I had my lenses replaced in both eyes. This is a life altering operation. My visual acuity now is better than I have ever had in my whole life. What was unexpected was the delightful improvement in color accuracy - I am now seeing true colors for the first time in many years. It is amazing. Dr. Beers was excellent in explaining carefully the various lens alternatives and letting me decide my self. The operation itself was a breeze. In and out in a morning. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. It was all done with assembly line precision. I had great confidence that they had done this many, many times before and had it down to a carefully choreographed routine. I had no pain. I was already seeing out of the operated eye the next day and within a few days I was seeing better than I had before. A terrific experience overall.

I had PRK done about 5 months ago by Dr. Beers and am really impressed at the results. I went from worse than 20/600 to better than 20/20! It did take me almost a month after surgery to have decent vision but understood that was expected with PRK. Most days I dont think about it anymore except for wishing that Id done it sooner! The team was great at explaining everything, the follow-up appointments have been easy, and now my husband is considering from finally getting his eyes done too 🤓

This is an excellent clinic for doing Lasik. Highly recommend. I am a 37 y/o male engineer who had Lasik vision surgery with Dr. Liu, in August of 2020. I am now three weeks post-surgery and have 20/20 vision, with the normal side effects/recovery time. The whole process was very professional, quick, and effective. I especially appreciated that after my surgery, later in the evening, Dr. Liu gave me a personal call to check in on how I was doing. Dr. Liu did my Visian ICL and everything turned out really well. I opted in for ICL instead of Lasik, because of my fear of getting something done thats non-reversible.The whole process went smoothly. I first got the iridotomy done, which hurts quite a bit on my left eye because I have very thick iris, but its nothing unbearable. The ICL surgery itself was way better than the iridotomy, I have very low pain tolerance and I didnt feel much. I was able to gain very clear vision (almost 20/20) on the second day, but very sensitive to lights. After the third day I was able to go back to my normal routine.During my follow up checks, Dr. Liu told me that the lenses are sitting very well in my eyes, the lenses size fits perfectly and I was able to getting very good vaulting (about 1.5 cornea thickness). I regained very sharp and crisp vision, its nothing comparable to using glasses and contact lenses. Overall Im really happy with the result, I regret not getting it done sooner :)

This is a review about the photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) procedure I had done in July 2020.I was always squeamish about touching my eyes and it took me ages to even work up the courage to start wearing contact lenses. Anyway, years later, I decided to have laser eye surgery done to correct my strong myopia. My doctor, whom doctor Dan Beers had done LASIK on over 20 years ago (!!) recommended him.Georgina, the refractive coordinator, was so friendly and kind. She explained a lot of things to me and did the measurements, etc. Dr. Beers (who has an impressive resume by the way -- years and years of experience in this field) took one look at my eye measurements and explained that I was not a LASIK candidate. I was initially heartbroken, but then he explained that PRK was an alternative and that some people can get even better vision sometimes with PRK (plus you have the added bonus of not having a flap created). I was very excited that this possibility existed and eagerly opted for this PRK alternative.Georgina held my hand during the quick and painless surgery (involves staring at a laser while the surgeon does his magic), which was so nice and made the experience so much better.Things take TIME to improve after PRK (Dr. Beers had explained this to me before). However, I was lucky. Although I suffered from dry eyes and moderate ghosting initially (completely expected), things improved week by week. I got to 20/20 vision pretty quickly and I can now say that after 9 months, I no longer need any lubricating drops and my vision has now reached 20/15 (which slightly exceeds my initial goal of 20/20).Please keep in mind that the experience varies from person to person depending on how your eyes heal and that my experience might be different from yours.I think I made the right choice by choosing them. I felt that I was in safe hands throughout.

I have been a very satisfied patient of Dr. Beers since 2003. Not only is he a wonderful Doctor, but his entire staff is always helpful and professional.When I first visited Dr. Beers, my vision was so blurred I was having difficulty seeing. I was wearing contacts at the time and my corneas were so scratched, Dr. Beers originally thought I might have cancer of the corneas. Luckily that was not the case. I have gone to this practice for many years and stay with it because I have always been happy with the care I receive. There is very little turn over with staff. My experience has been that the medical assistants, office staff and physicians are extremely friendly and helpful. I especially appreciate Brenda and Patty in their optical shop. I have appreciated their help in choosing lenses and repairing and replacing them when needed. They make it easy! Brenda is also a fantastic teacher when it comes to learning how to put in and remove contact lenses - something I found to be more difficult than I had anticipated. I actually look forward to interacting with them and always feel comfortable asking for their help when I need it. Plus the shops satisfaction guarantee cant be beat!

I had been wanted to fix my vision permanently since I started needed reading glasses 15 years ago. My previously perfect vision just was getting worse and worse every year. Finally I took the plunge in 2020 and had Dr. Liu replace my lenses with the Panoptix multi-focal. The whole thing went really well and I cant complement Dr Liu enough. I donated all my pairs of glasses and just love the crisp vision, close and distant. I can read any font size and its just a new and better life that I appreciate every waking minute. If youre thinking about this, you owe it to yourself to at least go in to see if youre a candidate. I think this is the best investment Ive ever made in myself.[Update one year after surgery: still awesome, no change!]

My experience with Dr. Beers, Georgina, and the rest of the staff at Peninsula Laser Eye Medical Group has been nothing short of amazing. Since the procedure I had (ICL or implantable collamer lens) is not well-known compared to LASIK, I wanted to provide more details on my experience in case it helps others who are as curious as I was when I first learned about this option.Being very nearsighted with strong astigmatism (-9.75 -4.50 in one eye, -12.00 -3.75 in the other), I was not a candidate for LASIK or PRK, so for several years I was eagerly awaiting FDA approval of the Visian Toric ICL procedure, which finally happened in September 2018. Dr. Beers is one of very few doctors performing this procedure in the Bay Area (at least at the time I was doing my research in the fall of 2019), and I ended up choosing him because of my positive experience during the initial consultation and interacting with Georgina leading up to the appointment. Georgina is the BEST! She is super knowledgeable about the procedure and goes out of her way to make sure you are informed and at ease every step of the way. Since I didnt know anyone personally who has gone through this procedure, it could have been intimidating but I felt 100% comfortable going into this blind, thanks to Georgina.I decided to go through with the procedure during the summer of 2020, and this consisted of two parts: a pre-operative appointment to collect detailed measurements of the eyes and perform the peripheral iridotomy (using a laser to form two tiny holes in each eye to reduce the risk of high pressure in the eye after surgery), and the surgery itself to implant the lenses. There were about three months in between, as my lenses had to be custom-made and there was an unforeseen delay in manufacturing one of the lenses. I think it would normally be closer to one month if the lenses do not need to be custom-made. Well, the wait was so, so worth it!Everything went smoothly on the day of my surgery. Although I was awake during the procedure, I remember very little due to the twilight state induced by the anesthesia. Upon leaving the surgery center, I was already able to see quite well, though my vision got hazier later in the day after waking up from my post-surgery nap. My vision was 20/60 at my first follow-up appointment the same day. Most of the haziness was gone when I woke up the next morning, and when I went in for my next follow-up that day I was seeing 20/20!! Thats even better than what I was seeing with contacts or glasses, exceeding my expectations for post-surgery vision. I was able to resume normal activities that day after my second follow-up, though I took a few extra days off from work so that I wouldnt be staring at a computer screen all day immediately. All in all, the recovery was quick and painless.As someone who has worn contacts or glasses for pretty much as long as I can remember (since age 7), this surgery is truly life-changing. I highly recommend it for anyone considering refractive surgery, especially if you are not a candidate for traditional laser procedures. I never thought there could be a procedure that would fully correct my extreme levels of nearsightedness and astigmatism, and boy am I happy to be proven wrong!

The first time I visited the office a thorough exam was performed, and I was happy to be a candidate for Refractive Lens Exchange surgery. I am thrilled to be glasses free for distance as well as reading. The procedure and recovery were both quick and painless. Instructions, follow up and accessibility were all terrific. The practice runs on time, the equipment they utilize is top notch, and the staff is kind, caring and smart. I appreciate having done this for myself every day!

If I could give Dr. Beers and his staff a rating higher than 5 stars I would. I recently had cataract surgery completed on both eyes by Dr. Beers. I have have been wearing glasses since I was 12 years old and my vision was growing cloudy. Just a few weeks later and now my vision is 20-20 in both eyes and I can see details I have never been able to see my whole life. It truly is a miracle. ( I did notice I have a few more wrinkles in my face than I thought I had.)Dr. Beers does his work at the Peninsula Eye Surgery Center in Mountain View. This is a small facility (6-8 patients) dedicated to only eye surgeries. It is easy-in and easy-out. I cant say enough about the care I got while I was there and I even counted more nurses than patients. Prior to the operation, Dr. Beers stopped by and explained exactly what the surgery would involve and put me at ease.The whole process was very straightforward. They gave me eye drops to numb the eye as well as relieve any pressure. Shortly after, I was given a valium to calm my nerves. Just prior to the surgery, an IV was painlessly inserted so I could be given an anaesthetia during the operation.During the procedure I was awake and responding to Dr. Beers questions and instructions. The surgery took a total of about 15 minutes and after a short recovery, I was on my way home. The whole process was less than 2 hours. The post-op care has been wonderful.My main tip would be have a premium Toric lens implanted. It costs a bit more but is well worth the price if you can afford it.Thank you Dr. Beers for letting me see better than I have my entire life.

Dr. Beers of the Peninsula Laser Eye Medical Group recently performed cataract surgery on me. I had postponed the surgery for several years, but Dr. Beers reassured me that I was in good hands and all would go well. I am so pleased with the miraculous results! Now that the yellowish cataracts have been replaced, colors are much brighter, especially blues and whites. As a bonus, I went from worse than 20/400 vision to 20/20 in my right eye the day after surgery. I was awake for the surgery, felt no pain, and after a nap at home woke up with perfect vision in my right eye. I chose mono vision so that I have great near vision in my left eye and can read without glasses. What a miracle after nearly 50 years of nearsightedness and astigmatism to have clear vision and to be seeing bright colors again. Thank you, Dr. Beers, for your professional manner and outstanding skill, and thank you to the staff as well.

Dr.Liu did my cataract surgery on both eyes. I am extremely happy. He gave me the multifocal lens. I can see 20/20 with both eyes and work at my computer and read a book without glasses. He is a wonderful doctor and I recommend him highly.

After years of receiving stellar eye care from Peninsula Laser Eye, I finally bit the bullet and got laser eye surgery. I just had my 5 week post-op checkup, and Im overjoyed to report that Ive officially gone from highly nearsighted (-6.0) to 20/20! I feel like Ive been set free. The surgery itself was incredibly fast and recovery was nearly painless - I took 2 Advil and a nap the day of the surgery, and that about covered it. After a few weeks of steady improvement in clarity, Im 100% satisfied with my sight, night vision included. In retrospect, the only thing holding me back from getting this surgery was my fear, and disbelief that such a miraculous thing could be so quickly and effectively accomplished. I had worn corrective lenses for almost 70 years when it was time for me to have cataract surgery. My wifes positive experience with Dr. Beers made him my first choice as my surgeon. I was used to mono vision with my contact lenses (one eye corrected for distance, one for close up) so I chose that option as well as the use of toric lenses to correct my astigmatism. Both eye surgeries went well and I now have excellent vision with no corrective lenses required. Its a miracle to have flawless vision without the aid of glasses or contacts! I was really nervous about Lasik and consulted with multiple doctors around the Bay Area but went with Peninsula based off my comfort level after I met with them. Dr.Beers staff was extremely reassuring and happy to answer all my questions. Dr.Beers even personally calls you the same night after your surgery to check in on you! I had a high power but am at 20/20 now, its been life changing! Ive had absolutely no issues with my vision since the surgery and highly recommend Dr.Beers.

ICL Surgery/ Interocular Lens Surgery Review: Ive seen both doctors at this clinic and highly recommend them, but for the purpose of this review I am limiting myself to discuss my ICL surgery with Dr. Beers. I had high astigmatism in both eyes as well as a very high power and dry eye. I was devastated to learn that due to these conditions I did not qualify for Lasik, However, with the help of Dr. Liu, Georgina, and Dr. Beers I learned about and decided to undergo ICL surgery, a process in which a permanent lens is inserted into your eye. The compassionate care and personalized follow up from Dr. Beers and Georgina throughout the process made me very comfortable going through with this surgery and I am so pleased to report that I have had a great experience and now see better than 20/20! I highly recommend the team at Peninsula Laser Medical Group for ICL surgery, especially if you have been told you do not qualify for Lasik.

After being told repeatedly there was little to be done to correct my vision, I was referred to Dr. Beers. He proposed ICL for by very poor vision (-10 and -11). From the first phone call through the entire surgical process, Dr. Beers and his staff were lovely, very warm and quick to put me at ease, and all were very knowledgeable. I had both eyes done the same day. There was zero pain involved in the procedure. For the first 24 hours, things were a little blurry, but by 48 hours my vision was perfect for the first time that I can remember. Five months later, vision is still perfect, with no side effects. Great surgeon, great team, highly recommend.

Just had my annual eye exam and everything was perfect! I had the Restore procedure done by Dr. Beers about 3 1/2 years ago and my eye site has been 20/20 ever since then. Very happy with the whole process.

Dr. Beers is excellent. He has been the ophthalmologist for our entire family since 1989. He has performed laser corrective surgery on me and my younger son, taken care of my mothers cataracts, and taken care of my older sons eye problems as well. When any of us has needed to get glasses or corrective lenses, we have always come here. He and Dr. Liu are caring and responsive. We have called them even on holiday weekends, and have gotten a call back within 5 minutes. They personally come into the office to check for emergency situations. The staff is excellent as well from the front desk to all the assistants and nurses. The optical store and staff are also excellent. In all, as a family of five, we have never had issues or problems with Peninsula Laser Eye Medical and anticipate that we will continue coming here for years.

I have been going to Dr. Beers and Dr. Shahinian for a number of years. The staff is always professional and very friendly and are always eager to answer any questions. Both doctors had made me aware that eventually I would probably need some correction due to increasing evidence of a cataract in both eyes. I decided it was the right time to have the surgery. So in January 2015, I had my left eye done and then in February, had my right eye done. A Toric Lens was implanted during each of the procedures. The actual surgeries are done at their off site surgery center, just blocks from their office. The surgery center staff make you feel very welcome and make sure you are always comfortable. The procedure takes about a half hour and there is no pain at all. You remain awake but are mildly sedated. I now have 20/20 vision and after wearing glasses full time for for almost 50 years, I now only need a cheap set of readers for the computer. And Im also happy to report, that my golf game has improved as well. Thanks Dr. Dan and your entire staff!!!!

I had an elective ReStore procedure with Dr Beer. The goal was to restore my vision so I would not need to wear reading glasses. The results are the closest thing to a miracle. Ive been coming to Peninsula Laser Eye Medical Group for 17 years, since I was 9 years old and needed glasses. Since then, Dr. Beers has been my primary ophthamolagist and he has been excellent - from prescribing contact lenses to me when I was a teenager (my eyes were extremely sensitive to contacts, so the correct soft lenses needed to be prescribed), to finally performing LASIK corrective surgery on my eyes when I was 25, after my vision had been stable for a number of years. In all, he and his staff have been excellent and I would highly recommend coming to him for all issues relating to vision.

Dr. Beers did my laser corrective eye surgery (PRK) in June. He and his staff made the entire process very easy from the initial consultation to the actual surgery to the post-Op appointments. Dr. Beers was especially helpful in explaining to me the risks and benefits of PRK vs. LASIK and what to expect in terms of recovery and outcomes. Very happy to finally have perfect 20/20 vision with no side effects after 15+ years wearing glasses and contacts.

Ive been blind all my life. although not the worst, my -3.25 prescription made my life a lot harder. my eyes are also naturally very dry so they would often reject my contacts. i always dreaded my morning routine because i hated putting my contacts in so much. getting the prk surgery with dr. beers literally changed my life. i can just open my eyes now and actually see, its still hard to believe it. although the recovery was a bit uncomfortable (but totally doable) and it took a few weeks for my eyesight to considerably improve, i am now at 20/15 two months later, even better than 20/20. i could not recommend the procedure or dr. beers more :)

No more contacts or glasses :-) I just had LASIK surgery yesterday and my 20/400+ vision is now 20/20. Dr Beers and staff were very professional and kind. If you are thinking about getting your vision fixed I highly recommend going here.

Dr. Dan Beers performed the intraocular lens RESTOR procedure on both of my eyes in April 2014. Since the surgery my vision has remained perfect at age 69 and I have not worn a pair of readers ever again. I can still read the smallest print on my cellphone, and see all of the controls and displays on my cameras. Over the past year I have taken up the shooting sports and can see as well as people half my age. Ive had no issues with night vision and still drive at night in all conditions. It is a life altering surgery and I could not recommend it more highly.

I was referred to Dr. Liu by my San Jose eye doctor after my eyesight was no longer correctable with a new prescription. Dr. Liu and his assistants quickly diagnosed cataracts as the cause of my blurry vision and soon I confidently scheduled surgery with Dr. Liu and his team. Dr. Liu was able to replace my cloudy lenses with prescription lenses that not only corrected for distance and mid-range, but also were able to correct the astigmatism in both eyes!! I have nothing but praise for the quality of service and care I received before the 2 surgeries (2 weeks apart) during the surgical procedures and post op. The results of my surgeries are 20:20 vision for everything but reading, and my color vision has also delightfully improved.
