If you want cheap glasses. And I mean cheap..go for it....my glasses lasted 2 months., before needed replacement. I called for assistance on prescription. Was told they are not supposed to release that info. Then gave me numbers without looking anything up...29,30...I remember numbers being in 50sNot being local anymore, I guess I got screwed..

So I set aside my entire Saturday just to look for glasses and had planned to go to a few places, this was my first stop. I didnt go anywhere else that day because I had already found affordable frames that I liked. I went back a couple hours later for an exam, the doctor is very knowledgeable and the exam is very thorough.

WHY would Jay the owner have such an incompetent optometrist(Mr. Smith) working with him? Are you desperate Jay? Cant callMr. Smith a Doctor...hes incompetent, unprofessional and rude.You should be ashamed as a business owner to allow him to keep the exam room such a mess and the equipment is outdated like him. He couldnt even seem to give an exam without rolling his eyes and making rude comments to us. REALLY?? And no patience whatsoever.Anybody would get a better exam at Wal-Mart. Its a bad choice for partnering up with Mr. Smith...youll continue to risk losing more business because of him (you lost mine and any referrals).Was there on a Saturday and only ONE other customer was there and that person even suggested going somewhere else for an exam because they were aware of Mr. Smiths incompetence as well. I am sure we would NOT have received a proper exam from him.If this review saves one person from being treated unprofessionally and dealing with such incompetence for an eye exam then I succeeded.There are so many other quality places out there for an exam.Unfortunately, Valuespecs is not one of them.

Simply the best! I have made the rounds of all the chain eyeglass places in my area and did not realize what poor quality they were until I had my glasses made at Value Specs. The quality of his work is amazing. I never realized this is how I was supposed to see with glasses. The prices without my insurance ( they do not accept insurance) is a fraction of what I pay WITH my insurance at the other places. There was a particular sunglass lense I wanted and Jay, the owner, called many of his vendors until he got it for me at a really great price, saving me about $200 on the glasses. I wear progressives and his prices can not be beat. A great selection of frames at many price points. No pressure, no sales pitch. Fast turn around time.Its the only place me and my husband go now. And if you have a drawer of orphaned old eyeglasses that you cant see out of anymore, his price to change the lense is too good to be true, but is. And everyone there is very helpful, patient and kind.

The exam was very thorough with excellent chair side manner. Then we were directed to a reasonable priced selection of frames, prices included the lenses. The customer service was excellent with no sales pressure. Unfortunately six stars is not an option. We are very satisfied and will be repeat customers as well as spreading the word to our friends and family.

The shop is quaint but a staple here in Margate. Jay and the crew have been the go-to guys for glasses. I was referred by one of my sisters. Today was my 1st visit and cant express enough how welcoming, professional and friendly the Owner (Jay) and his staff were. The comprehensive eye test (with a funny sense of humor) was impressive. As you know getting your vision tested can be a little intimidating. The friendly nature of Dr. Smith made it very comfortable to sit thru. Enjoyed it so much that I am definitely coming back with my children to have them checked as well. Will definitely refer Jay, Dr. Smith and their staff to my family and friends.

Seriously one of the funniest people Ive ever met, and Im not 100% sure hes trying to be.Last, but not least - my childcare plan fell through last minute and I had to go through an eye exam and picking out glasses with two little kids. The entire staff was so gracious about it.

My family has been going here for years. Jay recently fixed a pair of glasses for my husband in a an emergency, and he did it in less than five minutes. They always have great pricing and are very friendly, and a large selection of frames. I recommend anyone to got there for their optical needs.

After going to two other shops that were covered by my vision insurance, Valuespecs still charged me $100 less on my rimless progressive lenses without directly accepting insurance. Jay has done small repairs on my frames without charging me a cent and using materials that he has laying around the shop. Their five star rating is well deserved in an industry that seems to overcharge in billing and underwhelm in service.

Ive never have been a fan of going to the eye doctor. If I do go its out of necessity and usually to one of the big chains. I decided to change that a few years ago and went to a local optometrist and sadly I left with a not so great experience. So I avoided going back until I went out of town and broke my glasses.Not wanting to go back to that other place I decided to come here instead. There is something genuinely great about Valuespecs. Dr Smith took the time to give me one the most informed eye exams I have ever had. Ive been wearing glasses for most of my life and I have never had an optometrist treat me with as much respect as Dr Smith did. He actually​ takes the time to explain what hes doing and it makes a huge difference in the whole experience.Purchasing a pair of glasses was great too. Everything was laid out up front as far as pricing for frames and lenses and add ons. Jay did not try to upsell on anything. I got a pair of glasses I felt I wanted at a fair price and not something someone tried to sell me on. I will be back and I am referring as many people as I can to come here.

Lost my glasses about a week ago my wife found valuespecs on Google. The eye doctor had mixed reviews however I found him to be pleasant with a somewhat bizarre sense of humor that made me feel comfortable. Not to mention he comes from the three family generation in his trade. I went in the store on a Monday afternoon late after work received my new progressive lens eyeglasses in 2 business days. As far as the staff goes the best! Jay was very knowledgeable the entire staff was sweet as can be the girls help me pick out frames that look good on me . Best of all I paid less than half of what it cost for my last pair progressive lenses are generally expensive cuz theres no lines. I will never go anywhere else for eyeglasses and would highly recommend this establishment for anybody who needs them thanks Jay!

I WENT IN AND WAITED FOR THE DOCTOR TO GET IN AND WHEN HE FINALLY GOT THERE I SSKED IF HE COULD CHANGE THE BRAND TO ANOTHER? HE WOULDNT EVEN TALK TO ME I GOT ANGRY AND FOR NO REASON CALLED THE POLICE! PEOPLE BRWARE THIS DOCTOR IS A SICK MAN!!

Jay is very decent and honest in dealing with clients. When an expensive frame I bought from his store kept breaking and all subsequent replacement frames also fell apart, he made it right by offering to replace lenses in two pairs of glasses with a future prescription. My lenses are progressives made with polycarbonate, so they are not cheap either. He has stayed true to his word and I am very impressed by his ethics. He also paid for a second exam with a different optometrist two years ago, after the one who works out of his store wrote me a bad prescription and refused to re-examine me. It turned out that my prescription needed to be twice as strong and with astigmatism correction for both eyes. He was kind enough to take the loss out of his own pocket so that the old guy would get paid, rather than have me dispute the charge for the useless exam with my credit card bank. That is the most important thing when dealing with people-always try to do the right thing.

Definitely a great place to buy glasses, which is why I keep coming back!
