Terrible Nursing Home - I had to call 911 to bring my dad to the ER - Neglected - malnutrition, bruises all over his body. I would rate it as Zero if that was an option. Dont go to this Nursing Home/assisted living. Horrible place for your love ones.

Brookdale took good care of my stepfather. The staff were kind to the residents and they kept them COVID-free March-June no small feat in the middle of a pandemic. They would let my mom eat with him if she was there at mealtime and navigated some tricky family dynamics with us. Melinda was very helpful to us as we went through the ALTCS approval process and ensuring that my Mom had what she needed. Paul very kindly would use his iPhone to let us Facetime in order to stay in contact throughout lockdown. Staff doesnt have to care, but it is obvious they do. The facility is very clean and the food not bad.I would like to add that we received pictures in the mail 2 days ago of my stepdad from Victoria, the Executive Director of Brookdale and to point out that facilities run well for a reason and that reason is usually to be found at the top of the chain. Victoria has done a great job of maintaining patient safety in the era of COVID and strives to keep high quality resident care a priority; Brookdale is high quality and your family member will be well treated there by upper management, and staff.

The Brookdale Staff is incredible. The second we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome & a smile. It was obvious that these were people who truly love what they do. After touring the facility, we sat down with Liz and she went over everything thoroughly. As difficult as it was for us to leave our grandpa in an unfamiliar place with people he didnt know, we felt confident in our decision. Liz and the other ladies in the front were very compassionate, understanding and reassuring. Since moving grandpa in, we have met many other attentive & caring staff members- one of which went OUT of his way to get the cable hooked up in the room and working properly. He stayed late (past his scheduled shift) to handle this and even followed up shortly after. Mark, your efforts and hard work are appreciated!Thank you Brookdale staff for all you do!

The staff and management do a great job finding the right fit for each new resident. They have a number of different activities for the residents and even a dog and cat to make things feel more comfortable. We took our first tour and immediately felt the warm, inviting environment from the minute we met Traci Henderson who showed us around at Brookdale East Mesa.

My experience with Ms Traci Henderson was beyond fabulous. Her caring attitude is evident in everything she does, in the way that she talks to the residents as well as new people coming in the door like us. I value her attentiveness and her Compassion in dealing with it what is a very difficult situation for many families.

I was very impressed with the fact that residents can access the outdoors with really nice gardens and walkways and still remain in a totally secured environment. They really make it feel like residents are comfortably in their own house.

We just moved our mom here from another Brookdale facility. She has alzheimers and OCD. We were expecting a long transition period but were pleasantly surprised when she became comfortable in 2 days. The facility is bright and homey..very comfortable and the staff is amazing. Everyone we have come into contact with is caring and compassionate. Our questions and concerns have been addressed and we are extremely satisfied with her care.

When its time to find a home for your loved one, its a difficult, confusing journey. Brookdale East Mesa is the home my Mom now resides in and my I couldnt be happier!! We live out of state so knowing that the people there, starting with Victoria English (Executive Director) and her staff, I am 100% confident Mom is well taken care of. East Mesa employees look at the residents as part of their own family. They become attached to everyone, watch over them, listen to them when theyre having a tough day (as all memory care people have). Family Night each month has a theme, decorations and food that, in our experience, is top notch!!! My family is blessed to have Mom at Brookdale East Mesa!!!

This is by far the best homelike facility to leave your loved one. I love it so much that I’ve already told my grown children that this is where I want them to place me if I get dementia/Alzheimer’s. This Brookdale is a specialized dementia/Alzheimer’s facility. My mom has been here for 18 months and she has not only got A+ care, but all the staff here are kind, caring and just AMAZING❣️ All their meals are made from scratch and they’re chefs cook better and healthier than I have ever cooked for my own family or myself. They have low turnover. Hardly any! Most of their staff have worked her for around 10 years plus.I had previously tried several home based assisted living for her and it was a complete nightmare. She was patient dumped at a hospital at one. On her death bed at another which was run by a Filipino woman who owned several homes that she converted over to assisted living homes. The 2 workers were also Filipino and not only treated my mom and the other clients horribly and fed them white bread with peanut butter at every meal and would strap the clients into their beds at 7 pm so they could skype all night with their husbands in the Philippians all night. They did not notify me when my mom got extremely ill and could not breath from pneumonia. They called the hospice after-hour nurse who then called me. I immeasurable called 911 and had them rushed out to save my dying mom. Not caused from old age, but absolute neglect. The other patients would tell me that they were all treated horribly and were afraid they would die there. They not only treated the clients bad but me and my family too! My mom was dehydrated and had septics and pneumonia and was in the hospital for weeks before having to continue her recovery at a nursing type facility. So if you want a place that will take care of your loved ones better than you ever could in your own. THIS IS THE PLACE👍🏼 Deana Willis daughter and fan of Brookdale EastMesa. ☺️

Please dont send your family here! Negative star if I could! I visited for maybe 30 minutes or less, all of which (and more) I witnessed during this visit:1. Patient/ resident having a seizure, in the dining hall in a chair. NOT ONLY did the staff not know it was happening and not know what to do, I told them to lay her on the ground on her left side, but they refused to allow us to even make sure she wouldnt fall and they surely werent securing her either (the dispatcher told you the same thing to do). They never verified if anything was in her mouth (she was EATING) and they never even knew she was seizing until we told them (there was 2 attendings next to her, I was across the hall and witnessed it all). And have video of this.2. A short visit and not a clean bathroom anywhere? The resident restroom had DRIED feces everywhere, and the guest bathroom had blood all over the door handle and another disgusting toilet. Health department, would you like some photos? I have plenty.3. The food was seriously hard, frisbee throwing hard, and this was a HOLIDAY meal. The regular meals are absolutely disgusting! And when the resident pointed out it was cold and hard, the staff was so rude to them, poked the food with their bare hands, yanked it away, microwaved it (um, kinda, 5 seconds didnt help) I cant believe how rude the staff was to the patients- this broke my heart!4. The shivering ladies trying to eat their food, very cold climates and they are dressed in summer clothing. Um... hello people, its CHRISTMAS, not July. Try offering them their sweater or something! You can SEE them trying to pull their arms in their tee shirts and you yelled at them? Really!? I was freezing and the weather there was like summer compared to where I live, Im used to the cold and it was cold.5. You dont comfort or even talk to the residents, you YELL at them. Not just 1 worker, the 7 employees I witnessed all did. Pulling people by their elbow to make them walk, pushing them down to sit, this isnt compassion, this is abuse. Slow down for a moment and walk the residents speed, youre only at least 20 years younger than them.6. Stop saying thats not my job, for the love of humanity, if you work there and theres a spill, wipe it up real quick. If we tell you something is wrong (like a freezing room, cold steak, 2 clogged toilets, NO BATHROOM SOAP- none, not in treatment room or public bathroom, no bra on the resident you helped get dressed, seizing resident in a chair, dirty light switches, fresh blood needing cleanup, a clean table to eat at, a clean chair to sit in, a bandaid, or heaven forbid simple basic CPR and emergency protocol, or even the table that was about to fall because the bolt was so loose- youre welcome, I fixed it, it took 30 seconds) STOP SAYING ITS NOT YOUR JOB! I heard that so many times I kept thinking, what IS YOUR JOB?I pray for every resident here!! This is so wrong.
