Asked a simple question and was rudely hung up upon by a neurotic woman named Adriana who claimed to be the supervisor. She was combative, aggressive and unkind. She was entirely lacking in empathy, professionalism, manners and logical sense. The head of Orthopedic Surgery at UCLA had asked me to ask specifically, as my first question before scheduling any appointment with a hip surgeon, whether the surgeon has ever done an anterior approach hip surgery. Adriana did not know the answer, refused to find out the answer and wanted to schedule an appointment to charge insurance hundreds of dollars to answer that simple question necessary per the head of surgery in advance of scheduling. When I insisted on speaking with someone who could answer this simple question, she was abusive, screamed through the phone and ended the call saying this is not the place for you and hung up. I wish you could have heard it. If you did hear it you would cringe.

I came to him with crippling hip pain following surgery by another orthopedic surgeon. He reviewed my records and told me he had good news and bad news. So I asked him what is the good news and he says I don’t have to operate. So I said I’m so what’s the bad news and he said I don’t get operate. He proceeded to give me practical advice and a diagnosis that I could work with. He even published a book on Aquatic exercises for knees and hips to lay out my treatment.

If I could give Dr. Klapper 100 stars, I would!I recently (August 2020) had hip replacement surgery with Dr. Klapper. He is truly in a class of his own. His commitment to patient care and surgical excellence shows in all he does...from the consultation to the days leading up to the surgery to the day of the surgery and to the post op.I have reflected many times on why he is so amazing and successful at what he does. Here is what I concluded:*His “measure twice, cut once” approach leads to pure excellence.*His “requirement” of pre-habbing yourself before surgery sets one up for a quicker and easier recovery.*He truly “walks the walk” when he says that “an old ladies hip is just as important to her as a professional athletes hip is to him...thus, he treats his patients with equal importance.*He insures that his patients receive the best medical care before, during and after surgery, as he works closely with Dr. Kalpari (internist) αnd with the surgical and nursing staff at Cedar Sinai. (BTW, the nurses on the surgical floor think he “is the best”!..they are right!)*He has perfected his technique and he has his patients “in and out” of surgery often in less than an hour....thus reducing odds of infection and surgical complications.*He is passionate about what he does...and it shows in all he does and with those professionals that he includes on his team.*He explains very logically to the “weekend warrior” that they can indeed play/do an high impact/competitive sport no matter their age...they just need to balance it out with “nurturing” activities. My experience with him and his staff has far exceeded any expectation I had or could have had. Moreover, I cannot believe how amazing it is to not be in pain all the time. (Diligently doing PT to regain full strength, flexibility and mobility has allowed me to begin to return to competitive ballroom dance and jogging.Dr. Klapper literally gave me my life back via my new hip! There are not enough “thank yous” in the world to express my gratitude. 🙏🏻

They dont get any better than Dr Klapper. Not only does he have the most healing and caring bedside manner, he is an adept surgeon, inventor and sculptor. I had both of my hips replaced by him last fall and by February I healed enough to win another world championship in Europe. I couldnt have done this without his expertise. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Had my right hip replaced 5 weeks ago. Very little pain and swelling. PTs & nurses at Cedars & at home were impressed. Walking around the block without a cane within a week. If you read his book you are good to go. Could not be more pleased with the whole team. THANKS!!!

Beyond 5/5 beyond 100/100.... absolutely knows what he is doing and does not take advantage! His waiting room is rad and he matches the rest of the office decor as well, he is an awesome and kind person. This is the doctor you want to have taking care of you, trust me, he is an awesome man.You changed my life by giving me the best physical therapist Martin Schneckenberger that gave me tools that I can use myself to work with my own body.I had 3 Physical Therapists that tried to help me and each made my disabled knees worse. Dr. Klapper has a very tight schedule so do it ahead of time.. I had to wait a couple months but it was worth it!!! I have been slowly healing and finally back to work!! I am taking it easy.and still do my sets everyday. When I skip, I can feel it so its worth it to make time for YOU.THANK YOU SO MUCH. I am forever grateful.Brianna Allen

My pain level has decreased from the pain I experienced prior to surgery. On road to recovery and feeling great!Dr Klapper is Just Simply an Awesome Surgeon and I am Very Thankful to him and his staff!

My mother had both of her knees repaired by Dr. Klapper and she recuperated so quickly it was amazing. Her knees were in terrible shape and required major work, yet Dr. Klapper has restored them both. It is wonderful to see her hiking everywhere and being able to explore the world with her grandchildren. She also loves Dr. Klapper’s personality.

October 12th, 2018 is the day of the re birthOf my right knee.I was scared sh**less of getting my knees fixed, so I thought they would get better if I loose some weight, excersise and buy all of the newest and greatest supplements that were advertised!Oh, many kinds of knee braces, lots and lots of money down the drain and my knees were getting worst by the day!!! My family was begging me to go see a doctor.I procrastinated for years. Finally I started to research and hoped to find the very best doctor who specializes in full knee replacements.I searched and read reviews and I searched some more and I was finally fully satisfied with my search when I found Dr. Klapper!!!!I called the office and made an appointment. An absolute calm came over me when I met Dr. Klapper, he greeted my husband and myself and answered all our questions. My surgery date was set and i started a daily one hour class, water arobics so i could strengthen my legs for a quicker recuperation after my surgery! I felt very happy and I was trully looking forward to my surgery! The big day came, great success Dr. Klapper!!!!!!Im feeling wonderful and I am getting ready to get the same procedure done on my left knee!!!! Thank you Dr. Klapper for an epic job!!! See you soon👍Lillian and Julio

I cant say enough good things about Dr. Klapper. I lover his personality almost as much as the fact that he is an excellent Orthopedist! Dr. Klapper performed a lateral release and cleaned up badly damaged cartilage in my knee after I was hit by a car while riding my bike. This was my first surgery and Dr. Klappers bedside manner put me at ease. He is authentically himself and makes no apologies for that and I love him for it. Dr. Klapper did not promise me a perfect knee but rather one with much less pain and increased range of motion. I had my surgery in July of 2013 and I am happy to say that the surgery was a great success. My knee will never be like it was before I was hit by the car but Dr. Klapper has given me the ability to use my knee without constant pain. I hope that I never need Dr. Klappers services again but the second that I do, his office will be the first place that I call!
