What an amazing experience this was. One 60-minute session and my back injury of 5+ years was gone. I had previously tried everything--PT, acupuncture, changing diet, changing exercise routine, eliminating things I love to do... nothing worked all that well. I still struggled to sit for more than 20 minutes straight. Then finally, I had my session with Daniel and without exaggeration, my life feels like it changed. Taking my first steps after he worked on my legs and back, I legitimately felt like a new person. Im so incredible grateful that I am even writing a review for others to see (and I hardly ever do something like this!). Thank you so much and hope others get to enjoy this type of experience too.

Met with Daniel at the recommendation of my brother. Coming in to see him, I could not lift a large book with my right hand. It was just too painful. Daniel and I discussed what he thought it could be and he explained that it was likely some old scar tissue in my neck from years of strain causing nerve compression. I am a medical student and had my own ideas of what might be wrong when coming into this session, but opted to defer to his expertise — A decision I do not regret. For the next ~45min, he focused intense and pinpoint pressure onto the nerves that run from my neck to my hand. Within the first 10min, I could actually lift the large book with my right hand and felt such a relief. He showed me how this had relaxed my right clavicle and dropped it significantly, allowing the area to open. He then worked on my left side and made that clavicle drop as well. It was miraculous to see such significant results so quickly.I highly recommend Daniel to anyone with chronic pain or mobility issues. As a plus, he’s extremely friendly, kind, and fun to talk to.

I am a professional Guitarist and I was lucky to find Daniel. He is the best masseuse I ever encountered. He was the one who saved me from the tennis elbow syndrome condition Ive had. Long time ago I hurt my arms, neck and shoulder skateboarding, so that was affecting my playing almost to the point of leaving my music career. So Daniel saved me after being trying different masseuses. I recommend Daniel 100%!!! The BEST Of The BEST!!!!!!

Although it took me a while to get some of Daniels time (testament to his popularity!) I was glad I was able to finally get help from someone with such skill and talent. My therapeutic massage provided pain relief far beyond my most liberal expectations.I have a fair number of old injuries and chronic pain issues and recently fell hard while participating in a rigorous exercise routine. I have frequented several different physical therapy outlets, so I know the difference between good and bad massages, believe me! Daniel definitely falls squarely in the good category. In fact, I would not be exaggerating if I said he was unbelievably exceptional at what he does. He listened to my description of current pain and issues and went right to them, working specifically and deeply (in a good way!).Additionally, he was low key and willing to talk while working, which is a huge plus - especially if youre a massage newby. Its nice to have your massage therapist so easily able to put you to ease. All in all, I highly highly recommend Daniel. Although I hate to say so, since itll mean MORE of a wait to get an appointment!

For the last 24 years I haven’t been able to use my right hand well at all. I couldn’t even open a bottle of water, and I wasn’t able to pick up a piece of paper or sign a check without pain. After one visit with Daniel I’ve been given my freedom back. Part way through the visit I was able to pick up a book. And then a five pound weight. I feel like I’ve been given my life back. I’ve had therapies all over and seen several physicians, but this is by far the only one treatment worked.

When I went to see Daniel, I was almost ready to give up hope. I had a car accident several years ago that resulted in lots of scar tissue in my right leg and shoulder. I was walking with a limp, experienced pain with every step and had an almost frozen shoulder. I was one of the most difficult cases that Daniel had ever encountered and most people would have given up on me. But, not Daniel. Not only is Daniel extraordinary at what he does, a true master, he also deeply cares about his clients and their progress. A miracle has occurred. I just walked 5 miles while sightseeing in India with NO PAIN! And, my shoulder moves normally and freely. I feel infinite gratitude for Daniel and our work together. An added bonus was that he helped me through a spiritual crisis - we had lots of time to talk during our sessions and Daniel has a depth of wisdom and knowledge that is uncommon and a pleasant surprise.

I had a great experience with Daniel. He is very caring and has excellent skills. I had chronic lower back pain more than ten years ago. I tried all types of massages, chiropractic, and acupuncture. Those helped me but only temporary. My lower back pain goes back right away and never go away. After I finished three times of treatment with Daniel, I start feeling the change in my body. My lower back didnt bother me. My alignments get better, and mobility increase. I recommend Daniel from my experience. Thank you very much!

Where to begin with Daniel Carr, when I was first referred Daniel, I was a driver and was sitting down a lot, at least 12-16 hours a day 6 days a week, and naturally my lower back started getting weak over time, one day just sitting and driving I felt a little discomfort in my lower and didnt pay any attention to it, but later that night i lifted a few heavy items and BAM, i threw out my back and was completely hunched over and couldnt stand properly, pain was unbearable, and for about a week i was like that till my boss referred me to Daniel, he easily figured out the root of the problem and was able to take care of right then an there. He was able to point a few other issues as to why it happened and took care of that for me too. That wasnt the only time this happened, coming back home from a work trip, i threw out my bad carrying my luggage and the next day i was supposed to fly out to Mexico, at 10PM i called Daniel, the man literally took me in at 10:30 and worked on me till a little past midnight, i was completely hunched over and he got me standing up straight, walking normal again, he loves to help people and i cannot stress this enough, his hands were made by GOD to heal! You will have a great time with him helping you with all your rehabilitation needs, Doctors kept on telling me oh just do the surgery but why when you have someone like daniel that takes care of his people so well. I highly recommend you go seeing him and dont hold off like i did, youll be thanking yourself for seeing this man!! Daniel if you see this, much love brother for helping me out and Gina thanks you as well!!

Life changing experience.Ive been on a long road to recover from years of hockey injuries and a recent back injury, seen many good massage therapists along the way, and am blown away by what Daniel can offer. It hurt, in the best way possible. His work is careful, considerate and masterful. On top of that, hes a standup guy, knowledgeable, hilarious, keeps your mind off of the tough work hes doing on your beat up body. Of equal importance, he educated me. He took extra time to ensure I had the right tools (stretches, exercises) to followup with, so that I can continue to rehabilitate, get stronger and be less injury prone. I feel confident about my physical future in a way I have not for a long time. For that, I am blessed for Daniel.

Daniel Carr is the person you see when you have a mysterious or chronic injury or pain that you can’t seem to heal on your own or with traditional modalities. He is also a good person to see if you want to avoid surgery. My left arm was severely incapacitated and in terrible pain after a fall down some stairs. It was dislocating with very little provocation and it’s health and function was deteriorating at a rate that was scary. No one had any answers for my particular situation prior to seeing Daniel…He is a blend of brain (Berkeley geek with good right brain skills & time spent living in Far East) and brawn (expertise level martial arts and yoga master with Yoda capabilities) that creates the perfect hybrid for understanding physical dysfunction and the desire to regain performance level abilities. He goes deep, but it gets results. I feel that that the initial trauma to my shoulder that brought me in was addressed but also that deeper layers of past injuries that created weakness and nerve deterioration were also healed. In my case what I particularly appreciated was his experience working with Vets and PTSD. My shoulder was pretty locked and my mind terrified of having it touched or moved, he was able to earn my trust and educate me on what I was experiencing so he could do the work needed.Another component of the work was doing the reintegrating exercises he assigned, even though they felt like they were nothing- I had to make the decision to trust his knowledge and method and just do as he says. He believes in his work and offers a money back guarantee but I knew from early on when I was seeing results that I would never use it and he’s worth any cost.He is not reverent and he deeply cares, but will not baby or mother you. Come to work and get better and you will get the amazing results that you were hoping existed.Carrie MSatisfied Client who hopes he doesn’t move out of the country

I have been living with debilitating chronic pain and fatigue since 1994 after having suffered a serious neck injury playing football. I suffered massive internal pain throughout my neck, the nerves and muscles along my spine, behind my eyes and head on a daily basis with build up of pain weekly that causes extreme pain, nausea, vomiting, cold sweat, and coming in and out of consciousness.... for an entire day with a second day of recovery. I have tried traditional doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists, light therapy, meditation, changing my diet etc... anything with no solution. I have for the most part accepted my situation as being life long and incurable. I found Daniel and he has been a miracle worker. Through each session I feel a massive release of tension and began rapidly going into a process of healing. My body had much more circulation after each treatment and I would feel the different symptoms begin to lessen in intensity and shorten in duration. I have been gaining much more energy and my fatigue has gone away considerably. My chronic pain as well has diminished and I am now able to function normally. Daniel has truly given me my life back and I feel truly grateful for having received this life changing healing. He has amazing capacity to heal and treat conditions I would not have believed would be possible. Thank you so much for all you have done

Today at 2:31 PMI met Dan Carr in April, 2010 at the West LA VA Medical Center. He was working with the Veterans there at the Domiciliary. I told him about an injury I had to my right shoulder. I had a grade 4 Separation that had occurred in 1983 while I was playing Professional Football. He worked on my shoulder twice, and relieved my pain while adding flexibility. He explained that in order to be completely free of pain, I needed surgery. In June, 2015, a UCLA Surgical Team rebuilt my Rotator Cuff (which had the front blown out), and repaired a Bicep muscle that had torn away from my shoulder seven months earlier. Eight weeks after surgery, I got in contact with Dan to see if he could aid in my Rehab. (BOY DID HE )!!!!I went to him weekly for three months. After the surgery, I had minimal range of motion and flexibility with little strength and pain with movement. Each week after a half-hour with Dan, applying his “Magic” on my shoulder and arm, I saw significant gains. He brought me back 90%! I will say that his Therapy is painful, but the results are immediate. After the 12 weeks with Dan, I went on my way back home to continue with my rehab and strength training. It is now 8 ½ months after surgery, and my range of motion and flexibility are at 100%! My strength is now 90% back to where it was prior to my injury. My Medical Doctors are totally amazed at the results I am having so soon after surgery. They all told me it would take two years to be back to where I am right now. Without Dan Carr’s incredible talent, I would not be even close in my rehab as I am right now.I should add that I had this surgery at age 65 years. I am now 66 and Dan’s magic had made me feel 35 again!Daniel Carr is a TRUE MASTER! The very best at what he does. I have recommended him to everyone I know that needs his kind of help.NO PAIN, NO GAIN!!!!!!Jim MillerFormer Vietnam War Special Warfare OfficerAnd Professional Football Player; 27 February 2016

I have had back pain ever since I can remember. I always thought it’s because I’m at my desk most of my day. I thought the desk was also causing my bad posture . I tried to fix my pain and posture at the chiropractor. It did help a bit but not much. I also hired a fitness instructor at equinox. It also helped a bit . When I started going to Daniel my back was hurting about 80% of my day. After the first session he took care of what he calls “scar tissue”. I remember I didn’t expect much. But a few days later I noticed I walked straighter. So I went back a few more sessions. Needless to say he gets himself out of way pretty quickly. After 5-6 sessions my pain severely subdued (it’s now at 5 %) and my posture had improved dramatically. I didn’t think it was possible . A word of warning - it’s not your typical Thai massage that leaves you relaxed - it’s the kind your Jewish mom orders to fix whatever body problems you may have :)

I’ve been going to Dan Carr for over 20 years for a variety of sports and work-related injuries, including severe carpal tunnel that cost me months of work every time it flared up, tennis shoulder, knee, ankle, elbow. If you’re tired of being in pain and/or considering going under the knife, go see Dan Carr first. His nerve repair treatments can do what regular doctors can’t. His unique background in high-end martial arts and deep intuitive grasp of the body’s energy systems give him a holistic understanding that sets him apart from everyone else. His treatments are equally healing on an energetic level. Since then, she has been having pain issues in her back and legs, and has not been able to sleep at night, during the day, or any time for more than an hour. Daniel has been very helpful in treating her, and my mom has been improving. We have tried going to chiropractors and Thai massage places, but these did not help her. Since coming here, we do not go to any other Thai massage places. Daniel takes the time to understand where the body needs attention, and is really able to get to deep injuries or muscle tightness and release them. He has also treated my dad, my sister, and myself for different things. Originally went to Daniel to work on my back spasms that were so bad I could not get up without rolling over and crawling. He fixed that in about four sessions then moved on to my hip and back which were causing other problems. My thought was that I just needed to live with that.Working out 3-4 times a week with a really good trainer at 70 years old takes its toll, believe me. UPDATE: I woke up Sunday morning with EXTREME arm pain. I couldnt lift my arm to the side. Monday morning it was worse, so I called Daniel (I knew that my doctor would just give me some pain meds for this type of injury). In 30 minutes, Daniel turned things around. Instead of continuing to get worse, he restored some of my mobility and gave me exercises that now, 2 days later, has me almost back to normal. This would have taken weeks and lots of pain meds without him.Daniel has been a game changer. Before he started working with me, I had chronic back and arm and leg pain for years. I tried traditional medicine, acupuncture, cupping, and various types of massage. None of it worked, and I was managing it at best. What he does works, and works fast. In just a couple sessions, years worth of pain has halved, and halved again. I’m on track to a full recovery in a matter of weeks, when nothing else helped.

For nearly a decade I had intermittent but very serious head pain. A wide arrange of doctors could not provide me with a diagnosis. I was told that migraines, cluster headaches even gastro intestinal issues were the root cause of this debilitating problem. My son had been seeing Daniel for a few years and was telling him about my condition. Daniel took it upon himself to research the symptoms my son had described and asked if he could take a look at me. In the first session Daniel went straight to my neck and surmised that all the scar tissue from a lifetime of neck tweaks and head hitting had created a blockage that lowered the pressure around my brain. I was impressed and immediately felt a small amount of relief. Now, after 4 treatments with him, I have been head pain free for months. Relief I havent felt in almost 10 years. Its truly amazing how straightforward his theory was and how transformative the treatments have been. For Daniel to eradicate a condition that top specialists at Cedars, Kaiser and elsewhere couldnt diagnose is simply remarkable.

Dan is simply the best to help you overcome chronic muscular pain. No one is as skilled at Thai massage and rehabilitation in Los Angeles and the entire United States for that matter. He knows the body inside and out and is an expert in rehabilitation. I worked with him in the past and experienced many years where I was pain free. I recently had a serious knee injury. I saw numerous doctors which include orthopedics and rheumatologists. After several tests nothing was found and I was told I have runners knee and inflammatory arthritis. I was left to suffer in pain until I saw Dan. He found that my hip had been torn due to violent stretches I was forced to do while I practiced martial arts. Specifically, Dan found that my nerves had been torn from my hip all the way down to my knees and he eliminated all scar tissue at the level of my hips. After only a few sessions with Dan I am now pain free and have the knowledge to prevent further injury to myself through strength training. If you suffer from chronic pain I urge you to seek Dans care for immediate relief.

I dont know where to begin with how amazing a practitioner and person Daniel is. I have known him now for almost 5 years and I can truly say there is no one better at his craft then Daniel. As a busy surgeon my work can be incredibly demanding and takes its toll physically on me; however, thanks to Daniel I am able to stay fresh and pain free. Free time can be difficult for me to come by but I cant imagine there is anything better I can do for my health then see Daniel for regular treatment. After getting to know very well I believe there are several aspects about him and his practice that sets him apart.1) Experience - Daniel has been doing this for a long time and has trained from some of the best Thai massage mentors in Thailand. He has experiences and training that very few have been able to obtain. Furthermore there are very few conditions that he has not seen at this point which makes a huge difference.2) Knowledge - He has spent a lifetime devoting himself to knowledge of his craft and it certainly shows. He has a strong working knowledge of global neuromuscular anatomy which allows him accurately diagnose and treat with precision as opposed to other providers who attempt a one treatment for all conditions approach.3) Skill - Daniel is incredibly skilled at what he does. He has years of martial arts training and has the strength to provide treatment to even the most tense of muscles in difficult areas. He truly is gifted in his ability to deliver strong yet precise therapy with the highest level of control.4) Compassion - Above all Daniel is the most caring individual I know. This is not a job for him but rather a career and passion. For him treatment does not end after a specific amount time but rather when relief and benefit have been achieved. He cares so much about your well being and is a healer above all.I cant say enough good about the type of person Daniel is and the work that he does. A true master of his craft and dear friend. If you are looking for neuromuscular therapy and someone who will be dedicated to helping you achieve the best health possible look no further then Daniel.

I am compelled to write my first Google Review to give Dan Carr of Los Angeles Thai Massage & Prehabilitation 5 plus stars.Around 5 months ago, I injured my lower back which resulted in causing major pain/discomfort radiating down both of my legs (sciatica). The only position where I could find any relief was when laying down on my side. I could walk about 1 city block and could stand for 15 minutes. After that the sciatica pain was such that my legs would lock up so I could not walk or stand and would have to lay down. I could not sit down. It was debilitating. At first, I went to my primary care doctor who referred me to an Orthopedic Surgeon. As it turned out the Orthopedic Surgeon recommended was known as the “doctors doctor” since other doctors with back problems go to him. After my first appointment, I was not provided a diagnosis, but, was recommended to go to physical therapy. After two visits to the physical therapist it was clear to her that I was in too much pain for therapy. I went back to the Orthopedic Surgeon who only then ordered an MRI. It turned out that I had a moderate sized disc herniation at the L3/L4 level. The doctors next step was to order an epidural where cortisone is injected into the injured area to reduce inflammation. The epidural finally provided temporary relief. I had to call the doctors office multiple times to move the process forward (i.e. getting insurance approval for the MRI and then again for the epidural). The time between my first Orthopedic Surgeon visit until the epidural shot was almost two months during which time I could hardly move due to the daily, extreme sciatica pain. My doctor visits would last less than 5 minutes with the doctor who was quick to want to leave without even providing me time to ask questions. I never felt important.Ten days after the epidural I had my first of two visits with Dan. Dan is without question a master of Thai massage. I knew I was in good hands after our first conversation. Dan knew all about my injury and explained to me why the epidural provided temporary relief and he told me that he could help me overcome my lower back pain and resulting sciatica so that I would be able to lead the type of life I had prior to my injury. It would be my first Thai Massage.During both visits Dan explained to me what he was going to do before he began the massage which put me at ease. Thai massage is deep tissue type of massage. During each massage, which lasted about one hour, Dan was continuously seeking feedback for how I was feeling and if I was doing ok. At times, I asked him to back off which he did immediately. It was obvious that Dan knows what he is doing. During the massages I could feel the pinched nerves in my lower back being released. At the end of my second massage, Dan informed me about what I would experience in the next few weeks and demonstrated for me rehabilitation exercises that I still do a few times each day. They too have been of great help. The day after the second massage Dan followed up with me to see how I was doing. He followed up again a few days later. Then a week later and then again a week after that. I really appreciated his concern for my well being. Then after more than two months since my massage treatment Dan reached out again to see how I have progressed. I was pleased to tell him that I have my life back and can do all the activities I did prior to my injury and without experiencing any symptoms of sciatica, although with extra care so as not to re-injure myself. He then gave me some exercises to perform in “Phase 2” of my recovery and let me know that by doing them I can heal my lower back to be stronger than it was before I injured it. I believe him.

As someone who lives for surfing, I can definitively state that Daniel Carr has saved my life. Dan has treated me for chronic injuries built up over time, most especially for my hips, knees and back as well as several direct trauma events. The most extreme and recent of these injuries occurred in December of 2014 while surfing an outer reef on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii, where I currently live. While dropping into a large wave I had my very heavy, 10 foot, big wave board smashed into my left collar bone while my left arm was twisted out and back. The result was spectacular in a horrible way as my collarbone shattered into four pieces and had to be repaired with 11 screws and a large metal plate. At the time Dan was training in Thailand to further his massage skills. Not having immediate access to Dan, I began by exhausting every competent physical therapist on the island of Oahu. They could not help. As I became more desperate, I returned to my hometown of Santa Monica to work with the world-renowned Altus Institute for large sums of money and huge amounts of time. They could not help. Everyone tried their hardest, but I still wound up with a fracture that almost did not heal and a basically useless left arm.Had I not previously worked with Dan, I do not know what would have happened to me. Luckily he returned from Thailand just as I was reaching a low point. After two months of extensive massage, yoga, martial arts and weight training with Dan, I could paddle a surfboard. Something I had been told was close to medically impossible with the way my injury was healing before Dan became involved. As Dan and I kept working together, we decided to focus on my body as a whole and all of my accumulated injuries over the years. Now that I have been working with him for several additional months, I am in better surfing and living shape than I was before my accident and Dan has managed to clear up many long-term physical problems. The final point is this; if you think your situation is hopeless, and orthopedic doctors and physical therapists cannot solve your problem without proposing more surgery or just telling you to give up your lifestyle, go see Dan. If you are willing to work with him, he can cure you. I can firmly say that whatever comes my way in life, by way of injury or bodily maintenance, I can move forward free of fear because I know that Dan will always help pick me up if I fall again.

Having seen numerous chiropractors, physical therapists, golfers, trigger point therapists, and other massage therapists, none of these professionals could help me overcome my pain. After working with Daniel now for a couple months, not only has my pain continued to reduce but I have gotten to the point where my body is in remarkably better shape. I no longer take pain medication, which is the best result of all. The scar tissue in my neck that was limiting mobility has been substantially reduced, and the work on my legs and lower back has changed mt posture for the better. A physician told me that my body has skeletal spasticity and that my muscles will always be spasming, causing pain. Daniel has demonstrated to me that this is not the case. He has also shown me an exercise regimen that will help me live my life not only pain-free but make me increasingly stronger and more powerful. Through body-work and a rigors daily regiment of exercises, I am happy to say that I feel great.

I had a very complex case and had been to multiple doctors for 2 years the biggest and most expensive places you can think of and I kept searching the net and eventually came across Daniel, the issue i had was pelvic pain, i experienced constant mild pain at the tip of the penis. The first appointment I felt Daniel got a really good grasp on what was going on. He used abdominal massage primarily and each appointment i saw improvement. After a couple appointments it was gone and I was completely cured. What attracted me to him was his offer that if he does not help you he wont take your money i have never seen anything like that in my life before what a honest incredible person to offer something like that. He is very gifted and talented and has put alot of time into his craft to become the great healer he is today. He saved my life to be honest the pain was so uncomfortable words cant express my gratitude towards what he has done for me.

If you’ve gotten this far through the thicket of five-star reviews, you already know that Daniel is superbly skilled, superbly effective, and cares deeply about his patients. So, in addition to giving a recounting of his excellent work, I thought it would be useful to offer my take on why he is so good at what he does.I think it comes down to three things: he’s very smart, he’s very dedicated, and hes very highly trained. His training, in particular, is interesting, and perhaps unique. He spent a significant amount of time living in Thailand, training in what may be one of the most sophisticated forms of massage in the world. But, in addition, he has three decades of experience in a Chinese internal martial art called Hsing-I (it’s a sister art to Tai Chi). This has given him, I think, an exceptional ability to sense what’s going on in your body, and thus what part needs to be worked on, and how it needs to be worked on, in order to help you heal.In my case, I had extensive soft tissue damage from a couple of serious accidents. Daniel’s sessions were highly effective at finding and breaking up the adhered scar tissue, which returned circulation to those areas and thus allowed the body’s internal healing processes to proceed. Accompanying this, he supplied very effective exercises designed specifically to address my weaknesses and support this healing, which enabled me to return to the athletic activities I used to enjoy, and can now enjoy again – including running hard up and down hiking trails and skiing challenging off-piste terrain.I give Daniel my highest recommendation.

About two years ago I was suffering from a great deal of pain in my hips and lower back and legs. I had gone to see several massage therapist before hand and would receive very temporary relief. After trying several different styles of massage and therapists, I did some research and found out about Daniel Carr. When I first went to see him we spoke for quite a long period of time discussing my ailments and where the sources of them were. We work together for a month or so and finally started to feel some relief for extended period time. So much so in fact I stopped seeing Daniel for about a year. In the last few months I had rolled my ankle and suffered from a fall and my previous pain started coming back after just two quick sessions my pain was relieved again. I highly recommend Daniel to anyone suffering from prolonged pain. His knowledge and Percision with his clients needs is truly second to none. It’s a pleasure to know him and work with him.

Master masseuse Daniel Carr has worked wonders with with my old chronic and persistent injuries. I had been in constant pain for years and I am now pain free thanks to his series of therapeutic treatments. I had also referred several of my friends and co-workers to him where he has treated a myriad of different types of cases with great success. I highly recommend him as one of the best pain Managment body workers of my experience.

Dan Carr does not offer the typical Thai Massage you find elsewhere in Los Angeles; instead you receive a therapeutic, at times painful treatment that helps heal and repair chronic pain. I first saw Dan for pain in my knee which was making walking very difficult. Although i needed to see Dan for several sessions in order to have the pain totally relieved, I was amazed at how much relief I felt after just one session. Anyone experiencing chronic pain NEEDS to see Dan Carr.

Daniel was my absolute last resort before back surgery. To say he changed my life would be an understatement. He saved my life. You see, about ten months ago, I herniated a disc in my lumbar spine (L5/S1). I had a severe back spasm that landed me in the emergency room for two days and I was unable to walk without a cane at only 28 years old. I was devastated since my life revolved around being active. Prior to my accident I was rock climbing three times per week and practicing vinyasa yoga three times per week. After the accident, I could not even sleep through the night without waking up in pain. I was walking with a cane.I went to see world-renowned Dr. Leonel Hunt at Cedars-Sinai. I was certain that he would be able to help given his reputation. Upon looking at my MRI, Dr. Hunt told me he had good news and bad news. The good news -- he knew what was wrong with my back. The bad news, and I quote, you will never have a day without pain for the rest of your life. He told me to avoid any activities that irritated my back (including climbing and yoga) and to learn to live my life centered around my back. If it got bad enough, we could explore lumbar fusion surgery that would in turn start the degenerative process for the rest of my discs. I wasnt even 30 years old, how could this be happening? Not to sound dramatic, but it felt as though my active life was over.I opted for physical therapy for three months. It helped a bit, but I was still in pain on a daily basis. I was told to try acupuncture. Acupuncture helped, but I still couldnt sleep through the night due to the pain. I started seeing a mobility specialist. Again, it helped a little, but I still had residual pain and was unable to do any other activity besides walking a mile. To go from exercising six days per week to zero was brutal. My mental health plummeted without physical activity. I was even considering flying to Germany for a stem cell injection in my lumbar spine. All I wanted was my life back.A friend of mine casually mentioned Daniel and his Thai massage practice. I knew nothing about Thai massage, but I was desperate enough to try anything. The first time I saw Daniel, he said I can fix you after chatting about my injury, MRI, and what I had done up until that point. I was wary of his confidence. How could Daniel fix me when Dr. Hunt, my physical therapist, my acupuncturist, my mobility specialist were all unable to? Was this some kind of scam? I asked Daniel if this was going to be some longterm type of treatment, like a chiropractor, where I would have to come in for adjustments for the rest of my life. He replied with dont worry, I have a way of working myself out of a job.I started seeing Daniel once per week. After our second session, I had my first full night of sleep, free of pain. After about a month, I could go a full week free of pain, both night and day. A Cedars surgeon told me this wasnt possible! Daniel gave me homework so that I could work on back at home in between sessions. After about two and a half months, I was able to endure a six hour flight without fear of another back spasm. After about three months, I started taking yoga classes again and rebuilding my strength. It has now been four months since I started seeing Daniel. I only see him once every three weeks before I start to feel any type of mild discomfort in my back. I am even getting ready to start rock climbing again! The panic, the fear, of having another back spasm is mostly gone, along with any plans for back surgery.I normally do not write Google reviews, let alone ones of this length, but Daniel and his practice are something I feel strongly about. I am so grateful to have found him and am humbled by his care, hard work, and dedication to his patients.

I was quite sceptical at first, when I started seeing Daniel, as I have for more than four decades tried to manage my chronic pain, and improve areas of injuries with chiropractic treatments, accupuncture, OTC pain medication, spinal decompression treatments, platelet rich plasma and other injections, massage therapy, physical therapy and so on. As one could imagine, I cannot begin to calculate the thousands of dollars spent in this quest.I am happy to say that Daniels treatments are the only thing that has improved my neck pain and stability in all these years. I no longer have constant migraine headaches. I have other areas of pain which I anticipate to continue improving over time as I am the beneficiary of more treatments.

As a yoga practitioner, Daniel has been an invaluable resource. I started seeing Daniel after having some tingling sensations and numbness in my left leg following drop backs (dropping back to a backbend from standing and then standing up again). I have a very flexible lumbar spine and a tighter thoracic spine. Daniel was able to watch me do a few gentle backbends and target the areas of tightness that were creating too much pressure in my lower back and causing me pain. Within each treatment session, he was able to significantly increase the flexion in my upper back - it was pretty cool to feel how much more open my upper back was as I tried backbending at the end of the session, in comparison to the beginning of the session. I never experienced any more nerve impingement after my treatments with Daniel.Daniel later became invaluable to me as I started working on the 2nd series of the Ashtanga practice - which is full of deep spinal flexion and extension. I was nervous about moving into the deeper backbends given my previous issues, and had several treatments with Daniel. Again, within one session he would watch me do Ustrasana, and would target the areas of his treatments based on what he observed - again over the course of one session my upper back would be more and more open, creating new sense of ease in the backbend. Within a few sessions of seeing Daniel I was able to catch my heels in Kapotasana without the backbend dumping into my low back and causing me pain or nerve issues. If I lived closer I would be in to see Daniel in a heartbeat. My husband has also gone to seen Daniel for jiujitsu related injuries/tightness with success. Thanks for everything, Daniel!

There is a reason that this man has only 5 star reviews. This is not ur lazy Swedish massage parlor. This is a life altering experience. I am a massage connosuer and after 25 years of all sorts of massages all over the world, this guy his hands down the best. But he’s more than a masseur, he’s a body healer. He will find old injuries inside you that you didn’t know were causing your pain, and then he will fix them. I kid you not, this guy is the real deal. Old school Kung fu master healer. It’s like being worked on by Mr. Miaggi. I suffered from back pain for years. It would wake me up every night. After one visit with Daniel it was gone. If I had ten thumbs up I’d give it to him. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment. It will change your life for the better. It did mine. Thank you Daniel.

I had a serious 6-day per week Ashtanga yoga practice for 6 years. Then I was in a near fatal car accident in 2003. It left me with very limited movement due to a lot of scar tissue and nervous system issues. Over the years Ive tried numerous healing therapies, but found Daniels technique to be the most transformative. Its given me the opportunity to practice Ashtanga again without pain...not to mention the freedom of movement Ive regained in my daily life and my asanas. These treatments are a great pathway to improve yoga poses that are challenging or that never seem to improve. Daniel is truly a gifted healer.

8 Years of visits to multiple orthopedic surgeons receiving various diagnoses and treatments proven completely useless when compared to my first treatment from Daniel. I spent 8 years incapable of kneeling past 90 degrees without sharp knee pain. During the first treatment Daniel had me sitting on my heels without pain. Truly revelatory. Through further treatments Daniel has been able to work out most of my day to day knee pain as well. Daniel has an innate ability for identifying what is wrong with your body and for treating it effectively and efficiently through his mastery of Thai massage. I never feel better than when I have just received a treatment from Daniel, but what is beyond invaluable is the long term benefits. I have returned to activities that I havent enjoyed for 8 years because of knee pain including basketball. If you have chronic pain of any kind or an injury that youd rather not let linger do yourself a favor and give Daniel a visit.

As a 50 year old certified Pilates Instructor and Studio Owner, understanding the Mind/Body connection is a must to advance my clients in both Athletic Group and especially Rehabilitative Pilates sessions. I suffered a significant knee injury 5 years ago and struggled with finding a therapist who shared my understanding and the importance of energy (Chi) as it relates to healing and balancing the body by addressing the actual results of the injury, surgery and Physical Therapy (PT) or what most consider PT. My experience with physician ordered PT was a joke to say the least. I google searched all of LA and found Los Angeles Thai Massage. After reading Dans reviews and background, I quickly realized he is really helping his clients through his complete knowledge of Mind/Body/Energy/Healing. After the first session I began to have sensation not felt with any previous body work, by the second session it was clear Dan will be my healing coach for life. After years of wondering from PT to PT I am now happy to correct my body close to its original ROM. I am also learning important techniques to help improve my client’s ability to perform athletically. Now I WILL be competing in a triathlon this fall. Thanks Dan!

Im in my mid 40s, 65 tall and 220. I make my living chasing athletes with a 30 pound camera in my hands. Its safe to say that back problems have been a part of my life for a considerable time. Now, I have sought out numerous methods of relief in the Chiropractic and Physical training fields but nothing has even come close to what a few sessions with Daniel has done. Nothing.Firstly, his massages are more workout then massage. The actual massage is the breakdown of scar tissue from old injuries and stresses that create these pain centers. Daniels touch is robust to say the least. Yet, the increased flow of god knows what results in pain relief that I have not found anywhere else.Secondly, Daniels complete understanding of his discipline AND the human body give him a very unique take on pain and how it accumulates. In all my years of treatment nobody had ever mentioned my Psoas and that was pretty much the first thing out of his mouth. In a few minutes he was pressing firmly through my abdomen manipulating my Psoas and voila, a 75% reduction in pain. After the second treatment....it was miraculous how differently my body felt.Third and last, Daniel is very frank. He knows what hes talking about, he knows what hes doing and he wants to help. Hes not there to massage your ego, hes there to restore the natural flow within your body so that when you stand up in the morning, youre really standing up.This may sound like a commercial, but thats just how much i believe in him.

Having played sports and enjoying outdoor sports (rock climbing, skiing) all my life I have had my fair share of injuries. I have had compound fractures to my radius/ulna and wrist (climbing accident), broken ribs, and multiple ankle injuries. In addition, my profession is extremely physicallly/mentally demanding. Slowly, my past injuries have started to come back and play a toll on my ability to maintain a healthy balance in my overall life. Specifically, a nagging ankle injury had me taking off considerable amount of time off from work. I was receiving Shiatsu massages weekly which would alleviate my overall pain but unfortunately the relief was only for couple weeks at a time. I really thought that my lower left ankle would require surgery to allow me to walk comfortably again. I spent a considerable amount of money having MRIs and consultations with orthopaedic surgeons and was scheduled to have surgery. I started researching the internet and came across Daniel Carr. My thoughts going into the initial meeting with Mr. Carr was sort a last ditch effort with little expectations. Turns out that this decision not only prevented me from having surgery but allowed me to find a symmetry and balance that I have not felt in over 20 years. 3 sessions later, my ankle feels 1000 times better and I have been able to get back to playing basketball and working out without pain. Daniels confidence and knowledge is evident from the start and his technique and skill is unlike any therapist that I have experienced. I would personally recommend Daniel to my family, patients and co-workers and have the confidence that he will improve your condition and allow you to gain confidence in your overall life.Dr. Eric Lin DDS

Over a year ago I was in a car accident. I have a bunch of neurological symptoms & no cause that anyone could find. Ive had multiple MRIs & testing. Then I developed secondary problems; acid reflux, sleep apnea & eye pain. Ive been seeing neurologists, chiropractors, internal medicine, acupuncturists, physical therapists & a somatic experiencing therapist. I was at the point I was afraid I was dying. I was just getting weaker & weaker. Then a friend told me to see Daniel Carr. He immediately discovered my abdomen was locked up which caused my diaphragm to barely work & was causing all my organs to not function properly. After the 1st session my sleep improved dramatically. Two weeks later I can sleep thru the night. The acid reflux & sore eyes are gone. I finally feel like Im going to be ok. Thank You Daniel! If you have any pain. Just stop looking, this guy is the best. Youll have to wait until he returns to L.A. because hes continuing to deepen his training in Thailand, but he is already far better than any Thai massage person or any other body worker of any kind that Ive ever encountered - and Ive seen all types from chiropractic, cranial-sacral, Bowen, Rolfing, prolotherapy, acupuncture, rebalancing, Neuromuscular Recalibration, etc., etc., etc. Daniel Carr gave me back body functionality I havent had for 40 years, when everyone else told me Id just have to live with it and expect it to gradually get worse. Go see him. Hes not even expensive, so you have no excuse.

Today I completed my fourth and probably final treatment from Daniel for a very painful left knee condition. He cured it pretty much after the 3rd treatment but I pushed for one more because he is so skilled in knowing where and how to break-up scar tissue, relax muscle spasms, and restore blood circulation---to the point that I feel rejuvenated when I leave his office. Before finding Daniel, I had been suffering from increasing knee pain for over 2 months. I had no recollection of having any type of traumatic injury to the area, so I feared that I was developing arthritis in my knee. I took otc NSAIDs, which did little to help the pain, but they did make my insides feel like they were hemorrhaging, so I had to stop taking them. Then I decided that probably my congenitally deformed feet were causing the knee pain. I went to a podiatrist, who confirmed my assumption. He took plaster impressions of my feet and sent them out of state to have custom orthotics created, which I was told would take three weeks. In the meantime, I began searching on-line for some kind of more immediate intervention to help with the increasingly immobilizing pain. After hours of searching, I was lucky enough to find Daniel! I am not in the least bit impressed by claims many practitioners may make about themselves; but when those claims appear to be substantiated by so many actual clients, I take the time to investigate further. Reading Daniels philosophy about his treatment techniques, his very extensive training and experience, (and his money-back guarantee!) led me to believe and trust that he was a truly dedicated, knowledgeable and effective massage practitioner. And he is!!!Daniel was convinced that my deformed feet had very little to do with my knee pain. He felt that my pain was caused by cumulative assaults to my system from 55 years of life. Based on the amount of pain and disability I had initially, I honestly didnt believe Daniel when he said most likely I will only need about 3-4 treatments max to get well. I couldnt fathom how my condition could possibly be repaired so quickly. But he was right! (And btw, my orthotics have not even come back from the lab yet, so clearly it was Daniels treatment that cured me).I would like to add that over the course of treatment, I had a few sporadic days where my knee seemed to regress slightly, but then take 3 giant steps forward thereafter, So people reading this review shouldnt be discouraged if this occurs to them as well. I also want others to know that when Daniel evaluates a new client, he doesnt just focus on that body part that the client claims to be the source of pain. He understands that everything in the body is interrelated and thus forms his treatment plan accordingly.I feel so fortunate to have found him and am very grateful for his hard work, professionalism, and dedication to healing. If anyone reading this is suffering from pain or immobility, do yourself a big favor and go to Daniel for treatment.

Have been to Thailand 11 times in the last 7 years and married a Thai masseuse - so i know a little bit about the healing properties of a good thai massage.I have fibromyalgia and arthritis in my neck and shoulders and my foot. My trip to thailand in 2007 i sought out nerve specialists and they turned my world upside down and brought me a lot of relief.... but i only had a few treatments and pain returned.None of this prepared me for what Daniel could and still does do for me.Let me say that i have passed kidney stones 3 times in my life and that was more fun that one of Daniels intense workovers.Nonetheless, i give him a full five stars. Over a period of 3 months and about 8 treatments he has relieved me of about 80% of active pain, almost off of all pain medications now.... my foot arthritis pain is completely gone and shoulders and neck only occassionally spasm. When i first went to see him - he said he felt at least 3 major whiplash events in my body and that was the cause of my current pain situation. I could not believe my ears! Acupuncturists, chiropractors, physical therapists (all over a period of 2 years)- none had ever referenced my 3 car wrecks or suggested any relationship between these incidents and my chronic pain.Daniel correctly found the root cause and has been FANSTASTIC in fixing the situation.I will see him a couple of more times before i go to thailand for another month of relaxation and then that will be it. But if i ever experience pain again from my fibromyalgia or arthritis - i know where to go.Well, went to Thailand for a month, got several massages from Daniels teacher, was extremely intrigued by the blind masters techniques and have returned to Daniels care.I now wear shoes i could never wear before (due to my foot arthritis), sleep well at night, have NO pain during the day and have actually walked a couple of miles over SFO hills - something i thought i would never do again.Pills are all gone , pain is gone and i will be sorry to stop seeing Daniel. I know i will get a tune-up now and again... but i also know that my body will never forget the healing he has enabled me to experience. What more could you ask for?I cant say enough about the mans personal committment to healing and his integrity. Top marks all the way around. And because of the way/what he treats, you may find yourself healing in other ways too.... seeing him has been a life changing experience.Update from Thailand, two years later.I have now lived in Chiang Mai for almost 2 years and been getting massages whenever so inclined - hey, at $10 for 2 hrs, i am inclined a lot!Anyways... i thought i would mention that i have yet to find a massage in thailand as comprehensive or as healing as what Daniel gave me in San Franciso. I am still free from pain around my original complaints - Daniel gave me that freedom! But sometimes here, i get kinks or cramps and i want them worked out. Off to massage.I have found two people here that begin to approach the energy and strength that Daniel brings, and only one, that seems to have a potential for technique. My wife is thai, so she conveys to the masseuse what i need and still, they fail to deliver like Daniel did.Daniel achieved a perfect marriage of thai techniques, asian chi dynamics, basic body health, and a deep understanding of nerve systems.Once again, i say thank you , Daniel!
