As I reflect back on the passing of my father, I feel the need to express my gratitude for the compassion, sincerity and respect that John Callahan and his staff at U.S Davis and Callahan Funeral Home provided to myself and my family. First off, as the Grundy County Coroner, John responded quickly upon my father’s passing. Even though it was the middle of the night, he allowed the family as much time as needed before doing his official Coroner job.John was extremely flexible in meeting with us at the funeral home the next day to make funeral arrangements. It was a first-time experience for me, and John was so well organized and made the emotional and difficult process very simple and comforting. He had a wonderful selection of memory card options and caskets to select from. We received many compliments on my father’s casket. John truly helped visualize, articulate, and put together the type of service that we envisioned to fully honor my father and his service to our country. The funeral home is very clean, updated and accommodating for any expected or unexpected size of visitations or funeral. It has a wonderful banquet area that allowed for refreshments, family visits and gathering during and after the visitation. John and his staff worked seamlessly with our church pastor for the funeral services as well as the burial coordination at the National Cemetery. After all the services were complete, John personally delivered all the plants, flowers, display items, cards and blank thank you cards to my home. I feel like John and his staff work endlessly and tirelessly for the families they serve at a time of need. I can’t fully express my appreciation and gratitude to John and his staff.

My wife lost her father Serren Lee Boys; a true son of Morris, Illinois. He passed peacefully surrounded by family at our home in Buckeye, Arizona. No matter how prepared you may think you are; you are not. Our family was grieving, and did not really know or understand the process of getting Serren home to Morris. John Callahan was our saving grace. John is literally the kindest man I have ever met. Without question John guided us through the final arrangements, provided the most beautiful service we could have ever hoped for, and most importantly did it with our families feelings seemingly being his only concern! John Callahan , Pastor Kevin, and the U.C. Davis-Callahan group have the most difficult job on the planet, and in our humble opinion are second to none!! Thank you for all that you did for the Boys family. We will forever be grateful, and strongly recommend John and his team to anyone.

Losing your loved one is hard enough without having to worry about how you are treated. We were treated with care and dignity and so was our loved one. This Funeral Home has served our family twice for both of our parents, and we had no reservations using them for either service.
