Ive been going to CR Smiles / Signature Dental for almost three years, now (before that, my dental was military). I absolutely love the staff and how friendly and kind they are and I always look forward to seeing them. Dr. Kooyman is an outstanding dentist and friendly as well; hes knowledgeable about every procedure Ive had done, and he makes a trip to the dentist less formidable. While I still dont ~love~ going to the dentist, hes given me many reasons to smile (pun intended).

My appointment was very disappointing to me. I was to have my teeth cleaned, get 6 new rubber rings on my denture and have my cavity dealt with. No one bothered to tell me that the cavity issue would have to be done at another appointment time until I asked why they were letting me go without dealing with the cavity. Also, I had told them that All the rubber rings were to be replaced and they only replaced 4 of the 6.During the teeth cleaning Brooke used the metal tool on my upper gum line. (I ware dentures so there were no teeth to clean) what she was doing hurt me. She did stop when I told her that she needed to tell people what she was doing, before she did it

Julie was great at getting me in (patient as a saint with my work schedule I should add) and Brooke provided a spectacular experience for me in the chair. What a great team and terrific overall experience. THEY CARE!!!

Had the best experience at a dentist at this place so far in my life. I’m 29 and have always dreaded seeing the dentist for some irrational fear sprouting in my childhood. The staff was kind, humorous, light hearted, and seemed to genuinely care about my well being and comfort - from the beginning to the end. At every step of my experience, it was professional, but also compassionate. Because of this, and the nice and clean and quiet facility, my anxiety was well managed, if not completely consoled!I will certainly trust these professionals with cleanings and any potential work on my sons teeth as well.(I also tried nitrous for the first time...which I highly recommend for anyone who finds having work done on their chompers to be a bit intimidating.)

CR Smiles has been such a great experience for getting any dental work done. 5 star isnt a normal rating these days! But, CR Smiles I used temporarily, for a dental appointment. I was not able to get into my dentist for 3 weeks. With that one appt I left my long time dentist. Staff is terrific! As well as the Dr. Even better pricing. State of the art dental work. Very knowledgeable! I can get accurate insurance info quickly. I recommend this office.

I have needed an implant for 3 years, but could not afford the quotes I received at many other dentists around Boise. I did not want to sacrifice quality so I worried that I needed to spend more “to get better” care; then I found Signature Dental. Amazingly priced and totally painless, I had my implant procedure and it has been a cake walk experience. I was terrified of the procedure but the dental assistant, Cassy, totally took care of me, she understood and helped make the experience a total breeze. The rest of the staff are also very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. Then there is the Dentist, who was the best dentist EVER. He is skilled, confident, caring, calm and really “down to earth.” He really cares and is very, very skilled, a totally painless dentist. Love them all! I have NEVER in my life been to a better dentist—and I am 62. Dr. Kooyman makes you feel relaxed and he’s very gentle. The whole staff is amazing! I broke an old old crown and was leaving for an emergency trip this weekend. They got me in on the same day to my amazement. Amazing staff! Dental hygienist Karisa was amazing!!! I also took my almost 2 year old in for her first visit (first time ever not going to a specialized pediatric dentist-mom of 5). It was an amazing experience for her and she actually laid in the chair for the whole exam. All the staff was great professional, it was the first time I didnt feel like I was going to a mechanic and being talked into repairs.

Great first appointment! Everyone was so friendly and non judgmental... I have had a bad experience before else where making me anxious about the dentist. I dont go as often as I should. Signature Dental has been our dentist for a long time. We have always had courteous and proper service. Today I had a crown come off. I called and they had me in within 3 hours. They put my crown back on and I was out the door within less than 1/2 hour. Very good service.

I have been a patient here for about 5 years and won’t go anywhere else! Great service and clean atmosphere. I feel like family and there are never any guilt trips if I slack off on flossing. I recommend Signature Dental to everyone.

Yesterday was my first visit to Signature Dental. I had a broken molar and was able to get in pretty quickly with time allotted for the repair. I had a great experience - the staff was so pleasant. Dr. Kooyman is very professional and dilligent. I like that this is a no frills dental office. I agree that the atmosphere is calming, and I feel like it is up to me what work I can afford to have done or not. There is no pushiness.

I have never had a bad experience with Dr. Kooyman or any of his staff. I have anxiety with dental work - any of it. I have been with Dr. Kooyman for four years now and I am the calmest Ive ever been with my visits. I have Brooke as my hygienist and love her kindness, friendliness and encouragement.

I just had the best experience having my teeth cleaned. Karynn was very thorough and I can tell she is a perfectionist when it comes to her job. But what I really liked was the fact that she asked me questions to really understand everything about what my current routine is and where I could improve. she even went so far as to find out how I felt about some of the chemicals on the market for mouth wash and other treatments. She described the equipment they use there and why it is so nice to have state of the art tools in the office for patients. I really felt I was getting the best possible treatment. At the end of the appointment she and Dr. Kooyman came up with a great plan for me to really keep on top of my dental health. I was very impressed with the visit. I will recommend Signature dental in the future.

Freaking awesome dentist

The front staff was completely unprofessional. I was signed up for a plan that was not covered under my insurance. Due to their lack of communication I discovered I was being charged more for what I knew my insurance covered. Upon discovering this and asking questions I asked to be opted out of this plan and to do what was covered by my insurance. They acted so inconvienced and how dare I ask questions. As a patient I have every right to opt in or out of any services. I have the right to ask any questions regarding insurance, and what I as a patient am responsible for. If you are incapable or not competent enough to answer them that is a staffing and professional issue. Bad patient care. I work with patients every day and this was an appalling experience.

Dr. Kooyman and staff are a great bunch of people. Ive been going there many years, as well as my kids, and we have been well taken care of for our dental needs. My youngest had to had some teeth pulled to make room before getting braces. Dr. Kooyman was very gentle with him, explaining in great detail the difference between pain and pressure and really put my boy at ease. Their office is friendly and I would recommend it to any of my friends.

This is the BEST dental office in the Treasure Valley! We are so thankful that a friend told us about Signature Dental 7 years ago. Dr. Kooyman and the staff always make my family feel very comfortable. My son has sensory issues, but you would never know it observing him getting a filling or a tooth pulled by Dr. Kooyman. They are so good with him. He enjoys getting his teeth cleaned and is bummed when he is told he has to wait 6 months to come back in and see them. I had an infected tooth that needed extracted. We opted for bone graft and implantation. After the first step of the operation I was in immense pain the entire time for over a month. I made a visit back to see if complications were happening from the surgery. I even point to the “pimple” fistula above the area Dr Koyner performed the procedure. He shrugged it off as no big deal and did a basic X-ray and tapping of the teeth and said I’m fine. Tried to charge me for the visit which I disputed and thought was outrageous. Another month or so goes by I’m still in excruciating pain so I see a different dentist for a second opinion. I point out the fistula to my new dentist and they immediately notice the infection and why I’ve been In pain. Koyner was not only negligent in this but he was negligent in treating my fistula from the start. Dentists must be sure to locate the root or roots causing the fistula as it can be two teeth causing it. Koyner didn’t do this and his negligence to ignore my pain afterwards is unacceptable. The surgery performed on me was done in a way not all proper steps were taken. I do not recommend this place for any complex dental work. They may only be good at basic care, beware.

I went and saw Dr. Kooyman August 2017 for a filling. Once he completed the procedure, I was having issues and had to go back so he could adjust the bite. When I went back the next day, he mentioned that he had to pull a tiny fragment that was left behind from the day befores filling (not a good thing in my opinion). He adjusted the bite. I decided to have them do my cleaning where they found two cavities. I went at the end of September to do the first one. I couldnt afford to do them both at once, so I scheduled the next one for October. I had been in pain for the whole month, thinking it was just the cavity getting worse. Once I went to get my cavity filled, I told them about my pain. He took an x-ray and said that maybe I didnt get all the bacteria out and you could have pulpitis. He suggested I wait a few weeks to see if the pain went away. It didnt, but by that time, he did the second cavity and said that if the throbbing/pain doesnt go away for that, too, he may need to a root canal. I was annoyed at that point because it would have been nice to have an option to either do a filling and see if that works, or just have a root canal. Again, I didnt have insurance so I had to budget for everything. Because the pain did not go away, I decided to go my old dentist where, when they took an x-ray, asked who did my previous filling. They said it wasnt done right at all. Apparently the filling should be flat and flesh against the tooth. Dr. Kooyman missed most of the cavity and because of that, bacteria keeps entering my mouth. He said that I will probably need a root canal, but they didnt do root canals on back molars. I have since went to two other dentist who said the same thing about the quality of the previous filling. That it was none done correctly at all. Now, 4 months later I can finally get my root canal done, but was very disappointed that the filling was done bad from the beginning. I had seen Dr. Kooyman before and felt he did a great job, but my experience afterwards was not the same.

Office is more interested in selling new dentistry than taking care of their patients. I have paid thousand for dental work for my mother, including a dental implant and shes had problems since the work was completed. Office doesnt seem to care about making it right but are quick to suggest other work she should have done. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning to Signature Dental and wouldnt suggest it to my worst enemy.
