I have been going to Lift for about a year now and I’ve had a great experience! As someone who has concerns about injury when it comes to lifting, I really appreciate the focus on correct form and real-time feedback. I also love that it’s an incredibly efficient workout.

This is a long overdue, positive review of Lift. I started coming last Summer during the pandemic. The attention to cleanliness, social distancing etc was fantastic, so I felt safe and comfortable there immediately.I had some physical issues causing me pain, primarily acetabular labral tear in my right hip. My doctor suggested muscle strengthening via weight training and I found Lift on a Google search.I have been going once per week and I have been really happy with my progress. I have been getting stronger and am in significantly less hip pain than I was prior to starting. Its challenging in all the right ways and I look forward to going.Dirk and Chenell are both excellent. They are kind, patient and great teachers. I have always found teacher/trainer correction important in yoga and I value the same at Lift, so Im able to get stronger and not hurt myself. Chenell is also great about reminding me which exercises are which. Youd think Id know by now, but shes always really patient and nice when Im looking at my list of things to do and look super confused, haha.Its also a great atmosphere, no judgement, good music.Thank you, Lift!

Ive been training with Cory Roberts for the last year and I have only amazing things to say about him. Extremely patient and knowledgeable and really focuses on form.Ive been really happy with Lift Silver Lake Personal Training Gym overall, especially this location. Its one of the larger gyms in SF, locker rooms are clean, and staff is really friendly.

Lift is amazing!!! They truly care about their clients and work you hard in every session. I was looking for a down-to-earth personal experience, and that is exactly what they do best. Each session is structured for you and they make sure youre doing every exercise correctly while pushing yourself. If youve been looking for the perfect mix of personal attention, intense workout, and personable trainers, youve found it.

Locker rooms: the locker rooms look pretty new, though a handful of the locks in the womens bathroom look broken. The showers and toilets are clean even when it is busy. A nice big sauna and steam room are in each locker room.

Dirk and Chenelle are not only phenomenal trainers, but great people to work with! My wife and I have been training with them for a little over 2 years and we keep coming back because the results speak for themselves. They are organized, and they keep track of your progress from week to week. Theyre also very efficient and pack a diverse, focused, and often times, entertaining workout. Theyre also really great at accommodating your schedule. If you need to get in shape, go to Lift Silverlake.

Dirk and Chenell at Lift Silverlake are really the best. I have trained with them for probably six years now, and I wouldnt think of training anywhere else. They are passionate about what they do, which organically inspires one to work their hardest to achieve results, and they are also extremely knowledgeable. They also provide a low-key, friendly environment. Scheduling and occasional changes due to work or other things that come up is made easy and flexible. Best private trainers, gym in LA.

Awesome jam packed 30-minute small group workouts. Its basically like having your own personal trainer (and some sessions you actually might even be alone!), but at a super reasonable cost. Great if you dont love hanging out in the gym for hours. Workouts fly by and I end up just as sore (or maybe even more) than when I spend twice as long working out!

I absolutely love Lift - Chenell and Dirk are the best. They do a great job of curating individual work-out programs based on your goals and personal body type in a compact, efficient 30 minute session. Ive always been active, but consistently attending Lift has greatly improved my strength and physique. Also, when I broke my foot this summer, not only did they recommend a great podiatrist but they were also capable of restructuring my regimen so I could maintain my progress without further aggravating my foot. I highly recommend!

I just love how Lift Silverlake is set up in such a way where I can get the most out of a workout in the least amount of time. With Dirk and Chenells training and guidance, my butt has become perkier, and my bat wings flap less. As well, Ive become stronger. Lift Silverlake is a great training space for those who want to see actual results. Theyre also just awesome people!

I have really enjoyed my training with Chenell and Dirk. They have a great setup of small groups working out individually for a short amount of time. Their individualized work out model is great for all levels of fitness, they are constantly changing the plan to make sure that your fitness is progressing. They are also great people, friendly and open and funny too!

Go to chenell and dirk if you want results. They kick your ass in only 30 minutes and you get results fast. Went twice a week for a month and saw a difference, now I don’t want to stop.Definitely the first place/program I’ve wanted to continue. They are kind and understanding and care about your progress. The whole no contract flexibility is perfect for a busy schedule. I really love you guys!!!

I started at Lift a year ago after finding them on google maps, and this gym has changed more than just my body. Specs: Its small, you have your own equipment, and trainers are there with you every step of the way. I lost over 40 lbs of fat, gained so much in muscle, and started seeing big changes after three months of going once to twice a week. The trainers push you without being overbearing and they understand if youre just having a bad day. They even got me (who has never weight trained before) to deadlift 325lbs! I cant say enough good things about this place. Plus, many patrons bring their dogs which just brighten everyones day.

About 4 years ago, I decided that I need to do something in addition to yoga to get strong and to challenge myself in new ways. I found Lift and was immediately pulled in. The workouts are always physically and mentally challenging- it’s astonishing what can be accomplished in 30 minutes of focused and organized training. Dirk and Chenell are dedicated and personable trainers who work together to push me to my next level of fitness. It’s never easy, but it’s always fun somehow and I always leave feeling that I’ve just done something great for myself…and totally energized. I’ve never been as toned and lean as I am with weight training. Lift has become as essential part of my overall physical health and I love the way it makes me look and feel.

Lift Silverlake is everything it claims to be, and is everything all the positive reviews say - until it isnt.Short version - I got abruptly, unceremoniously and unprofessionally dumped by Dirk and Chenell after being a loyal client of theirs for almost 1.5 years.Long version - Ive been a satisfied and loyal Lift client for almost one and a half years, 2 sessions per week. I always paid for my sessions and was always on time (with a few exceptions; as I work in emergency response, I sometimes had to reschedule, but I was never informed that this was a big issue). I listened carefully to Dirk and Chenells suggestions, and was never disruptive or argumentative. I exercised quietly and engaged in friendly conversations with both trainers. Lift was the first gym I really believed in, and the first gym I stuck with for more than a few months. Dirk and Chenell are very knowledgeable in their field, easy to talk to, and dog-friendly which I adored. Their sessions are quick but intense, and I lived very close to the gym. I gave them cards for Christmas, for my one-year anniversary with them, and for Dirks recent back surgery. I cared for them (and their pups Marty and Blue), as I thought theyd cared for me.Last weekend, out of nowhere, I was unable to book online via the MyTime app or website. I texted Chenell a couple of times and left her a voicemail, with no reply (highly unusual since she is normally very responsive). To follow up, I swung by the gym (during normal business hours) and explained to Chenell my issues with their online booking system. Chenell said she never received my texts or my call, but that shed text me later. The text never came.Confused, I tried one more time to resolve the issue by reaching out via email - and this was the reply:We regret to inform you that this is no longer a good fit. We can no longer have you at the gym. We need to insist that you refrain from contacting us, or showing up at the gym. And please do not respond to this email. Best, Dirk & Chenell.Shocked and hurt, I replied to the email, asking for their reasoning behind dropping me as a client. Unsurprisingly, there was no reply.I feel blindsided, disturbed and confused. This has rattled my confidence and my faith in seemingly good & kind people. I truly have no idea what prompted this cold and abrupt ending to our working relationship. There were no arguments, no disagreements - nothing negative stands out in my mind. This came completely out of left field and I feel is a rude and unprofessional way to end a 1.5 year client-trainer relationship.Consider yourself lucky if you have not experienced this yet. Just be prepared to get cut off at some point in the future, without knowing what happened or why.

Ive been going to LIFT Silverlake for a little over a year now and I couldnt be happier. The gym is low key and never crowded, and Dirk and Chenell make everything so easy and personalized (and they text -- literally what more could you want). They give you as much or as little attention as you need (though if you try to get away with only doing half-pull ups, Dirk will give you all of his attention), and they change your routine often enough so you never get too comfortable or lazy. Also, the music is on point, which is almost as important as the workouts. Ive stayed in Silverlake for the last year largely because I cant imagine having to find a new gym in a new neighborhood. Its the best.

I was the girl that took every class and fad and didnt know why I wasnt seeing any changes until I came here. I also thought as a woman if I lifted weights I would bulk up which is so not true, its made me leaner and stronger. As a bonus Chenell and Dirk are the nicest people on the planet you truly care about their clients, I actually look forward to working out now!

Ive been training at Lift for almost 9 months and really loving it. Both Chenell and Dirk are very personable and do a great job motivating. The 30-minute workouts are less than I was used to, but to my surprise, I always feel more worked out after 30 minutes than I previously felt after 60-minute workouts. Its all about efficiency here, and they excel at it. Chenell and Dirk also make it very efficient by having a chart waiting with that days workout and the weights all set up for the first few sets, so that you can start sweating the moment you walk in the door.One of the reasons I waited 9 months to review Lift is because I wanted to make sure results were showing, too, and Im proud to report that I can certainly see positive, noticeable changes in the way I look, feel and sleep. I highly recommend taking the plunge and giving this place a try.

By far this is the best workout I’ve ever had! Chennel and Dirk are super knowledgeable about weight lifting and just super cool people. My goal was to lose weight and basically reshape my body and both of those things have happened since I’ve been going to Lift Silverlake. I’ve dropped about 15 lbs since starting at Lift but more importantly I’ve dropped about 3 - 4 clothes sizes. I’ve developed a lot of muscle, not bulky but lean and curvy. Chennel and. Dirk are very focused on your technique during workouts and make corrections as needed. Workouts are always challenging and never boring. Lift Silverlake has truly become an addiction because it really is the best gym out there.

I’ve been working out at Lift for about a month now. Since I have neck and back issues which are disc related, my doctor recommended I start to incorporate weight training. I didn’t know what to expect since this is my first experience with weight lifting and quite honestly I was very intimidated with process. Dirk and Chenell put me at ease by allowing me time to acclimate to my personal program. Both have continued to push me while respecting my limitations and providing encouragement along the way.They are superb at connecting with each of their clients in a personal way that feels familiar and authentic, which is a rare find in LA.I have started to see changes in my body and am excited to see how they can continue to shape and push me to another level.Bravo, Dirk & Chenell... you guys are amazing!

Cant recommend Lift Silverlake enough. Im a marathoner and yoga person, but a total convert to lifting thanks to Lift. Try it - just try. Never looked or felt better after so little time in the gym compared to other types of workouts.

Started here 3 years ago injured and in terrible shape. It wasnt easy but the work Ive done here with Chenell and Dirk has changed my life. My back and shoulder issues have improved, Ive lost fat and gained muscle. My only regret is that I didnt start sooner.

Discovering Lift Silverlake has been incredible. Chenell and Dirk are great trainers who put together really efficient workouts every day, seriously packing in 60min of training into a 30min session. Everyones attitudes are always happy and positive; i can get intimidated by gyms pretty easily but i felt welcome at Lift right away and perk up every time I walk back through the door. It feels like family in that little gym. Chenell and Dirk are great at guiding and encouraging you without being aggressive. Honestly, my original purpose in coming to Lift was just to learn how to perform lifts correctly and structure workouts then use that info to better workout on my own, but I found that I really love working out at Lift and their workouts are so much more time efficient than what I do on my own that I would rather just train with them as much as possible.

My words will not do Chenell and Dirk justice. PROS: Best workout, best trainer duo, unique routines (never bored!), 30-mins only, affordable training!, text communication (I hate the phone, dont you?), no contracts, inspiring environment with like-minded clients, boutique business (no scary gym), no attitude, no judgement, RESULTS. CONS: None.I found Chenell and Dirk after a lifetime of spin, yoga, bar classes, pilates, you name it, I tried it. Dont get me wrong, I still enjoy all of these but I decided it was time to up my ante after always looking kind of the same. I went in for an intro session and never looked back. I honestly feel cheated I didnt find them sooner.Thank you to Dirk and Chenell for being the absolute highlight of my weeks. And ladies, dont believe the bulk myth. Ive essentially eliminated cardio from my life and have never looked better.
