If your PCP refers you to this guy, kindly decline and ask to be referred someplace else. Chances are you will only interact with his PA and nurses anyway. Once you do get a chance to talk to him, he disregards your concerns, gives you a clean bill of health, and then refers you to someone else instead of treating you when your concern is still an actual problem.

I was scheduled for a EGD & a Colonoscooy . Hadn’t met dr Lans in office , PA did pre-op visit. So morning of procedure day I was anxious to meet my GI Dr.I’m a 17 yr post gastric bypass patient. I had many complications from neuropathy, vitamin deficiencies. B-1 & B-12 the lowest . I had to relearn to walk , write, care for my personal hygiene . It was rough and still is... this year that lead me to dr Lans office was “mesenteric panniculitis, “ though didn’t know that then (June) . It was causing inflammation in abdomen ( I looked 8 months pregnant) pressing on esophagus . I had terrible burning at junction of esophagus and stomach pouch still size of a softball . So I was a bit terrified of GI procedure outcome. Dr Lans came to bedside of pre-op and introduced himself . I told him that I had gastric bypass in 2003 and my stomach was small still. Due to esophagus that isn’t functioning normally . My complaint is Dr Lans then said “isn’t that the reason you have a gastric bypass” . I thought he hadn’t read my medical history or new problems from 6 months of inflammation . Or he doesn’t care for gastric bypass people thinking it’s a easy way for weight loss. It’s not ! And his non-compassion for what I had and was now going through left me with“ this will be last time I seek his medical help.” As my inflammation from steroids subsided so did burning in esophagus . By the way , steroids came from my neighbor a hospitalist . Not my primary GP , he did nothing for the 6 months of discomfort but refer me to , get this : a oncologist !!!! Thanks for reading my 2020 pandemic year fiasco !!!

When you go to visit Dr Lans, its never for a fun reason. But....for such an miserable procedure, the personnel that are there are FANTASTIC! The nurses that I started with were great. So friendly and patient with me because I am a big sissy when it comes to the doctors office. I felt very comfortable the whole time. They were happy and friendly which is not always the case at the doctors office. Then I was wheeled into THE ROOM. Kimber met me and she was awesome. Again, friendly, patient and understanding. I felt like she really cared about me. Dr Lans was friendly, considerate and thorough and explained everything to me before they were going to start. Then came in Gus the anesthesiologist. He was also really great. Because of his great job, he was the last one I remember seeing. When I woke, I was back in the room I started in with the same nice nurses. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr Lans and his office. I think it may have been the best experience Ive ever had in a doctors office.
