pressured into one option or the other. The glasses my son and I have are great quality and look really good and my son loves the ones he picked.

Absolutely LOVED this place and their staff!! They were so accommodating in getting my daughter in quickly for her annual exam, especially when they found out she was desperate to get fitted for contacts. Dr. Vanderhoof is exceptionally kind and very patient and was very easy to interact with. It took my daughter a while to get the hang of taking her contacts in and out before we could leave and we never felt rushed or like an inconvenience. We live on the complete opposite side of town from their office, so it is about a 30 minute drive to get there, but reviews dont lie. It is definitely worth the drive! We have found our new eye Dr. for life!!

Not only did I absolutely love the care I received here-- comprehensive eye exam (honestly, the most comprehensive I have ever gotten!) I got some great tips on how to relieve my migraine headaches, and that was AMAZING. Dr. Vanderhoof is thoughtful, caring, and kind. Her staff is top-notch. I have been wearing glasses or contacts and having eye exams for 25 years. Focus Eyecare has been my best experience by far. The exam and service were the best I’ve ever experienced.

I just moved to Murfreesboro from Albany GA a month ago. I had the same optometrist for 40 years. Moving to a new city, I needed to establish with an optometrist. Dr. Vanderhoof and her staff were awesome! She is very friendly and professional. She uses the latest technology and explained my care plan to the point where I feel confident that I am in great hands.

My wife had an appointment Friday, and me Monday. Wonderful staff. Dr, Vanderhoof was wonderful and professional. Took her time and explained everything. I have never had a more thorough eye exam. I wear bifocals, but look through the bottom lens on my computer for work. I explained I wanted to get a cheap set of glasses for omputer, she asked how far the monitors were. Reset my near vision prescription for the cheap set to accommodate my specific needs for that set of glasses. I really appreciated that.

They arent like a chain eye care place. They explain and answer all questions. I didnt feel rushed at all. Quality service. Diagnosed my problem and my eyes are almost 100% better in less than 12 hrs! I wish all places were like this.

Im not one to do many reviews but need to share this one. My mother was in town and had symptoms of a torn or detaching retina (aka- will lose sight of not treated immediately). We know this a serious and medically emergent condition (another family member had it happen) and called on a Saturday to see if they could get her in. They said we should come in immediately and they would fit her in. We got there as soon as possible towing my 2 toddlers with us. We sat and waited for 2 hours and 15 minutes AND NEVER SAW OR TALKED TO THE OPTIMETRIST. We were continually told She knows this is an emergency and will see you soon as she can. They took appointment after appointment without even so much as looking at her eye for a possible diagnosis. I completely get needing to honor others appointments (non-emergent, routine appointments) but do not tell me to come immediately, reiterate how much of an emergency this is and then make us wait over 2 hours without even so much as speaking to her. She could have easily taken her back, dilated the eye, looked at it, given a diagnosis and next steps in 10-15 minutes. We would have been happy to wait until her schedule was clear if we knew what was officially going and even come back when her schedule was clear to do whatever needed to be done to treat it. Rather we were told it would be at most another 30 minutes. We ended up leaving. The optometrist called 45 minutes later (when the other non- emergent client was done) and reiterating my mom needed to be seen that day and she wanted to make sure That happens today. Seriously? As a provider myself, I know that phone call was simply to cover her negligent treatment if indeed my mother did end up losing her sight, etc. We ended up going to the ER and seeing a ophthalmologist that treated her eye that evening.
