My midwife, Beth, was PERFECT! She was calming, helpful, and so sweet! Delivery was amazing and one hundred percent better here than at a traditional hospital, where I had my first born. The only thing I warn you on and the only reason I took away two stars was because of their billing protocols. My baby is 1 year old and we are still dealing with billing nightmares. They promised $5k for total cost and billed insurance 3 times for more than the totaled $5k- $5k, $2.5k, and $558. Part of the reason they have been so slow is because they were in the middle of changing and cleaning up the old billing department (thank goodness) so I try to think reasonably on this. I am hopeful about their new billing department however, they really seem to know their stuff and I think that will help big time. Long story short, I truly feel like the owners or whoever was previously handling the money, were being dishonest by tacking on those surprise charges and not adjusting the discounted per insurance portion (which Im working with the new department to fix, fingers crossed!) I was dual covered with good private insurances, and somehow owed thousands more than I did with my daughter who I had at a hospital, with only one insurance (which is now my secondary). They forgot to bill my secondary completely for the first office charge (even though they said they have tried) my insurance said they never received the claims. They had my insurance information wrong when verifying my information for one of the first ever calls to their billing department which showed me how incompetent that individual was. He was friendly, just obviously knew little about insurance. Hopefully with the new department in place, women can continue to have amazing birthing experiences without hassling or stressing over the billing! No new mama should have to deal with all of that.

The midwives here really know what they are doing! All of them are so friendly and knowledgeable and not pushy at all! They answered all my questions and soothed all my fees 6 as a first time mom. They were great anything giving me information so I could make the decisions and feel empowered in my birth experience. In such a frustrating time with COVID I felt like that all went away and I was able to have exactly the birthing experience I wanted. 10/10 would recommend!

Such a wonderful experience. This was my second time going to this birthing center, and if I have another, I will be going again! To comment about the people complaining about price, the website is very well put together, and up front about costs. I can also say that ALL my wishes and requests were honored, including anything related to covid, whichwould never ever happen in a hospital environment where they seem to own you. Also, both times I have gone to the birth centerI have only had A WONDERFUL experience with all staff.

I ended up switching to New Beginnings Birth Center right at the beginning of my 3rd Trimester, It was the beginning of June and my due date was 8/31/20. I was originally scheduled to deliver at St. Luke’s Downtown, but after taking Kyndal May’s “Confident Birthing” Course & learning more about the Hospital guidelines during COVID-19, I decided to explore other options.*As I side not I highly recommend “Confident Birthing”— for any women wanting to learn more about birth, your options, & how to navigate your way as more than just a number through the US maternal care system!)I was a first time mom so everything about birth was new & a bit daunting to me. Switching at 28 weeks, I had already developed a good relationship with my doctor, and I was worried about having to “start from scratch” in developing new relationships. On my first appointment, I remember being so scared— what was I doing switching this late in the game? Was I even strong enough to deliver my first born naturally? But as I met with the Midwives, (I had the purest of joy getting to work with Beth, Wallene, Katy, Rachel and the fabulous student midwives who are learning by their side) all the worry subsided. I asked these women 50+ questions in total over my final trimester, and each time I was met with not only reassuring responses but research. These women patiently answered every single one of my questions, sometimes well into 45 minutes passed the typical 30 min appointment time. I never once was seen as another number, but instead met with all the comfort, compassion & reassurance I needed. To save some time in sharing my experience, I’ll share some key points on why I decided to go with New Beginnings.- I wanted to have my husband AND a support person there for the both of us. This was HUGE because due to COVID-19, Doula’s weren’t allowed in the hospital and having a doula provided such support for me during birth.- I learned that the doctor I had built such a good relationship with, would only be there to “catch” the baby, and that I would be laboring with new staff coming in as shifts changed.- I wanted to have an intimate space. I wanted to feel supported & respected in all my decisions— I wanted specifics for the birth space I envisioned, I wanted to know who would be in the room, what they would be doing, how would they be supporting me in addition to the smaller details of being able to control what labor coping tools I would use & what the room would feel like.- I didn’t want any forced intervention, I knew that being a first time mom, I felt vulnerable being the only person (aside from my husband) to speak up for what I wanted. I educated myself and learned that natural births in the hospital are rarely come by, and I didn’t want to have to fight for what I wanted, instead I wanted to feel supported in what I wanted.- I had heard so many traumatic birth experiences within the hospital, that I knew I wanted something different.Fast forward to my actual birth experience and I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing & the postpartum care afterwards, was a gift sent from heaven itself. I am so so thankful for New Beginnings Birth Center, and I genuinely hope more women will be able to experience the support from these women & the empowering strength that comes from delivering a child naturally. You CAN do this Mamas!

Absolutely disappointing. Came from out of town to do a consultation after being referred to show up and them tell me Im not allowed to bring my toddler due to COVID. How Dare you tell me my family is not allowed. Do you expect people to find a baby sitter while in labor? Not have there family with them? So if labor took 24-36 hours your not allowed to have your child that is breastfeeding? SHAME ON YOU. We will be finding a better Birthplace and people that put familys first. Ill make sure the midwife that referred me will no longer refer to this facility.

Horrible experience. We were interested in using a birthing center for our first child and came here first. The midwife who gave us our tour was really friendly and answered a lot of our questions. They were concerned about a few risk factors though and wanted some info from my girlfriends last doctors appointment to make sure we would be eligible as clients. So, we made sure to have that sent to them. This is where it went downhill. Waleen I believe her name was called my girlfriend and she missed the call because she was with her friend. She called back 2 minutes later and was met with a very disrespectful receptionist. Waleen finally answered and said some more disrespectful comments about my girlfriend to the receptionist thinking that she couldnt hear her. Finally, she starts talking to my girlfriend. This begins about 20 minutes of Waleen talking over my girlfriend, being very condescending and letting her know they couldnt take her as a client. It was perfectly fine that they couldnt take us as clients, we understand. But, the attitude we were met with was horrible. Absolutely unprofessional. We were furious after the call (we finally just hung up on her mid sentence because we couldnt get a word in) my girlfriend was in tears. I couldnt believe that a medical professional could act like that towards a client. Do not recommend at all. Dont be pulled in by the very friendly midwives. I feel like we dodged a bullet.

My husband and I highly recommend New Beginnings! My prenatal appointments were very informative and allowed us to make informed decisions throughout my pregnancy, birth and postnatal. The birth rooms are like spa rooms and I felt such a sense of comfort and safety when I arrived at the birth center in labor. I loved that my wishes for birth were honored and I never had to question that they would support me to have a natural, normal and peaceful birth. All the staff became like family to us. Even my husband said (who was a little hesitant at first with out of hospital birth), “These Midwives really know what they are doing!”

Its been a year since I had my first baby here and first of all the birth itself was amazing. I received great care throughout the whole pregnancy as well. But it didnt end there. The information I received through classes and my appointments here have made being a first time mom so much easier. Ive been able to breastfeed this whole year and we are still going strong! I attribute that in part to the amazing class I attended on the subject. I feel like I was so much more confident through this first year because of this place. I am so thankful for New Beginnings and the amazing staff.

I had my two children here, one in 2012, and another in 2014. Both experiences were wonderful. Rachel, the midwife I had, put me completely at ease in our first appointment and answered every question I had. They are very caring and easy to talk with. I felt respected, loved, and valued, as did my husband. I knew they had the safety of my baby and I as their top priority, as well as making everything as comfortable for me as possible. I am so grateful I was able to have my children here! The rooms and bathtubs are all very comfortable and there is an atmosphere of calm throughout the whole building. A safe, connected, and sacred space to bring babies into the world.

I recently had my firstborn son here and cannot sing the praises enough. I felt so empowered and safe to let my body do what it was meant to do through the whole process of labor and delivery. Midwives Kellie and Sarah were quick to act whenever something did not go as planned. I dont think a natural low intervention birth would have been possible had I been anywhere else. My prenatal and postnatal care was phenomenal as well. Prenatal visits were never rushed and all the midwives and students payed attention to every pregnancy ailment I had to complain about that particular week. They always did their best to help me get more comfortable throughout pregnancy. Their attention getting to know me (as well as my husband), baby, and our bodies definitely helped during my labor and delivery to keep my son and I safe and healthy. Postnatal the midwives have been just as attentive through a difficult first week of healing. I received several home visits and it was a relief to know who the on call midwife was whenever I had to call the on call number. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful my experience has been and how grateful I am for the care my son, husband, and I have received.

Ive had 3 of my children here. The experience was amazing. After having 2 hospital births, with two different doctors, I was seeking something new. I was not happy with either of my hospital births, so I sought out something different. The first birth center birth I had here was an absolutely life-changing moment in my life. I never thought it was possible to have a truly awesome pregnancy, labor, and delivery. The midwives are so loving, honest, and gentle. They spend time with you, they get to know you, and they understand your wants, needs, and concerns. The care we received was far superior than anything I received in the hospital, and much more comfortable and relaxing. I believe everyone has a right to a happy, healthy delivery, and we definitely found that at New Beginnings. We are done having children now, but I continue my standard well-women care here and will continue to do so.

Wouldn’t recommend it. Was so excited to have a birthing center in Twin Falls. At the initial meeting I asked about insurance and they said they take ours. Went to two visits with them and found out it’s not covered by our insurance and we’d have to pay their $5,000 “global fee” which includes all prenatal, birth, and post natal visits. If we had to transfer to hospital during birth, we’d have to pay their fee plus what the hospital charges. Also at two visits, the midwife (Beth) was unfriendly and unprofessional. On two different occasions I witnessed her chewing out her assistants for minor things (like moving a paper from the printer to the counter). This is just the tip of the iceberg. Didn’t make me feel like I had the right person for a calm birthing experience. After the combination of fees and not great service, we decided to discontinue service. They charged us over $800 for two prenatal visits! Just regular visits not including ultrasounds or bloodwork. Called to see why two visits would account for almost one fifth of total cost of care. Dex, the Financial Director said he’d call me back and never did.

Incredibly relaxing rooms and environment even for being a birth center. Awesome being classes to be prepared and they believe in parental choice. They believe in natural births, but use a variety of methods to help with pain, including water birth, country pressure, and varied positions. The mid wives, student assistants, and other staff are all amazing! They even come out to your house two times AFTER the birth for baby and mommy check ups. Wow! Id say, hands down better than the hospital. Dont take my word for it, at up an appointment. Open later on Thursdays for people that cant do day appointments. I loved it here! I had my first child at a hospital then the second and third at the center. The difference was like night and day! The appointments where very informative and to the point, they gave a lot of valuable advice regarding pregnancy and made me very comfortable with bringing up any questions and concerns. Everything during labor was catered to my needs as not to disrupt the birthing process(no extra check ups, ultrasounds, questioning). There was only advice given on ways to help the process go better(good positions, avoid any phone calls to let hormones to their job etc.). They did not do anything extra to the babies(no poking, prodding, scrubbing... Which resulted in them having beautiful, pimple/acne free skin!). The rooms are very relaxing and midwives are knowledgable and calming. The process felt very natural, right, and amazing! I will be back again in a little while! ;)

I loved my experience at New Beginnings Birth Center from start to finish! Initially I was nervous to give birth outside of the hospital. I took a tour of the center, and asked lots of questions about worst case scenarios. They answered all of my questions honestly and told me exactly how they would handle each of the scenarios I presented to them. The initial interview and tour took away most of my anxiety. However, what sealed the deal was going in for my first appointment and every appointment there after. They were extremely knowledgable and very professional.I have given birth to both of my children here and plan on giving birth to the rest of them here. Both birth experiences were amazing. The rooms and amenities make you feel relaxed and right at home. The thing I love most is that it is all about what you want and what you prefer. After you give birth to your child they give you time to bond. Every test was done in either my arms or my husbands arms.Another thing that I loved is that when it comes to medical procedures, or labs the midwives would present me with a packet of information so that I was well educated on the pros, cons and risks involved. I was then able to make an informed decision about whether or not I wanted a certain test, shot or whatever it was done. They were never pushy and let me lead the way.I would highly recommend New Beginnings Birth Center!

The facility and midwives are excellent - but the owner Kyle lead us to believe one thing and delivered another in regards to insurance and cost of services. If you can pay cash and completely avoid the owner you will have a good experience, do not give them your insurance DONT DO IT. They will over bill your insurance (l was accidentally mailed one l totaling $100k) and Kyle will send passive aggressive emails demanding payment after you have already paid in full. Promised one thing, delivered another... isn’t that the definition of hipocracy?Do not go here. EVER.

I have a lot of good to say about this place, only a little bad but it was a big bad. So I LOVE the midwives here they were kind and honest. They treated me up to pregnancy then after with home visits, etc... I highly recommend this place for those looking for a natural birth if you have the financial means. They arent overly priced but we were struggling with finances and honestly would have to skip a month or more at a time. When I was 37 weeks pregnant the owner told me they would no longer see me if I couldnt pay 500 dollars that day. I had to borrow it from my mother and it left me feeling unwanted for that he would turn me away for being 1 1/2 months late when I was almost due. Awesome care, horrible management.

Update (7/18): We now have had 3 of our children there and feel like the service and professionalism gets better every time! Baby #4 was a very different birth and had some unexpected events associated with it, but the midwives were calm and still safely delivered our baby despite unforeseen issues during the delivery (not visible during the pregnancy). The midwives were extremely caring throughout the whole pregnancy and right at the very end I had labor that kept coming/going and I spent 3 different nights going down, spending the night and going home (we live 1.5 hours away). They were looking out for my health and babys health the whole time. Our baby girl is super healthy and we look forward to have more future babies there!A word on management: We have seen improvements in the overall services get better every single pregnancy (remember Ive had 3 babies here and 1 at this location before the new owners took over). Their payment plan is super simple and for those who use healthcare sharing (Samaritan, Medishare, etc), it is unbelievably easy to get it covered and paid for in advance. I will admit when we had insurance it was difficult to get it paid for, but thats because traditional insurance loves hospital... everything and all alternative medicines are shunned and you have to haggle with them on (exactly why we dont have traditional health insurance anymore), but I have no doubt that New Beginnings would try as best as possible to make your situation work despite annoying insurance companies, but it does take work to get those insurance companies to abide and pay for those things. FYI as it stands right now (7/18) it is $4000 for the whole pregnancy and you pay monthly at $500/month. Your babys health is important so paying on time needs to be apart of your budget and if you need to put it on credit cards so be it, but you need to make it a point to pay them on time. This is not a major hospital that has millions of dollars at its disposal and can take people not paying on time or not at all. This is a small family-owned birthing center that is doing a phenomenal job providing a birthing experience outside of the hospital with very well trained, professional midwives. This is why they need to be paid on time on their payment plan.We have had 2 of our children at New Beginnings (Sept 2015). What a blessing they are available to serve those who choose not to have a hospital birth. Everything went smoothly, no problems. Clean, home feeling facility, quick service for appointments and 24/7 phone line in case there are issues. You cannot ask for better midwives. Very professional and a joy to be around. Highly recommend them. This is not the same midwives or ownership as The Baby Place, so please do not listen to any reviews from those negative people, we went to The Baby Place (which we had a very positive experience there as well) with our first baby and now it is owned by a completely different owner and the midwives are all different. It is wrong for people to comment on this business as the Baby Place, just because it is in the same building, this is New Beginnings Birth Center.

If I could give zero stars I would. This is one of many outlets where I will be airing my grievance with this facility. I highly recommend that no one ever use this facility or their services. Sabrina and I had a terrible experience with their owner Kyle. When we first started at New Beginnings we were so excited. It felt like home, and it was the facility where my first daughter was born. We were excited to have a birthcenter experience. Unfortunately over the years, ownership changed hands. And obviously this has not been a good change. We were told by several staff members that they accept all kinds of insurance including Medicaid. Sabrina didn’t get insurance until the first of the year so I had been paying them cash on a payment schedule for their global fee. We were told several times that once they got our insurance information they would bill insurance for their global fee and reimburse what we had paid in cash. Well, after Sabrina got her insurance in place we found out that the facility didn’t accept her insurance, and in order for them to bill her backup Medicaid insurance for their fees they would have to go through a lengthy process and they told us it could take Medicaid up to 6 months to pay them. So this birth center actually asked us to continue to pay them cash while they went through the process of billing Medicaid, and then 6 months later when Medicaid paid them that they would reimburse us what we paid the birthcenter. UNBELIEVABLE!! Never in my life have I had a healthcare provider ask me to pay them the full price of their services while their office bills insurance with the hope that I get reimbursed on the back end 6 months later!! Wow! We’re talking just shy of $5000 here... Anyhow- Kyle is the one responsible for their billing apparently. He was impossible to ever get ahold of. We emailed several times and would get late responses or no response at all. When we did get responses to our financial inquiries, it was with information that we didn’t ask for or that did not apply to our situation. We get like we were not being listened to at all. Finally, Sabrina and I decided to take our business elsewhere. Once we informed the birth center that we were no longer using their services, we asked several times to get a detailed breakdown of services rendered and a billing statement. We wanted to know if we would be owing more money, or getting a partial refund. After days of no response from Kyle, I called the office to once again ask for them to send us an itemized statement. The gal I spoke to said that Kyle would have to do that. I told her that Kyle had not been responding to email, and asked her if it would be better for us to come down to the office to get records. She said no and that she would have Kyle get in touch with us. Later that evening- we got a response from Kyle by email and were SHOCKED at his response. He literally threatened me and my pregnant fiancé that if we came down to their office that he would call the police and have us escorted off their premises!! All we did was ask for billing statements!! I can not believe how we were treated here by Kyle. I give this facility 0 stars for unprofessionalism that I have never seen before by a healthcare provider, and flat out unethical billing practices. DO NOT GO TO NEW BEGINNINGS. Not the same place it used to be!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! My family & I recently moved to Idaho from Utah when we found out we were expecting our third baby. I had used midwives at a birth center with my previous 2 pregnancies/births, so I started looking for a midwife. I interviewed two midwives before I came across New Beginnings & decided to check them out. I met with a midwife there & I got excited that I had found a midwife I felt connected with. I set up a prenatal appointment for a couple weeks later. During that time I was informed by the owner, Kyle Smith, that I would have to pay $3900 to use their services, etc. This is how he broke it down: their global care of cost is $4500, my deductible is $1500 & the baby’s deductible is $1500 so that was $3000 plus my co-insurance was 20% so he took 20% of $4500 & got the extra $900, totaling $3900. (As a side note, that’s NOT how you calculate co-insurance. It’s 20% of the global care, minus the deductible, so $4500-$3000=$1500, 20% of that is $300.) My husband had called our insurance company (BCBS) previous to this & found out the baby would be covered under my deductible for the first 60 days. We informed Kyle of this & he flat out told us that was wrong & he has never heard of that in his entire 6 years of doing this. We continued to go back & forth with Kyle & BCBS. Every time either my husband or I talked with BCBS, they told us baby was covered under mom’s deductible. We even conference called Kyle in & he was told the same thing, but he refused to listen. This went on for a month & a half! In the meantime, I went to my prenatal visit, they took 3 vials of blood for testing, did the usual prenatal visit & thats it. After telling Kyle we weren’t going to pay more than we should, he suggested we find a new midwife. So that’s exactly what we did! I called New Beginnings to let them know I was transferring care, they gave me a copy of my records & I thought that was the end of it. Oh no, a week later I received a bill from them for $925!! That’s $925 for a single visit. On the bill I was charged $450 for the prenatal visit, $250 for an extended prenatal visit (it went longer than an hour…like I had control over that!), & then labs, which I’m fine paying for, but I had already paid a $250 non-refundable deposit & I thought it would be enough to cover my one visit. I will say that I was warned about Kyle before I even stepped foot in his birth center. I was told that he was very deceptive, a crook, someone even called him evil, a criminal & a conman. I didn’t think it would come to this big of an issue & I definitely should have listened to those who warned me of using his services. I really hope by posting this, I can steer other women & families away from going through what we have been.As I read your response, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes because what you said shows exactly who you are: evasive, unprofessional. First, you didn’t specifically hire a third party insurance professional to work with us. In your email you clearly stated that they “handle the claims submission of all our clients with insurance”. And “all those professionals” that worked with us, all but one (the one you hired) was on our side. The “hours & hours” that you spent on our behalf were just a waste because you wouldn’t listen to anyone & it felt like you thought you were the only one with all the facts. It wasn’t about the cost of care, in fact the midwife we have now hired charges just as much as you do, & she’s out of network, but that’s okay because we trust her, she’s not out to just make money, but rather support me through pregnancy & the birth of our baby. For us, it was that you were difficult to work with, there was no way of getting around anything you said & it became too political.I will agree that midwives do provide more than double the amount of personalized care; that’s one of the main reasons why I chose to give birth using a midwife! I love midwives & what they stand for!! This has NOTHING to do with midwives! My review is solely based on working with you, the owner, & your dishonesty in the industry.
