First steps itself is helpful. However that is once you finally get ahold of them. It seems like even with a referral from the pediatrician, you still have to jump through hoops, and keep getting turned in circles. My oldest needed speech therapy a few years back which was successful with him, but from the first referral to the beginning of his therapy it was months upon months to get there. Now my youngest son is needing the same. The referral was made a month ago. We had an appointment for his initial testing today. I got the time of this appointment wrong. My fault yes. However I do think like any other Dr. office they should call a couple days ahead to remind. Every Dr office we use does this. I’m a mom of two with school beginning. Moms get hectic and forgetful at times. Those reminders truly help. Anyways I call the office and the woman on the phone immediately had an edge to her voice. No “hello, good morning, this is...”. Nothing professional. Just “first steps” with a snip in her voice. I proceeded to ask about the time of my sons appointment where she informed me that it was at 9. Yes I missed it. However the rudeness from her was not the way to handle the phone call. Then says okay and hangs up without discussing a make up time or any other info. I did find that to be a bit unsettling and extremely unprofessional. These are our children, and their development. We want the best for them which includes nice, helpful employs no matter what department they’re working.
Never heard from them after the referral was made. When i reached out, they had the wrong number for me. Set up an appointment only to get a letter saying i missed my appointment set on a different date.
Lady who is answering for the phone calls NOT polite, NOT professional. Coordinator which we are talked is not cooperative, always busy, always late to appointments. I don’t know, do we have other First steps departments nearby?
Helpful and very good result
So hard to get hold of them smh😣😣😣
